Flickr folder forever syncing, images "pending" even though uploaded...

I just started testing out the Flickr folder sync option in iPhoto '09 (I've been using Flickr and have been managing via iPhoto using Flickr Exporter for years now) - on all of my original attempts, my Flickr folders always end up getting stuck in the sync cycle and the only way out is to force quit iPhoto. When this happens, I check my Flickr site and all the images have uploaded correctly, but iPhoto still reports it's syncing, and most of the images are marked "pending". Again, this never ends and the only way out is a force quit, but as soon as I launch iPhoto again, it goes back to syncing the Flickr folders (and around we go). Only way out is to delete the folder.
Now, I remember there being issues with the Facebook option in iPhoto '09 not liking certain characters (I had a "&" in a folder name and resulted in pretty much the same problems as above, but with Facebook). So, I was sure not to use and special characters, etc.
I'm unsure why this is happening?
Any suggestions?

I've had similar experiences when sync'ing stuff to Flickr. I find that it tends to get better once you let it do it's thing. Eventually the syncing subsides and the images won't be marked pending any more.
I have to say that it's a bit frustrating though and I almost cringe when I accidentally click on a Flickr album and see the sync icon start spinning. I haven't tested this but I believe you can change the sync settings in preferences to manual instead of automatic. This might help - but then you'd have another issue of having to manage your albums more.
You have to be careful when you Force Quit iPhoto during the sync freeze though, as I've done the same and ended up corrupting my iPhoto database and iPhoto couldn't open my picture library. Of course I hadn't done a recent backup so I had to download an app to recover the library for me.

In the Event mode use the View ➙ Sort ➙ By Date ➙ Decending menu option. Then the latest imports will be near the top of the Event window (depending on when the photos were taken of course).
Or Control-Click on one of the thumbnails in the Last Import album and select Show Event from the contextual menu:

Hi, I have just set up iTunes in my new computer and have 'synced' my iphone, however, my apps have not synced, I keep getting a message saying that this computer is not authorised to sync the apps even though I have authorised it. I assume there is more than ample space remaining on your iPod to hold all the videos? Are you getting any error messages during the sync process?
Do all of these videos play okay in iTunes? Is the sync only checked songs and videos option enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab?
What other setting do you have enabled from under the iPod's video configuration tab in iTunes?

Turn it off on both devices then turn it back on on both devices.

Videos won't sync to iPod, even though they show up in directory

I'm trying to sync some movies onto my iPod Touch 3rd gen. The movies are in mpeg4 and quicktime format.
I have dragged the files over successfully to my iTunes library... and these files also appear in the iPod directory for my iPod.
Now the problem: I don't understand why these movies won't show up on my iPod after I sync it?
I've retried many times with all sorts of different options clicked... but they never show up in the Videos on the iPod, even though they appear in the directory on my Mac.
Any suggestions much appreciated!

Itunes no longer syncs with ical even though it recognizes all my calendars

My first problem was that iTunes would only transfer over certain calendars, not all that I had selected. On top of that, some, but not all, of the start times were an hour later than my iCal calendars. And, I've been having issues with disappearing calendars. So, I restored the iPod and the following happened...
After connecting my ipod to my iMac, I went to iPod options and under calendar, I selected to "synchronize all calendars". iTunes found all my calendars. I clicked ok, iTunes says it's "updating calendars" and after a few moments my ipod is back to normal. But, when I navigate to calendars on the iPod, there are no calendars to be found.
So, I reinstalled itunes. deleted .plist files. I even exported all my calendars to .ics files and completely reinstalled iCal. Restarted the iMac a few times in between. Now, the only way I can get the calendars to show up on my ipod is to mount the ipod as a drive and copy over the .ics files. Since I have 16 calendars, the export and copy routine is not ideal.
I do not sync with entourage. I have a .mac account, but I don't sync with that either. Nor do I have the Mark Space app that seems to appear in a lot of threads about odd times and disappearing calendars.
I have a Gen3 20gb iPod with the latest updates, itunes (6.0.4) ical (2.0.3) and OS X 10.4.6 with 1 GB RAM and about 160 GB of available on the hard disk. My iPod has about 12 Gb of stuff on it.
Any clues as to what's happening or how I can solve this?

IPhone Calendar keeps syncing with Google even though no Gmail account on it

My iPhone calendar always shows all my work Gmail calender events- I can't get rid of this! There's no Gmail account on the phone- if I log in to https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect on the phone then I can't de-select it as the tickbox is greyed out.
I have no Google apps on the phone - so nothing I can delete there and I can't see anything about the phone in Google settings.
Any ideas?

Ipad syncing to itunes - even though I have an iPod already?

I've got a new iPad on the way - will my current iPod/iTunes a) work along with an iPad, b) will my music library sync to BOTH devices?

The iPad requires iTunes version 10.1 (you don't say which version you've got). Apart from that you can connect and sync as many devices as you like to your computer and your iTunes account, and you can either sync the same or different content to your iPod and iPad. Zipping folder keep getting permission error even though I have permission

I am trying to zip a folder containing a few hundred items. every time I try I get this error. I have administrative access and permission, transferred this to the files inside, tried to copy it to an other disk and still I get this error. Any ideas as to why?

