Flickering background render speedometer, will not render

Hi,
Using FCPX 10.1.1 (this also happend with 10.1) and I have background rendering checked it the preferences.  FCPX will not auto render when I leave the system idle for the ammount of time I have input into the prefs.  The little speedometer that shows background task completness is just flickering between 100% and 0%.  I can manually render clips under modify>render clips, but it won't do it "in the background".
I have "Prevent App Nap" checked in the info window of the FCPX app.
Anyone else experniening this?

This has only happened once for me – and that was using an early version. In my case, trashing renders fixed it for good; but it's possible I also deleted preferences, since it's the first thing I do when the app acts up. So try that as well.
If this is a project-specific thing, try pasting a copy of the problem timeline into a fresh project.

  • My iPod has a flickering black screen and will not turn on. What can I do?

I accidentally left my iPod in my car for a few hours. It reached about 80 degrees outside, so I am worried. It did not turn on at all. Afterwards, I let it cool down and it still will not turn on. I plugged it into my laptop (PC) and it still does nothing. If flickers between two shades of black, but it does not do anything. I am starting to think it may have affected the battery. I have been experiencing problems with it not wanting to turn on without being plugged in for months now, but I did not really do anything about it.
I need help. I do not know what to do, so any form of help will be greatly apreciated!

I was afraid of this, to be honest. I kind of figured that I broke it completely.
I no longer have a warranty on it because I have had it for about three years, so I do not even know if it is worth taking in or if I would be better off with buying a new one.
If I were to replace the battery, would that help with the display or would it still be flickering a black screen?

  • How do I restore images and backgrounds. Hide images and backgrounds will not unclick.

Back grounds in email cannot be restored
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I clicked on "hide images and backgrounds" and it will not unclick.

Check the image exceptions: Tools > Options > Content: Load Images: Exceptions - See [[Options window - Content panel]]
A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (''Site Identification'' icon) on the left side of the location bar and click the "More Information" button.
This will open the Security tab of the ''Page Info'' window (also accessible via Tools > Page Info).
Go to the ''Media'' tab of that Page Info window.
Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow.
If an image is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box ''Block Images from...'' then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • Persistent shadow on Illustrator Interface will not go away.

I am on Win 7, 64-bit, 20 gb RAM. Using CS 6 (Cloud).
I have this strange shadow that looks like a pop-out menu once occupied that space, on my interface background.
It will not go away permanently.
Everyday when I first start Illustrator, I have to go to Preferences==>User Interface and change the background color.
That makes it go away temporarily. But when I restart, it comes right back.
This is SUPER annoying. Anyone have any ideas?

No, that was not the case, the photo was cropped, here is the full photo. Additionally, it shows over the artwork, as shown .

  • Audio will not render

I've googled this problem with no solution. When I select any variation of the Render Audio/All commands, the progress bar flickers on screen at 0% then closes. The audio remains unrendered as does the red bar above it. I cannot render any audio regardless of the type (music, dialogue, etc).
Previous projects can play their already existing, rendered audio. Any new audio introduced will not render, regardless.
Currently, I have to export the audio to Soundtrack and export the track as an AIFF to render it. This works, but it's slowing me down.
I've checked my scratch disk, and I still have 28 GB of space left. My projects are small and any audio rendering shouldn't require much horsepower.
I'm using FCP HD Express 3.5 on an iMac G4.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Thanks! Your suggestion did the trick. The tick wasn't there, and it forced me to examine the other Render options. I selected "Render Only" - red bar and it worked!

  • AIR application with Flex 4.5 will not render content. What gives?

