Flickering Detailed navigation panel

Hi all
I have created a portal desktop, using the default frame work page. But the detailed navigation panel flickers when i click on the links in it. its like reloading the entire page. Can any one give me suggestions..

What happens if you change it to URL for Detailed Navigation?

How to merge top level navigation into detail navigation panel.

Hi All,
I want to add all the contents of top level navigation into detail navigation panel and remove top level navigation.I am looking for the code with which i can shift the top level navigation to detail level navigation.

You could edit the top-level navigation iview and set the <b>Number of Display levels</b> property's value to 0.
you can reach the Top-level navigation iview by going through the following path
1) <b>Content Administration --> Portal Content --> Content Provided by SAP --> Admin Interfaces --> Top-level navigation</b>
However, note that once you do this the whatever menus that are available in the top level will not be available anymore.
Maybe, you could copy the standard Top-level navigation into a framework page that you have created and then make the change. After doing so, you can assign it to groups/roles you want. This will ensure that the CONTENT/SYSTEM/USER administrators see the normal portal framework and specific user groups alone dont see the Top level navigation..

How to create links under Detailed Navigation Panel

Hi All,
Our reqt is to create many links under "Detailed Navigation Panel" so that portal users may click on any of those links to navigate to that particular iView.
For example. I have created 3 iViews ( A,B and C). In the "Detailed Navigation Panel" i would like to have three links( One, Two and Three). If user clicks "One", it should go to iView A.
Kindly help me how to do this. Many Thanks in Advance. Appreciate if any one could send me the detailed steps involved on this.

Hi Venkat,
As far as I understand your requirement, you don't want to have these links as part of the detailed navigation within the navigation hierarchy, but below, within the navigation panel, statically, right?!
For such a static solution, you could just create an iView displaying these links, and put that iView into the navigation panel of the desktop innerpage, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/b4/771158e4cb4bf6af9974380948db86/frameset.htm for the structure details (below the Detailed Navigation iView).

Detailed Navigation Panel

Hi guys,
In order to reduced the time needed to refresh a certain iview and all the portal content i want to make the Detailed Navigation Panel (which appears on the left side) to be static, this is, not to refresh when the iview does it. Is it possible?

Detailed Navigation Panel in AFP

Hello Everyone:
       I created a workset , in this workset ther are some folders and pages, then I add this workset to a role,when our users preview this role,they found the page which be added into the workset is very odd in DLN.
       Firstly In the Detailed Navigation Panel ,the last page name is not display whole.
      Secondly ,if I expand some folder to dispaly the below page ,the last page is disappear solwly, until clear away completely.
      If I use Default Framework Page or Classic Framework Page ,everything is ok,I am very at o loss.
    So please someone can help me.

      Now our EP systmen has been upgraded into 7.3 release,so we use Ajax Framework Page.
    If you are using SAP portal in external facing portal (internet) then might be detailed navigation not work properly
     I use in my company,so it is not external problem.

Detailed navigation panel doesn't show the link

Hi,
I created a role and I put an existing workset in it (delta link) but I removed 3 iviews out of 4 from the workset.
When I check the same workset in another role I see 4 links for 4 ivews in detailed navigation panel.
However I don't see any link in my new role's detailed navigation panel for the ivew.
I compared all the properties settings and saw no difference. Does anybody know how do i see my iview in detailed navigational panel?

Newrole1 : New Role that you created.
Workset1: Existing workset
iv1 existing iviews for the workset.
iv2
iv3
iv4
But you have only iv4 assigned to your NewRole1 that you created( delta linking the workset1 and removing 3 iviews)
But the iv4 does not exist under your role?
You can try checking the permissions on this iview.
Also, did you try checking with a different user being assigned the role or the same user using the exisiting workset.

I would like to modify the size of the "detailed navigation" panel on portal. How can I do that?
Another question: If I use some page or iview in a workset, in the "detailed navigation" panel every description show in one line. How can I use line braking in the detailed navigation panel?

Tree in Detailed Navigation - open all sub trees

by default, the detailked navigation tree is closed.
How can I make, that, by default, all detailed navigation view trees in the detailed navigation panel are open, i.e. expanded, when ou select a menu item?

