  • Flickr upload from iPhoto acting weird since last update

    Hi
I am currently uploading photos to Flickr on a regular basis.
however since iPhoto's latest update (the one that changed the look of icons in the sidebar...) I am seeing constant problems with uploads. They usually get stuck very shortly after they started. As I am writing this, an upload is stuck at "time remaining: 2 minutes" and has been for over 10 minutes for an upload of just 20 small-sized pics. When the upload is smaller, it gets stuck at the "Pending" state forever (I've left iPhoto running in the background for several hours and it was still stuck at that level after 4 hours).
    anyone else experiencing this?
    any idea or help appreciated
Note: my iPhoto library is in my Dropbox and I am running iPhoto 9.1.5 on Snow Leopard 10.6.8

I'm having the same problem. Whenever I try to use iPhoto to upload photos to Flickr, it takes a loooooong time, gets hung up a lot, is forever "pending" and is just a huge waste of time! Really frustrating.
I'm running OSX, 10.6.8 and I'm using iPhoto '11 version 9.1.5. I'm uploading the photos at full resolution (3648x2746px), which obviously is going to take longer than uploading smaller versions, but it's not THAT big - shouldn't take all day. At first I thought this problem might be related to some kind of problems with internet connection, but I've tried in a lot of different places, including at home, where i have a great internet connection and normally no problems.
I've been struggling with this for a few months and it's totally driving me nuts - if I can't figure this out soon, I am going to quit using iPhoto entirely.
Does anybody use iPhoto with Flickr successfully?

  • Import from iphoto fails every time.

Import from iphoto fails every time.

It should not be a serious flaw, since this something that you only do ONCE. You don't want to use both organizer and iphoto. You'll have two sets of photos with no knowledge of each other. Import from iphoto is not meant to be a regular use item, only for the one time after you've decided organizer is what you prefer. It's fine to make a small test catalog while you decide whether iphoto or organizer suits you better, but to keep on using both is going to make you crazy in short order.

  • Uploading from iphoto shuts down my browsers

When I try to upload from iphoto (not with the iphoto facebook uploader but through the files to my blog for example) it shuts down my browser. I have tried this on several browsers - chrome, safari, firefox - they all crash.  WHY? And how do I fix this?  I am using iLife 9.  Please help.

    Thank you for your response.
I attempt to upload photos to either of my blogs (wordpress and blogger) by clicking to choose files from my computer -> under the "MEDIA" section on the left column I click photos -> I am given the options of iphoto or photobooth -> click iphoto -> at which point i have the option to pick events or photos or last import, etc.  When I click events the browser then freezes up and then shuts down all windows that are open.
Sometimes it allows me to take the photos from the "last import" section under iphoto.
I CAN upload photos directly from my desktop, but I don't want to drag or copy/paste everything to the desktop if I don't have to.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • How do I change the image title when it is uploaded from iphoto to iweb. At the moment the image title is /shapeimage_1.png and I would like to put in something more relevant than just shapeimage?

How do I change the image title when it is uploaded from iphoto to iweb. At the moment the image title is /shapeimage_2.png and I would like to put in something more relevant than just shapeimage_2?

When you drag images from iPhoto to iWeb, iWeb retains the original filename.
When you use a mask, iWeb creates a png file with the shapeimage name.
So do not use a mask and crop your images before dropping them on the iWeb canvas.
When you use an irregularly shaped mask, then png files are created. They have to be png because of the transparency of the shape.
You can use a 3rd party application to create the png images yourself, and give them a proper name.
Or use the published png files, rename them and drop them back onto the iWeb canvas, while first removing the previous images.

  • Facebook photos teeny-tiny when I upload from iPhoto

Whenever I upload pictures from my iPhoto to facebook they are really small. It doesn't matter what camera they come from...they are always tiny when I upload from iPhoto. If I upload directly from my phone they are a normal size.. Anyone know how to help??

exactly how are you uploading to facebook?
The best way is to select the photos and click on the facebook icon in the tool bar and use the iPhoto uploader

  • Photos uploaded from iPhoto '11 to facebook keep removing themselves at random.

    Hi Guys and Girls,
My Photos uploaded from iPhoto '11 to facebook keep removing themselves at random. Who else is having this annoying issue?
    Cheers,
    Keegan

Do not use the iPhoto - Facebook link - as advertised changes on either side are automatically synced to the other - that is the way it works
If you do not want the features that iPhoto offers then upload directly form a web browser or other method

  • How to upload from iphoto to icloud in title order using photo share (not photo stream)?

I can get the albums within iphoto (V9.6) into title order, however when they are uploaded to icloud (photo share, not photo stream) they lose that order. Can the photo shared images on the icloud web link be uploaded/or organised into the order that I have painstakingly created?

December 2014 Case Resolved by midnorthcoast
I found Old Toad's remedy presented by Tedious Tom here Keeping desired order of photos when sharing on iCloud
After labelling (titling) each of the 300 or so images carefully in numerical order I wanted to be sure that that's how they would be viewed once uploaded from iPhoto to Photo Share (not Photo Stream).  Note that I didn't want the ensuing iCloud weblink to be automatically emailed to others. I wanted to email the link personally. I find the automatic invitation's presentation confusing in regard to having to register to view the images or simply clicking the less obvious link. Plus I wanted the invitation to be more personal.
    Here's how I did it:
Transferred images from Finder to their own album within iPhoto
With the album open, made sure images were in title order,  View/Sort Photos/By Title
    Selected all images
Followed Old Toad's advice (except I changed from 1 minute to 1 second),  Photos/Batch Change/Set Date/Add 1 second between each photo
    Shared with iCloud,  Share/iCloud
Dialogue box comes up, Clicked on New photo stream
Another dialogue box,  filled in one of my email addresses (not my iCloud identity), unticked Subscribers Can Post, ticked Public Website, clicked Share
Opened iCloud within iPhoto and waited until finished uploading
Highlighted the album, clicked Info, copied the weblink shown under Public Website and pasted into personal email invitations

  • My book from iPhoto failed (error box) after 2h. 25m. download process

My book from iPhoto failed (error box) after 2h. 25m. download process.
I'm afraid to start the download process again without knowing why it had an error the first time.
    What should I do?