    OK,
So I've upgraded to Flash Builder 4.5 Premium and I am unable to develop desktop AIR applications with the 4.5 Flex SDK. I start by simply creating a brand new AIR application using the default SDK (Flex 4.5). I set the title property on WindowedApplication and include a simple Label component. The project compiles fine but when I run the application all I see is the adl window in the dock but that's it. If I modify the Main-app.xml file to set the visible attribute to true, I will get a small window but there is no content although the output window shows the application swf being loaded. Checking the release version of the Main-app.xml file shows the correct path location to the swf.
Here is what I've tried so far:
    Install/reinstall Flash Builder, 4+ times
    Downloaded the trial installation twice
Downloaded the SDK's for 3.6, 4.1 and 4.5.0. I then copied each SDK folder and merged the AIR 2.6 SDK with each copy. So now I have 6 SDK versions; one pristine and the other with the AIR 2.6 SDK merged. I then added each SDK individually and created an AIR desktop application for each. Each and every one works fine with the exception of the two 4.5 SDK's. They will not render content.
I created a simple creation complete handler for the application that declares a simple variable and assigns a value to it. I then put a break point on the assignment and it never gets caught. More evidence that the swf isn't getting loaded.
The computer I'm running on is a Mac Book Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.7. If I create a web project in each of the 6 SDK's, those will work just fine. What the heck is it with Flex 4.5 and the AIR 2.6 SDK on this machine? I have the AIR 2.6 runtime installed as well as a number of AIR applications that work just fine. I also tried my 4.5 test on my windows machine and that worked like a champ.
I am completely out of ideas. Finding information has been difficult because everyone is all about mobile so searching for desktop issues is a losing battle. I realize this is a long email but I'm desperate for help. There must be someone out there that knows more about the low level interaction between Flex 4.5/AIR 2.6 and the OS.

Well, I finally found the issue, a corrupted mm.cfg file in /Library/Application Support/Macromedia. I deleted the file and then adl ran just fine.

  • Imovie will not render photos with ken burns effect

I have started to produce a video and have tried to import photos from both iphotos and straight from desktop however when i do this the red bar showing the state of rendering does not move. Hi
What file type is Your photos eg .tiff, .pict or .jpg ?
What size are they eg 1Mb, 10Mb or 100Mb ?
How much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disc ?
Ps When ready - Don't use Share/Export to iDVD from within iMovie. Just drop Your movie icon
(with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
OR - Your movie project in iMovie will be harmed and You'll have to re-do it ! ! AND
the DVD disc will be severely pixelated - extreme low quality Ds

  • Rendering - Final Cut will not render clips under any of the 3 choices?

Final Cut will not render clips mov, or dv under any of the 3 choices, including stuff I have done before.

I realize your problem is solved, but I thought I would post this is case it might helps others in the future.
Under Sequence-->Render--> OR Sequence-->Render All--> OR Sequence-->Render Only--> make sure you have check marks next to all the different video types ("Needs Render", "Proxy", etc).
If there is no check mark, then the video won't render - and this can sometimes seem random, like what happened in your case.

  • Missing render file/project will not render

I'm new to using FCE - just got my iMac with FCE pre-installed a few weeks ago - and have run into a big problem with current project. When I open the program, it tells me one render file is offline and I can reconnect or continue. I have no idea where the file could possibly have gone, so I select 'continue'. But now the project will not render. I have four sequences open in the project file, and have tried everything - locking and unlocking tracks, selecting various combinations of render both, render all, render selection, rendering only audio or video, etc. All the appropriate render selections are checked in every option. But still, the project won't render any of the sequences; the render box comes up for a split second and goes away faster than the eye can follow. I've tried setting the scratch disk; that didn't help. I tried saving the project, closing and opening the project, etc. Nothing helps. It just won't render. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this problem?

When I say it won't render, I literally mean nothing happens when I hit the render command. I see the red timeline render bars. However, I see them only when I go to export the video as something else - a mov, dv stream, etc. In the project while working, there's nothing indicating render is required.
To try and solve this problem of the missing audio clip, I opened a new project and imported the .mov file I was working with initially, which theoretically should have all its parts intact. I made the necessary modifications to the file (essentially starting all over) and then attempted to render. It still won't render. Nothing happens at all when I click any of the render options, even after I've made modifications to the video that would clearly require render - changing the aspect ratio and applying a widescreen video filter. So the program should recognize the changes and render, but nothing happens, whether I choose render from the menu or hit the keyboard shortcut.
I'm a little hesitant to try scrapping the preferences as suggested above, but I am totally perplexed.

  • IDVD failed to render movies...will not burn

  • Suddenly fla will not render to swf; freeze; CS3

I have been making swf's for a long time, but suddenly today, my last one for a project,
it will not render, and program freezes solid.  What should I do?  The fla seems ok.
preview in html will not work.  Restarts and permissions did not work.
    AS 2.0 Flash CS3

In case anyone else has this problem, I solved it myself before getting any response from Adobe. I am on a Mac and the problem was a corrupted FLEXnet Publisher (the licensing system) caused, I think, by making a bootable clone of my HD.  Adobe has the solutions here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/error-licensing-stopped-mac-os.html.
In my case I just deleted the Flexnet Publisher folder from HD>Library>Preferences and replaced it with an older backed-up version and then CS3 worked again.
If you are on a PC google Adobe Flexnet Publisher and there are solutions out there.

