Flickering Cursor

I have looked around trying to find a solution to the problem, but nothing seems to be turning up. The problem occurs when I am moving the cursor across the artboard. It flickers from a solid black cursor to a black w/ outline cursor. The flickering also occurs when I am using a tool, or adjusting a bounding box anchor.
This issue is only with Illustrator, and the mouse works fine normally.

I am having the same problem.
The "reduce transparency" thing that fixed the problem for Photoshop users doesn't work at all.
I've contacted support and they were completely useless. They just made me uninstall and reinstall Wacom drivers (as if I didn't think of that myself).
I also tried a complete Illustrator re-install. Nothing changed.
I am using Illustrator CC 2014 on Yosemite.

  • Windows 8.1 update - S440 ThinkPad black screen with flickering cursor.

    Hello,
Sorry if this is answered elsewhere.
I have an S440. I've had it for one week. Two days ago I downloaded the Windows 8.1 update from the store. Since then, when I start up the computer, it doesn't even taken me to the 'sign in' screen. There's just a black screen. When I move the cursor, it briefly appears, flickers, then disappears again.
I understand this is an issue with the graphics drivers. So I ran Windows in safemode and disabled Intel R HD Graphics family and AMD Radeon HD  8600 series graphics drivers.
This, unfortunately, hasn't fixed the problem. It still boots to a black screen with an occasionally flickering cursor. I'm currently running in safemode.
    Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi
I also have an S440 and have tried 3 times to update laptop without success including updating all drivers and updates inc those from Lenovo.
Is there a fix for this? Is this an AMD issue?
My laptop is also very new and cannot believe it is incompatible with windows 8.1.
Tried the compatibility checker with Windows 8.1and it didn't report any problems.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/upgrade-assistant-download-online-faq
Is there anything that can be done to get this working?

  • Flickering Cursor in CS3

    Hi people,
I'm having a flickering cursor on my CS3 photoshop. This is version 10.0.
It disables some functions in PS. I can't type anything in the top bar fields.
    I guess I'll have to start re-using PScs2
    Anybody an idea?

The fastcore and mmxcore errors definitely result from using Photoshop internal plugins from an earlier version. Don't use your CS or CS2 plugins folder as the additional plugins directory for CS3, because that will cause CS3 to try to use not only your third-party plugins (which should work fine) but also the plugins that were shipped with the earlier version of Photoshop.
The best place to put third-party plugins is in a separate directory (e.g., a dedicated Photoshop plugin directory either in the root of a drive or in the My Documents directory. Reference that separate directory as your additional plugins directory in each version of Photoshop and you're good to go.

  • Flickering cursor in cs6

I have a constantly flickering cursor in cs6, from crosshairs to arrow, driving me mad. It has been an occasional problem for a couple of months, quitting Photoshop seemed to solve it until today when i just can't shake it off. It's making the program virtually unusable.

If using Win8 that is a known problem.  Until MS fixes update your video driver, and if that does not work in adv. pref. set gpu to basic.
Please, always include OS so we don't have to guess.

  • Flickering cursor in form?

Hi all, in some of the forms I've been creating, when I mouse over and then out of a field, it sputters/flickers my cursor back and forth between the hourglass and pointer.  Why does this happen, and how can I ultimately stop it?
Thanks for any advice you can provide!

I think Adobe Reader 8 is not supported, revert to 7 perhaps?

  • Logic X - Flickering cursor

    Please can someone help???!!
I recently updated to Mountain Lion and Logic 9 to Logic X. Since then I have had a real problem with my cursor. It flickers between icons and is therefore a nightmare to work with. Its so frustrating and I've googled it to death and can't get a solution. Can anyone save my mental health and help me fix this problem? Please!?
Its guess work at the moment and its making my work take twice as long.
    Thanking you in advance.

    Hi Octopi,
Thanks for your reply and suggestion. I recently updated my hard drive and have Mountain Lion version 10.5.8. So it can't be that. Any other ideas?

