Flip Mino-Garage Band-iMovie Syncing Issues

I'm recording video on a flip video while simultaneously recording audio with a lapel mic through garage band. I am then uploading the video to iMovie and attempting to match up the audio from garageband to the video. Somewhere along the way they are getting way out of sync. How do I fix this?

While it seems to download the videos and create the project, the videos are not viewable in iMovie?
There should be no doubt as to whether they were imported to the named_Event folder. Simply open it and see if the file(s) is/are there. If there and they don't show up in the iMovie '08 Event window, this I would suspect that either the thumbnail or cache data is bad. Since the normal work flow appears to be import, thumbnail, build cache movie, I would jump to the cache movie, open it and check to see if the "missing" content is included here. If not, I would likely close the application, trash both the thumbnail and cache folders, and then reopen the application to see if re-thumbnailing and re-caching the source files remedies. If it does well and good. It doesn't then I would likely do a test conversion if the file or files the "don't take" properly and see if this changes the results. As I do not own such a device, these are only logical "gueses" as to things I minght try in an effort to isolate the base problem area.

Can the new pre installed apps in iPad 2. Like garage band, iMovie be sync back to i tune, and then sync these new apps from ipad2 to the old iPad 1?

    GB and iMovie pre installed?
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/built-in-apps/
Click: Browser All Built In Apps
iMovie and GB must be purchased.
If you have installed GB and iMovie on the iPad 1 and synced using iTunes, just sync the those apps to the newer iPad with iTunes. No re purchase necessary with the same iTunes account.

  • Getting error code 2 and also "selected driver not found (-10202)" when trying to change output/input in garage band. Driver issue?

Garage band newbie here...Been trying to record using PreSonus as my interface..having nothing but problems when I try to bring up
garageband. Multible restarts did help at first but now I can get no sound and cant seem to load the drivers at all in output/input...any help with this problem?

    YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!
    I got it!!! Yes!!!
Guys, I've solved my problem about that error -10202 (Selected driver not found).
I have installed in my Mac Pro (OS X 10.5.8) a document with an extension ".rsrc" to correct the position of the accents in my keyboard, like acute accent, tilde and circumflex.
That file is called "U.S. - International.rsrc" and it's stored in the following path:
    "Macintosh HD/Library/Keyboard Layouts"
So, when it's properly installed, I can choose 2 country flags on the right side of the menu bar (U.S. - International and Brazilian).
    That's the clue!
When I pick up "U.S. - International", my keyboard works fine with the accents, >>>BUT<<< Logic Pro 9 doesn't recognize my audio driver; and when I pick up "Brazilian", my keyboard doesn't work with the accents exactly as it shows me on each key, BUT Logic Pro 9 DOES recognize my audio driver.
So, when I want to write anything out, I will pick up the "US - International" and when I want to work on the Logic Pro 9, I will pick up "Brazilian".
I hope I can help all of you.

  • MP4 Video from Flip Ultra having Audio Sync Issues

All of sudden I've started having audio sync issues with the mp4 footage exported from the The Flip Ultra camera. Ive tryed the mp4 footage in both windows 7 and Mac OS X and i'm having the same audio issue but when I watch in the flip software or in iMovie no issues. Any know why this has just started happening?

  • Tried to delete Garage Band

I deleted Garage Band, iMovie and iDVD. I lack a DVD burner, do not edit videos (my Camcorder is VHS-C and I lakck A capture card) so I think its pointless to have these apps. I deleted Garage Band and all the Garage Band folders on my HD. I figure if I ever need this in the future I can restore from my OSX Tiger DVD. However I noticed one Garage Band folder in some Apple tune folder or whatever and it was taking up 1.09 GB or whatever. I did not delete it. Should I? I figure if I did the re-install all the Garage Band folders would be restored.
I just do not want to make a mistake that will not allow me to record audio with SoundMaker, my iMic or whatever. I have never used Garage Band and do not ever plan too. But I do sometimes dub audio tapes to my computer (since my tape recorder is a Microcassette branded) and no digital camera in my price range (about $40) works with a Mac. And besides I've been using tapes since 1994.
    Thanks,

