Flickr Metadata Location

The flickr pictures shared using Apperture 3.3 do not include the embedded location metadata.
All the solutions for Apperture previous versions give an option in the advanced preferences tab that is no longer available.
Any ideas how to solve this riddle?

Another limitation.... select too many photos (like 50) and the Flickr Share option disappears.
So, USELESS for anyone other than dumb teen girls who take selfies.  Apple's new clients.

  • Can database link get metadata location when import database objects ?

I used database link to connect remote database . but i couldn't use it to get metadata location when i import database objects in OWB. OWB required me to create a new location which is diffirent from database link. I couldn't see a location, its type is database link. Anyone suggest me a answer ?

    Thank David Allen !
i can't see locations, that have type being database link from location's list in metadata location but i can see them from data locations.
When i add new location A ,its type isn't database link then i can see it ( location A) from metadata location, data locations
And when i view data from table imported , i get this error : " Data location not specified or does not currently support data viewing. Check if this object's owning module is configured with a location that support data viewing"

  • Proper use of location in metadata

I'm building my library of images now with LR and want to get started on the right foot. I store on CD. In Metadata "Location" I have entered the CD volume name as a way of identifying where the images are stored. But now I am wondering if the Metadata "Source" under workflow would be a better place to record the CD name such as "2007_03_08b" Can someone point me down the correct path so I don't regret my actions after thousands of images later? Thanks

<blockquote><span style="font-size: 90%><i>In Metadata "Location" I have entered the CD volume</i></span></blockquote>The IPTC metadata location is intended to store the physical location the shot was taken (as in "Museum", "City Hall", "Home"). It is also recommended to fill out the other location fields (Country, State, City) to make proper use of the Location Metadata Browser.<br /><br />Alexander.<br><span style="font-size: 75%; color: #408080">-- <br>Canon EOS 400D (aka. • DAM: integrate/harmonize Collections, Keywords and IPTC location

Lightroom currently presents the user with two independent methods to assign photos to a hierarchical structure: collections and keywords. Unless I missed something, keywords do everything that collections do, and more.
In addition, there is one structure that is inherently hierarchical, but is not currently implemented as such: the IPTC (metadata) location. For instance, the city of Amsterdam lies in the province of North Holland in The Netherlands, so entering Amsterdam in the 'City' field implies a province and a country.
Based on these observations, I have a couple of suggestions:
    * Enhance the usability of collections with a few of the keyword features: listing all assigned collections upon selection, and dragging collections onto photos to assign.
    * Allow users to convert collection trees to keyword trees, and possibly back (convenient for import/export, or changing ones mind as to what paradigm to use).
    * Allow users to either export a keyword tree to the IPTC location fields, or to make a dynamic link between the two (i.e. updating the keyword would immediately affect the location data). This feature would also require an 'exclusivity swith', see below.
    * Introduce an 'exclusivity switch' for keywords or collections, implying that you may only assign *one* keyword in its sub-tree to any particular image. This makes sense for location, because an image was made in a particular location, but it can also be used other contexts. For example, to indicate where the latest version of a file has been backed up to, or what the status (imported, selected, processed, finished) of a file is.
    * Introduce dynamic collections *and* dynamic keywords. I have read things about query-based dynamic collections coming to Lightroom, but please also create 'dynamic keywords'. This would allow keywords to remain the catch-all organization structure, instead of dividing functionality across collections and keywords.
I think these features could make a significant contribution to Lightroom's DAM capabilities. If implemented alongside improved search capabilities, they would allow me (and possibly others) to stop using my stand-alone DAM application.
    Simon