    Thank for the information…
Unfortunately, even if I delete iPhoto 1.1.1 from my hard rive I still receive the same error when I attempt to install 2.0, “You cannot continue. There is nothing to install”.
I did notice that the installation dialogue seems to be correct with the exception that I am not prompted to type in an administrative password (although I am currently logged in as an administrator).
Is there something I am missing?

  • Uploads from iphoto 11 to flickr

I'm having trouble keeping descriptive data on my photos when I upload them to Flickr. I'm using  iPhoto 11 on Lion. I have a large set of images that were digitized from old slides, so they were all given a creation date as if they were "shot" at that time (June, '11). Using iPhoto, I have manually changed the date on each image to indicate the  date it was  actually shot. I have also used iPhoto to add descriptions on many of the images. Now, when I use the automatic uploader connection between iPhoto and Flickr, the descriptions show up on Flickr just fine, but the dates all revert back to when the images were digitized. On the other hand, if I export the images from iPhoto to my Mac and upload them  from there using the Flickr interface, the new dates I assigned are retained correctly, but the descriptions are lost. Is there any way to get my photos into Flickr with both the new date and description data I entered in iPhoto? I asked the Flickr support people about this, and they said it was a third party issue (iPhoto's uploader, I assume).

If you do not have a backup of your iPhoto 6 library then you will have to start over - you can open the iPhoto '11 library (right click and show package contents) and duplicate the originals folder - move this duplicate (be extremely careful not to make any other changes) to the G4 and import the photos to your iphoto 6

  • Will my previously sync'd Flickr photos (from iPhoto) get removed from Flickr

    Hi,
I am very nervous of using the new Photos App and losing all my previously sync'd Flickr Photos that I configured from iPhoto - some of them have thousands of views / comments and fav's that I would hate to lose.
My photo library has been migrated to Photos App now, so I presume that as long as I don't fire up iPhoto again, I should be fine - as once the photos are sync'd to Flickr from iPhoto then as long as iPhoto doesn't try and remove them it should be fine and it can't do that if you don't start it up.
My concern is what happens when I try and share a photo to Flickr from the new Photos App - is this going to reset all my photos that have been previously shared to Flickr (and hence lose the previously uploaded ones from iPhoto) or will it just share additional photos as a new individual photos? It seems whereas iPhoto ran a complex Sync type relationship with Flickr, the Photos App Sharing to Flickr is much more basic.
Can anyone put my mind at rest because I would be mortified to end up losing my Flickr Photos?
    Rgds
    Gary

    It hasn't for me.

  • Facebook pictures uploaded from iPhoto get displayed in low resolution on mac browsers

... but is otherwise fine on PC version of the browsers.
When viewing facebook photos on Safari (or Chrome, or Firefox) on Mac, photos uploaded using iPhoto get displayed in low res. Manually uploaded (through facebook upload tool) photos are displayed ok.

    Hi Jon,
Thank so much for your reply. That portion I comfortable with, but was thinking I could take photos with my mobile phone and have them sync to a folder on my PC as my originals. I dont want to download photo's from my phone. It does work as desired exept the fact that the photos resolution is lower on the PC than the "originals" on the Revel website.
If I right click on the photo in PE and select "download original from revel" it works, but sort of defeats it purpose in my case.
It seems like Photoshop is not importing the pic at the original resolution. ie to me I would expect a "import original resolution" inside photoshop.
    I am using PE12.
I dont like to compare PE revel to apple iCloud, but this is how their software works. If I take a photo on my iPhone its on my mac in full res within minutes to do with as I please. This is what I was thinking Revel could do for me and more. Dropbox, Onedrive and Googledrive all support this, but then I have to import it into PE.
Once again. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated!!
    Kind Regards
    Jason

  • Uploading from iPhoto '08 using Ofoto Express

I have always used Ofoto Express (from Kodak Gallery) to upload my photos from iPhoto. Now that I have iPhoto'08 I can't do it. When I open up Ofoto it doesn't give me the choice to get my pictures from iPhoto. Does anyone have any ideas?
When I go to the iPhoto Library in the Picture folder it opens up the iPhoto application. Where are the actual files?
    Any help would be appreciated!

In Ofoto Express (v.101) click on the Pictures Button on the toolbar. A Standard OS X 'Open Dialogue descends just like in any application:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
Select the pic you want by clicking on the (-click to select more than one) then click open.

  • Having difficulty finding my photos to upload from iPhoto to blogger

Hello-  I recently got a Mac and I am having a hard time uploading photos from iphoto to blogger.  When I select "upload photos" on blogger then select iphoto library, there is no subfolder with all of my photos.  The only thing there is the iphoto icon.  I am not computer savvy at all so I am sure it is user error.  I would appreciate it if someone could take me through the steps to reach my pictures so I can select them to upload.
Thanks in advance for your help!

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