Sorry these days its hard to find time to do this. As
founder and Director of Church Education Resource
Ministries (www.cerm.info) and also working in the
Printing Industry, I'm afraid that most of time is
devoted to biblical and theological research. I also
do a bit of debating with atheists, agnostics, false
christians, and real christians on various websites.
    www.iidb.org is one of them.
The HUGE HUGE problem with Apple in OSX is that they
changed their entire OS, and expect everyone to
    relearn.
That was five years ago. They would have even HUGER problems (if Apple would still be in business) if the had stuck with the old operating system. I (and many others) only bought Apple computers because of OSX.
Apple has a history of making these drastic changes
(remember the Apple II) and perhaps this may be one
    reason why PC's sell better.
    Remember CPM?
    PC's have remained the
same for a long time, and using Windows XP is not
    much different than 98.
That is the source of its problems.
    Troubleshooting is also very similiar.
    So are the troubles.
However troubleshooting OSX IS MUCH DIFFERENT THAN
    OS 9!
    Yes!!!
In OS9 you had extension conflicts, pref errors,
desktop database issues, issues with PRAM,etc.. I
did a bit of troubleshooting for this OS in the 12
years of owning a Mac running a Classic OS.
And you want to keep on doing this???
People want something familiar, and PC's have
remained familiar for a long time.
    Familiarity breeds contempt?
I am not trying to bash Apple, but honestly at this
time its hard finding time to learn more than the
    basics of OSX.
For a most people the basics is enough. (However we atheists might appreciate you having less time to go after us.)
Yes if I had a job troubleshooting it I would need to
learn more (depends on who I work for). But at this
time working in the Printing Industry seems to
require little if any technical knowledge. My
supervisor does not even know what USB is, and she's
    a master DTP person.

  • Garage Band Gone

I recently erased my hard drive and reinstalled with original disk to fix some issues. Everything is back in working order, except I don't have any of the iLife features that I've always had. This is probably the third time I've reinstalled from the disk, but have never had this issue before. I've read about retrieving them from the original install disk, but I don't know where to find the features I'm looking for (Garage Band, iMovie, etc.) Any ideas? Thanks

  • Flip Mino HD imported movies not working right in iMovie 08

I just bought a Flip Mino HD and imported some videos using the built in software from Flip. I then imported those videos into iMovie 08 which worked just fine the first time, but the second time the movies are all messed up. In the library, the clips are mostly gray, except for a few seconds here and there, and the sound on the latest movies is completely messed up - it just sounds like static. I upgraded to the latest version of Quicktime hoping that might fix it, but it didn't. Not sure what the problem is... anyone having similar issues or know of a fix?

OK, but why does iMovie HD accept them? There is a program called DIVX that I have been told will deal with conversion, but I neither know how to use it nor if it will even work.
iMovie HD automatically converts incompatible files to compatible files during import if it can. E.g., if you have the correct QT component installed (such as DivX or Perian, etc), then it normally converts the clip to DV with compatible audio. On the other hand, iMovie '08 does not perform any conversions during file imports as it assumes that whatever compression format you are trying to import is the compression format in which you want to do your editing. If that compression format is not "edit" compatible, then the file is ignored by iMovie '08. Your current option is to either manually convert your files to a compatible format and import them to iMovie '08or use iMovie HD.

Has anyone had this issue. I created my song from itunes to garage band, took my iphotos to create a slide show and when I burned to idvd there are several pauses during playback?

    Hi
SlideShow in iDVD has a 99 photo limit - more than this and all sorts of error occures.
One can have more than one SlideShow on a DVD = X times 99 photos.
or assemble SlideShows in a movie editor (no limit at least not under 650 photos)
(only limit is Time in iDVD (movie time + MENU time --- 60 min or 120 min on SL-DVD and about twice on DL.-DVD )
    I use
    • iMovie up to HD6 - or -
    • FinalCut any version
As they will give a better quality than iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 can do.

  • IPad with iMovie/Garage Band - sample video

My son and I made this over the weekend. ALL created and edited using iMovie and Garage Band for iPad. Filmed with an Olympus E-PL2 camera.

Hi - I used handbrake, imported into iTunes, synced to iPad and opened in iMovie. It was a long process but the only one that seems to work for now...
For importing footage shot with the iPhone, you can transfer it to the iPad using an app called "PhotoSync" and it worked flawlessly for me. I prefer shooting with my E-PL2 though. Thank you all for the comments

  • Do iMovie chapters work in iDVD after being put through Garage Band?

I built a project in iMovie with chapters defined and exported it as 780p video then dragged it to Garage Band to put music tracks to it. When I share it to iDVD will the chapters still work?

