Flip Mino Video No longer shows up in iPhoto 09

Please help, my flip mino is showing up on the desktop as an external hard drive and no longer opening up in iphoto 09 (version 8.1.2) for easy quick imports. Could this be something to do with 10.6.4 upgrade or does anyone have any solutions to get it to show up again- ie: any drivers to download or any tips. Any help would be appreciated.

A few tests you can try to narrow down if it is the OS, the Flip itself, or something in your user profile.
First thing to try is simply open up iMovie and see if iMovie can access the Flip (my preferred method of downloading from my Flip is via iMovie, so I know it normally works, at least under Leopard 10.5.x). If that works then there is probably something in iPhoto having an issue.
If iMovie doesn't work, then next thing to try is creating another user account (you can delete it later), open iPhoto in that account (it will be a new blank library) then plug in the flip and see if iPhoto sees it in the new account. If so, then you may have an issue with your main account.
I am not sure what the fix would be for some of the above, but the above will at least help you narrow down who is the culprit.

Why do music videos no longer show up properly?

After updating to OS5 I notice that music videos no longer show up properly.
I have most of mine in playlists, and it show the songs, but only plays the music, not the video?
When I view them in 'Videos' I have no option to sort or show them in a different way!
Considering the iPad is probably more slanted toward movie content, the lack of features for music videos is very disapointing

I think this has always been a lacking feature in the iPad videos app but now it is even worse as you can't go into the music app, context navigate to the video you want and play the music video. It was irritating in the past as it took you back to the lack luster videos app with no sorting or context other than the video tile navigation, now it is TOTALLY un functional.
APPLE DEVOLPMENT please use the video app with 200+ music videos and see how you like it! Or does anyone know of a replacement or more advanced app that will allow a better browse and play interface. Apple's is so basic that it is 'still' just painful!
Music video playlist and shuffle on the iPad would also be nice but sort would be awesome!

The new music interface isn't any better in my opinion either, play buttons at the top so your hand has to be over the top of the screen, store button at the bottom left vs top right as it would be more intuitive like other app purchase button positioning.
Anyone know how to make music videos sort better on the iPad (by artist would be awesome)

Can I transfer Flip Mino Video to my iPod Touch?

The video files created in my Flip Mino are .AVI files, but they won't seem to upload into iTunes for my iPod Touch. Does anyone know if this is possible, and how to do it??

Use a tool such as MPEG Streamclip or QuickTime Pro to convert them to MPEG-4 or QuickTime and then import those into iTunes. Some AVIs can't be used in Mac OS X.

Recently viewed iPhone photos no longer showing up in iPhoto. How can I retrieve them? Their disappearance might be due to a software update I was promoted to do.

Recent photos from my iPhone no longer appear in my iPhoto library, or at least I can't find them. I just looked at them in iPhoto yesterday or the day before. Baffling. Photos from my other device (camera) do show up okay, although the "Last 12 months" folder does not show anything more recent that August. The only thing I can think of that has changed is that I accepted a prompt for a software upgrade for my macbook earlier today. It might have had something in it that affected iPhoto (?). I have an EHD backup via time machine. Not sure how to get individual photos off of that, however.
Any ideas re. causes or solutions? Some precious photos in that missing batch.

Embeded Videos no longer show up in Dreamweaver CS5 Peview mode

I am having a technical problem with Dreamweaver. the website I
have been working on for the past 4 months has a lot of videos embed off of
YouTube and all has been fine but for a reason that I cannot figure out two days ago. The videos I was
embedding of YouTube stopped showing up in the preview mode of Dreamweaver in
any browser. The grey box. Is still there in Design mode, but not in preview.
Mode. Just A note any video embedded prior to two days ago still works fine I have fried the following
Tried 3 different browsers Crome Mozilla and IE
Tried 7 different videos off of YouTube
Tried to embed a previously successful video that had worked off of YouTube
Tried a different authoring programs(Kompozer,Frontpage)
Tried testing the files on a browser on another computer
I have even tried switching to Dreamweaver CS6
None of this options have worked at fixing the problem but my new website
will have lots of videos and I need to preview them in the browser any
suggestions would be great.

Apple TV some videos no longer show up.

After recent update to Apple TV, I am no longer seeing some of my videos under Movies. They are still in iTunes however. It seems that these are MP4 videos. Any ideas?

Have you installed all updated any security software lately, or for that matter any other software which may interfere with iTunes.

Iphoto videos no longer show up in imovie

I no longer have any iphoto videos in imovie. They use to automatically load in, and now they don't. Any suggestions....will I have to import each video one by one, and if so, how do I do that?

I'm having almost the same issue. Older videos from iphoto appear in ivideo but I can't figure out how to import the new videos that are already in iphoto. Have you had any luck getting the new videos from iphoto to import?

In the past, all I need to do to view my video playlist was to use the iPod app. However, after the iOS 5 update, it appears that the iPod app is gone and its closest equivalent is the music app, which does not list any of my videos that I *know* are present on the iPad. Does anyone have an idea of how to deal with video playlists after the iOS 5 update?

