Flexijack to Analog Adapter or Converter

I'll try my best to explain all the details of my problem.
I own an JVC DVD Home Theater System 5. Surround THX Dolby Digital. Model is TH-C5. Specifications are HERE. This sound system has only 2 inputs for audio: Analog Input (red & white) and Digital Input (Optical). This system is centered under my Sharp 080p Aquos LCD. My Computer tower is situated about 5-20 feet away, under an open desk. In my computer I own an a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music. Specifications HERE. This sound card has 4 3.5mm jacks, 3 of which are colored black, and green. There is a [color="#3366ff">blue colored jack which indicates it is for a microphone.
My problem is this: I want to buy a blu-ray combo dri've such as THIS, so I can have burning and reading capability, instead of just getting a BD Player for my TV, which seems a waste of $. I want to be able to play a BD movie in this combo dri've and have the image display on my Sharp Aquos, and the sound play through my JVC system. The video problem is something I'll deal with later. I have several options, including upgrading my video card to support HDMI or buying a DVI to VGA adapter cable (the easiest). The sound dilemma is more difficult. [size="2" face="impact, chicago">How do I convert the sound from the Soundblaster's 3 "flexijack" ports of different colors to either of my JVC system's inputs? (remember: Optical input and red/white Analog). Essentially I'm asking any of you if there exists a type of cable that could adapt these two types of analog inputs. Any help or information you guys could spare would help greatly. Do any of you know of any good "audio" forums I could post this to as well?Message Edited by FlashFire on 08-0-2009 0:20 [email protected]

,Re: Flexijack to Analog Adapter or Converterm So it is not possible to connect my X-Fi Xtreme Music (Green, Yellow, Black ports) to my JVC Recei'ver (Red, White ports)? That essentially, in it's MOST basic form, is my question... I appreciate your suggestions, but that converter is too expensi've and considering the distance between my receiver and sound card it would not be appropriate. I wanted to avoid optical because of the distance. A 20 ft optical cable (if even exists) would be very expensi've I assume...

How exactly are you performing 'Analog to Digital'???
Grabbing image using camera OR performing data acquisition using DAQ card OR some other way????
I am not allergic to Kudos, in fact I love Kudos.

• Travel adapter, not converter to charge in a 220V country

Will a travel adapter, not converter, be ok to charge my mba in a 220v country?
I noted in the manual it said under 'Magsafe power spec's: Line Voltage 100 to 240 V.
Thx!!

Yes. Mac just needs an adapter, not a converter.
Best.

Hello, I am having problems with my power connector not staying in it's socket allready!!The laptop is on a small table and the laptop is only used a few times a week!Is there a Right Angle 90-degree Power Adapter Connector Converter for TOSHIBA Qosmio X875-Q7290?I think this would help solve the problem. Thank You

Get an aftermarket universal charger, perhaps?    Their connectors are mostly  right-angle.    I have some iGo Green model that looks like this but is an older model.    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834993922

Do I need an adapter or converter to charge i-phone 3G in Paris?

All you need is an adaptor for the plug. The charger itself is a world charger & works everywhere.

• Adapter or converter in Japan?

You do not need a voltage converter. But you will need a plug adapter.

• A Good Value Analog to DV Converter?

I'm looking for an affordable and powerful analog to DV converter. I saw the one at ElGato, the EyeTV 200, but that also has a TV tuner in it which jacks up the price a bit. Then I looked at the Canopus ADVC100 which is sold in Apple's Online Store. Are either of these good choices? Keep in mind that I need something that imports both composite and s-video through a high-speed port (FireWire 400 or 800 or USB 2).

I've got an eyetv 200
it works well, so far i've captured about 200gb of video (i'm archiving lots of old tapes), absolutely no problems so far
it has composite and s-video, as well as a tuner
the capture quality is fine, it handles video from marginal tapes better than my tv
it hardware encodes direct to mpeg-2, so for going direct to dvd (via toast) this is great as there's no lengthy encoding needed
but you've said you want analogue to dv, the eyetv goes straight to mpeg-2, it can export this as dv, but the initial compression step will have lost some information, and assuming you want to subsequently go dv->mpeg-2 then there'll be another quality hit there
you can reduce the impact of this by upping the capture bit-rate, the maximum is 6.8gb/hr, about 3 times higher than a normal dvd
the software has been flawless, a few more editing features would be handy, and that's really my only (mild) gripe
but imho if you want to do much editing/authoring, rather than simply converting old videos to store on dvd, or using it as a tivo-type device, then you'd be better off getting a unit that goes direct to dv without any compression

• Analog to Digital Converter boxes

Does anyone think Apple will ever fix iMovie to restore usage of many analog to digital converter boxes that were broken by iMovie 5?
I have a SONY DVMC-DA1 firewire unit and wish I could use it again in iMovie. Does anyone know what the exact component is that they left out or changed that would cause this problem? I'm just trying to understand.

