Flicking through tabs in a single window

I wanted to show you a screengrab of the Cell Options (cmd-option-B) with the 4 tabs in it (text, strokes and fills, rows and columns, diagonal lines), but ok, I've explained what I wanted to show you.
Can you flick through each tab from the keyboard, meaning not using your mouse to click on them?

Bob's wrong -- you can't add custom shortcuts to the inside of dialogs.
But you are wrong in stating "I don't want to create a shortcut, I wanted something that was built into ID." -- because all shortcuts you can define behave exactly as "built into ID"
To return to your question: usually, in regular Windows programs, you can "tab" to the tab bar and use the left and right arrows. For some reason (interplatform compatibility?) Adobe chose not to use regular Windows controls. They do all their own drawing, with all advantages (such as having a distinct own style on both Mac and Win) and disadvantages (the usual Windows keys for common controls do not work ... such as selecting an item in a drop-down list by typing ahead). You are at the mercy of what they included ... Fortunately, they thought of Tab controls. Hit Ctrl+1 to (number of tab controls) to activate that tab immediately.

  • Multiple Docs in Single Window

I annotate lots of PDFs for my research. Therefore, when I write I have multiple windows open corresponding the documnets I am currently consulting. It would be a great improvement to be able to have those documents appear as tabs within a single window...just as in InDesign!

Thanks, very helpful tip indeed. Lets just say Ive opened 5 pdfs in preview simultaneously and I wanted to add another pdf to the 5, how do I do this? I'm sure there must be a way.
    Thanks
Edit: I've now found out how to do this:
Add files to an existing window
    Choose View > Thumbnails.
Drag the files to the window’s sidebar.
    Thanks

  • I have multiple windows open in firefox but tab opened in one window appear in another window

I think the question has all the details... its very irritating that when you are trying to read content of one website in multi tabs in a single window but the new links opened randomly opens in another window

Hi Sriraam, you can customize how links are opened whether to a new window or a new tab. Here's how:
    # Click the '''Firefox''' button and select '''Preferences'''
    # Under '''Tabs''', make sure the '''Open new windows in a new tab instead''' option is checked
Details about these can be found in [[Options window - Tabs panel]]. And more about [[Tabbed browsing]].

  • [Solved] When I open multiple Firefox windows an orange pull down tab appears and I cannot exit from any single window. I have to exit all of the Firefox windows to close one.

I like to open several Firefox windows when I am browsing the internet. Since mi reinstall of windows XP with sp3 I installed Firefox 5.0.1. Now when I open multiple windows they kind of window in a window and I get this orange pull down menu. I can no longer close any one single window. I click the lower of the two top right X's to close the window and all the tabs in that window, but nothing happens. I also don't like the look and feel of the orange pull down menu

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
In Firefox 4 and later [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • 2 tab canvasses on a single window (form)

    Hi !
Does anybody know of a way to put 2 tab canvases on a single window. I would like to place 2 tab canvases, each holding 2 tab pages, on 1 window. However, from the moment you use "new tab canvas page" he directly puts the page behind the other tab pages instead of starting a new one. I already tried working with stacked canvases or "new content canvas". Even if your new tab canvas page is inside a new canvas he keeps on putting the tab pages behind the previous tab pages.
Would anybody know of a workaround ?
    Many thanks !
    Kris

    Hi Saeed,
A possible solution to generate two tab canvasses on one window is the following:
Add a (dummy) module component with (dummy) items between the last module component of the first tab and the first module component of the second tab.
At runtime, you can make this extra module component invisible.
So, in Designer you'll have the following Module Components, with property 'Placement':
MC1. 'New Tab Canvas Page' -- first tab-page of first tab
MC2. 'New Tab Canvas Page' -- second tab-page of first tab
MC3. 'New Content canvas' -- dummy block, between two tab canvases
MC4. 'New Tab Canvas Page' -- first tab-page of second tab
MC5. 'New Tab Canvas Page' -- second tab-page of second tab

  • Run multiple tabs next to eachother in a single window

I have a tv screen that i use as a monitor and it's big enough to open several windows on the same screen, but i wanted to know if it is possible to run multiple sites in a single window. to be more precise if it is possible to open 2 tabs next to eachother. That way I wont have to open 2 windows and get 2 of everything.

    Try this extension. <br />

  • Tab groups - set default size of single tab group in a window?

When I have a single tab group in a window, and enter the tab-group-view-mode (the one for which ctrl-shift-e is the default), the tab group box only fills up a limited portion of the upper left corner of the window.
I can of course resize it with the mouse, but how can I set it to fill up the whole space by default?

I know its all open, in the past you could add a style sheet to the file grabbing the styles Reference[http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2443805] but I am not sure if this is supported anymore?
[https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Developer_guide/Customizing_Firefox] may be helpful too, but I do not think that the document is complete.
If you open the size of the Group tab is should stay that size, I do not think there is a way to change the default size yet.

  • Enable Single Window Mode in Acrobat 9

Please re-enable the Single Window (MDI) Mode in Acrobat 9 as it is an un welcome user experience of having dozens of Acrobat windows open in the taskbar. I can suggest to have either of the following:-
    1. Give an option to the user whether to open the multiple or single Acrobat windows as is the case with Acrobat 8 with "Preferences->Documents->Show Each document in its own window"
    2. Introduce tabbed browsing in Acrobat similar to the one implemented in IE 7.0 to have multiple PDFs opened in a single Acrobat window.
    Thanks,
    Atin