Iphone 6 videos aren't showing up in iPhoto after import

After importing tons of photos from my new phone to iphoto, I noticed that none of the videos are showing up. I deleted after importing, so they're no longer on my phone either. All my old videos from my iPhone 5 are showing up, just not the videos from my 6+. In Spotlight, I typed in h.264 and the videos are showing up and directing me to iPhoto, they're just not showing up there at all. What's going on? Thank you!

Disconnect the external drive, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, enter /Volumes/ as the folder's path, move all aliases out of this folder, and then reconnect the drive.

IPhone no longer shows up in iPhoto after iTunes update

I took some photos with my iPhone 3G today. iPhoto launched when I attached the iPhone (USB) but it no longer appears in the sidebar and so I cannot download the photos. It worked perfectly 3 days ago. The only system change is that I updated iTunes and iMovie yesterday. There is a possibility that iTunes has disrupted things. The iPhone appears in the iTunes sidebar

Start with the troubleshooting basics:
1. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
2. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

Photos no longer show up in iphoto

Macbook Pro using iphoto 6.0.5
After importing photos from my camera, I was prompted to "update my thumbnails", which I did. There were then blank squares in my thumbnail view, so I thought I would close and reopen iphoto to have it all reload to restore them in the view. When iphoto restarted, none of my photos loaded, and it says "no photos" at the bottom of the window. All my albums are intact below the library listing in the left pane, but clicking on them results in no pictures appearing (they are empty).
It appears that my original and modified pictures folders are intact, though some rolls seem to be missing, and in some rolls that ARE there, some pictures have rthe dialog "appear to be corrupt" and will not open, whilst others open but are half a picture, are garbled, etc etc.
I attempted to rebuild the thumbnails (large and small) and library, but as there are no pictures to work with, it "rebuilt" in under a second.
If I use searchlight to locate a specific picture, I find it in its folder in my user picture folder, but when I double click on it, iphoto opens, but the picture does not appear in iphoto.
Possibly related, my entire music library went missing as well, at the same time. I had to reimport all the albums from their folders in my user music folder. Of note is the fact that none of my playlists were present, and in this case, my iphoto albums list IS.
I am very frustrated as I stupidly have not backed up my computer since I have added some recent photography. Can anyone advise how to get my library back up and running, and possibly restoring the files that may have gone missing or corrupt?

I had a similar problem with my girlfriend's newly purchased MacBook after I retrieved her iPhoto Library from an external backup hard drive (the backup was from her old iBook). I got grayed out boxes with either question marks or exclamation marks. I tried rebuilding the library by holding down the alt+apple keys at start up, which did not solve the problem. I then went online and tried some of the suggestions in this forum, including fixing iPhoto library permissions with "BatCHmod" and rebuilding the iPhoto library with "iPhoto Library Manager". The latter managed to only retrieve +/- 600 out of a total of over 6,000 pics! I then retrieved the iPhoto Library from the backup a second time and replaced the first copy I had attempted to fix with various programs. I then opened iPhoto and... same grey boxes as the first time around!
I then quit iPhoto and deleted the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist" file in "username"/Library/preferances and restarted iPhoto. This recovered all 6000+ photos, by somehow forcing iPhoto to act as if I and opened it the first time i.e it asked whether I wanted to use it to handle transfers from digital cameras etc.

when i'm syncing iPod it no longer shows individual folders that you could select from. it seems to me that it wants to wipe out the folders that are existing on my iPod to replace it with entire iPhoto library without separate folders.
also, in system preferences it no longer shows folders from iPhoto. ?
i don't understand. could it have anything to do with iWeb? that is about the only thing i've "played" around with recently...

okay, so i just restarted my computer & the desktop changed.
i usually only sleep the computer & so the desktop doesn't change. even when i did shutdown/restart computer in the past, the desktop did not change. i think somehow this is all connected. it seems if i don't have whatever photo my desktop is saved on the desktop, it will change it back into some generic photo...should i just make an appointment at an apple store? i don't have iPhoto 08 & there have been no updates...

IMovie 09 doesn't import my Flip Mino HD video in native resolution

My Flip Mino HD records video at 1280x720 resolution. I can confirm this by saving a clip directly to my Mac and looking at its settings in Quicktime. However, when I import into iMovie 09 and try to export the clip, the resolution is only 960x540. What's going on Apple? I even went into Preferences and selected Video and told Import 1080i video to import in full resolution. But no go. Am I missing a setting here or does iMovie have a bug in it?

iMovie does import your video in it's native format. It does not alter it. You have to use QuickTime export to achieve any size over 960x540. As long as your video is progressive 720p (which I believe your Flip is) there should be no issues (there is an issue with Interlaced source). Use Share--> Export using Quicktime and use a high quality codec like h.264 or AIC and set your size to 720.

The Videos are showed up front 4 months, but now they are no longer to be seen. When you star a video first the hard drive starts, but then it stops and hangs up. I have to restart it, starting with the apple logo....

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

Close the videos app and launch it again.
To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
if they still don't show up after you launch the app again, try resetting the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