The ADVC-55 is capture only. It includes composite & s-video inputs and stereo audio inputs. Firewire output.
The ADVC-110 is bidirectional (meaning you can both capture and output through it - this is a very good way to monitor your video during production as you can see the actual quality on a monitor/TV rather than just your computer screen, which has limited capability to show you the actual video quality.) It includes composite & s-video inputs and outputs; stereo audio inputs & outputs; Firewire input & output.
The ADVC-300 is also bidirectional and includes composite, s-video and component video i/o (D1 connector) inputs & outputs; stereo audio inputs & outputs; Firewire input & output; and software that enables you to tweak its video settings. Helpful in cleaning up particularly bad analog videos.
I've used these things for years and they all work great. I do not believe there is any difference in the internal conversion hardware ... The primary differences are support for one-way vs. bidirectional conversion; input/output connectors; and the software that comes with the ADVC-300.
If you have basically clean analog video, any of these units will be fine. You can use any analog source (VHS deck, camcorder, DVD player, etc.) and would typically use iMovie or Final Cut Express to capture your video on a Mac.

• Analog to digital converter advice

Anyone have any thoughts or tips on using this analog to digital converter with a VCR and CS6? Has anyone used one of these before?

Thanks.

Page 13 has the guide for the dip switches.
You can also test if you get a better result by applying set up or otherwise in switch 2.
BTW - how old are the VHS tapes and what do they look like before digitising them?
Are they PALor NTSC originally?
(The box wont do a great job of converting them either so stick to what they are ).

• Analog to Digital Converter-- What's A Good Product For My System?

What would be a good analog to digital converter for Final Cut Express HD 3.5 on a Mac OSX 10.4 system? I've used a Canopus on a MacPro with Final Cut Pro before and liked it, but wasn't sure what would be a good product for my macbook. I've looked at the Canopus advc-110 and 55 but am not clear on the difference and if it would work with what I have.

• Premiere Pro 1.5: Best analog to digital converter for BNC?

Recently I've been looking for an external analog to digital converter (that connects via firewire)that will work with Premiere Pro 1.5 for capturing uncompressed digital video from any source, whether it be BNC composite from a U-Matic to S-VHS via S-Video (either DIN or Y/C BNC) to Betacam SP BNC Component.  It would also be nice if it could import digital sources (i.e. DVCPRO 50/Digital Betacam) as well by SDI.
I've looked at a few by AJA or Blackmagic, but I'm not sure if they would work with Premiere Pro 1.5 on Windows XP SP3.
Does anyone know of a good converter?

I have NO IDEA if it will work with everything you list, but do some reading at http://www.grassvalley.com/products/converters

• Which is the best Analog to Digital Converter

Hey everyone,
Im new to this movie making digital world.  I have been using imovie for a while and looking to upgrade to FCP.  Before I spend the money, just a few questions hoping someone would know the answers.
1:  Can I use idvd to burn my movies with FCP?
2:  Im need an analog to digital converter, but not sure which one to get.  I have VHS, Hi8, mini DV, etc...     Which converter is best with mac, specifically with FCP?
3: Does FCP work well with an external harddrive?
Thanks...

1. Yes
2. Canopus and DataVideo are popular but some camcorders have a built in A-D converter. Note that Mini-DV works without needing a converter. Just plug in your camera with FireWire.
3. Yes

• 32" Toshiba Regza - can i used digital to analog optical audio converter?

32AV700A - 32" Toshiba Regza
Can I use digital to analog optical audio converter?
My objective is not to use LCD TV internal speakers as it's really bad since the the speakers are on the back. If i use the digital optical cable and plug in to the converter, can all my DVD and other devices connected to the LCD TV play to 1 external audio source instead internal speakers?

Thanks for the suggestion.
I got a bit more noise but still no coherent sound.

Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

• Analog to dv converter should be included in macs

Can anyone explain why apple has not included an analog to dv card in their computers. Seems to me that a lot of people use their macs for this purpose, but finding a decent analog to dv converter (Ihad a formac studio box that recently quit on me, 3 years old!!!!)is like looking for a pot of gold!!!!

I wish at least one of my macs came with a converter! I have so many VCR and 8mm tapes on my old consumer cam corder that I want to convert and I found this post browsing around for a converter! I'm ready to put everything into Final Cut and edit it. I want to save everything on DVD and send some DVD's to my family who Live in Puerto Rico. I know from a commercial point of view most of the footage may not come in like this any more but I have a lot of family's kids who grew up and are getting married and stuff and I want to give DVDs to them of their grandparents and etc, etc. So I tried to cheat today! I connected my old camcorder's RCA cables to the aux input on my digital cable box because the Comcast cable box has a firewire port. The picture was great on the TV but I found out the firewire ports on those HD boxes are disabled! The HDMI port is enabled but I don't think there is a converter to go from HDMI to firewire so that I can capture on my mac. Any recommendations?