I am not I understood the question, but however, I'll try...
There is a property called "Initial State of Navigation Panel" it's located under "Navigation" category in the Property Editor. This property Determines the initial display state of the navigation panel when the current object is selected in the navigation hierarchy at run time. 'Automatic' opens the navigation panel only when it contains items to display, otherwise it will be closed. Choose 'Open' or 'Closed' to force the initial display state.

Deactivate "Detailed Navigation" in an iView?

Hi there,
just a little question.
I created a new URL iView and put it in to the toplevel Navigation. Thats works fine. But when i open the iview over my menu always the detailed navigation is displayed on the left side... where can i deactivate the detailed navigation for this iview? I dont want to deactivate it systemwide. Only in this iview...

open the page where your url iview is added.
then set the property of 'initial state of navigation panel ' to close or always close' . This will hide the detailed navigational panel for only that page.

Trees in Detailed Navigation - initial application

Hi,
I am using a tree in the left "detailed Navigation" panel.
The default behaviour of the EP is as follows:
1) If the user clicks on the folder ICON, the folder tree opens and shows the application. Yuu can select one of the applications, that will start in the body window.
2) If the user clicks on the folder NAME, the folder tree opens and the first application is immediately shown in the body window
How can I suppress, that the first application is shown in the body window? It means, that the user should always select an application before anything is shown in the body window?

Hi,
There is a property called "Default Entry for Folder" and it's located under "Navigation" category in the Property Editor.
The property has 2 options that can be selected by marking a radio button: "Yes" or "No".
If the property was set to "Yes" for a specific object under a folder (e.g. page,iView,etc) it means that when
its folder is launched - this iView or Page will be displayed by default in the content area.
The default value for all objects is "No".
When there are multiple 'True' objects, the first one in the role structure is the default entry.

Hiding Detailed Navigation.

Hi,
We are using SAP Portal 7.3, I want to hide the detailed navigation in one of the pages.
We have created a custom framework page and custom layout. The page where I want to hide detailed navigation is using 1column full width layout and not our custom one. I have already set the property 'Initial state of Navigation Panel' as always close and Invisible in Navigation areas as checked.
Also I have hidden the detailed navigation iView from custom framework page. Still the detailed navigation panel is visible in the page.
Please advice.

Thanks for your reply on the post.
I have checked the framework page assignment to rule collection and it is correct. I even removed the framework page from rule and reassigned it but still the same result.
Is this issue coming because of the 1 column layout I am using for this page.

Folders in detailed navigation

Hi all,
I've created a role and a workset which is assigned to that role.
In that workset i've some folders which contains iviews and i need the folders to be available in the detailed navigation panel for that role to view those views... but i'm not getting that folders in the detailed navigation list.
Can anyone help me to get the folders in the navigation panel?

The basic concept is that what is seen to enduser is IVIEW
excepr that nothing is visible,What you are doing is that
Role - -> Workset - - > Folder (Iviews)
With this how could you can view folder in Detailed level navigation.
What you can Try is
Role - -> workset - - >Km Navigation Iview (Stating path of Folder to be Displayed ).
It will work fine.

Fixing the detailed navigation view.

We all know that we can expand or shrink the detailed navigation view. Is there any way to make the detailed naviagtion view immovable I mean it should have fixed width and it cannot be expanded or shrinked.

Hi DV,
We can remove the expansion and shrinking of the navigation panel by removing the navigation panel header, using the theme editor. U cannot remove it as such but u can reduce the size to a minimum so that it wont be visible at all.
The detailed navigation panel is an iview. It can be found in PCD>>Portal Users>>Std Portal Users>>Default Frame work page>>Desktop inner page. There u cna see the detailed navigation panel and u can edit its properties over there.

Customize navigation panel

Hi,
I would like to customize the navigation panel or detailed navigation panel of the portal. I would like to change the images for each leaf entry (instead of having a dot I would like to have sexier images) and each nodes. Has anyone already done that before ?
Should I go and edit the .par files ? Or should I just use the theme editor (which does not allow me to change everything I need to change)? Is there any tutorial that simply explains how to do it ?
I even cannot find the used css files... Any help would be really appreciated.
