Flexographic Distortion/Scaling Causing Problems... Help!

Hello.
I am having an issue with the printing end of InDesign (Cs3 Version 5.04).
I'm trying to distort a document for Flexographic printing purposes.
The dots in screened areas are changing causing the image to change/degrade.
The screened areas are in text so it's very noticable because the hard edges of the text become jagged with dots after 'Scaling' for distortion (Print>Setup>Options>Scale>Height%>*unchecked constrained proportions).
Image degredation is only present  in film after doing this in InDesign. Quality is fine printing at a constrained 100%.
This problem is not happening when I send the same image in a Quark document scaled down using there FlexScale extension.
The document consists of a placed Photoshop.TIFF file of some greyscale screened type, nothing crazy.
Any & all help will be greatly appreciated .... ideas & theories are good as well...

Yay!!!!! It worked!!!!! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
Creating, placing, & scaling a pdf in the document had the same result as I was getting from scaling in the print dialouge box.
The second work around was perfect! Placing the document in a new document & scaling that with the scaling factor was the ticket!
I really appreciate your answer .
BTW, I'm using an Agfa Apogee PDF RIP Series 2 v1.0 & the imagesetter is an Agfa Accuset 1000 printing seperations.
The is always more than one way to skin a cat right?!
I'll "workaround" 'til the cows come home as long as it "works".
Thanks!

  • Windows 7 DPI scaling causes problems in VMware Player

    Hi there,
I'm running Windows 7 x86 Professional and VMware Player 3.0.0. Windows 7 is set to 150% larger fonts (DPI scaling).
If I start VMware Player with this DPI setting the guest VM is scaled aswell. If I set Windows 7 NOT to use DPI scaling only for VMware Player about 25% of the guest's screen is unreachable (lower-right). (See this screenshot: http://pix.sonhult.se/vmware.jpg)
The guest is running Ubuntu 9.10 x86.
Have anyone else been experimenting with DPI scaling and VMware Player? Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

I know this is a thread necro but it's kinda hilarious and sad. I just searched the forums for "player dpi" and here I stumble upon my own post on the subject over five years ago.
This time I'm running VMware Player version 11.1.0.58002 on a Windows 7 SP1 host where I've got the DPI set to 125%. I ran a Visual Studio tool called Spy++ while one of my VMs is compacting and it shows this information for that window:
    Window (id) "VMware Player" (Dialog)
--- Window (id) "Compacting virtual disk..." Static
    --- Window (id) "" msctls_progress32
    --- Window (id) "Cancel" Button
At 125% DPI I've never seen the Cancel button.
Besides continuing to be indifferent to people who don't have perfect eyesight, this problem is going to occur more frequently when 4K displays become more popular with businesses. People will need to use much higher DPI to be able to read the fonts at those super-high resolutions.

  • Hi all!!! IOS 7.2.1 causing problems, Help

I have trouble with my iphone 4s after i upgraded to IOS 7.2.1.
    - i was having an old version of IOS 6XX until suddenly the phone got crazy and started making moves on its own, like open apps or calling people, like the phone was possessed. I decided after reset ( press close and home bottom 10 sec, where nothing changed) to upgrade. The available version was IOS 7.2.1.
    - The downlod got stuck in the middel, but i managed to open it anyway, but the dock didn't Work.
    - i decided to re-upgrade the phone, but this time with itunes, everything was fine, but the dock (with the apps calls, mail, music and safari) does not Work. And the lower apps in command center doesn't Work either (flash light, calculator, Photos...etc.)
    - to sum op, it looks like the lower part of the phones is not working, but it Works fine in most apps, f. eks. no problem taking Pictures.
Please any suggestion will be appreciated!

After 2 days using the new update i can tell, that the update seems not at all desined for iphones 4s, but for 5, 5s and 5c. This conclusion is made out of that the system in 4s became unstable and slow. This Means that Apple like many other electronics producers are careless about its older costumers  and want them probably to buy a new phone as Windows/microsoft has done in a long time producing updates that make computres slow and unstable.
I have found out that the update does not Work good with the Camara, as mention earlier. I have to turn the phone upside Down to make it Work with the bottons in the lower side of the screen. This problem repeats again in many apps, like Nike (running program), and this *****. This seems like the update have  overdimensioned the phone, like the screen should be bigger than it actually is....ahhhh maybe like the 5 series!!!!
On the other side, no other complains about this topic/issue/problem yet, makes me wander...why not...it can not be only me.... i have done the update many times.... starting from the phone its self.... from itunes (Windows compatible)..... from my macbook air... and nothing...same F* problem.
The phone is a working Tool...i don't have time to this kind of UPSSSSSS!