John, I had forgotten the fact that keywords do not have any output settings associated with them, unlike collections. I support your idea of indicating which collections have these settings attached to them.
Still, except for this point, keywords can currently be made to do the same things that collections do. You can even keep them private by choosing not to export certain keywords. Note that even though this is the case, I do not ask for the abolishment of collections per se, because it is convenient to maintain the *conceptual* difference (in addition to the output metadata in collections).
On the locations, I don't think the 'problem' is solved simply by exporting the location data to a keyword tree. It's the other direction that would greatly speed up the workflow. For example, dragging Amsterdam (potentially one of many Amsterdams) onto an image, would automatically assign the higher level fields as well. A metadata preset would indeed do the same, but only after one has created such a preset for every location, which can quickly add up.
Also, I did not mean to imply that dynamic keywords would be beneficial for keeping track of the location metadata. In general, dynamic categories (collections or keywords) are very useful for saving searches or keeping track of an internal workflow (like: if an image is not in a backup collection, it is not backed up). Specifically, I can imagine someone wanting to couple a search result to an exported keyword. For example, for a personal website or a Flickr account, you may want to tag images with the keyword '5stars' that is automatically generated.
The way I see it, there is currently no real difference in the logical structures that can be constructed using collections and keywords. The distinctions between the two are in the input or output phase. It would be a shame to see the logical capabilities of collections enhanced with 'smart' collections, whilst leaving keywords behind.
By the way, I'm all for a scripting interface, but I think that it's best to get the basics implemented in the right way first.
    Simon
PS - You pointed out the existence of custom fields as a workflow solution. I have no experience with them, and don't have access to Lightroom on this machine, so I'll get back on that later.

  • Lightroom and Flickr ID feature gap

I'm confounded by Lightroom and its plug-ins' lack of support for Flickr's photo-ID.
Flickr photo-ID is a unique 10, 11, or 12 digit number assigned to a photo when it is uploaded to their site.
The number is used in Flickr URLs and by 3rd parties like wikipedia and wikimedia   http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=233397357&size=o  and Apple's Aperture Flickr ID meta data field.    ( The id=233397357 is the Flickr photo Id number.)
Why is this useful?  Just type that ID number into a Google search, don't include the word Flickr or ID, you will see that Flickr ID is referenced by at least ten different websites that Google searches!  Wouldn't that ID be useful information to have in your Lightroom metadata?
The schemes used by Lightroom plugin developers seem to rely on things in the file names or metadata that can change, (creation date, upload date, filename) When contacted, the LR plugin developers say they can't do something that Apple and the Aperture plug-in developers have been doing for years. Admittedly, it's not an IPTC defined field, but we have plenty of custom fields to use.
The Flickr photo-ID doesn't change if you change filename, caption, add keywords or comments, sync metadata, or do any post processing (including cropping) - other than replacing the file from your desktop.  Which seems to me to be safe so that, for example, a URL pointing to the picture above by the Wikipedia article, doesn't suddenly find a pornographic picture there.
    Jay

Have you tried the third-party Export to Flickr plugin, which has many more features than the Flickr publish service built-in to LR?  It provides the Flickr URL via the "At Flickr" metadata field, which you can access via LR's Metadata panel, with the metadata set All Plug-in Metadata.   The URL contains the Flickr ID.

Could you please let me know how to solve this and how to create such location with OMB*Plus?
    Thanks,
    Sebastian

    Hi David,
Thanks a lot for the tip. Now I was able to use this and using a registered location.
OMBCREATE LOCATION 'X' SET PROPERTIES (TYPE,VERSION,CONNECTION_TYPE, SCHEMA) VALUES ('ORACLE_DATABASE','11.1','DATABASE_LINK','MY_SCHEMA')
OMBCREATE CONNECTOR 'REGISTERED_LOC/X SET PROPERTIES (DATABASE_LINK_NAME) VALUES ('MY_DBLINK') SET REF LOCATION 'X'
    OMBCOMMIT
    OMBCC '/MY_PROJECT'
    OMBCAC 'DEFAULT_CONFIGURATION'
    OMBCONNECT CONTROL_CENTER USE 'owb_user/owb_user'
    OMBREGISTER LOCATION 'X' REUSE
OMBCOMMITBut now my question is the following.
I am having problems to import the metadata from X.
When create a module (source), I am able to make "data location" from location 'X' but when I want to import a table from location 'X' is not possible, because it shows as a plausible metadata location as "REGISTERED_LOC"
Could you please let me know how to use 'X' as metadata location?
    Thanks!

  • Export 100% quality photos with metadata?

