Flip video battery status

I just got a new Ultra HD Flip camera and do not see a battery status indicator on the screen.
I used to have an indicator on my Flip mino. Where is the battery status indicator on this device?

The Flip Ultra HD camera does not have an on-screen battery life indicator.  In a number of reviews for this camera, this is a common "con". Instead, the recording indicator light on the front of the device doubles as a battery life indicator.  You can confirm this with a simple Google search and you'll find many reviews such as this: http://www.makefilmwork.com/2009/04/27/the-flip-ultra-hd/

  • Flip Video HD

Recently bought a Flip Video HD. When I take video and play it on the actual camcorder, it runs smooth with no hiccups; however, when I import the videos to my Mac (either it iPhoto or iMovie) the video is not fluid, skips and the audio is never in sync with the actual video, which seems to pause throughout. Very frustrating - any suggestions or help is very much appreciated. I hope I didn't spend $200 on a piece of junk
    thx

Note that the Flip minoHD shoots large frames (1280x720 pixels) full of lots of video data. An older Mac may not have the power to display all this accurately in 'real time'.
..I know; the Flip's just a teeny thing with a miniature battery inside; but it is optimised for doing one special job - video recording/playback - at very high data-processing rates. A Mac has to maintain a large screen display, monitor its operating system and peripherals, read off and write to a hard disc (..slower than the flash memory in the Flip..) and check all the keys on the keyboard and look and see what the mouse is doing ..all at the same time! iMovie will sometimes warn that video playback of hi-def material won't be as smooth as you might expect.
You also need to be sure that the frames-per-second rate of your iMovie project is 30fps - same as the Flip minoHD - otherwise ..if you're using European PAL 25fps frame rate.. you'll always get jerky replay.
(The last section of this video (..from the 'e' of 'Large', beneath the replay window..) was shot on a Flip minoHD. People and objects move -j-e-r-k-i-l-y- in this 25fps movie.
Compare that to the last section of THIS MOVIE - it's the same footage, but in a 30fps project! - in which the people and the objects move nice and smoothly.)
And no; it's not junk: but you need a fast, recent Mac to display it properly.

  • Synaptics, acpi issues, battery status

I have a laptop with poor acpi support. The battery status reports correctly for about an hour of use then the icon turns black and acpi -bs shows the batter not to be present. I have heard that this can be fixed by setting up the kernel for EC polling mode instead of IRQ mode. I don't really understand what this means or how to do it though.
    I'm running the 2.6.28 kernel.
Another problem I'm having on my laptop is that my xorg.conf has the mouse setup as a USB mouse, while it's actually a touchpad. I've tried configuring it according to the wiki, but any time I try to put anything regarding a touchpad or synaptics in xorg.conf, It ruins my X server and I have to regenerate xorg.conf to get gdm running again. The way the mouse is currently set up I can't use side scrolling.

Also my webcam doesn't work. It's a bisoncam, and I thought the uvcvideo module was supposed to work for them but it doesn't seem to. "dmesg | grep video" seems to detect it, but I can't get any webcam apps to load.

  • MacBook battery status inaccurate

    Hey,
The battery status in my menu bar keeps changing the time left until the battery drains every few minutes. For example it says 4:29 and after a few seconds it changes to 4:35 and sometimes 5:26 to 4:40 which is extra strange since the MacBook battery is suppose to last up to 5:00 hours.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

The indicated time left on the battery depends on what you are doing with your MacBook at the moment. If you are using Airport online, watching a video, or are performing CPU-intensive tasks of any kind. the remaining time will be shorter than if you are simply reading or typing a letter on a word processor or if the MacBook is idle. This is normal.

  • How to reset battery status in menu bar?

After upgrading to 10.5.5 I experienced sudden loss of performance with both of my batteries.
Overnight the battery yielded only 45 min, and the recharge time was usually about 40 min as well.
As a result of frustration, I decided to crack open the case of 1 battery and connect a 12V 20W bulb to fully discharge the battery.
Possibly as a result of the deep discharge, the battery took 6 hrs to recharge, and now yields approx 3-4 hrs of power.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM. The battery status in the menu bar does not seem to reflect the battery's newly found performance.
It keeps says "40 min." left, and when it runs out of minutes, it displays: "Calculating ... remaining"
The same odd behaviour occurs when charging the battery. It says: "35 min" to full charge, and when it runs out of minutes it displays: "Battery finishing charging"
MOREOVER, yesterday, the low level power indicator appeared, but the computer kept working for another 1.5 hrs before going to sleep.
Finally the System profiler shows this information
    Battery Information:
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 1661
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 1361
    Amperage (mA): -1203
    Voltage (mV): 11441
    Cycle Count: 71
After the deep discharge, the Full Charge capacity jumped form 640 to 1661.
    That's good, isn't it?
But how can I reset the battery status in the menu bar to reflect the actual performance of the
battery? Or did the deep discharge damage something?
    Regards

