Flickr upload failures in Mac PSE 9

Hi, I've not yet managed to get Flickr upload working in PSE 9 on MacOS 10.6.6.
The symptom is that the upload brings up a blank, white window which is rapidly replaced by a grey window with the error:
Sorry, an error occurred during the uploading process. Please try again later.
On the first attempt, I was invited to authorise Adobe PhotoServices to access my Flickr account and this appeared to go OK, but then the upload failed.  I've followed troubleshooting advie from Adobe on the web but to no avail.
I did manage to upload from a PC running PSE9 and the MAC upload worked once afterwards, but has failed ever since.
Has anyone go any suggestions please?

Thanks Barbara, I assumed it would be the same as Windows.

Perhaps try the Editor top menu:
File > Process Multiple Files
Then choose an output folder on your hard drive or CD/DVD etc.
Otherwise use iPhoto:
File -> Export, Kind: Original etc.

  • Flickr upload syncing

Using the Flickr uploader changes information in photos. Why is the following happening? Any way to change it.
    1. It causes them to take on the date of the upload to Flickr rather than their actual EXIF date. This is annoying me to death since I like to have my photos organized by date correctly.
    2. The original file takes on the name of Flickr's custom name for the image. This means that when I import folders, the original file thinks it hasn't been imported yet and tries to again.

I am also of the view that the Flickr publishing in LR (inc 3.4RC) is seriously broken in several respects including a failure to be able to republish a set of photos which are private and not publically searchable – an API error occurs on republishing.  Also for your publically published photos if you ever re-publish, they become marked as not-publically searchable when they get to Flickr.     This may be relevant if you expect your photos to be publically found based on your tagging or titles showing up in searches.
I too recommend Jeffrey Friedl’s plugin until such as time as Adobe chose to fix this or strike up a commercial relationship with Jeffrey to ship his.

  • Tags/Captions and Flickr Upload w/ PSE4

Not sure if this is a PSE problem or a Flickr problem, figured I'd ask here first to see if anyone else uploads to Flickr.
I caption and tag my pictures in PSE, then do a "write tags to file". When I upload those pictures to Flickr (using the Flickr Uploader), maybe 95% do not have a caption, and 5% does. The difference with that 5% is that those are pictures I've edited within PSE multiple times. It seems like either my PSE captions aren't getting saved with the rest of the pictures, or Flickr isn't pulling them.
Anyone have any experiences either way or ideas? Please tell me there's a way to fix this.

Initially I imagine it not being integrated directly into PSE. In other words it wouldn't be a drop down in the share button toolbar. I've done a little bit of research and poked around in the data files and haven't found a way that I could integrate it just yet but I'm still looking. This would definitely be cool to do.
When you say, "ability to chose to send tags and captions with the pictures without having to write tags to the original file," I assume you mean not writing to the meta data of the image? Here's a quick step-by-step overview of how I imagine the app working that should hopefully clarify this point as well as make it more clear how I imagine the app running.
Let me preface the description by saying I would try and write the application in such a way where it could easily be expanded to support other photo sharing services and possibly other photo cataloging apps (though this is much less of a priority).
1.) Start PSESync (this was just an initial name idea. If anybody has any name suggestions I would love to hear them).
2.) Choose a catalog to work with (file dialog, drop-down, etc).
3.) Choose a service to sync your catalog with (this would initially only be Flickr but could be branched out to another service or even a simple XML output).
5.) Enter in needed parameters for the service (in the case of Flickr the username and password of the account your using)
    4.) Press the "Analyze" button.
5.) PSESync will first check to see if your catalog has ever been synced with the selected service before. If not it will create a new table in the catalog database to contain the sync information.
6.) PSESync will then sync your images (including captions and tag information) and collections with the service. No changes will be made to the images at sync time, only the data that PSE keeps (captions, tags, etc). I may include automatic resizing of images when a new image is uploaded but this would probably come after the initial release.
By syncing I mean any information that is newer in the catalog then they are in the service will overwrite data in the service and any information that is newer in the service will overwrite the data in the catalog. The details of how this process would work are still being worked out.
I'm hoping that in the next couple of days I can get the basics of PSESync scoped and also get create the project on Sourceforge (http://www.sourceforge.net) to track feature requests, bugs, etc. I'll post that information when it's available but for the time being if anybody has any suggestions I'm all ears.

  • Flickr uploading

I realize the integrated Flickr uploading in Aperture 3 is limited and I may simply need to move to a 3rd party ap. Still, I have a question.
I have Aperture 3 installed on my iMac and MBP. If I create a Flickr group to upload on the MBP it does not appear in the iMac. I understand that Aperture3 won't see sets created in Flickr unless they were created by Aperture, but is there a way that I can get a group to appear in both instances of Aperture 3 if the group was created by Aperture?