  • Videos Will Not Render.

I have been working on some videos recently and Adobe Premiere Elements 9 has been working great for me.... Until today.
When I try to render the videos which had successfully rendered beforehand, they will not render! But it WILL render .05 of a second of a clip. This problem has just risen today and it is annoying the daylights outta me. A bit of backround, I use a portable hard drive to hold all the footage when I make a video because the computers I use do not have enough space to hold all my footage. But this is kinda second guessed because when I make a new file on the pc I am using at the time, make a title, and give it a rendered effect, it will  still do the same thing.
I hope to hear from someone soon.

    Welcome to the forum.
Just to make sure that I am on the same page, as you, when you say "render," you are speaking of hitting the Enter/Return key, to Render the Timeline, for the smoothest playback. Is that correct?
Now, on your Timeline, when you make a changes, such as adding an Effect, or any sort of overlay, such as a Transition, PiP, or an overlay Title, you will get a red line above that Clip, or portion of a Clip. If one hits the Enter/Return key, ONLY that/those section(s) with the red lines, will Render. However, if I read correctly, you are getting the red lines, BUT not all of that/those Clip(s) will Render. Is that correct?
When only part of a Timeline Renders, the first two things to check are the position/length of the WAB (Work Area Bar). That can become accidentally set to too small a portion of the Timeline. The easiest way to make sure that the WAB has been extended to the full Timeline is to hit the \ (Backslash key), to zoom out to see the full Timeline, and then find the little "box" in the middle of the WAB. Dbl-click on that, to make sure that it has expanded to cover 100% of the Timeline.
The next thing to check, is has an In, or Out Point been set on the Timeline. This can happen accidentally, if the CTI (Current Time Indicator) has been set to some point other than 00;00;00;00, or the full Duration of the Timeline, and the I (eye key) for In Point, or the O (oh key) for Out Point has been hit. The way to look for an In Point, or Out Point on the Timeline, is to look at the Time Ruler, and see if it is a different shade of gray, over Clips, before the end of the Timeline.
If neither the WAB, or a Timeline In/Out Point has gotten set, I have a question: where are the Scratch Disks for that Project set? Especially with external HDD's, I have that location set to "Same as Project," so that all Render files, and the Media Cache, etc., are set to that same HDD.
How much defragmented free-space do you have on the HDD, where the Scratch Disks are set?
If to the external HDD, what is its connection type, i.e. eSATA, FW-400/800, USB, etc.?
For the OS, how much defragmented free-space exists on your C:\?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • AP pro 1.5 will not render

Sorry to be repetetive but my project will not render for some reason. THis machine in its current configuration
has worked well in the past and the only difference is that I increased the RAM from 1 gig to 4 gigs. It has been suggested
that I deacivate the program and re-install AP Pro 1.5. Is this a good remedy? The machine is a single core P4 3.6ghz and
has done the job just fine prior to this. The ironic thing is that the project will export to DVD withour being rendered and looks
pretty OK with just a couple of minor hiccups in the picture.
    Thanks
    Mick

    Mick,
If you have the red bar but can see the preview without stuttering or hiccups, there is no need to render. If you have used color correction, multiple layers, some other effects, it may be different. Then the preview may stutter and if you want to see it in all its glory, you need to render. Just the other day I had a very long timeline (5+ hours) that was all red. I had no need to render it at all.
On encoding everything is rendered again, but only for the encoding (unless you tell AME to use Preview Files, which I advise against).

  • Punctuation will not show up even after render

I'm trying to add punctuation (like "." and "?") to my projects but it will not show up in the project and even after I render the movie. Can anyone help me fix this???

There's no good reason that a properly made typeface should not work.
What typeface are you using? There are a few, mostly obscure typefaces that don't have all characters present. In that case, missing characters will be replaced by a box. Is that what you are seeing?
You can confirm the exact contents by looking at the typeface in FontBook, with the View mode set to "Repetoire".
What version of LiveType? If you are using LiveType for a Final Cut project, there's no need to render a movie if your LiveType is version 1.5 or newer. Justy import the project file -it can be treated exactly as if it were a video clip

  • Final Cut Express Will Not Render.

Hello, while working on a very important project for school, Final Cut Express stopped rendering anything, completely. No matter what project, what circumstance, what method I try, It will not render. I need to get this project done NOW and have no where else to turn to.

Do the Render Items have check marks against them in the Sequence>Render All menu?
    Is Capitals Lock switched on?
