Flimmern 2. Monitor Matrox RT X2

Beim Einsatz des 2. Monitor über den DVI Ausgang der Matrox RT X2 Karte,
flimmert der Monitor im Stand.

If I ditch my current RT X2, will I be able to use three monitors which I had gotten used to? Is Matrox not going to provide the CS5 drivers for their product which I still see being sold on the internet for nothing less than the original price?
In addition to that my HP XW6600 has only room for another xeon quad core to give me a maximum of 8 cores as compared to the 16 cores I saw in the demonstration. RAM is 22gb. So with this current setup will I be able to get the perfomance of the mercury playback engine or I will have to ditch my GPU FX4600 for the FX4800?
Please help with the pros and cons for this rather than just advising me to simply sell it.

  • [SOLVED - sort of] display resolution woes after pacman update

When doing a recent pacman -Syu, I was asked if I wanted to change from mga-dri to libgl video. I (foolishly) chose the default (Y) and was informed mga-dri had been removed. After the rest of the update, I was unable to start X. Did some reading, configuring, and cussing - all to no avail.
Well, actually the cussing felt good, but the neighbors were less than pleased...
"heftig" and "falconindy" in #archlinux were kind enough to enlighten me that support for mga-dri had been dropped, and that I was probably stuck with vesa for my older video card and monitor: Matrox G400/500 and Dell M781p, respectively.
After a fashion, I was able to configure up an xorg.conf to restore X, however all I seem to be able to muster up is 800x600 resolution, which sucks, as both the card and monitor support 1024x768 and ran that with the old mga-dri.
Is it possible to return to the old mga-dri set up? If so, how?
If not, is it possible to get 1024x768 video with the present vesa driver?
FYI, I do no gaming or fancy-schmancy video stuff, though would like to be able to watch videos with either mplayer or smplayer.

I found the previous version of xf86-video-mga on http://schlunix.org/archlinux/, though I'm more than a bit apprehensive to just blindly retrograde to the previous version. Reason being, a number of X related items were updated, too, with the March 13th debacle. To wit:

  • Encore-Premiere dynamic link not working

Hi. I've watched tutorials and think I understand this pretty well but it's simply not working. I import a Premiere sequence into an encore project and place it on a timeline. I then add some chapters (or make other changes) to the Premiere sequence and the encore timeline does not update. When I right click on the timeline video the option to "Update markers from source" is grayed out. Saving in Premiere doesn't help.
Thanks for any help offered. Sorry if I'm missing something obvious, but it's really a damper to productivity.

    >anyone know if that's coming back?
I seriously doubt it. Adobe bundles Encore with PPro to take care of DVD authoring. It might have been convenient, but I don't think there's sufficient demand for Adobe to consider re-implimenting it.
    Try filing feature requests.

  • Color profile won't stick.

Since I installed a Matrox M9125 graphics card, colour profiles set in "Color Management" won't stick. The default "Device" for "Common Management" is "Display: Generic Non--PnP Monitor - Matrox M9125PCIe x16". When I select my actual monitor (NEC 2690) from the Device drop down list profiles appear - including one I have made using an Eye-One Display 2 - and I can set it as the default one. However, when I re-open "Color Management" the profile I just set is gone, the profile list is empty and the Device is back to the Generic PnP ...display etc.
The profiles worked fine in my previous vga card (Nvidia) and stayed selected.
    I have Vista Ultimate 32Bit and CS3.
Grateful for any help on this.

    Hi,
I just want to sympathise with the China/Printer issue.
Most of my artwork goes over there and I want to rip my hair out with every new job. Steve is right that we as artists really should go by the printer's specs, but when dealing with a language barrier, not to mention a 12 hour time difference it's so far been imposssible for me to do. I keep a Pantone color picker at my desk and manually enter in the CMYK values. It doesn't always work though.
About your problem, the only thing I can think of is that you have images in your file that were RBG when placed in your file. It might not be what's going on, but something to check anyway.
    Good luck,
    Cherie

  • Playback loops to beginning: How to stop?

I'm working away in PP CS6 and one little thing has slowly turned into a major annoyance today:
I'm building my sequence a shot at a time, and when I play back the last cut to check it, the playback of the timeline it will sometimes loop back to the first shot of the show, so I have to stop playback and hit "end" to get my current position indicator back to the end of the timeline where it should be. It doesn't do it all the time, just sometimes, and it's driving me batsh*t crazy.
Has anybody else seen this and if so, please, for the love of all that's holy, tell me how to stop this behavior.

