There is often a flickering when enlarging pictures on Facebook with Safari. It's incredibly annoying. How can i fix? I was in an apple store and i saw that all MBP with Retina have exact the same Problem.
PRAM reset, Reset of OS X not solved the Problem.
Here's some information on my MacBook:
- OS X Mavericks 10.9.2
- Safari 7.0.2
-MacBook Pro Retina (Late 2013) 15 Inch
- 2,0 ghz i7, 8 GB Ram
Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Graphic glitches MBP retina Late 2012 (HDMI/games)

Hi To everyone!!! First of all, I am new user so I would like to salute all members of the forum. I am looking forward to be part of this community!!
I am new here so I will try to be as clear as I possibly can. My apologies if I not very good explaining these problems. I have experience two issues lately with my graphic cards. I think that they are becoming more often.
First, when I connect my MBP retina to the TV using the HDMI cable to watch something, the connection is lost briefly (1-2 sec), the TV goes black and then it reconnects again by itself. The TV shows the resolution  (samsung TV) and everything goes back to normal. This happens after 3-7min after I connected the MBP. I have tried disabling the sleep mode of the computer (I thought the computer could be trying to suspend itself) but it didn't fix it. Any ideas of what may be causing this????
Second, when I open a game or when I connect to the TV the screen goes off!!! What I mean is that the display shows "static" (I mean like when the analog TVs use to show a black and white fuzz when no signal was detected.) Sometimes it fixes itself and sometimes I need to reboot. Any ideas?????
    Thank you very much!!!
    Best wishes,
    Tony

  • App store will lag when enlarge picture (iPad mini 2)

I just bought an ipad mini 2 (retina) a few days ago, and found out that when I enlarge a preview picture in app store, it will lag. Just like the fps. drop when open a picture, and not quite smooth. My ipad 2 isn't like that, and both are ios 7.0.4.  And somethimes the app stores will crash. Is it normal? Or should I bring my ipad mini 2 to fix?

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • MBP retina display flickering

    Hey,
Not really happy that my first post is a problem with my new apple machine, but hey, it happens. Anyhow i recently received my retina pro a few weeks ago and everything was working fine, no burn-in "ghosting" issues, the laptop is super fast, everything was better than my old mac, until i finally fully migrated 2 days ago everything and started developing on it, i noticed that when the laptop goes to screen saver and enter my password, the screen immediately starts flickering, when all windows leave a trail if moved and stuff appear when they want to!!! This only happens when i have many heavy apps running at the same time, the last session this happened i had (xcode, safari with many tabs, app store, mail, itunes, reeder, 3g stick software, and pages). The crash logs always have quartz framework and intelHD.
I tried searching for this but no one seems to have this problem, any one have any info or experienced this, apple fixing this soon with a driver update or should i contact apple support?
    Good day!

SOLUTION WORKAROUND that worked for me > Set Energy Saver > 'Display Sleep' to "NEVER"
I used the following WORKAROUND to solve this screen-flicker/frozen/window-repainting problem on my Retina MBP:
    Workaround Highlight:
Essentially, I configured "Energy Saver" settings so that the display can NEVER go to sleep.  Yes this sounds drastic, but it is a workaround that works for me and really is EASY to use.
    Specifically, I set the following:
    1) Goto System Preferences > Energy Saver
    2) Set "Display Sleep" to "Never" for BOTH "Battery" and "Power Adapter"
Since doing this, I have not had ANY problems with flickering or windows not re-painting etc.  This has been over a week now of screen/display problem-free computing on my Retina MBP.
Problem Symptoms Highlight: The problem seems to happen when the Display comes OUT of sleep mode.  The display seems kind of frozen and when I drag windows around the fragments of the screen flickers.  I'm talking about the SYSTEM being ON the whole time and just the display going into and then out of sleep mode. (e.g. Time passes, screen goes blank, then when I do something like click the trackpad to 'wake up' the screen, the display problems occur with flickering, frozen fragments of screen and window-repainting problems/flickering when I drag windows around.)
THUNDERBOLT specific Issues: Also, using a THUNDERBOLT Port for an external display OR Ethernet cable adapter OR external hard drive seems to exacerbate the problem and the display problems then happen MORE frequently for me...as in EVERY time I come out of display sleep.  So, now I just NEVER go into Display Sleep and that has fixed the problem for me in a 'workaround' fashion.
To be clear, since I started using the Display-Never-Sleeps workaround:
o I have NOT seen these screen frozen/flickering and window dragging/repainting issues at all
o I have never seen these issues/problems when coming out of SYSTEM Sleep, before or after using the workaround.  These problems have only happened to me when coming out of display sleep.
When I need to leave my laptop ON and walk away, and therefore I want the screen to be blank/black to save power and/or avoid burn-in while I'm away, I simply manually decrease the display brightness to a black screen.
I know that this sounds terribly un-sophisticated....but then I did say it is a "Workaround".  Once I got used to doing this (manually decreasing/increasing the display brightness because the display is configured to NEVER go to sleep) for a day or so, it became kinda second nature for me, not a big deal, and I have been able to use this 'workaround' to avoid the display problems described in this forum.
    I hope this helps.

  • On my MacBook Pro when I am connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable, Facebook pictures do not load. They show up as white boxes with blue question marks.

On my new MacBook Pro when I am connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable, Facebook pictures do not load. They show up as white boxes with blue question marks. This also happens on a website editor. But, when I am connected to the internet via Wifi, everything load properly. This is my work computer, so I have to be able to connect through the Ethernet cable to access everything. Please help me!

