Flickr upload with labeled iPhoto shots

Does anyone know how to upload labeled photos to Flickr from iPhoto 5? I've spent a lot of time labeling my library and I don 't want to do it all over again having just discovered Flickr. Any advice will be appreciated.

You could try using the free Flickr Upload action and building an automator workflow to do it.

Regarding iOS 7.0 you have totally lost the plot.

    Intuitive interface.

All that Steve Jobs consider sacrosanct.
Quality is about ongoing support longevity of product.
Its not about trying to sell to every person on the planet, others are way ahead of you.
So try respective the customers you have, it wont be long before theirs a better operating system and your lead in hardware is marginal.

My post on facebook this morning.
If you have an iPhone or iPad do not update to ISO 7 unless you want an operating system that looks like windows 8. The graphics looks like it was designed by a artistically challenged mongoose and the operating system is not intuitive something apple users expect. Overly complicated ugly and generally change for the sake of apples paranoia since the death of Steve Jobs.

  • Flickr upload failures in Mac PSE 9

Hi, I've not yet managed to get Flickr upload working in PSE 9 on MacOS 10.6.6.
The symptom is that the upload brings up a blank, white window which is rapidly replaced by a grey window with the error:
Sorry, an error occurred during the uploading process. Please try again later.
On the first attempt, I was invited to authorise Adobe PhotoServices to access my Flickr account and this appeared to go OK, but then the upload failed.  I've followed troubleshooting advie from Adobe on the web but to no avail.
I did manage to upload from a PC running PSE9 and the MAC upload worked once afterwards, but has failed ever since.
Has anyone go any suggestions please?

Thanks Barbara, I assumed it would be the same as Windows.

Perhaps try the Editor top menu:
    File > Process Multiple Files
Then choose an output folder on your hard drive or CD/DVD etc.
    Otherwise use iPhoto:
File -> Export, Kind: Original etc.

  • Uploading pictures from iPhoto

I'm trying to upload photos to Shutterfly and I can't seem to get it to work...can anyone tell me why? Is it because I have to order my prints through Apple?

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Flickr upload lacking?

Does anyone else think the Flickr upload is lacking?? You can't tell it where to add the photos, cant create new sets and can't tag photos. Everything I could do with my 3rd party addon in iPhoto 08.

Not quite true. You can tag photos in iPhoto, and they will sync with flickr. Make sure "Keywords" is ticked in the View menu, and you can add tags to your photos by clicking the line of text underneath them. These keywords will upload to flickr as tags.
In fact if you then add more tags in flickr, they'll sync back to iPhoto too.
You can't specify an existing set to put photos in. It will create a new set based on the date, but you can then rename this set (in either flickr or iPhoto) and it will do the right thing.
There are definitely shortfalls - you can't specify the privacy of photos beyond private/public (no friends and family options).
If you add more photos to that set in flickr, iPhoto actually downloads them and you can see them in iPhoto. But they're only "half" there. You can't see them in Photos or Events, but they'll appear in Slideshows.
And this isn't right either; if you drag a photos that's already in a sync'ed set to another sync'ed set (or downloaded as above), rather than just placing the already uploaded photo in both sets, you get another instance of the photo uploaded in your photostream (which will then have different comment streams etc)
And I haven't dared trying to use two different iPhoto installations to sync to the same flickr account yet.
What'd I'd love is to have iPhoto use the EXIF data on the photos in flickr and the ones in my library to sync up all the photos that I have already uploaded. If it could merge the tags, and take a description if one's set that'd be ideal. Titles would be more problematic because I've often changed them in one location or an other from the usual DCIM1234 style, but it could make an educated guess as to which one is right.
There's a way to go before it's ideal, but it's looking very promising.

  • I cannot upload photos from iPhoto 9 to Flikr. When I attempt to do so, I get the message "the login details or auth token passed were invalid." Please help.

I cannot upload photos from iPhoto 9 to Flikr. When I try, I get the message "the login details or auth token passed were invalid."  I am using iPhoto 9 version 8.1.2, and my OS is 10.9.5. My computer is a MacBook Pro. I do not have this trouble with my iMac.  This trouble started before I updated to OS10.9.5.  I do not have this problem when uploading to FaceBook or sending by e-mail.
This problem started when I tried to upload some photos after hitting the "use other account" tab. This took me to a Flikr site asking me for permission to make my iPhoto information available to others.  I clicked "yes," and then I changed my mind and clicked "no." I haven't been able to upload to Flikr since.
I searched Flikr and Yahoo for a solution, and Yahoo says the trouble is in iPhoto.  I checked my Flikr account, and iPhoto extensions are enabled.
I need to upload some school and alumni photos, so I sure could use some help. I am Not computer proficient.  Thank you.

