Flickr set up won't open Safari (can't add Flickr accont)

I had a flickr account set up with iPhoto, which I then removed via Preferences --> Accounts. I then tried to add a new Flickr account, when doing so, iPhoto asks if I want to set up iPhoto to upload pictures to Flickr. There are 2 options, Set Up and Cancel. Hitting on Set Up should open a web page to login to Flickr, however, nothing happens. I do get a brief "Authorizing" that appeares in the set up/cancel dialog for a second, then it dissappears.
I've deleted the plists, removed iphoto flickr entry from keychain, deleted and reinstalled iphoto, even tried to restore the hard drive from time capsule using an image from before removing the old Flickr account. I have no idea why the time capsule restore didn't work, but the problem is persisting.

Thanks for your advice, but I'm still stuck. I installed IC-Switch successfully and set it to Firefox, but .html files still default to Safari! So I dragged Safari into the trash to see what would happen then... now html files default to open in Word! I don't even have that as an option on IC-Switch! Any help is still appreciated.

My Safari won't open and Can't find Genieo Files so that may not be the problem

Safari 8.0.2 update installed today. I got a

Safari 8.0.2 update installed on my MacBook Pro wi OS X Yosemite. Now I can't open Safari. I get a message ""Safari Quit Unexpectedly". I see other people having the same problem have been told they have the Genieo Adware installed on their computer. I followed the instructions and did not find any of the Genieo files on my computer. I did have an Installmac folder in my downloads which I deleted. Otherwise, I need assistance on getting my Safari to work again.

Any link to a web page will cause Mail to lock up and become unresponsive, and won't open the web page in Safari.
The only way out of this is to back out to the home screen, double-click on the home button, then select the Mail app icon, holding it until I can "close" it. You ran a defective third-party "utility" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

Photo won't open - but can see thumbnail

Hello all,
First off the bat, this is my mother's computer and I have no idea what to do with a mac, I've always used a PC. I've asked her about it & she's looked into it with me but we can find no answer. Mom had updated iPhoto to 5.0.4, and wanted to buy me a photo album as a gift. I could design it, blah blah blah, long story shorter - While saving an edit, iPhoto froze & I had to close it. When I opened it again, I have the tumbnail of the picture I was editing, but the picture itself won't open, and in the album it's got one of those beautiful exclamation points over it. In the information box, other pics have a size of 2201x1709, but this one is 0x0. I really liked this picture. What in the world is going on?
Oh, and after all this happened, Mom told me that I should have duplicated all the pictures. I still don't understand that. HELP!!

I can't tell you that for sure. I am guessing that the edited photo was not saved, but the original was still there in the iPhoto Library (not visible to you though)
You can navigate to the proper folder in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder to check and see if it is there. Do not touch or move anything though, just look and see if it is there.
The following link will show how the Library is organized in the Finder. If you know the year and day the photo was taken it should be easy to find.
This is a view of how the iPhoto Library looks in the Finder.
It is organized by Year folders. Inside the Year folders are Month folders. Inside the Month folders are the days of the Month. Inside the day folders are the photos you took on that day. If you imported video clips and RAW files on that day they will be in an Originals folder. If you have edited any photo imported on that day, the original will be in that folder also.

Keynote (6.2) file won't open. Can I make a new Index.zip file using some of the extracted .iwa files?

Keynote (6.2) file won't open (hung and crashed during auto-OS update). Trying to salvage everything possible. I know about grabbing the pictures from Data folder, but is there a way to extract the good .iwa files and make a new Index.zip?
Tried extracting, capturing uncorrupted .iwa and deleting corrupted ones, but can't figure out how to re-compress to readable format for Keynote. Seems silly that I can't ge the new .zip file to work. There has to be some sort of manual work-around, yeah?

This problem has been reported to the AppleWorks team, but I doubt that we will ever hear if there is a fix. AppleWorks 6 is now nearly 6 years old & hasn't even had an update since March, 2004.
Nothing has been found to be able to make AppleWorks 6.2.9 open the problem files. I've had it happen & not happen with all AppleWorks file types. These files can be opened by any other version of AppleWorks 6, including the OS 8/9 component 6.2.8. If you have the retail version of AppleWorks & have Classic installed, you can "Force" AppleWorks 6 to open in Classic to open the files, save them as AW 6 files & then open them in the OS X version. You do want to make sure you don't have both the Classic & OS X versions of AppleWorks 6 running at the same time. I find it much easier to use AppleWorks 5 in Classic to open & save the files. AppleWorks 6.2.9 has no problem opening AppleWorks 5 files.

I have photoshop elements 11. It was working and then I had to close the program and go do something else. When I turned my computer back on I couldn't get elements to open any of my files. It won't open Jpg or Raw. I've tried restarting my computer mulitple times and It hasn't changed. It still won't open files. It will freeze and then close out of the program. Can someone please help me? I just recently got this program for christmas and i'm really wanting it to work.

Please try this:
Solution 1:
1) Close Elements.
2) Hit on PSE desktop icon to launch welcome screen
3) Click Alt+Ctrl+Shift on your keyboad and with all three keys pressed click Photo editor. Do not release when you will see a dialog box asking you to delete the PSE preferences.
4) Hit ok and check now.
Solution 2:
1) Launch Editor.
2) Hit File->open and choose any small file of size < 1 MB and see if it opens fine
3) Try file->open as and choose any file and choose camera raw from file format and when shown ACR dialog box hit ok and will open file in editor.
I hope you are not importing fron any network location which might cause the process to slow or freeze depending on network settings and secutiry issues.

When trying to open Firefox on XP laptop, says FFx 3+ needed; won't open, so can't download new version.

This is being written on my iMac. Problem computer is my Toshiba XP laptop on the same (hard-wire) line via a router. The iMac is up to date; the iMac is used for all current Internet activity. I use the laptop for technical work, and only rarely need Internet.

Can you add a screenshot of the error message? As far as I know, you'll have to reinstall the software to reinstall the license manger.

Safari Won't Open and Can't Reinstall

All of a sudden Safari will not open and ends with the following message:Safari cannot open a browser window and may be missing important resources. Try installing Safari again.I have tried to install it from my original Tiger disk but it starts and then quits saying that there was an error with the install. Firefox works fine.Please help.

If you want to try reinstalling the original Safari, first you must delete the version that's on your system, as well as the Safari312UpdPPC.pkg file in HD/Library/Receipts. Then insert your Mac OS X install/restore disc and navigate to the Optional Installs folder and open the Optional Installs.mpkg file inside that. You can select a number of different packages to install, including Safari, so check just that item and Install.
When that's done, you will have Safari 2.0, so then you'll have to use Software Update to update to Safari 3.1.2. After that, try starting Safari to see if it works again.