  • File upload failure

    Hi,
My system is unable to upload the file to SRS server stating the below error:-
SRS Proxy[19653]: [ID 728115 daemon.error] File upload failure: exceeded maximum retry count
Pls. give me the solution for this

I believe this is a cross post, please only post in one location. Do you
observe any errors to std.out or std.err vs. the log file? Sometimes when
there are memory errors there is no more resources to log messages and the
error (by the VM) will go to std out/err. Also you might turn on -verbosegc
to see what is going on with memory during the test. Are you trying to
bring the entire upload into memory prior to writing it to disk, or are you
              writing as you go?
              Cheers

  • Chromium crash on flickr uploader a other pages [SOLVED]

Since a couple of updates chromium crashes on a few pages. Flickr uploader and wordpress.com blogs are an example.
There is no aparent reason. The system is 64bits, Intel graphic card and it's updated. I cannot get some verbose output from chromium executed from shell, so I have no idea of what's happening. I've tried using incognito mode and change flash for pepper flash lib and the problem is still there.
Anything you need just ask me.
Sorry for my english. Thank you in advance.

If you run the system, create another user and try something with that user (which uses a clean chromium profile). If everything goes right, you just need to clean your user's profile (that means losing bookmarks, history, and saved passwords, so think about making a backup).
If the problem persists with the new user, well, no idea, but at least you'll keep your profile as it is right now

  • Flickr upload lacking?

Does anyone else think the Flickr upload is lacking?? You can't tell it where to add the photos, cant create new sets and can't tag photos. Everything I could do with my 3rd party addon in iPhoto 08.

Not quite true. You can tag photos in iPhoto, and they will sync with flickr. Make sure "Keywords" is ticked in the View menu, and you can add tags to your photos by clicking the line of text underneath them. These keywords will upload to flickr as tags.
In fact if you then add more tags in flickr, they'll sync back to iPhoto too.
You can't specify an existing set to put photos in. It will create a new set based on the date, but you can then rename this set (in either flickr or iPhoto) and it will do the right thing.
There are definitely shortfalls - you can't specify the privacy of photos beyond private/public (no friends and family options).
If you add more photos to that set in flickr, iPhoto actually downloads them and you can see them in iPhoto. But they're only "half" there. You can't see them in Photos or Events, but they'll appear in Slideshows.
And this isn't right either; if you drag a photos that's already in a sync'ed set to another sync'ed set (or downloaded as above), rather than just placing the already uploaded photo in both sets, you get another instance of the photo uploaded in your photostream (which will then have different comment streams etc)
And I haven't dared trying to use two different iPhoto installations to sync to the same flickr account yet.
What'd I'd love is to have iPhoto use the EXIF data on the photos in flickr and the ones in my library to sync up all the photos that I have already uploaded. If it could merge the tags, and take a description if one's set that'd be ideal. Titles would be more problematic because I've often changed them in one location or an other from the usual DCIM1234 style, but it could make an educated guess as to which one is right.
There's a way to go before it's ideal, but it's looking very promising.

  • Why is there a Flickr upload option in PSE8 Windows, and not Mac?

So I downloaded Photoshop Elements 8 for both PC and Mac to check them out.  I'm loving it on both platforms, but I seem to have run into a bit of a snag.  If you have a photo open, and you click the green share tab at the top right of the screen, you get 5 buttons with different ways of sharing your photo.  Under these buttons is a more options link, and if you click the link, you'll find an option to Share to Flickr.  The option is missing from the Mac version of PSE8 as well as the Tips and Tricks link you find at the bottom beneath the project bin.  Aren't these versions supposed to be identical besides the fact that the PC version has the organizer, and the Mac version uses Adobe Bridge?

The flickr button takes you to the organizer.  PSE 8/mac has no online components at all. In PSE 6 online components were offered via bridge, but not in PSE 8.

  • Why won't the Flickr uploader PSE 8 work right on Vista or Windows 7?

I used to upload photos using PSE 6 to Flickr on Windows XP machine all the time w/o problems. Recently after buying a new computer, PSE 8, and Vista 64 bit I get a message that says there is a problem. I more recently upgraded to Windows 7, 64 bit, same issue.
As far as I can tell there is no Firewall issue as everything else works fine and sometimes on picture will upload, but not more than one. Does anyone know of a setting I need to look at?
    Thanks
    Jim

    Hi,
Can you please try lowering the Security Settings in Internet Explorer? Go to Tools -> Internet Explorer -> Security Tab. Lower the settings and click Apply and then OK. Relaunch Organizer and try the workflow again.
Also, please recheck that the Windows Firewall is turned off.
    Thanks,
    Tarun
