Flickr share limitations

Flickr share is significantly less capable than in iPhoto.
a. There is no way to create a new album when uploading.
b. Title and description fields are discarded, not copied to the Flickr pane, and if re-entered, are not uploaded if more than one photo is uploaded at a time.
c. Keywords are discarded, not copied to the Flickr pane, but if re-entered, are uploaded to the Flickr tags field.
d. Location metadata is discarded, no matter what the setting of “Include location information for published items”
e. The photo file name is copied to the title field. It can be edited, however, if more than one photo is uploaded in a batch, all titles are lost.
These limitations make the Flickr share unusable.

Another limitation.... select too many photos (like 50) and the Flickr Share option disappears.
So, USELESS for anyone other than dumb teen girls who take selfies. Apple's new clients.

I'm afraid that it looks as though not much is happening to fix the problem. I raised a bug report on the feedback site only recently. Feel free to log in there and add your name to the count.
Elements share to Flickr not working
f you add to that thread, can you make sure you increment the count at the top please. At the top, just at the end of my first entry, there is a count saying "n People have this question" and there is a +1 button next to it - click on that button. The count should then increment and the message should change to "you have this question".
I think that the more people that add to the count, the better chance of a fix.
For what its worth, I can share to Flickr using Lightroom so they must know how to do it.

CIFS share limitation

I have a problem with the CIFS shares on the 7000-series...
On our Windows server, I have a directory for the Marketing department, to which they have full access. Inside this is a directory containing all their public documentation, which I share out (read-only) to everyone in the company. I don't seem to be able to replicate this on the Sun simulator - it tells me it's not allowed.
It appears that in the Sun world, a filesystem is the equivalent of a share and there is no further, finer level of sharing. Every share must be a root share, but why? That's like limiting a Windows server to sharing the root of a drive and no more.
Other NAS solutions have the ability to nest shares within a filesystem, so why not Sun?
I could probably use DFS on the Windows server to map shares into the correct structure, but the whole point of us getting a NAS box is to remove the need for the Windows server.
Any suggestions? :)

User (Owner) = Full Access=rwx+inheritance
Other = x+inheritance
Domain Admin = Full Access=rwx+inheritanceshare "username" => G:\shome\username (Default ACL)
Inherit from above (shome)
Group Staff = rx+inheritanceBy the looks the Sun way is to setup up every share with all the relevant ACL, since you can not setup ACL on the directory above (project). Am I correct

Screen Share Limits

If we decide to fully utilize just the screen sharing component is there a limit.
Does anybody know what are the user limits for Screen Sharing if any?
What are the user limits for each room for screen sharing?
Is the limit due to the protocol being used at the time? Does it work like the Audio / Video where it uses P2P or does it always use RTMP?

As I mentioned earlier, currently p2p is supported only for audio/video streams in LCCS and not screen share streams. So, as of now, there is no way to get free of charge though we provide quite a bit of free usage.
We may revisit providing p2p in future, though we don't have anything immediate on this on our plate.
When we will provide p2p, it will behave in the same manner as audio/video with similar limits. And even when you do p2p ,you still get charged just for connection time.

Why does Flickr share not work in Elements 9?

When I try to use it a message appears 'its being worked on' This has been an issue for 4 days. What do I do to use Flickr?

I'm really new to this forum business. Is there a difference between Photoshop elements and plain Elements? I thought I was in a forum that could answer my question about Flickr not working in elements or photoshop elements 9. I need someone to lead me out of the desert and deliver me to a place where I'll find what I'm looking for.

Flickr Metadata Location

The flickr pictures shared using Apperture 3.3 do not include the embedded location metadata.
All the solutions for Apperture previous versions give an option in the advanced preferences tab that is no longer available.
Any ideas how to solve this riddle?

Error message end tag and start tags dont match when publishing to flickr from lightroom 5.3

I have had an ongoing problem that lightroom publishing to flickr times out frequently when uploading many photos. However, for about the last week or two weeks i have been getting a different error message:
Error message: “Can’t update this collection. An internal error has occurred: End tag ‘body’ does not match the start tag ‘hr’.
Windows 7 system.
I set up a photoset in lightroom (have tried both smart and regular photosets with same results). These photosets can contain anywhere from 16 to 3000 or more photos. The first photos are uploaded – maybe 10, maybe 100, maybe 1000. Then it generally seems to stop working. Sometimes I can continue publishing new photos or republishing, sometimes I cant. For example I currently have 11 flickr publish photosets in one lightroom catalog, with the following success numbers:
NAHCR00 total 3044, published: 1851
NAHCR01 total 748,published: all
NAHCR03 total: 532 published: all
NAHCR04 total: 412 published: all
NAHCR05 total: 340 published: 152
NAHCR07 total: 248 published: 50
NAHCR08 total: 524 published: 197
NAHCR09 total: 44 published: all
NAHCR10 total: 40 published: all
NAHCR11 total: 32 published: all
NAHCR12 total: 124 published: 4
I have succeeded in uploading over 28000 pictures from flickr (mostly from three other lightroom catalogs to several flickr account, both paid and free). The other catalogs marks the photosets as public and generally seems to be more successful at uploading.
All of these problem photosets are marked as private so that only I can see them. The photos themselves have peculiar names including many special characters including chinese characters, arabic alphabets, spaces, commas, exclamation marks etc etc. I tried telling lightroom to rename the files to names with no special characters but it still fails.
I emailed Flickr with the above information and this was their response:

First, Lightroom is a 3rd-party application; we can't offer any support for it. Please contact the developer of that application for help.