  • Flickering cursor in LR5

Yes, yet another cursor issue. MacPro 3.1, OS 10.8.4, dual screens, 6 GB RAM, lots of disk space, LR5 with permissions repaired after loading, Photoshop CS5, good batteries in the mouse
I have gotten used to disappearing cursors in PS and know how to get it back (don't like it, but...). With the loading of LR5 I am having a new problem and that is that any brush turns to just an arrow and it flickers all over the place. Not only does it make it impossible to work but its really visually irriating. Exiting and restarting LR does nothing and can make the mouse movement even more erratic. A total system shutdown is necessary and even that seems randomly time limited in its effectiveness.
In researching it appears that people have been complaining about this and other similar cursor problems since at least 2008. Has anyone figured out a solution because obviously Apple and Adobe either don't give a rats *** about their users or they are incapable of fixing it.  (I'm happy to take out the snarky comment if either company can give me a valid reason why it should take 5 years to fix a flaw that kills half the program's functioning.)

If using Win8 that is a known problem.  Until MS fixes update your video driver, and if that does not work in adv. pref. set gpu to basic.

  • Flickering Cursor with "Watch" Symbol

I am using the latest versions of Acrobat Pro and Mac OS.  Whenever I try to edit text in a PDF, my cursor flickers and changes to a combo cursor and "watch" symbol. I cannot edit for about 15-20 seconds whereupon the regular cursor returns and I can edit. This only seems to happen when I use the Text Edit Tool.  I have discoverd that I can "clear" the flickering by clicking on an open space on the desktop and then returning to the open PDF doc. Any solution would be helpful.

That's normal. Does with me even with my 2.8 GB MacBook Pro with 8 GB.
What its doing is reading the whole section or document to see ifwas based on text.
The slower the Machine the slower  it will appear. I've never seen a Mac Version of Acrobat since versio 3 that didn't do this.  If its just a very small section it won't take as long.

  • CS6 spinning "busy" cursor while saving in background.

On Mountain Lion and Mavericks GM, Photoshop CS6 displays (flickers) the spinning "busy" cursor while either auto-saving or saving in the background.  The cursor is the Adobe black dot variety, not the OSX beach ball.  It flickers rapidly between the spinning balls and the currently used Photoshop cursor, for the duration of a save or auto-save.  For a multi gigabyte file, this can mean a several minutes of flickering.
I can work while saving, but obviously with a flickering cursor, it's difficult.  Interestingly, the flickering only starts after the second save after restarting Photoshop; i.e. I start Photoshop, open a file, save, and it's fine.  Then I continue working and save again, or auto-save, and the spinning/flickering starts while saving.  It won't go away unles I restart Photoshop again, and comes back on the second save of the next session.
Machine is a Mac Pro 2 x 2.93 6-Core with 32GB RAM and running an Nvidia Quadro 4000.  Scratch disk is a dedicated internal 120gb SSD.
Performance settings for CS6 were tweaked multiple times to no avail.  Fonts caches removed.  Permissions repaired.  PRAM reset.  Basically all the standard troubleshooting methods were attempted.
On Snow Leopard, I have zero issues with this.  On upgrading to Mountain Lion last year, the cursor began flickering, so I reverted to Snow Leopard.  This year, I installed Mavericks GM in the hopes it would be remedied, but the flickering returned.  I have reverted again to Snow Leopard and everything is back to normal.
The only thing I can try at this point is a clean install of ML or Mavericks, instead of the upgrade I've been doing.  This would be a considerable hassle, so I am asking here first if there's anything I can do before trying that.
    Thanks.
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
I just discovered your message after many research on the internet. I'm actually experiencing the same issue, this "busy"cursor while autosaving.
Like you, I used to have no problem at all on Snow Leopard.
My machine is a Macpro 2,8Ghz Quad core with 16GB Ram.
Could you find a solution  to your problem?
    Thank you

  • Photoshop CS3 issue

I did a clean install of leopard. Then installed CS3 Design Premium.
Photoshop is acting very weird. I used to have the "flickering cursor problem", but I think it's gone after I did update Photoshop.
But I still have this weird problem with input menus - I can't enter values into font size/radius box (also into width box while tranforming). Sliders work fine but this is very annoying!
Also I see some weird graphical issues with menus and GUI (there's a slightly darker, but still cleanly visible gray rectangle under some buttons like SAVE, CANCEL, RESET and so...).
I've read adobe forums, and there are some people having exact same problems. Anybody else had similiar problems ?
As for now *PHOTOSHOP CS3 IS NOT FULLY LEOPARD COMPATIBLE !*

You saved me guy. I didn't have exactly te same problem as you but i tried to reinstall photoshop CS3 cause of the report problem window (where you explain what hapened and it sends to ADOBE (not apple).
And i have the same pro with firefox cs3 I guess it's the same combination of keys to get id of prefs…
But all of this hapened after I boot with disk warrior to repair catalog and permissions.
After that i had may be i still, i need to restart to see (i'm scared) problems. I was no more Administrator of the Mac … I'm shure thre is a link so i boot with leopard change my password then i restart Changing it in users. Now i pray cause i have a lot of work to do on Photoshop. Curiosly it didn't affect others app of CS3 suite…

  • 8.02 Defects List?