  • My Mac is 15 months old and all of a sudden it has started resetting the time and date then I get a message saying not all apps will work because of the pre Jan date any help as to why ? Causing problems with wireless router.

My Mac book pro is 15 months old and now suddenly it has started resetting the date and time, causing problems with applications and my wireless access. Any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

Seems the time isn't being saved to your computer correctly, it may be a corrupt file that isn't saving the time anymore.
    You can move the
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
file out of your Users/Library/Preferences folder to the desktop and reboot.
then go to your System Preferences > Date and Time and set a time server close to your location (or in your time zone)
(trash the file on the desktop if no ill issues occur later on)
or you can follow/bookmark these support docs to reset your PRAM and SMC (and for future reference)

I don't remember exactly where OS X is keeping it time settings now, but I think one of those choices should help resolve your issue and won't hurt anything giving them a shot. Perhaps someone else could refresh my memory.

  • Imovie 11 is not showing the photos all phots in the preview window. it either shows as black or teh previous photo, but distorted. Can anyone help?

im working on a project, and have done many before, I have just updated to the lastest Imovie update, and all of a sudden, on certain photos when I add them into the project, some of them either show as black, or show the previous photo, but distorted.
I have tried re-starting and, doing a new project with the photos that dont work in, and they work in the new project, I've also re-done the thumbnails in Iphoto as suggested on other websites, but tat dosnt work either - this is really annoying.
Has anyone come across this or know how to fix it?
    Thanks

Did you by any chance upgrade your Mac OS from version 10.6 (Snow Leopard) to 10.7 (Lion) during the time you were working in iMovie on all these projects?
If not, start by deleting the iMovie Preferences file.
    Go to the Desktop
Hold down the Option key and choose the Go Menu > Library
    Go to Preferences > com.apple.iMovieApp.plist
Move the .plist file to the trash and restart iMovie
See if the Project files react any differently. Failing that try doing a Repair Disk Permissions:
Restart the Mac, hold down the Option key continuously until 2 hard drive icons appear
Choose the Recovery Volume as your startup disk and let it run until you see the Desktop
Choose Disk Utility from the Recovery Menu
Run Repair Disk Permissions in Disk Utility
Reboot the Mac and when you see the Desktop appear launch iMovie
See if the Project files are the same or different. Next step after this is to one at a time take the Project folders out of users/me/movies/imovie projects. Move one to the desktop and start iMovie. Try skimming the projects that acted up recently. Moving one project at a time might help isolate which project may be causing problems. You can also place project folders back in their original location after doing this testing and iMovie will recognize them on the next relaunch. It won't hurt anything.

  • I want to uninstall ReloadEvery as I think it is causing problems however it is not in my list of Extensions or Plugins yet it is clearly installed, I tried reinstalling FF but it was still there! How can I get rid of it?

I installed ReloadEvery a while ago and it seemed to be working fine however I am now having problems with FF crashing and weird things like pages not reloading and not being able to use the back button etc
I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling FF and upgrading to FF 4.
When I upgraded to FF 4 I was still having problems even though I didn't have any Extensions installed at all, or so I thought. I noticed that ReloadEvery was still installed. I was rather puzzled as I had done a clean install of FF 4. I want to remove ReloadEvery to see if it will solve my problems.
I have also tried following the help on the FF Troubleshooting about manually uninstalling Extensions but again ReloadEvery not listed there yet I am still able to use it in FF!
I want to get rid of it!! I really need some help please.

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the <i>cookies.sqlite</i> file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

  • FF 3.6 AND 5 on same Mac, 1 profile - can I uninstall 5 without causing problems running 3.6 or with the profile?

I upgraded from 3.6.16 to 5, but don't like how 5 handles tabs (auto reloading 'problem loading' tabs when internet connection is reestablished). So I installed 3.6 in a separate folder, e.g. both versions are on this computer. I went back to using 3.6, and let it upgrade to either 3.6.18 or 19 (don't recall which & it's not open right now). I'm having problems with it using too much CPU & Memory, and not sure if that's a difference between 3.6.16 & 3.6.18/19, or if having 5 on the same computer even if closed could be causing the problem.
Can I uninstall 5 without causing problems with the 3.6 version and the single profile?

If you haven't tried this, give it a try. It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you. In your version 3 firefox, disable all extensions, I had two plugins (doubletwist and joost, disable those if you have them). Then install firefox 5 by overwriting your version 3 firefox. It should work fine after that. I tried everything before, I gave that a last ditch shot. Oh yeah, before you install firefox 5, clear your cache of everything just to be sure.
    Hopefully that helps.