I've spent hours searching the web and this forum but can't figure out how to do this.
    SUMMARY:
How do I export a set of photos from iPhoto '09 while preserving the photo's image quality and its metadata? I want a 100% identical copy of the photo to be exported.
    DETAILS:
I've noticed throughout this forum that when people ask how to move their photos to another computer or to use with a different photo tool, whilst preserving metadata, the normal answer is to use File-->Export. The problem, I'm finding, is that you don't get an exact copy of the photo that's in iPhoto ––OR–– you don't get the metadata included with the export, depending on which export choices you make.
    1. If you choose to Export the photo(s) in Current or Original, then you get a 100% quality photo but you don't get all the metadata: Location, Keywords, Title. (You do get the original metadata that was put there by your digicam or scanner prior to importing into iPhoto, however.)
    2. If you just drag the photo(s) out of the iPhoto window, you get an identical copy of the original without the extended metadata, as in the previous method.
    3. If you choose to Export the photo(s) in JPEG, then you can include the Location, Keyword, and Title metadata. However, the exported photo is not the same size as the original.
    - JPEG Quality: High results in photos that are about 1/2 the size of the original.
    - JPEG Quality: Maximum results in photos that are about TWICE the size of the original.
I don't really understand what it means to take a 2 MB JPEG iPhoto original from my digicam and export it in Maximum resulting in a 4 MB JPEG copy. All that extra size surely cannot be worth anything, as the best you can get is what was in the original. So you're doubling the size for no benefit. Actually, it seems likely that the copy is WORSE than the original because of lossy file-format conversion errors, similar to why it's a bad idea to convert a 128kbs AAC song to a 128kbs MP3 song in iTunes, or make a copy of a cassette tape (for those of you old enough to remember analog).
The Crux Dilemma: It appears that I can EITHER
    1. export a 100% identical copy of my photo but lose my extended metadata,
    2. export a modified (either 1/2- or Double-size) JPEG copy that has all the metadata.
This is frustrating me. My friends and I took hundreds of pictures. I've imported them into iPhoto, edited them, Keyword tagged them, GeoTagged them, and now I want to give them their 100%-quality copies of the photos, and I can't figure out how to do it.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    David

Terence, thank you for your quick reply!
You basically confirmed what I found out by trial-and-error.
Unfortunately, I think the news is bad. Here's why:
A typical picture in my iPhoto library, a JPEG taken by a compact digicam, is 1.8 MB. Let's compare that to the sizes of the same picture when exported using the various options:
1.8 MB - Current or Original; - metadata not included.
11.4 MB - TIFF - lossless, all metadata included
3.1 MB - JPEG Maximum - lossy but all metadata included
0.7 MB - JPEG High - lossy but all metadata included
You wrote "For my money the best bet is the tiff". I know tiff's are the highest quality format (non-lossy), but, in my case anyway, they're 6.3 X larger.
Is it really true that the only way to move my photos out of iPhoto while preserving 100% of the quality and all the extended metadata is to increase the size of my photos over 6 times? Really?
That seems a bit ridiculous. Consider a library of 10,000 photos averaging 2 MB each (which is on the small side these days). That library would be at least 20 GB (not really considering all the additional space used by thumbnails, dupes, etc). But if I want to export all those photos in a lossless way while preserving metadata, the size will jump to over 126 GB!!
Many of us have Macs with hard drives large enough to easily handle a 20GB iPhoto library, but if that library suddenly exported itself into a 126 GB monster, that would challenge many of our hard drives.
Is there really no other way?

  • How to find out locations whether it is in use or not in use

    Hi All,
I want to delete all unused locations from my FDM application. Can you please help me, how to find the locations that are not in use?
    Regards,
    PB

You can view the tdataseg(x) table that the location is associated with and sort by period key as needed.
    Select PartitionKey,Part Name,Partsegmentkey
    from tpovpartiton
This will return the location, location id and segment key.  The segment key is the data segment that the location is associated with.
You can then query this table and sorty by period key to see what periods the location has data imported for.
This should give you an idea and you can then delete your locations from within the Metadata > Locations Menu in FDM.
Keep in mind that once the location is deleted, and data associated with the location will also be deleted (Historical Data)
    Hope that answers your question.

