Flickering on new 55 inch TV used as monitor for MacPro 3.1 VGA connection

I have a Mac Pro 3.1. as the main home computer connected to the TV.
It worked fine with my old Samsung 42 inch TV as a display using a VGA connector with the standard included apple convertor.
I recently purchased a new Samsung hd 55 inch screen, and, whatever the settings, I get a terrible flicker on the screen, when using the VGA PC connection.
I am using a 1280 x 1024, 60 hz resolution which should be supported. although I have tried all the other ones too.
looking at the back of the Macpro, it looks like the panel where the connectors are in could be replaced, ideally with a new HDMI outlet which would doubtless solve the problem. Can this be done?
Otherwise is there any way to solve the problem using the existing setup. IS there something else on the MacPro that I can replace upgrade repair to solve the problem?
Is there a piece of software that would help?
I use the main screen for slide shows, movies, iTunes generally and also for other computing functions so this is really irritating...
Any susggestions greatly appreciated

I am trying to use my 27 inch iMac as a display for the Play Station 3. I have a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cord connected to both and the iMac does't do anything. I looked at the display in system preferances and there is no AirPlay Mirroring device connected. I also tried to press Command+f2 and there was no change. Is there anything else to try? Thanks.

Currently no solution but hopefully in the future.
The Kanex XD only works with earlier iMacs not with ThunderBolt until Kanex updates it.

You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the monitor. In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the monitor and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the monitor your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.

We can do like this:
1. Get all details using details, BAPI_CONTRACT_GETDETAIL.
2. After getting results, append new line item. Then use your BAPI.

Yes, all Intel Macs can at some point offer screen sharing. The faster the connection, the better the screen sharing speed. Mac OS X 10.5 iChat offers screen sharing. Mac OS X 10.6 and higher Sharing System Preferences offers Screen Sharing. VNC is an alternative. But it must initially be configured when both machines have working displays attached. Once done, the machines that have their display shared don't need an external display.

I'm trying to do this exact same thing and am coming to the conclusion that it is not possible given my setup. I have a MacBook Pro 2.2 Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM and a NIVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT Graphics Card. I'm running FCS 3 and all media is read from a 1TB Seagate 7200 SATA drive read through a SeriTek 2SM2 PCI card in the Express Slot.
You can easily arrange your monitors to do what you're asking (as outlined above), but the problem is the Graphics Card is not powerful enough to run both monitors and you will experience dropped frames with any HD codecs. I've tried XDCAM, DVCPROHD and ProRes 422 -- all dropped frames immediately. In fact, even if I use the "closed clamshell" mode, so the graphics card is powering ONLY the external monitor, I still get the same dropped frames issue. The only way I can edit or play back without dropped frames is by using NO external monitor whatsoever.
Is this a unique problem for me? Is there a solution to this? Would the new 17 inch i5's with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (512MB) be able to power an external monitor?
EDIT: And the External Monitor is a Dell 2408WFP connected through the DVI port.

You'll want something that's 1080p. Best to have one with HDMI input, too. Other than that, let price and warranty be your guide.

It sounds like you are using a TV as a monitor for your Mac mini, and need to know about attaching a camera to it for use with FaceTime. Here is some info about using an external camera:
FaceTime for Mac: Troubleshooting FaceTime
A built-in FaceTime camera, an iSight camera (built-in or external), a USB video class (UVC) camera, or a FireWire DV camcorder.
Making HD video calls requires a built-in FaceTime HD camera and a 1-Mbps upstream and downstream Internet connection.
Receiving HD video calls requires a supported Intel-based Mac. For a complete list, see this article.
A microphone.
You can use a built-in microphone, or connect an external microphone to your computer’s audio input port.
You can use compatible Bluetooth or USB microphone or headsets.
If you have multiple cameras or microphones attached to your computer, use the Video menu to select the camera or microphone you wish to use with FaceTime for Mac.

New network (and much more) monitor for XFCE panel

A few years ago I wrote a tiny app to show a text network monitor in the XFCE panel, resembling the previous one I was familiarized with (in KDE?).
The past month I started fixing a bug and ended in a full rewrite, but keeping the original simplicity (at least in the panel bar) despite that now reports far more than the network activity.
The installation instructions are the same: download a single file (no dependencies), compile it, add a Generic Monitor Applet (XFCE) to the panel and configure it to load the new executable.
I have updated the wiki page, but the full instructions and code is now hosted at github: "Hacker's Monitor for XFCE". Yes, it has a new name also.
Here follows a screenshot with the mouse over the applet to open the tooltip (yes, I was intentionally doing a dd from /dev/sda into /dev/null ):

Using 2 Monitors for PShop and Dreamweaver

Hi,
I use two monitors with an extended desktop. If only Photoshop OR Dreamweaver are open, everything is fine. I typically have whatever I'm designing on my main monitor and all of the tool pallettes on the right monitor. The problem is when I have BOTH PhotoShop AND Dreamweaver open. The Tools for BOTH programs are always on the second monitor. It can get really confusing.
I'd like to have visible on the second monitor only the tools that correspond to whichever program is open or maximized on my main monitor.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply, John. That's the problem: When I minimize one of the applications, the content on the second monitor (the tools) don't minimize, leaving both sets of tools always up.

Can't use new external TV as a monitor for my Satellite P100-240

I have connected my Toshiba to a new Panasonic LCD 32" via a VGA cable.
When The computer boots up, I get the standard Toshiba opening page and then the Windows XP opening on the TV monitor, but then nothing while my laptop boots up.
When fully booted, I get the same desktop as the Toshiba on my TV BUT no icons etc, just the desktop.
If I change the screensave on the Toshiba, it changes on the TV so I am getting a connection.
Any advice or help greatly appreciated.
I have tried the usual things (e.g. checking box for extend my desktop onto this monitor)

Who knows why the FN keys dont work on the Satellite P100-240 PSPA3E.
Maybe the drivers and the utility were muddled up!
If you use the original Toshiba image on this notebook then everything should works ok!
You could try to refresh for example the Hotkey Utility which can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.
Furthermore the NVidia Geforce manager (you can find it in the control panel) provides different settings. Check this!