I didn't show quotes in my post because you has OS_E there. But yes, quotes are necessary with the spaces so you did that correctly. But just to confirm it cd'ed type pwd on the next prompt. Tht will print the current working directory which should be the one you just cd'ed to.
As for the zip, I don't get it. It should have worked if Desktop-123folder was really there. That error you see is what you would get if the file or folder to zip wasn't there. For example,
zip -rq garbage.zip garbage
will produce the same error if "garbage" doesn't exist.
So as an additional check add a ls command to list the folder which will error out if the folder is not there. The total command sequence should now be,
cd "/Volumes/OS E/Users/e"
pwd
ls -ld Desktop-123folder
sudo zip -rq Desktop-123folder.zip Desktop-123folder
And don't bother with the zip is ls reports an error. You sure Desktop-123folder is in e? If you get an error from that ls it isn't.

Can i still sync my files even though i have corrupted files?

so i just put my itunes library on my new mac laptop from my pc. on my pc i have that stupid thing where it says it lost the pathway and i guess the files are now corrupted. BUT they still play on my ipod. I have synced my ipod several times not realizing this could cause a issue on my ipod, but the songs are still playing on my ipod but not my pc. so now the songs wont play on my mac either, but still play on my ipod. i want to download some more songs, but i am afraid to sync my mac and my ipod now for fear that it will replace the songs that work, with the corrupted files. also, i used my ipod as a external hard drive to transfer the files and haven't set it back up to do an automatic sync because once again i am afraid of losing the songs. the songs that are corrupt are ones from cds and ones i downloaded off itunes. but when i go to try to download the songs i already purchased, it doesn't get them all.

if the error you are getting is a disk copy error when trying to sync the ipod, then that error normally halts the sync process. that would be why you "synced" your ipod but the songs still play on your ipod... if you have a back up of your computer, then you can find and delete the file that is giving the read or copy error and replace it with your back up.
very important! if you are actually getting read or copy errors, then your disk may be beginning to fail. make sure that you have a good back up. if not then make one as soon as possible. as the saying goes, there are 2 kinds of hard disks: those that have failed and those that are going to fail... so protect yourself and make a back up if you wish to avoid the pain of loosing files.
if some other problem is happening, like the some files have been mistakenly deleted (outside of itunes) and itunes just cant find the files anymore, than that is a matter of resorting the files from a back up. i believe itunes will also halt a sync if it can't find a file...
there is a shareware utility called "podworks" which allows you to copy a song from your ipod and restore it to your computer if you've lost the song from your hard disk... but it will only copy what is still on your ipod, meaning that if you do a sync and some files get deleted from your ipod in the process, then you'll have to restore them another way. you can find podworks on versiontracker.com

Can I resize image boxes with the displayed handles as the User Manual suggests I can, when creating a book in Aperture 3 using the Formal Theme (with the beveled mask) and in Edit Layout mode? I can move the box with the yellow guidelines, but those handles will not move to allow me to adjust size. If I delete the box and add a photobox, I can resize, but I loose those nice beveled masks!

Well I tried on my wife's MB and it worked fine, but keeps the same aspect ratio. Nearly there. I tried the local Apple outlet, but they had just taken Aperture off the demo machine .
However, I have discovered that I can use the "right click" option for 'photo aspect ratio' and it will resize the box to accomodate my pictures. By fiddling I can select an alternative ratio and/or picture and change the size of the frame up or down and try to get an appropriate size and ratio, e.g. if I have a small landscape picture, I can pop in a bigger square picture (it gets cropped) then choose a portrait mode (cropped differently) then pop in my landscape picture (still cropped, but bigger size), then use the option 'photo aspect ratio', I get it uncropped and bigger. Not a really satisfactory work around, but better than nothing.
By combining they fiddling with aspect ratios and the pinch/squeeze routine - on the MB (or via Lion and a track pad I assume) - I should get there.
Pity those pesky handles don't work!!

After a few downloads, using "Save image as..." causes Firefox to download the image again even though its already on the screen.

You would think that having downloaded an image and displayed it on the screen, Firefox would be able to save the image to disk (using right-click, "Save image as...") without need of downloading it all over again. But that's exactly what it does after just a few image saves.
This can be both expensive and time consuming when I happen to be working via a mobile or dial-up connection, which is often.
Any ideas?

As an addendum, the 10.6.8 OS has also been sluggish when I log in or out of my computer (my old PowerBook G4 boots faster after being off). Otherwise, everything else seems normal.

Itunes wants me to sync my iphone even though I tried to select manual manage my music

So my computer died right before I got an iphone. My apple ID is set up with my old computer, so all the music I've downloaded have been added to my phone. I'm now sharing my boyfriend's computer, but when I went to add music to my phone is wouldn't allow me. I tried to select manually manage, but to apply it I have to sync my phone with the current library (which it the opposite thing I want when I click manually manage). I looked into it and syncing my phone will delete all the content not backed up on icloud. Is there another way to add music on my phone without deleting everything on it? I dont have any music from my old computer on my phone because my computer died before I could, all my music is from the cloud. Is there a way around syncing? I dont want my boyfriends music on my phone.

Try to disable autosync and backup manually by right clicking on your phone in the device list in itunes.