  • Invalid Location for operator while batch mapping

    Hi,
I am using 10.2g version of OWB and while deploying the batch mapping, I am getting errors like:
"VLD-1134: Invalid location for operator DATE_REF_SEQ_0.
Configured location for operator does not exist or is not a valid location under the referenced module."
The "DATE_REF" is one of the tables in the database. Similarly, I am getting error for many of these operators while i try to deploy the batch mapping. Could you please help us on how can we change the location of these operators in the design center/control center?
    Thanks,
    Vipul

    Hi ,
VLD-1134 error comes when the location in configuration properties is not set or pointing to a different location.
This generally happens when you migrate OWB code from 1 server to another or from 1 version to another.
Goto your OWB 10.2 Designer .
Towards right side you will find Connection Explorer
Create new location pointing to your database ( If location is already available then note down the name )
Now on your Source module set the metadata location and data location . You can do this by double clicking onto the module name .
Do the same for your Target module .
You need to set the location for Streams Administrator and Location from module Configuration .
    Thanks,
    Sutirtha

  • head content & dynamic metadata with APEX?

Most government and public sector work now mandates the inclusion of various forms of metadata located in the page header, such as [Dublin Core|http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc5013.txt], keywords and PICS information. Usually this information is included as name/value pairs using [&lt;meta&gt;|http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/global.html#h-7.4.4.2] elements.
I wondered what techniques are being used in APEX to inject this (and other) information into the page header, when it needs to be determined dynamically from parameter values and retrieved from the database?
In a recent Oracle Portal project this proved less straightforward than hoped. Convinced things would prove easier in APEX I've considered 3 approaches so far:
    1. If the elements are fixed for the page, the metadata elements can of course simply be typed into the page HTML Header (why doesn't Portal have this?!)
    2. With a small number of fixed elements with dynamic content, include e.g. &lt;meta name="keywords" value="&KEYWORDS." /&gt; elements in the HTML Header or page template header, and generate the substitution value using application items and computations.
    3. For a variable number of elements or other more complex scenarios, move the &lt;/head&gt; tag into the page template body ([still find the division of the page template definition baffling|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1289074&#1289074]) and put a region position placeholder (e.g. #REGION_POSITION_04#) before &lt;/head&gt;. A template-less PL/SQL Dynamic Content region can now be set at this display point to call whatever PL/SQL is necessary to inject elements using htp.meta or htp.p.
    Any other thoughts?
    Edited by: fac586 on Oct 9, 2008 9:26 PM
Just discovered #REGION_POSITION_04# is substituted in the page definition header area. Said I found that confusing...

I am used to do that all the time at www.spesadove.it where i generate the title, the page description, the keywords basing on the content of certain database tables. See an example here:
    http://www.spesadove.it/pls/apex/f?p=19883:10:0:::RP:P10_SALE_ID:383
In short, i set the value of certain items in before header computations, then i retrieve the value inside meta tags by using substitution strings like &P0_KEYWORDS. or &P0_TITLE.

  • RTC-5190: There is no location associated with the current module ...

    Hello,
First to know, my experience with OWB is very limited.
I have a OWB version 10 repository and I have to import a *.mdl file (using ./owbclient.sh). The import went fine and it consists in a Databases->Oracle module with some mappings, tables sequences etc.
Now I want to Deploy some objects but I receive a error:
"RTC-5190: There is no location associated with the current module, operation abandoned."
I've created a location and I've edited the imported module to associate it with the location (right click on the module->Open Editor) in Metadata Location and Data Location tabs, but it still throws the error when I try to deploy. Do you have any idea what can I do more?
    Thank you,
    Adrian

    Hello,
The .mdl file was generated by somebody else and I can't request another export. And also I didn't found any "import locations" check.
Anyway, at import I've seen a warning message about a location that it can't find. So I've renamed the location to be the same with the one that can't be found. This way the initial error is not thrown. But in Control Center Manager in Job Summary there is a java error about the results being exhausted. God for me that I had the idea to restart the OWB client and now it works fine.
OWB is such a bad product!
    Thanks guys.

