Flip Clock Counter Effect?

I have seen Apple use an effect in their keynote presentations where they have a retro looking flip clock counting up whatever stats they happen to be talking about at the time. For example, they use an animated counter that looks like one of these clocks:

Has anyone seen this effect and do you know how to reproduce it?

It's not a Keynote effect, and I'm not sure what app they used to do this. I was thinking maybe it was built into some other software and created as a QuickTime movie, but I can't find the other app that would have created it.

Flip clock effect in InDesign?

Hi all,
I'm trying to achieve a flip clock effect in InDesign and export it as a SWF file. I've looked through all the options in the Animation palette and there isn't one that come close. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your reply. I should have been clearer about what the flip clock effect was! It's exactly what Silkrooster has described. I believe it's also been used at airports for the flight timetables, before LEDs were used. According to Wikipedia, it's called a split-flap display (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split-flap_display)
Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of Flash Professional 5 at work. I'll ask around and see if anyone's got a copy of it.
What I was hoping to do was to integrate it into the existing artwork and exporting it all straight from InDesign. Any suggestions/advice/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all,
I am looking to develop a flip clock timer to place on a
company website to show when some software will be made available
(basically a release count down timer). I have seen a similar style
of what I am looking to do

Although the one I want to create should count down not display the

that's going to require some advanced scripting and i don't
know of any tutorials. i made something similar with numbers
flipping like an old-time scoreboard.
you'll need to tween the _yscale and _y property of the
number lower halves to give the appearance of flipping
numbers.

Reset clock count/encoder counts

Is there a way to programatically reset the clock count using labview? I am using an encoder and an e series DAQ board. When I am counting with the encoder, I come to a point where I would like to reset it to zero. I see that the examples all show that the count is reset after the loop is complete, but I would like to reset it during the loop to use it as a positioning tool. Reset to zero then start counting again from that point. Is this possible? Thanks.
Using Labview 6.1 and MIO16E DAQ Board.

Use the "Counter Control.vi" (Data Acquesition-> Counter->Advanced Counter). With the control code 1 you can resets the counter. Alternatively you may use the VI with control codes 4 and 2 which disarms and arms the counter again ("If you follow a disarm with another arm, then the acquisition restarts from the beginning"). That should do.

Flip Flop Counter 7-segment 4511 convergence issue

I've build a counter using D Flip Flops and am trying to display it on a 7-segment display using a 4511 BCD decoder. I get a convergence error when I have the C output connected (on the second page) to the DC input of the 4511. If I disconnect the DC input the counter works fine and the binary count can be seen on the indicators on the first page.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

take a look at this document here and try some of the steps towards the bottom.
I found changing the RELTOL tolerance to 0.01 allowed your simulation to run okay.

Setting BB Pearl Flip clock to network? Desktop Manager asks for an update to languages.

The Flip looks appears to require manual time adjustment rather than pulling the date and time information from the local network, either by setting it through options on the clock function, or through the Options - Date & Time menu.
My Desktop Manager keeps asking, when launched, an update to the same Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish languages. How do I turn it off?

Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.4.xxx".

Flip book animation effect

Hey all,
I'm working on a project where we want to incorporate animated "doodles" on top of live action video footage. By doodles I mean very simple line drawings similar to this (especially the drawings over the man in jeans:
I want the viewer to see these being drawn onto the screen and I want them to continue to "wiggle, stutter, wobble, jitter, etc" as though they are hand drawn animations or an effect you would get from a flip book. In other words there is no animation happening but the lines are always moving. Think of an animated drawing instead of a static one. I hope I've accurately described what I am looking for.
My first question is: is it even possible to get this type of effect without physically drawing these things frame by frame by frame. It would be perfect if we could get an artist to draw the pictures and then use a program like after effects to give them the "jiggly" feel and use some sort of matte or write on effect to make it seem like they were being drawn into existence.

Flipping a video effect to the other side

I have some effects that I am using to make my footage look old. Its a film looking strip, but it faces to the left, and I need them on both sides. Is there anyway to flip this to make it face the other way?

Video Filters > Perspective > Flop or if you want both sides then Video Filters > Perspective > Mirror

Does your remote computer have MAX installed? This is the easiest way to see what the device alias is.
You can always just try Dev1 and see if it works. This is the default when the very first device is added to a system.
If you can deploy code to the remote system, you can also use the DevNames property of the System Node from the DAQmx System Setup palette. This will show you all of the names of the devices in the system and you should see your device there.

Max frequency of externally-clocked counter?

Hello, I am wondering if I could operate a counter on a Virtex-5 (XC5VLX50T, speed grade -1? [there is a "1C" on the chip]) using an external LVDS clock running at 2 GHz. I have done some searching, and I haven't been able to find if a counter could count fast enough to keep up with a 2 GHz clock. Thank you!

Your trying to make code on the Virtex 5 -1 that counts at 2 GHz,
I don't think your onto much of a hope, 800 MHz was about the MAX numbers I remember and that was on a -2.

Actually, I have no transitions grayed out, although for the build effects on Charts, 'Flame' is indicated as unable to be used on this computer.... so you're right, it doesn't look good. Strange that I can use a build effect like Sparkle or Shimmer which are anti-aliased but for 3D grow, some growing blocks of a chart can't be anti-aliased
I guess it's back to the store to try and exchange this mac mini for an Imac.

How do I use "Flip" Effect only on one JPG not on Background and JPG?

Hi I'm a pro editor (but still reletively new) and trying Pro10 I'm using a green screen. Have my guy in front of a background and want to use the "Flip" movement transition. It seems to literally "grab" the background and flip it too. How do you have "Flip Transition" only effect the clip I attached it to and not mhy background which I want to be stationary? I tried "disable" on the background and that was not it... the manual doesn't explain much. Thanks so much!

y-e-a-h... that background isn't from anything in FCPX -- it's part of the effect (created in Motion 5).
I put in a checkbox to turn it off for you.

You can increase the font size and automatically page view changes. Go to menubar; Reading -> PDF View or Epub Text Size (depending upon the ebook) and increase the size.