There have been several posts on this forum regarding scene selection issues / buttons that don't always link properly to their respective / appropriate chapters or scenes. Menu navigation can be problematic within iDvd'08. This is much less of an issue within Roxio Toast and DVDSP (apple's top end dvd authoring software part of FCS2).
You may want to use the iDvd feedback web form located within iDvd once the app is launched .... simply go to the menu and scroll down to provide iDvd Feedback. Apple WILL take note of requests for added features and / or an update request to resolve a specific issue. It won't happen instantly, but it will get apple's attention.
In the meantime, here's what I'd recommend that does work for me .... iM6=>iDvd'08:
Download iMovie 6 free from apple provided you already have iLife'08:

  • IMovie 09 doesn't import my Flip Mino HD video in native resolution

My Flip Mino HD records video at 1280x720 resolution. I can confirm this by saving a clip directly to my Mac and looking at its settings in Quicktime. However, when I import into iMovie 09 and try to export the clip, the resolution is only 960x540. What's going on Apple? I even went into Preferences and selected Video and told Import 1080i video to import in full resolution. But no go. Am I missing a setting here or does iMovie have a bug in it?

iMovie does import your video in it's native format. It does not alter it. You have to use QuickTime export to achieve any size over 960x540. As long as your video is progressive 720p (which I believe your Flip is) there should be no issues (there is an issue with Interlaced source). Use Share--> Export using Quicktime and use a high quality codec like h.264 or AIC and set your size to 720.

  • Help please: I edited an 8 min song in Garage Band to 2 min but iMovie sees it still as 8 min????

I have a new MacBook Pro with Garage Band '11 and iMovie '11 that came with it.
I edited an 8 minute song into 2 minutes to use in iMovie BUT iMovie isn't reading the newer version of the song; it reads the original.  I tried renaming the file, remixing the song, and still iMovie plays it as the original 8 minute song.  In fact, four renamed versions of the song show up in iMovie under Garage Band and yet they are all the same.
Oh, I also made sure the little purple line was right at the end of my 2 minute sound track and not left where the original song was before I started cutting it.  Still, the same problem.
What am I doing wrong?  Any insights would be most helpful!  It's been about two years since I've used Garage Band - and even then I only used it about ten times -  so treat me like the rookie that I am, ok?
Thanking the Apple Support world-at-large in advance,
    GG

Anyway, Leonie, you did give me one little jeweled piece of information that confirmed what I vaguely remembered from the last time I was putting together videos - once the file is in iMovie, any changes I make outside of iMovie need to be imported back in once again.  That's why I instinctively kept renaming the files.  Thank you for that.... each little piece of info helps, no?
That is on of the irritating aspects of iLife application integration - one would expect, that changes do sync, but they don't.
I'm using version 10.01 andyou two are using the previous generation.
Actually, I am using both versions. I assumed from your first post, that you would be using iMovie '11, version 9.0.9 and not the current version 10.0 - you wrote:
Garage Band '11 and iMovie '11
The version numbering is not the best effort on Apple's part.
But you are right - version 10.0 is not yet as robust as iMovie '11 has been. For serious work I am still mainly using  iMovie '11; I am more or less only paying around with the new version 10.0 to explore it. Final Cut has not yet given me any trouble, but I only use it for effects that are not available in iMovie '11.

  • Its says my phone has synced with another iTunes account on the same computer? I Want my garage band songs to go from my phone back to my laptop but they won't

So my Mac got wiped, obviously all my iTunes bought songs and stuff are rested but in lost most of my Garage band Productions, now the ones that had luckily gone to my phone won't transfer to ituens?

No, it is just saying it is a different iTunes library. If your computer was wiped then the original one is gone and the phone does not recognize the library there.
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a wiped or new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.  Your Garageband creations are obviously not iTunes Store purchases and should be restored from the backup you make for just this kind of situation.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Garage Band Issues on MacBook Pro

I thought of posting this on the Garage Band Discussion but it might be unique to MBP. I was literally recording in a garage on Saturday. The first track to go down was drums and bass - 2 1/2 minutes into the recording the same pop up window came up "Coreaudio - Disk space." I looked this up in the "helps" but nothing came up. It was really irritating. It's a brand new computer so it can't be a memory issue. Anyone had the same problem or know what I should do?
    Thanks in advance.