Is there a list anywhere of currently known WebHelp 8.02 bugs?
I'm having numerous issues after upgrading from 7 to 8.02. One is a known issue - Related Topics control triggered by script does not work without manual patch.
    Others I am experiencing:
Template clobbered when converted to master page (weird path alterations).
Related topics control simply not publishing at all.
    CSS changes.
Flickering cursor (supposedly fixed by 8.02).
Project files list constantly refreshing (randomly?). It's like the project never opens and "settles in." The project is on my drive.
Sadly it is going to take some time to sort all of this out. This is the first upgrade in my long Robo history that has resulted in so much breakage.

http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/rh8/using_rh8.htm lists some but it is not exhaustive and does not cover what you are reporting!
Related Topics control - Maybe someone else can come in on this or you can search these forums. Follow your search by +robohelp to limit the results. There is a script on my site that converts Related Topics to a See Also list, if that helps.
Template  clobbered when converted to master page (weird path alterations) - I don't think that has been an issue.
Related  topics control simply not publishing at all. - see above
CSS  changes. - If you are talking about lists, there are many threads on that. See also the RoboHelp Tour on my site and look under Lists there.
Flickering cursor (supposedly fixed by  8.02). - Fixed by 801 not 802 and I haven't seen reports since then.
Project files list constantly refreshing  (randomly?). It's like the project never opens and "settles in." The  project is on my drive. That was something that was a warning that a project was about to go belly up before the 802 patch was released. See Opening Projects on my site. With a backup in place, try deleting the CPD file and reopening the project.

  • T23 Advance repair option/Monitor?

    Entitled T23 Advance repair option/Monitor?
    Background: T23, 2647-2TU, 640 MB ram
Dual boot set-up with Linux and Windows XP Pro.
I have been using Linux since XP is dangerous to use on Internet, hence, prefer not to use unless this would be the easiest and best way.
Need suggestion about how to rule out both OS's and see if the T 23 has advanced repair options?
    Ref 1 Article:
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-Knowledge-Base/S440-black-screen-with-flickering-cursor-a...
    Purpose of Posting:
While in Linux the program stuck (not sure here, the monitor screen froze, but the T23 keypad may have been operational, see below in Possible cause to explor.). No mouse movement. I was able to hold down power button 5-8 seconds and turn off. Restarted and everything looks ok.
This had happened once before while in Linux.
    Questions:
Would the advanced repair in Rescue and Recovery (Need to check version?) partition option address the T 23 computer system only? Anotherwords, could fix the problem without having to query each program?
Would this be a good place to start?
Any particular additional suggestions, if using the advanced repair option, I should know (other than how it was used in the Ref 1 Article above) excluding the windows instruction section?
    Possible cause to explore:
I added a different monitor which plugged into back to a D connector. In the past used the Think pad screen. Also in the past, I have used a USB optical mouse that worked well in many sessions. In any case if the keypad was fully functional, what key or combination would bring the plugged in monitor back?
Or, just unplug monitor and let the T23 monitor start functioning?
If the responder would like to respond in small steps, thats ok with me if its easier for you. I plan to make this a top priority and will be looking for response frequently in the day.
    Any assistance will be appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Bob