If you have either of these applications, disable the "Link Scanner", add Uploadr to the exceptions list, and then try to upload. If the issue persists, temporarily turn off the anti-virus / firewall and try to upload again.

Lastly, here are some general troubleshooting steps that you can try:
Most connection issues arise due to a problem between your computer and Flickr and are often temporary. Try the following:

If you're connected through a router, try plugging directly into the broadband modem.
See your manual for configuration options if the router is slowing or blocking uploads.
Also, try lowering your # or matching it to your ISP's value.

Try uploading with an alternate method:The web upload page, the Uploadr app, or upload by email.
If you're using an older version of Uploadr, update to the latest version.
Search our forums to see if there are any specific network hardware incompatibilities.

I had the same problen with Lightroom 5 - Prepares the files but won't Upload to Blurb. Tried numerours times. It is a Landscape size Book 132 Pages. There is a BUG in Lightroom and here is how I got it to work:
Check each slide and make sure APPLY BACKGROUND GLOBALLY, GRAPHIC or BACKGROUND COLOR and not checked,. If so Uncheck them.
Go to EDIT and SELECT ALL Slides in the Book.
Select Apply Background Globally - turn it off and on several times, then leave it off
Select GRAPHIC - turn it off and then turn it on and off several times
Select BACKGROUND COLOR - turn it on then off then on then off
I ended up with APPLY GLOBALLY unchecked for Every Page.
GRAPHIC was turned on with a Graphic set at 12% Opacity on every Page
Again check each page first for these Checkmarks or just fix exverything with SELECT ALL.
Background Color was Turned off.
NOW UPLOAD THE BOOK - It took a couple hours but it uploaded without a hitch., I turned off all Firewalls and Plugged directly into the Router. I am using an IMac 27" with 32 GB of memory and this is the only way it would work. The Mac is about 7 days old and Lightroom 5 is also 7 days old. BUGGIEST piece of software I have ever used.
Note - one of the above steps fixes the BUG - I am not sure which one but one will fix your book. It finally uploaded to BLURB today. It took a few hours though.

Need advice about passwords and the cloud

I had/have Power Book, won a mini and wanted to share limited things between the two. Stopped by an apple store while on vacation and a nice helper at the apple store set up apple email for me on the mini...BUT I think I have 2 separate passwords now and I don't know how to get the 2 items to share info. I don't have apple mail on the laptop and thats fine I just wanted a NEW email on the mini that I could use to send photos but didn't want teh 10K of emails off my laptop to drop into my mini so I was fine with the new email BUT want my calendars to show up on each device and photos....

Sharing settings across a network

Okay, I've searched to no avail. Is it possible to share mail settings and smart folders with constantly updating messages across a home network. This is what happens at my work. We use Outlook, and whatever computer I log into with my account, the Outlook I open updates (in the moment) and has all of the same messages/rules/folders as the computer I logged off in another room.
Can you do something like this on a home network?

Looks like I definitely posted this into the wrong forum.
After experimenting extensively, I consulted with Apple Technical support.
I was able to get the HD on the Airport Extreme to be visible on the other computers by fiddling with the settings in Finder Prefs.
However it is not possible to create aliases of the content of the hard drive nor get Front Row to view anything on the Airport Extreme HD.
iTunes will either copy the media over to the local HDs, spawning masses of files without any way to check a common set, or lose track of them after restarts.
I enquired if Apple's Time Capsule was any better, and other than being an all in one device with a fat ticket price, the answer is no.
Apple TV will only share limited media over a small selection of computers, too little and too few for my purposes.
So to sum up.
Why does Apple even bother, given it has done such a half baked job?

Back in the days of the N73, about which this topic was started, phone software was less sophisiticated than it is now and the phone had to share limited memory and processing resources across a wide range of features and applications, which is why it was not previously possible to give such a wide choice.

The above provides information on Server 2008 R2. In Server 2012 fair share cpu has been improved for heavier loads and new functionality has been added to distribute network bandwidth and disk IO among sessions as well. Precise details
on how network and disk fair share work have not been published.
Windows System Resource Manager is not available for Server 2012 R2.
You may want to consider writing your own programs to monitor/alert on resource usage per tenant and/or purchasing third party software. Server 2012 R2 RDSH is excellent, however, it is not designed for full multi-tenancy. If you
need strong isolation/control of each tenant in terms of security, resources, etc., then unfortunately each tenant needs to be in a separate VM.

Limit printing to one time

Is it possible to use acrobat.com to post a PDF file, share
limited acces to people and then only allow them to print one copy
of the PDF?
We need to post training courseware, share it with paying
students and allow them to login and print one copy for their use.
How do we accomplish this if not with acrobat.com?

NForce 1 memory config - HELP!!

I have the original nForce motherboard (K7N420Pro) with the current BIOS (v2.7) and currently I have all the slots filled (3x256MB) with DDR2100 RAM. I just bought 2 brand new sticks of RAM and I want to replace my old ram with the new.
I dont know that slots to put them in to enable the dual channel controller.Do I use slots 1&2, or 1&3, etc. I know with the different versions of the BIOS, that the sticks were changed to enable the dual channel controller, vs the super stability settings, or what ever they were called.
So can anyone help me and tell me what slots to put my new ram into?

Yup. 2 double sided dimms in any slots retains twinbank function.
As I recall, either controller can read or write to either stick concurently, and once there were more than 5 banks of memory, the controllers have to share limited addressing traces and take turns fetching , thus losing any benifit of 2 controllers.
My superstitious explanation might not hold water to the BIOS programers, but to the users its good as gold.
Twin channel memory helps when 2 devices request read/write actions at the same time, such as AGP upload and DMA writes.
There should be no waiting in my lobby!!!!