    http://blogs.adobe.com/acrobat/2008/09/mdi_vs_sdi_in_acrobat.html
"In Acrobat 9, we dropped support for MDI."
    Not a good idea!
Now, please let us have it back.
You have to realize that you break peoples work flow with this ill-thought-through change.
"Feature Parity with Macintosh was desired" -- Not a valid argument from a windows-user point-of-view
"Making SDI default, but still providing MDI in version 8 was done to start the deprecation of MDI." -- That trick didn't work, re-enabling MDI was the first setting I changed in Acrobat 8 (and actually Acrobat 8 broke so many other things, I quickly reverted to Acrobat 7).
"Microsoft advised that to work as good as possible on Vista, applications should avoid MDI." -- Microsoft is not the user, we are! Besides, many W7 users reset their desktop to classical.
"This increases the cost of testing the product and the cost of fixing bugs." -- So it's easier on Adobe, but bad for us... is that an argument at all?
"in a world where larger screen resolutions, multiple monitors and the need to see multiple documents at one time has increased, SDI mode offered higher benefits." -- As someone else already mentioned, on a multi-monitor system SDI is flawed.
So... now that you consider reverting to MDI, please also introduce tabs, that's the only thing MDI applications typically lack, though things are improving.
EDIT: People been asking for this since 2008! Come on, already...

  • How can I navigate through tabs without using the mouse?

I want to know how to navigate through tabs without using a mouse... just like you can navigate through multiple windows by using <alt><tab> ... because it's extremely annoying when I'm working on something to have to take my hands off the keyboard and go to the mouse.

You can also use Ctrl + Page Up and Ctrl + Page Down to go to the next and previous tab. I prefer those because it doesn't require the Shift key (Shift + Ctrl+ Tab) to go to the previous tab.

  • Multiple Documents in Single Window in Preview

I mostly use Preview.app (on Lion 10.7.3) to read and annotate relatively large pdf documents (articles, reports, etc.). While working on a given project I tend to have many pdf files open at the same time. I personally would like to have all of the pdfs I use open in a single window, so I have Preview set to "Open all files in one window" (Preferences > General). This setup initially worked very well since it allows me view all of my open documents in the sidebar (similar to tabs in a browser window). The problem is that when I switch from one pdf to another, the position of the pdfs (i.e., the page I was on when I switched to another pdf) is not preserved. This seemingly defeats the purpose of having this functionality in Preview, so I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help me with.
First, is this the intended behavior of this setting, or is this a bug? In either case, is anyone aware of a fix for this? I just want the documents I'm reading to preserve their positions when switching between them when opened in a single window.

Thanks, very helpful tip indeed. Lets just say Ive opened 5 pdfs in preview simultaneously and I wanted to add another pdf to the 5, how do I do this? I'm sure there must be a way.

  • Installing two OBIEE 11g instances in a single windows machine

    Dear Experts
As a part of one of the client requirements , I need to install and configure two instances of OBIEE11g in a single windows server 2003.
Is it possible , and if you could let know how to achieve that. Here I mean would I be able to run two rpd 's and catalogs. Can I use differnt port and differnt weblogic domain for the same.
    Pls. respond..
    Regds

    Hi,
Yes ofcourse, we can have two instances on the same machine. However, we need to make sure that they do not conflict each other for the ports/node manager etc. Apart from this, I understand that you have to obey to some restrictions too here.
    1. Starting/Stopping BI Components needs to have a variable BI_SERVER_HOME set in the system. Now that you have two homes, I think you cannot set this. However, you can still start/stop BI Services through command line.
May be others can add in their opinion here.
    Thank you,

  • Is there an addon to view the titles (or search the text of) ALL open tabs in MULTIPLE Firefox windows?

Ive seen lots of "Tab Menus" for a single window. I know that there is only 1 firefox executable when I have many windows open so wouldn't these titles all be available in memory ??
I love having many windows open with many tabs in each to keep them grouped, but it becomes hard to find the one I am looking for.
    Thanks.

If you want a list of all open tabs the you can consider to use the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" to make Firefox store session data in sessionstore.js and parse the content of this file in a Firefox tab.
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts":<br>"Show my windows and tabs from last time"<br>"Show my home page"<br>"Show a blank page"
This code can run in the Scratchpad (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer;Shift+F4) in a Browser environment and in the Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+J) and in extension's button that allows to run code with chrome privileges.
I use the PrefBar extension for cases like this where code needs to be run with chrome privileges.

You can find the Firefox profile folder here:
    * C:\Users\&lt;user&gt;\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\&lt;profile&gt;\
Note that the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and later Window 7+ versions and the "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K are hidden folders.

  • Single Window Mode for Windows version?

    Hey there,
as some might know, there's a "hack" to get Single Window Mode for Safari on Mac. Normally. links with "target=_blank" will open in a new window instead of a new tab. In order to get Single Window Mode, the following code needs to be typed into Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool true
Unfortunately, this won't work on Windows, so I would like to know if there's another way to have Single Window Mode.

No, there isn't. That feature is not implemented in the Windows version The only way to open targeted links in a new Tab is to Control-click or Right-click on the link and select Open in New Tab from the contextual menu.

  • Two content canvas in single window

    Hi friends,
Possible to put 2 content canvases in a single window, when im executing i should get both canvas display( if i adjust the size of canvas).
    Regards
    Veekay

    Hi Veekay
Possible to put 2 content canvases in a single window, when im executing i should get both canvas display( if i adjust the size of canvas).i don't think it's possible i haven't tried before... but u can use tab canvas or stacked canvas instead ?!
What's the problem ? All Forms must have at least 1 "Content" canvas in which all content is displayed. You can arrange the Stacked or Tabbed canvases on your Content canvas in such a way that the information in the Content canvas will be also visible while u can resize the stacked or tabbed canvas in a specific area of the content canvas.
if it would be possible why they invent stacked & tab canvas that's my point of view.
but u can give it a try to make sure by using in when button pressed trigger the following...
    show_view('canvas name');Hope it helps...
    Regards,
    Abdetu...