  • TS3579 I found this useful because I did not know about the effect of typing in data and that you could only drag to rearrange the data.  I had typed in data before and this had caused problems but restoring defaults did not cause correct dates to show up

I found this  (TS3579: If the wrong date or time is displayed in some apps on your Mac Learn about If the wrong date or time is displayed in some apps on your Mac) useful because I did not know about the effect of typing in data and that you could only drag to rearrange the data.  I had typed in data before and this had caused problems but restoring defaults did not cause correct dates to show up in Finder.

It sounds like there are a couple things going on here.  First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance.  Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error.  If you get an error, post the error message your hitting.  If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect.  If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog.  Ex:  "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name.  However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format.  Ex:  COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install.  Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

Seems you are having socket time out exception. I use to get the same while deploying on XP with (640MB RAM) but able to re-run after freeing some memory. Creator needs optimally atleast 1GB RAM. You have not mentioned your machine RAM...

  • I deleted the 4oD app from my iPad but it still appears in the list in Settings. How do I get rid of that? It is causing problems when they issue updates as it apparently thinks I still have it when I don't.

Can any one help me get rid of a deleted app 4oD that still appears in the Settings list. I deleted it from the home screen and Spotlight search confirms it has gone. It is causing problems because I get notified of updates and I cannot get rid of them either. I have tried re-downloading via my MacBook because there isn't a download option from the iPad (App Store clearly think I still have it when I don't) then deleting again but the listing in Settings remains.
    It is really irritating me.
    Thanks.

Have you tried deleting the App within the Settings menu (rather than from the Home Screen)?
    Settings>General>Usage>
From the Apps list, find the App (press "Show all Apps" if the app is not in the immediately shown list), tap on the app you wish to delete, then tap "Delete App"

  • If I install the update to Adobe Reader 10, will that cause problems with Acrobat Pro 9?

Firefox (version 15.0.1) is telling me I need to install an update to Adobe Acrobat 9.4 in order to view pdf files in my browser. I use Acrobat Pro 9. The update is actually Adobe Reader 10, and I am wondering if I install this, will it cause problems with my version of Acrobat Pro?
Because I am not sure if this is so, I have temporarily disabled the plug-in and now pdf files download automatically rather than display in my browser. I would prefer they open in my browser but do not want to upgrade to Acrobat X.
My OS is Windows Vista. I did not include the "troubleshooting information" file because I'm not sure what specific info is being requested.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi WMdotcom
did you try to view pdf with your acrobat pro 9 ?

You can wipe the iPad's contents completely by going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. This will remove all of the previous user's apps, data, settings and so on from the iPad and you can set it up as your own.

my host name changes every few days, since Xmas adding a macbook its changed 6 times. Do I need to stop this? Does it cause problems with sharing between the iMac and macbook?

There are several possible causes for this problem.
    1. Two (or more) computers on the local network have the same Bonjour name, such as "X's-MacBook-Pro.local".
    2. You have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. If applicable, disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
    3. A Mac wakes from sleep due to network traffic. This is due to a bug in OS X that may only affect some models.
    4. A device that gets its network address from the router wakes from sleep, and the address it was using before has been assigned to another device.
    5. A third-party wireless router has incompatible settings or firmware. In that case, refer to the manufacturer or ISP for support. Restarting the router may help, temporarily.
    6. See also this support article.
Rename the computer in the Sharing preference pane.

Welcome to the HP Forums Hinalover,
I see by your post that you are having issues with the print spooler on the Windows 7 computers.
I can help you with this issue.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
Try running the Microsoft Fix It Tool to see if it will fix the print spooler.
Diagnose and repair Windows File and Folder Problems automatically.
You can also run the System File Checker to repair corrupted or missing files.
System File Checker: Run sfc /scannow & analyze its logs in Windows 7 | 8.
You might end up having to do a repair of Windows.
Please let me know the results.
    Have a nice day!

im in an office with some other macs and one or two pc's
we have a 'Guest Share' Raid drive which we share files on and we publish magazines
Anywya deadlines looming and i was busy editing photos in photoshop, my colleague was shutting down her computer (dno idea if that is relevent but just incase) when photoshop seemed to freeze, i force quit, and discovered the folder for the new issue of the magazine containing all the files, photos etc seemed to be causing problems, whether i browsed there from photoshop or just clicked on the folder in finder whatever i was using would crash, finder simply crashed and restarted immediatley
Any ideas? tried restarting both comps, and i tried just copying the folder onto my desktop by dragging it so the click did not try to load it's contents, which worked but the copyed folder is no better, still cant open it without crashes.