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • How long should it take to upload pictures for iPhoto books

I have created a book for Christmas on iPhoto.  The book is 100 pages.  There are two steps to the process of sending in your order.
    1.  Assembly (which it assembled no problem, under 30 min)
    2.  Upload (it shows a bar and a blue line moves as it uploads)
I have been uploading for 2 days now and I am 1/4 of the way there.  Now while I am waiting for it to upload I cannot do anything with my iPhoto pictures.  Which is a problem since I take pictures for my school and I need to edit pictures by Tuesday.
It states under the "Uploading book to the store...."  Note: Any interruption of the upload process will cancel your order.
I have enough memory that this should not be the problem.  I have turned off every application, restarted my computer, checked for updates.  Nothing helps.  I have had to cancel this order 3 times now and restart the process as I needed to use iPhoto for school projects.
This should not take more than 2 days!  What is going on?  Any help would be wonderful.  Thank you

    OS X Yosemitie

Two days is way too long for the upload, unless you are having a very slow Wi-Fi.
There may be a something interfering with your connection to the Print Products Store (Anti virus software, firewalls), or you have included unprintable items.
Is the PDF preview of your book correct? Make a review and check it carefully for missing items, see this help page:
iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
If the preview is alright, try to upload your book again in Safe Mode. That will disable non standard extensions, and prevent them from interfering with your connection to the Print Products Store:

  • Uploaded pictures to iPhoto but computer froze and I did a force quit - now all pictures gone!  Help!!

I uploaded pictures to iPhoto library, I was attempting to share one picture (out of 350!) and computer froze for over 5 minutes.  I did a "force quit" and when I reopend iPhoto all pictures were gone.  The library shows the events I created but when I click on it, there are no pictures.  Please help!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • When I upload photos to iPhoto from my iPhone and then press delete from iPhone it does not delete them, how do I fix this?

When I upload photos to iPhoto from my iPhone and then press delete from iPhone it does not delete them, how do I fix this?

I am having the same problems as this person. I see that someone said there is no way to retrieve the pictures once it gets stuck in recovery mode.
Then further along someone said that there are data retrieval methods except they have something to do with jail breaking a phone.
My phone is already jail broken. It was kind of a gift from the company I work for- it was a fellow employees before. He jail broke it and then it was given to me. After I got it I activated the 4 and tried to back up everything. It didn't work and "Springboard" forced the phone into safety mode. So I could use it with the old dude's apps and my contacts. I made the mistake of using the phone for wedding dress shopping with a friend. I took tons of pictures.
After this I found out the messages I was seeing meant it was jail broken. At&t said to force restore the phone - iTunes wouldn't recognize it in safety mode. I'm an idiot and didn't realize what this meant for my pictures. It didn't work (error 1611) - thankfully. Now it is stuck in recovery mode (iTunes icon and USB cable picture).
Can I access that media in any way? It never suceeded restoring itself so is it still there? The phone is jail broken already so is there a method I can use?

  • Flickr upload syncing

Using the Flickr uploader changes information in photos. Why is the following happening? Any way to change it.
    1. It causes them to take on the date of the upload to Flickr rather than their actual EXIF date. This is annoying me to death since I like to have my photos organized by date correctly.
    2. The original file takes on the name of Flickr's custom name for the image. This means that when I import folders, the original file thinks it hasn't been imported yet and tries to again.

I am also of the view that the Flickr publishing in LR (inc 3.4RC) is seriously broken in several respects including a failure to be able to republish a set of photos which are private and not publically searchable – an API error occurs on republishing.  Also for your publically published photos if you ever re-publish, they become marked as not-publically searchable when they get to Flickr.     This may be relevant if you expect your photos to be publically found based on your tagging or titles showing up in searches.
I too recommend Jeffrey Friedl’s plugin until such as time as Adobe chose to fix this or strike up a commercial relationship with Jeffrey to ship his.

  • Is it possible to upload photos from iPhoto '11 to multiple face book accounts?

I am a novice to the whole Mac experience and iPhoto so please bear with me.  Hopefully I can ask my question so that it makes sense.
I can automatically upload pictures from iPhoto to my face book account, but can not set it up so that other family members can add photos to their face book accounts.  I read the "help" section about this topic, but I am missing something... I can go to Share and select the face book option, but the "set up" option isn't available.
I appreciate any advice that you may have.

    Greetings Melissa,
I only have 1 Facebook account so I can't test this but I have a suggestion:
Try adding more than one account by going to iPhoto > Preferernces > Accounts and using the plus sign to add 1 account and then another.
If you can add multiple accounts here you may then be able to drag the images you want from your library to the various Facebook accounts on the left hand side of iPhoto even if the Share button only understands 1 account.
Let us know if iPhoto will allow you to add more than one in this manner.
    Cheers.

When I upload my pictures from my digital camera to Iphoto, the picture quality is great. But, when I upload pics from Iphoto to any online website such as facebook, or email, etc, the picture quality degrades and looks very grainy. I tried using a compressor program to change the size of the picture but that doesn't seem to help. I'm using iphoto 08. Any suggestions??

Yes, the quality is very bad because you're uploading tiny thumbnail files. What would you expect?