I mostly use Safari. But I also tried it on Firefox, Mozilla, and Camino. Mac OS X. It's my work computer, so I've only tried it at the office. I have to be connected through the Ethernet cable to access my files and email on the server.

  • Western Digital USB3 external hard drive (attached to new MBP Retina) seems to randomly "eject" itself when I'm trying to back it up via time machine. When this happens, I can't even shut my machine down properly. Ideas?

The backup process will run for sometimes 30 minutes or more. But, it's as if, at some point, the drive just can't be found. I get the message "this drive was ejected improperly". When this happens: my machine won't shut down, disk utility won't run. I have to press and hold the power button to force a shut down. Any ideas what's going on here? A MBP Retina issue? A USB3 issue? A western digital issue (although this drive has been functioning fine on old MBP)?
    Thanks!

When you say that you've applied the latest 'patch,' I'm assuming that you mean the latest (July 18) software update for mid-2012 models? It was supposed to address some of the problems with the USB 3.0 ports. I don't think that, in most cases, it's a problem with the drives themselves (USB 2 or 3), rather it seems to be a port problem.
If it wasn't fixed for you using the July 18 Software Update the only thing I can recommend at this point is to see if Mountain Lion - soon to be released - will be able to fix the problems. If not, I would take your unit back to the Apple Store and let them know that you are continuing to have problems with the USB 3.0 ports. They may offer to switch out your logic board, etc.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Startup Disk not there when reinstalling OSX (Early 2013 MBP retina)

I had reinstalled the OSX on my MBP a few times so I am not unfamiliar with the process of rebooting from the boot menu, formatting via the disk utility and then reinstalling either via a backup or from the internet backup (as the retina does not have a dvd drive).
Doing it this time and I did nothing different, however upon entering the disk utility screen, the main disk image simply wasn't there. I was conducting a reinstall of OSX from the internet and had already downloaded the new software, as you have to do when installing from the internet. I then came to the disk utility screen, ready to reformat the hard drive and it simply wasn't there at all. The only image there was the one I had just downloaded ready to install.
Thinking this extremely strange, I reboot the computer and it takes ages, then comes to a screen with a continually flashing folder symbol with a question mark in it. I have left it like this for 30 mins with no change.
So now, I cannot boot normally, and I cannot reinstall a downloaded image on the main SSD because it is not showing at all in the disk utility.
I have plugged in an external hard drive and am currently installing a new image on this to try to check where the main hard drive is once it is up and running, but any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
As mentioned, it is an early 2013 MBP retina, the warranty is up so cannot take it back to apple.

If you live near an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment to have the computer tested. Supposedly there is no charge for testing. Use 2nd link if not near an Apple Store or aren’t in the US.

  • How to set images to your contacts to see their picture when there calling? Like their facebook picture.

How to set images to your contacts to see thier picture when someone is calling? Like for instance facebook picture.(on the iPHONE 4s)

You can manually add a photo to each contact on your iPhone - from an existing photo of the contact on your iPhone or capture a photo of the contact when together. Or add a photo for each contact in the address book app on your computer that is supported for syncing contacts with the iPhone followed by a sync.
For FaceBook check this link, which I found with a Google search.

I have a MBP retina and I am having problem when my bluetooth and wifi are both active. My wifi is totally unusable when I am connected to via bluetooth speaker.

Chances are you mis-typed a character in the Wifi password and the devices saved that information.  Now whenever you try to connect the device refers to the wrong password and the Jetpack does not accept your connection.  Tell your devices to forget the wireless connection and start over.
Once you enter the proper WiFi credentials the Jetpack will allow you to connect.

  • Still suffering with dropping, unresponsive bluetooth on MBP Retina. When will this be fixed?

I am still having this problem with my MBP Retina display. I am currently typing on the keyboard on the machine because it just lost the bluetooth connection, yet again. After the message flashes up saying "connection lost" for my keyboard the bluetooth settings on my system preferences are not responsive. It drops the connection very regularly, usually at the end of the day but it's something that goes wrong with the bluetooth on the macbook because I get the same <<do not localize...Name not available>> message that others have mentioned.
What has NOT fixed this issue:
    I have reset NVRAM/PRAM
    I have reset the SMC
    I have the latest OSX v. 10.9.2
I have new batteries in two different apple wireless keyboards that have both suffered the same issue
I have switched off wifi and run from ethernet, but bluetooth still fails, it still happens.
I have searched the discussions and found many people reporting the same problem going back many months now but nobody posting a solution that works. When is this going to get sorted out?

This is still happening to me on a daily basis. I'm unable to connect to, or switch off bluetooth on my MBPRetina from Spring 2013. I get the message <<do not localize...name not available>> on my bluetooth preferences. I'm now going to restart my computer so I can connect to the wireless keybaoard. Is there nothing that can be done about this glitch?

  • My MBP Retina gets very confused when I plug in/unplug external monitors. Is this normal?

I've noticed my MBP Retina is more easily confused than my old MBP when using external monitors.
The problems occur after unplugging from an external monitor. Unless I actually re-start the computer, the resolution in some apps (e.g. Safari) fails to revert to retina quality. I am often left with the toolbar and windows so far off the laptop screen that it is impossible to reach them and the OS is unusable (have to restart). And just now the machine went into a strange fit where it kept powering on and off the displays every few seconds, apparently unable to decide what mode to be in. Again, I had to restart.
Is it normal to expect that I would have to restart the machine when moving between external monitor/laptop only combinations?
All these effects are fairly intermittent (although very frequent) so could be hard to reproduce at the Genius bar.