I talked to Apple repeatedly and they refused to replace the battery in spite of the many good arguments I brought forward. Their only argument is that the battery is old (was shipped in 2006)
I even requested them to ask their own technicians whether
it is normal for a battery with only 71 cycles to discharge so soon.
    My request was declined.

    regards,
AnwarA non authorative 'guess' is that the controller is attempting to learn the rate of discharge of the battery. It needs a little time (maybe quite a few hours, even a day) to do this.
Batteries are a weak spot of things.
Get prepared to replace the battery .... otherwise I suspect (and I know not the 6180 specifically and I am not bothered to look it up, you can as well as I), the appliance may degrade and run a little slower.

  • HP Battery status changed from "Weak" to "Replace"....

    Hi,
I had purchased HP Laptop dv4-1211 TU in India in 2009. Now i stay in US. Recently few days back, i checked a option " HP Battery Check" in my laptop. When clicked it said my battery status is "Weak". I didn't bother much. But today when i checked it back it said " Replace". How do i go about this?
    My queries are:
    1. Is it safe to use my laptop in this condition?
    2. Battery gets heated up too much after this, so do i need to replace with a new one or can i plug in and use it, i.e i meant on AC power and not battery alone?
Waiting for the response from u.... pls help me....

Hi sweety2222!: most laptops that use batteries can also use AC as well
but to be sure I'd check the manual the manual will also tell you if you can replace it, the type of battery & how to replace it as well
    good luck
    hope this helps you

  • How to save Flip video files to external hard drive (and need new vid camera rec)?

I am trying to back up my Flip videos from my MacBook OS X 10.5.8 on to my external hard drive. They will not drop & drag directly from the flipshare software and I did locate all the mp4 files in my finder under "All Videos" where I think I can copy them over but they are not organized by title or anything and I only want to back up the clips I've edited and the movies I've created, not all the raw footage.
I'm wondering if I'm going to have to import all of these files into iMovie in order to do this in a way that will be helpful? that seems like it will take forever since *I think* you have to do them one at a time and I have almost 2 years of footage of my kids...Is there a quick way to import video into iMovie?
Side bar, anyone know of a good video camera that is small & easy like Flip but not part of a phone? My flip has died & since Cisco is abandoning the brand, I need something new.
    Thank you!

    Hi Tarun 49,
If you are having issues with your iPhone such as you describe, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device

  • Battery status won't hit 100% anymore

I've had my PB about a month and a half (got it new believe it or not) and recently I noticed that even though the battery status will say "charged", the percentage will not show 100% when plugged in. At first it was 99% and now it's 97%. I've calibrated my battery and try to let it run fully down every once in a while.
The battery info in profiler shows this:
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 5309
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 5183
Is this normal or should I be concerned or what?
    Thanks everyone.

That doesn't sound out of the ordinary. See this Apple note: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88344

  • Capturing Flip Video to Final Cut Express Will not launch Flip Video

I have done this many times before. I am using Final Cut Express and I am plugging my Flip Video camera into my MacBook Pro and the Flip Video software does not launch. It does not seem to be the
Flip Video software that is the problem. I have upgraded the Flip Video software. The prompt I get says Flip Video quit unexpectely. I have no idea what is going on. I get a huge log of computer terms which I do not understand. Any ideas? Wish I knew more.
Here is a screen shot of what I am getting after I attempt to open Flip Video Share Capture etc./Users/Tim/Desktop/Screen shot 2010-08-04 at 11.36.11 PM.png

The problem is with your Flip Video software. It is launching but then crashing - that's what the message means:
The prompt I get says Flip Video quit unexpectely.
"Quit Unexpectedly" is a nice way to say "Crashed".
You could try trash the Flip Software.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards.)
    *What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
If that doesn't help you need to contact the makers of the Flip software.
    Regards

  • Missing Blackberry Battery Status Indicator

I've looked all over the web, my instruction manual, the index inside the phone, and in still cannot find the meaning of this symbol in the middle of my battery bar. From what I've seen on the internet, its as almost as if it does not exist. I would probably believe so if it was not for the fact that I am staring at it right now as I type this. I have had problems with the USB port on it before and I am pretty sure that has something to do with it.  Also when Its plugged into the computer and the port and USB are  finally working in unison, the computer says that it is malfunctioned.
The icon appears when I've tried to connect to it to a computer or even sometimes to an outlet. It looks like a C or parentheses with a scrunched up 3 sort of like this:
    C    3
    or
     (    3
I was surprised that no one else has seen or inferred about this icon and even more surprised that a complete index of all battery status indicators would exist; including those for malfunctioned or damaged batteries.  Any help or recommendations to help me solve this problem is greatly appreciated.
