FLEXnet Licensing Service

I would like to know the function of the FLEXnet Licensing Service service in a windows 7 laptop where adobe creative suite CS3, original product, and / or free download as adobe reader or flash reader are installed.  Going to the process associated to this service a iexplorer.exe *32 is highlighted. Sometimes flash reader does not work or crash inside applications in the web or pdf web site documents are not available to be open or they close suddenly.
Thanks in advance for any information you may provide

The Flexnet Licensing service is used by most Adobe products to prevent piracy. When you mess with it, you are asking for trouble. Restore it to its origial state.

Today I installed Adobe Director 11.5. I received a couple of errors in the FLEXnet Licensing Service. It looks It could not start. I tried to download the Licence fix what I found on Google but that doesn't work, so I checked the 'Service' at service (windows).
It's status is empty. When I double click on the FLEXnet Licensing Service, clicked on start at the opened window and an error is coming:
Windows could not start the FLEXnet Licensing Service service on Local Computer
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.
I don't understand what it says with this message, only that it is impossible to start. However, that is not what I am trying of course, I want to start the FLEXnet Licensing Service, service.
Re-installing of the software, doesn't make any change. How can I start it so Director is also working?

  • FLEXnet Licensing Service hanging PC and hard drive paging

Today I found the service "FLEXnet Licensing Service" listed and was wondering what was using it.  I decided to stop it and disable it.  While going about my business today I noticed that another problem disappeared from my PC.  Once I went to look at a docuemnt in acrobat 9 it told me I had to reinstall due to a problem.  I remembered I disabled the "FLEXnet Licensing Service" service this morning.  So I change the service from disable to manual, opened Acrobat with a document and my PC hung with the hard drive light on constantly.
I just scoured google with the term FLEXnet Licensing Service and hanging and noticed some threads.
    Is this a known issue?

  • OT - FLEXnet Licensing Service

Does anybody have any insight as to the FLEXnet Licensing Service -
I have been troubleshooting a situation where printing from many/most applications causes a program hang and/or crash.
In a period of digital housekeeping recently I disabled an Adobe Service related to CS4 - I don't recall the particulars - license checking or update checking. (I have stopped using the CS4 suite aside from Acrobat 9)
I noticed a FLEXnet folder in my C:\Program Data  which contains nearly identicle log and data file entries for adobe_00080000 and esko_00426a00, both with recent time stamps and entries
Printing from Outlook crashes the program most of the time. Printing from Adobe apps is hit & miss.
    Quite frustrating

    In a nutshell, I'm a printer.
Currently most instances of "Print" disable/lock up the program, all of which recover just fine, but can you imagine the frustration? (fwiw, I don't get frustrated; I have many tools available to me. In a pinch, I can drag files to a RIP)
Appliactions frequently locking or which hang excessivley include InDesign CS5.5, Acrobat 9 Pro, Outlook & Word.
I question the FLEXnet service only becuase I have a log (somewhere) with entries concurrent to the hangs.
I want to avoid mucking things up further. Perhaps I'll uninstall CS4 - I won't be able to downsave a CS5.5 all the way to CS2 anymore, no loss there
But there is the uncertainty if CS4 uninstall will remove all entries, and Acrobat 9 was probably part of the 4 Suite...
You two are savvy - Print locks up application - suggetions?
(Google searches for this aren't hitting a good revelance. 99% of results relate to specific apps and/or drivers)

  • Error 148:3 and FlexNet Licensing Service

I have been bothered with Windows event  of  "event 7000, adfsservice not
    started" during boot-up.
After long investigation I found killing "FLEXNET Licensing Servive" resolves
    this problem.
Note that this service was not and is not running ever on my machine anyway.
On the other hand, I occasionaly experience Error 148:3 when starting CS4.
    (I am a licensed user :-)  )
Thie error happens before and after the modification of FLEXNET disablement.
I, today, was informed that the FLEXNET is for CS4 licensing check.
    Now,
Is the error 148:3 related to my machines no FLEXNET serivice?
If so, how can I resolve this problem?
    Tak

I had the same error and going through Control Panel / Admin / Services solved the problem.  I can now open DreamWeaver.
    Thank you.
Oh, for what it is worth, just before this error 148:3 happened to me in DW, I upgraded from IE 6 to IE 8, and then added SP3 to my XP Pro operating system.

  • Photoshop CS3 Macrovision Flexnet Licensing problem

HI I have a Lenovo 9129-A3m ThinkCentre running Vista 32 Business with 4gigs ram.
I can not get Photoshop to run, I am pretty sure it is because the Flexnet licensing is not working, when I run Photoshop it just sits on a gray screen with the hour glass spinning around.
I have tried uninstalling Photoshop, using the Wincs3clean and also manually deleting the files, including the Macrovision Flexnet ones.
When I goto reinstall Photoshop it doesn't as for the license key and just installs.
When I restart it just hangs on the gray screen, using Process explorer I can see the the two services from Macrovision (FNPLicensingService.exe and another program which I can remember at the moment) are just sitting there and I have to stop them to try and relaunch Photoshop.
I don't really want to do a reload of Vista of possible! Any ideas? How can I delete the stored license key in Vista for Photoshop, maybe that's the problem?