    Chris,
It sounds that this Preference setting needs to be disabled: "Playback work area after rendering previews".
    1. Premiere Pro > Preferences > General
    2. Uncheck "Playback work area after rendering previews"
    3. Click on OK
This is the first Preference i change beacuase of this "sometimes-jump-back-to-start-behaviour". Maybe that's the solution for you, maybe not. Try it and see if it helps.

  • Matchframe doesn't work

Man oh man, I'm just finding tons of things that aren't working the way they're supposed to, or else I'm just not understanding the instructions...
I put my playhead over an armed track and hit either the keyboard shortcut or the menu item for matchframe and NOTHING happens. What am I doing wrong?
BTW, is there a way to match back from a clip in the source window to the master clip in the bin?

Much appreciated, Kevin. This is killing me. I've got piano playing going on under conversation, with my leads occassionally glancing at the player. So I'm pulling his merged audio under my scene and cutting my two actors' dialog on top of it. But when I want to pop back to the player, I need to be able to match back to his merged clip from the audio only, and it definitely DOES NOT WORK. Right now I'm having to match cut by ear, which sucks but is doable while I'm alone. But when the director shows up in a couple weeks, if he wants to make substantial changes to this scene, he's gonna be less than impressed with me and Premiere if I have to keep fighting this...
In the attached graphic, my piano player's merged audio is on audio track 2 for visual reference.
Add to the matchback problem the fact that I can't adjust volumes of these merged clips on the timeline, and it's proving quite challenging.
Is there at least a way I can view the source timecode for my audio on track 2 and in the source monitor so I can find my frames by eye? That would be a start.

  • MSI G4Ti4200-VTD8X (MS-8894) & SOYO SY-6BB m/b

    Hi,
    I have a PC with:
SOYO SY-6BB motherboard (Baby AT, i440BX chipset)
    AGP slot V1.0 (1x,2x)
    PIII 550 Mhz CPU
    512mb RAM
    SONY SDM-X202 LCD Monitor
Matrox G450 Dual Head video card (32mb)
PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 600 power supply
    OS: Windows XP Pro SP1
    Problem:
Purchased an MSI G4Ti4200-VTD8X (MS-8894) video card.
After installing it, the system does not recognize it ("no signal" message appears on monitor and monitor goes into sleep mode).  In addition, a burning smell is emitted from the power supply (??). This happened with the old 250W supply and also with the new Turbo-Cool that replaced it. Both PSUs still work.
The vendor's customer service says the card is a 2x/4x card and is not compatible with my 1x/2x AGP slot.
    Questions:
    Any thoughts on this?
Is customer service correct on this?
Can anyone recommend a digital video card that will work with my SOYO SY-6BB motherboard  (the stronger the card the better) ??
    Thanks in advance !!
    Happy Holidays !!!

    GREAT !!
I also tried an ATI RADEON 8500 128MB, but it wouldn't work either.  It did work on an H/P system I had access to.
This is freaking me out.  I want to keep my present system because I like the full tower style, and it has served me well.....   Tomorrow...
    Thanks, Richard.

  • General question: what kind of error is this

This has happened to me a couple times now. I'm in Apple Motion, working on projects that aren't too intensive, when everything but the mouse freezes. I can still move it around but I can't click on anything or change applications (not even with the keyboard). I hesitate to call this a "crash" since the app doesn't quit and the computer doesn't completely lock up. Would you call this a freeze, kernel panic, what?
This may be related to using a Matrox MXO device with my video card, as it was turned on in both cases. Trying to work with their tech support to figure out if this is the culprit...

Oh yes, the Console log. I know it well.
Here's what I found in system.log at the time of the freeze:
ATIRadeon::waitfor_rbspace: Overflowed block waiting for FIFO space. Have 2, need 5. RBBM_STATUS 0xb803c100
** ASIC Hang Log Start **
(followed by lots of kernel messages)
So yeah, definitely a graphics card issue, although maybe not the Matrox? Hard to say.
I've had this setup (ATI Radeon x1900, Dual Apple 23" monitors, Matrox MXO) for a couple months now and it was running great under Tiger 10.4.11. It wasn't until I installed Leopard that this started happening. FWIW, I didn't upgrade, I installed it on a brand new drive that's in drive slot #4, ran all the system and Quicktime updates afterwards. Everything seems to run OK except for this occasional glitch. I ran First Aid and Repaired permission afterwards but I do regular maintenance anyway so I don't think that's going to fix anything.