  • Gallery: read Metadata tags

    Hello,
LR-WEB-Gallery provides options to read metadata tags and insert them into WEB-pages by means of this code:
    ["perImageSetting.keywords"] = {
      enabled = true,
      value = "{{com.adobe.keywords}}",
      title = LOC "$$$/WPG/HTML/CSS/properties/ImageKeywords=Keywords",
and then using the selector and the template text editor in the WEB-UI.
This method is a bit cumbersome.
On the other hand some tags can be inserted directly into the details.html like so:
    <p>$image.metadata.keywords</p>
I prefer this method as it allows to place the desired tags indivdually on the grid.html or details.html.
I am now curious to learn about a list of the tags that can be read that way because I found that many very common tags are not read that way.
A list of tags is in the SDK 3.0 but I can't get it to work for most of the tags (not all).
The values for all these tags are in database (Library Module) and the data has been saved to xmp-sidecar files.
Still, the data is not read and results as 'nil'.
Hopefully this is only a syntax issue only.
Below some examples of common tags not being read:
    $image.metadata.title
    $image.metadata.copyright
    $image.metadata.location
    $image.metadata.isoCountryCode
    $image.metadata.city
    $image.metadata.state
    $image.metadata.country
    ...results
    Location:nil
    ISO Country Code:nil
    City:nil
    Thanks for replies.

    Hi,
I'm referring to the "TAGS" field.
I know they appear, but do they serve any purpose beyond simply appearing there? It seems redundant with the DESCRIPTION field. We were told the TAGS field would server some other, more sophisticated purpose, and I wanted to know if that purpose had ever been implemented. Our editorial team doesn't see any value in creating the content for the TAGS field if all it does is display in the browse mode. And I tend to agree. The TAGS field is not searchable as far as I know, or is it???
    Kindest regards,
    Brad

  • Issue With Metadata In THM Files

It seems in LR3, THM files with embeded metadata (location) had no issues displaying.
In LR4 beta, only sublocation and country code are displaying (city , state , country are blank).
P.S: Altitude and GPS display fine.
    Thanks

  • Metadata Host Name

    Hi All.
I need to extract mapping information from the OWB respository. I have managed to extract everything I need except one small piece (of fairly critical) data: the host name. I figured it would be stored in the locations view or the modules view but it's not in either.
If you look in Project->Database->Oracle->DB Name and then right-click->open editor, you get the module editor. Under the metadata location tab is database information like username, host, port, service and schema. What I need is the host name.
I did find the database link information in the information systems view but that turned out not to be the info I needed.
Any ideas where this might be stored? It's go to be in there somewhere. I'm going blind digging through these views. ;-)
    Thanks in advance.

Try the view cmpstringpropertyvalue_v. For example, to list all the properties of a location
    SELECT val.logicalname, val.value
    FROM
    cmpstringpropertyvalue_v val,
    cmplocation_v loc
    WHERE val.propertyowner=loc.elementid
    AND loc.name = '<location name>';

  • How to add a new view in Factsheet to collect data from R3

    Hi Experts,
I need to add a new view in Account Factsheet called  'Open Delivery data'
which will collect the delivery data from R3 system.
As I know we have two Function Modules (at CRM) 'CRMT_ERP_FACT_SHEET_RETRIEVE'
    (at R3) 'CRM_CCKPT_EXPORTSUMMARY'
All We need to do is create view which calls the data from R3 Via these modules.
    How should I proceed.
    Is this relevent steps :-

    Hi Sandeep,
To add a new currency in Metadata, just add in Currencies dimension, and to add in Data form-just send the script what you are using as of now for rest of the currencies, or follow the same steps as specified above. or just add the script A#CLORATE.w#Periodic.C2#XYZ in rows of your data form (where XYZ- is the new currency).
To add a new location in FDM login to FDM web client- click on Metadata--> locations and select the Controls review location where you want to add the data load location, right click and add the new location.
