Flip 4 Mac error

When I try to enter my name and serial number in Sustem Prefs I get an error:
There has been an Internal Error
Engine not installed.
I have re-installed etc - any ideas?

Yes, I downloaded it from their website today.
It seems to work but I just can't register it which means I can't convert WMA files in iMovie and so on which could make life a bit awkward.

FLIP 4 MAC and QUICKTIME problem

I have flip 4 mac and when I am trying to access a website that uses flip 4 mac (windows) I get a message saying "ALERT, the URL is not valid"

Updated Quicktime, now Flip 4 Mac has Export Problems

Recently did the QT update to 7.2.0 and now when I try and export an FCP (Studio 2 v6.0.1) Sequence with 48kHz Audio using Flip 4 Mac (Studio Pro HD v2.1.2.72), it gives me an error message:
"Inconsistent Audio Sample Rate - The media you are exporting contains audio with multiple sample rates."
Even if I just try to Export one clip from the Viewer Window, it gives me this error message. I've found if I change the sequence to 44.1kHz, then try to Export, I have no issues. This did not happen before...any ideas??

This is a known bug by Telestream the makers of Flip4Mac in Quicktime 7.2 and they are currently working on a fix for it. However, you have already stumbled on their workaround: change the audio to 44.1 then export. The only other thing you can do is revert to a lower version of Quicktime.

Did you restart your Mac and try again? Sounds simple, but it's a good first step when troubleshooting.
If the issue persists you may need to delete iTunes from the Applications folder and download a fresh copy. This does not affect your iTunes library, which is in a different location.

I got the Mac error code -36 while trying to move a backup file

I got the Mac error code -36 while trying to move a backup file (made by Time Machine) to another drive. The full text of the error message is:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “boot.efi” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36)

It's a disk error. Although Apple documentation says you should be able to copy Time Machine backups in the FInder, that doesn't necessarily mean it will work. I suggest that, instead of copying the existing backup, you start a new one on the other drive, and keep the old one. You need more than one backup anyway.

Flip 4 Mac no video

I have installed, including upgrades, appropriate for OSX 10.9.1 - I get audio and a black screen - no video - also the every five-second message "this is a demonstration of Flip 4 Mac."

Update to 10.5.6. Install the combo update instead of using Software Update.
Repair permissions prior to installing the os. Repair permissions and restart your computer after the os installation.
It is better to stick with one posting on the same problem. This will cut down on the confusion for the people trying to help you in figuring out what you have already tried and previously posted.

Quicktime pro and flip 4 mac

Every time I try to export a movie in QuickTime (Pro), in various formants, Flip 4 Mac comes up and says it will put a watermark on the movie unless I buy the Flip4Mac pro.

If your source file is in WMP format or your export option is to WMP formats then you are working using the "trial mode" of the Flip4Mac software.
You must purchase one of the upgrades to that third party software to complete your task.

Connect to .mac error

Hi All.
New user here.
I am getting a can't connect to .mac error from Aperture after just now importing my photos to try and get working with it.
I have checked the Preferences section and it appears that it is using my new mobileme account (I had an old one that i let go a month or so ago) but since this says .mac and since it seems correct in Preferences I am a little confused.
Can anyone help?

Ouicktime 7.5 not working with Flip 4 Mac.

I upgraded QT to 7.5 and now my QT plays the audio but no picture when running streaming WMV files. I checked with Flip 4 Mac but they said its a Quicktime issue.I'm running the latest version of flip 4 mac (2.2.0.49R). Anyone have the fix to this problem?

Welcome to the forums Bigbadcudah.
This won't help you, but just for the record, I have not noticed any problems at all with QT 7.5 or for that matter Flip4Mac and playing WMV files, and we are using the same OS.
It might be worth your while checking the following for updated components:
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, 3.1, 3.1.1, QT 7.3, 7.4 and 7.4.5 and OS 10.4.11.
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.11 and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
RealPlayer 11 (which is no longer in beta) for Mac from (you may need a different site for the US):

Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)

You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS, but please see my footnote if you are running Leopard.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11, that you have downloaded and installed all the correct version for your Mac of Security Updates up to and including 2008-003. (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning.
And now there is an additional kid on the block: SilverLight. Microsoft has created their own version of what a replacement for Flash should be. You can read more about it here:

I protocol handler can be specifid at server jvm paramters at config tool.
The parameter is java.protocol.handler.pkgs
I specified my protocol handler to avoid using iaik's protocl handler and it worked. We are sending this to SAP to see what is the problem with iaik's protocol handler.

Do you have Adobe Reader installed, by any chance? If so, are you aware if it was the PPC or Intel version which you installed? In any case, for the time being, have a quick look in 'HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/' using Finder and see if there's an Adobe plugin lying around. If there is, try moving it out of the folder and restarting Safari.

Quicktime X doesnt work after i downloaded flip 4 mac program
the quicktime logo shows up in the dock but doesnt show up in window
and i cant play WMV format video even tough i downloaded flip 4 mac
i really need to fix this program as soon as possible

I'm having the same problem, it has audio but no image, it's all black since I installed Lion.
I just downloaded the last version of Flip4Mac and even then I only get the black window but with sound.
The same file plays OK using VLC.
Any help is welcome.

Hi, I have the latest QT and VLC, I got VLC to view .wmv files, but it turns out it wont play them as they are .wmv3 file, i'm now looking at downloading flip 4 mac (new intel vertion) or windows meda player, but the thing is, where will it end? is there a do all application that can play nearly every thing or do i have to have 3 different ones, just incase????? any help would be awesome, cheers.

You probably want Flip 4 Mac as Windows Media Player is not an application built to utilize the Intel chip (or universal as they say).
Sorry, I don't know of a play all formats Media Player.