  • MATROX MX02 mini on NTSC monitor

hi, i just bought this product and it is a bear to set up. tech support closed. i am hoping someone out there with this unit might be able to help.
i am trying to connect it to my Sony PVM broadcast monitor, which is SD. i am going RGB out on mini via monster cables to RGB component in on the NTSC monitor (which has BNC connectors, but i have RCA adapters. I am using the NTSC setup in Final Cut. Nothing on screen. Can anyone help me?

There is a large list of flavors to play out when you chose Matrox in FCP in the playback tab - in that giant list, you have to match whatever your playing to.  So, in your case, set it to NTSC.  It doesn't actually say "down convert".

  • Can an LCD TV work as a Broadcast Monitor thru Matrox Mini for Color?

    Hey guys,
since the actual Broadcast monitors are so expensive,
will an LCD tv work as a broadcast monitor thru Matrox Mini for Apple Color?
    Thanks,
    CJ

It's probably better than nothing. Unless it isn't. Depends on the TV. I always think it's good to view your efforts on a regular television, but because they do their own processing in an attempt to "improve" the image, it's best to take the results with a grain of salt...

  • TV vs. Computer Monitor for Matrox

I'm exploring getting a Matrox Mini and am looking for a monitor to get for it. It seems that getting a 24" 1920 x 1080 computer monitor (like a Dell SP2309W, HDMI and currently $250) is much cheaper than getting a 1920 x 1080 flat panel TV.
In the Matrox forums, I see that the staff themselves use Dells in-house.
Are there any other pros and cons that one needs to be aware of.
    Thanks for your help.

BROADCAST work? Get a proper Broadcast monitor. Why is it that people dump all the money into production, and think post only needs a computer, hard drive and software...and a pilot to fly the computer? Broadcast? Well, given the two choices the TV would be the best bet, but far from ideal. Even with the calibration via HDMI, you might still be off by a bit.
Projected...web...you are fine with a TV. But Broadcast? Now you are on thinner ice. Make it a GOOD TV, like a Panasonic Pro Plasma if you insist on this.

  • CS 6 & Matrox MXO2 Monitoring?

    Where is it?
I can monitor out of CS 5.5 and understand that we no longer have to choose sequence presets...I had a BETA driver and see the Matrox player there, but get no output. Is there something new now? I get NOTHING--nada. No output at all.
I'll check with Matrox again next week, but hoping someone may have a clue?

@ johnnyfriday – Alan is correct. Matrox drivers have not been released yet for CS6. CS5.5 drivers are not compatible with CS6.
@ RBemendo – Matrox hardware is being tested by Adobe and Matrox beta testers. I’ve you’re interested in being a beta tester for Matrox I suggest contacting them directly. I’m not sure how that process works but it is a separate beta program than Adobes.
As Alan mentioned Matrox said they will release their drivers by the end of the month. It’s nearly the end of the month so I expect to see drivers from Matrox very soon.

  • Card VGA Matrox G200 detected but monitor HP D2826 won't work

I have an HP Vectra, during installation of solaris 8,he detected my VGA card Matrox G200, but my monitor HP D2826 won't work???? Actually, i work with standart VGA 256 colors. Can anyone help me please?

The card I linked indicates it needs 450 watts.  This is more of a rough estimate and I'm not certain that a leeway of 50W is enough for the system.  Again, 450W is a rough estimate.  It may just need a little larger power supply, I find that unlikely since the DVI port works without issue.
I was inquiring about the motherboard to check if this particular motherboard needed to have the onboard graphics disabled for the discrete graphics card to work, but this can be safely ruled out since the DVI port worked.
Here is what can be ruled out thus far.
    1.  BIOS settings in the motherboard.  If it was a BIOS setting issue preventing the card from displaying an image, then the DVI port would have not worked.
    2.  The display port on the monitor.  If it was the monitor's display port was at fault, then it wouldn't have worked with the motherboard's display port.
    3.  For the most part, I think it is safe to rule out a weak power supply.  Generally speaking, a video card either works 100% or 0% based on whether or not it has enough power or not enough power.  Not enough power doesn't typically cause certain video ports to work and others not to work.
The one item that cannot be ruled out at this point is the display port of the video card itself.  By chance, do you have another card to test in this system or another system to test the card in that meets the requirements?  It may be worth contacting XFX as it appears that this may be an issue with the display port of the card.
Here is their link should you need it.

    From Matrox' support mail:
The TH2G Digital Edition is not compatible with the MacBook Pro early 2011.
If you check our compatibility wizard for Mac on our website (http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/mac/choice/) you can verify that the supported models are the TH2G Digital SE and the DP Edition.
I needed the DisplayPort edition. Didn't get it yet, though.