The license keys themselves are stored in the All Users AppData part. somewhere. This won't help you, though, I'm afraid. The service would not even initialize without them. Since it doesn't throw any warnings, it must mean that those files are valid and intact. The interesting question however is, why it fails to load the activation screen (which is really your problem, not PS). Are you blocking any ports with your firewall? Any security tools running? UAC and DEP? I'd definitely try to disable any such tools/ options. In addition, create a new user account with administrative privileges. It's quite possible that Windows' own prefetch cache for services is acting up. If these suggestions don't fix the matter, call support. Install issues are free of charge and they surely can provide better guidance than our guessing here on forums. ;-)

  • FlexNET Licensing doesn't work!!

    Hi there,
I've bought some Adobe Suites some days ago, and the
Dreamweaver CS3 for my computer. The other Suites work fine so far
(We're using Windows Vista Business in the Company), but I can't
get my Dreamweaver running. First i thought it was because of some
old Dreamweaver files on my Harddisk, so I deinstalled, used
CS3Clean and re-installed several times with no success. Then I
found that fix with setting the permissions on the FlexNET
directory and removing the files and so on. It didn't help either.
I'm pretty sure it's not Dreamweaver making troubles here but the
Licensing service. when I set it to disabled Dreamweaver loads
perfectly just to tell me that I can't use it because of licensing
    issues.
Has anybody a clue what could help?
    best regards

After 24 Hours of crap, many phone calls, forum searches,
google searches, dreamweaver.exe traces and hacks. I have the
solution. It is related to SATA drivers and the lack of direct
    access support for Macrovison's FLEXnet.

I´m looking for a office web apps server 2013 (OWS) download.
In the following blog Microsoft is announcing that the OWS is moving from the Download Center to the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_sustained_engineering/archive/2014/10/22/web-apps-server-removal-from-download-center.aspx
    So far so good
But in my VLSC are only Updates and Service Packs for the OWS. But no download for the OWS!
Is this only my problem? Any ideas to solve this problem?

I would like to use the KMS server to activate many Windows 2008 R2 server, however, Error message "0xC004F050 The software licensing service reported that the product key is invalid" is appear when adding Windows Server 2008R2 KMS Key. The Windows

    Command used:

    Anyone can help? thanks.

    Hi Samson,
Based on my research, we need to choose associated KMS key based on the highest product being deployed in the product grouping hierarchy.
To choose the right Volume License key, please refer to this article:
How to Choose the Right Volume License Key for Windows
Please type the cmd "slmgr /dlv" on KMS Host and check if it has been activated successfully.
After configure KMS host, By default these KMS client computers will query DNS and locate your KMS host and activate
    KMS Client Setup Keys
To reset computers to be KMS clients type the following at elevated command prompt:
    Slmgr.vbs /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
Where xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx is the generic VL key from the following link.

  • Control Panel won't open/Software License Service fails to run

I'm not sure what happened, I had left my computer on sleep for about 4 hours, I came back and I was getting these UAC messages even when I was opening elevated mode for task manager.  Soon I realized my control panel won't open.  After some googling, the problem was apparently linked to a service called Software License Service and it was either caused by virus(but I have avast..) or files that somehow got corrupted. I had:  updated my system using Thinkvantage system update + did a system backup+ ran memtest86+ + turned off AMT + turned off Intel onscreen display.  That's all I did before this happened. The error code I get when I try to start control panel through cmd is Error 34 (don't know what this means).  And Software license service won't start.
*control panel opens fine in safe mode
*ran sfc, there were problems that 'couldn't be repaired'
    1. Is there any way to fix this, ie is there a hotfix available or something I can just download and install?
2.Any idea what might have possibly caused this?
    3. I did a quick restore using the backup I did and the problem was still not fixed.  Will a full restore help or will I have to resort to factoy restore?
Thanks.  *having so many problems with the new thinkpad + vista =/*
    I have a T400(2764-CTO) 32 bit on vista business.

  • Windows 7 KMS Licensing Service on S12

The Windows 7 KMS Licensing Service can not work on my lenovo S12(via nano).  It shows an error code as followed:
    0xC004F035
    Description:
The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be
activated with a Volume license product key. Volume-licensed systems require
upgrading from a qualifying operating system. Please contact your system
administrator or use a different type of key.
However, the computer is shipped without operating system.  After web browsing, I fuond the problem may lie in the BIOS .  There is a label [SLIC] shows in the ACPI table name list.  An improper version of Windows System may be wrote into the BIOS.  It seems like I need a newer version of BIOS firnware to clear out the SLIC to pass the KMS Licensing Service.  I called lenovo's local technical support, but it appears that they did not realize this problem.  Is there any newer version of BIOS firnware to solve this problem?

    Hello MKBF and welcome.
The problem is not the BIOS, but a Microsoft license issue.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938450
about half way down the page:
    Cause
This issue may occur because volume editions are licensed for upgrade only. Installation of a volume operating system on a computer that does not have a qualifying operating system installed is not supported.
    Workaround
To work around this issue, install a qualifying version of a Microsoft operating system, and then reinstall the volume operating system.
A Windows XP installation should do ... or maybe just the /i386 folder from XP on the hard drive? - Or you need to buy a more expensive Windows 7 key.