    Update:
Just unplugged monitor and am running on Think pad monitor. We will see if T23 freezes again.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Freezing of the system can be from several sources, both hardware (most likely) and software.  My suggestion to you, since you have a T23 and I'm very familiar with this system, is to try the following things:
    1) Run a memory diagnostic.  Get a copy of memtest86+ from http://www.memtest.org/#downiso  Several media are available: floppy, USB or CD.  Use whatever is easiest for you.  Boot the diagnostic program and let it run for several hours.  Ideally you want to program to execute at least three full passes of all the test patterns.
    2) Run a hard drive diagnostic.  Most hard drive manufacturers have released a diagnostic program that runs some simple checks.  They are "non-destructive" in that they do not write any information to the drive.  That said, you should probably backup your entire drive before running such a program.  There are several good disk backup programs out there; if you need some advice, just ask.  For hard drive diagnostics, Seagate has a program called SeaTools, Hitachi/IBM has DFT and I think Fujitsu has FJDT.
IBM, and then Lenovo afterwards, used to have a program in their software download library called PC Doctor for DOS which came in specific versions for most Thinkpads.  It was what the factory recommended people to use when diagnosing hardware problems.  However, several years ago the license to distribute the program by Lenovo was not renewed and from that point on all PC Doctor software for the Thinkpad was withdrawn.
Doing those two things should eliminate the memory and hard drive from being the source of your problem.  However, my initial thought is that your T23 has developed a fairly common problem: loosening of one or more components on the motherboard.  It's a known problem, at least by us Thinkpad geeks.  Normally this type of defect is seen as a power-on failure; your laptop refuses to boot and the only thing that seems to be functional is a wildly spinning fan.  To a lesser degree, this freezing problem can be encountered at random times after the system has been operating normally.
Warning: Doing the following procedure could "permanently" freeze your system.  If what I suspect is the problem, it CAN be fixed but it requires a full disassembly of the system, removal of the motherboard and some soldering.
Run a program that you can easily tell if it stops for any reason; play a video or MP3 file, for example.  While the program is running, put your left thumb on top of the palmrest in the lower left corner, your fingers under the system (where the memory bay panel is) and "bend" the corner of the laptop "up" and then "down".  What you are trying to do is put some pressure on the case so that it twists the motherboard slightly.  In some cases, this is enough to induce the "freeze".
As far as the Rescue and Recovery utility is concerned, I've never used it myself on a T23.  It is meant to be used to reinstall Windows to a state it was at when the laptop was first sold (i.e., circa 2002).  Assuming that the hidden partition is still available, running it now will regress Windows to a pre-SP1 version.  While I do not share your view that using XP at this point in time to access the internet is "dangerous", it certainly would not be recommended to use something as old (and un-patched) as that.  I also do not know for sure if running R&R will affect your dual-boot configuration, but my guess is that it would.  All of your previously installed programs will be erased, along with any of your files when you do this operation.
If you are using an external monitor and would like to switch between it and the LCD panel then you should be able to use the Fn+F7 key combination.  Hold the Fn key down then press and release the F7 key.  Doing this successive times will cycle the active display between the LCD, the external monitor only and then both active.
Took me a few minutes to find a good example but read this thread at TPF: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?p=274956#274956

  • Snow Leopard and Dodge and Burn

Since installing Snow Leopard the Dodge and Burn plug-in that comes with Aperture does not work properly. I am getting double and flickering cursors for the area of the brush strokes. I use a Wacom tablet.

Right. I am having the same problem with saving PS files back to Aperture. I found a simple workaround. Go back to Aperture and highlight an image other then the one you want to save from PS and it will save back to Aperture just fine.
For those using Nikon Capture NX 2, images won't even load. Why is it so hard for Apple and Nikon to work together? It goes both ways. When a new Nikon raw format comes along, Adobe supports it the day it is released. Apple takes forever. And now, Apple releases a new version of their operating system and the message from Nikon is that they are looking into it but can not promise a solution. C'mon Nikon, a large percentage of Nikon users work on Macs. Of those, some are professionals. If you want your software taken seriously, support it properly.

If i disable raid, i still get the NV IDE BIOS screen, it just shows a message other than 'detecting array' with a flashing cursor and does exacly the same thing. It just wont get to the next stage.
I havent tried flashing the bios yet as my floppy seems to be dead. Could that help? Im not entirely sure if its the raid screen causing the problem anyway, it could be whatever is supposed to happen next, that just isnt.
    p.s. Clearing cmos didnt help.

  • Windows update prevents me from upgrading to Windows 10

From what I understand, I won't be able to get the Windows 10 upgrade without downloading all the past Windows updates first.  The problem I'm having is, whenever I do, my computer reboots to nothing but black screen with flickering cursor, which causes me to do a hard reboot and then a system restore.  I've had this issue for months with windows update and haven't been running them, but now,  it seems if I want Windows 10, I don't have a choice.  Please help!

Additionally, I tried the official Media Creation tool that I downloaded from Microsoft but that just tells me "Something Happened" Installation halted.
