Flip4Mac plugin crashes?

i am getting crashes on lion related to a flip4mac plugin and i cannot figure out how to disable or unload this. i tried preferences and some other pulldowns including file > aperture plugins but this takes me to a website that lets me download plugins.
can anyone help?
thanks in advance.

You might want to try upgrading Flip4Mac here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=9442
On the other hand, if you don't need WMV (Windows Media Video) support in QuickTime, you could just delete the plugin.  An alternative would be to use VLC to run any WMV files you might have:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html
To delete Flip4Mac just delete the Flip4Mac files located at:
/Library/QuickTime
Make sure to go to your system drive/Library/QuickTime, as opposed to username/Library/QuickTime (~/Library/QuickTime).

  • I am unable to watch Netflix on my computer; my Silverlight plugin crashes every time I attempt to watch a video.

The Silverlight plugin crashes whenever I try and watch a video on Netflix. I'm using Vista 64-bit, and I'm running the most recent update of Silverlight. This is a persistent problem for me (i.e. I've been unable to watch Netflix in Firefox, including the most recent stable releases).

I was getting this error and tried everything. The only thing that worked was uninstalling Silverlight 4.0 and going back to 3.0, which I got from oldapps(dot)com

  • Firefox Flash plugin crashes when FF launched with "Run as different user"

I often start Firefox in Windows 7 (x64) using the "Run as different user" mechanism. After upgrading my Flash plugin to v11 (11.8.800.94), the browser will hang for several minutes when visiting any page that contains Flash content. When Firefox becomes responsive again, scrolling a page with Flash content will cause the app to hang again. Disabling the Flash plugin eliminates the problem.
It seems the plugin is silently crashing -- I'm not alerted to a plugin crash in any way (no dialog or yellow "Flash player crashed" notice at the top of the window), but after FF hangs I will see a new crash report entry in the FF about:crashes list. An example crash report is available at https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/ff452291-b5b2-44e4-a172-416792130818
The plugin does not crash when Firefox is running under the same account that is logged onto Windows interactively -- only when running FF as a different user. For example, if I log onto Windows with user account Adam and launch FF normally, the problem does not exist. If I close FF and launch it as user Bob (shift+right-click Firefox Shortcut, choose "Run as different user"), the problem will appear. However, if I log into Windows as user Bob and launch FF normally, the problem does not exist.
I have tried the following as troubleshooting steps, all to no effect:
Create new Windows user accounts to rule out potential Windows or Firefox profile issues.
Use another PC (also Windows 7 x64). The same behavior occurs on both PCs
    Disable AVG antivirus.
Upgrade Firefox to latest version (23.0.1).
    Disable Flash hardware acceleration.
Give both user accounts full local admin privileges.
Can anyone suggest something to try next?
Update: Per the troubleshooting instructions at < http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0 >, I was able to eliminate the problem by adding the line
    ProtectedMode=0
to my C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg file to disable Flash Player Protected Mode. There are instructions on that page for submitting a Protected Mode-related bug, and I will follow through with that.

Maybe you did't understand my previous statement. There are no crashes in FF 3.6, There is no previous evidence FF 14 was ever here, I completely uninstalled all trace of Firefox, no app data, no preferences, no cache. I will upgrade to FF14 so I can send IDs,
    so here ya go.

  • Is there any other solution for Adobe Flash plugin crashing than the posted one about updating Flash and Mozilla? I cannot open any PDF files online and updated both Mozilla and Flash player to most recent with no change in the crashing.

I was able to open PDFs online until version 8. Since upgrading to version 9 and now 10, I have crashes every time I try to open a PDF online and can see the form briefly for about two seconds before the plugin crashes. I followed instructions on the solution to update Adobe Flash and Mozilla, and they are both to the most recent version and it still crashes every time, no dent in the symptoms with the upgrades. I tried also downgrading to version 3, and it sill crashes. Although in some cases I can get around by saving the PDFs for reading them through Acrobat on my PC, it is a hassle as I do not want to save everything to my drive just to see what it is, plus sometimes forms are generated on a click and I cannot see these forms at all.
I had to migrate to Chrome as I needed the PDFs and could not wait any longer - any suggestions to make Mozilla work again would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Please check if this happens in [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode Safe Mode] after enabling only the PDF plugin in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons''' > '''Plugins'''. You can also '''Disable''' the PDF plugin and try an alternative, for eg. [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/pdfjs/?src=cb-dl-created pdf.js]. Please also go through the add-on reviews, ratings, help and FAQ.

  • How to find out WHY Flash Player 11.2.202.236 plugins crash in Firefox ESR 10.0.6 on 64-bit Linux

Flash crashes dozens of times a day and I am trying to figure out WHY.
I have the recommended latest player & browser for my operating system.
The only diagnostic information I have is that the crashes seem to occur when a few tabs are open with videos loading in them and when any one video is closed, flash then locks up the browser for about 30 seconds, and then ALL the videos that were loading in separate tabs are dumped & say that the plugin crashed.
Details about the system from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
    1. Flash player version: 11.2.202.236
    2. Operating System: Linux 2.6.32-279.2.1.el6.x86_64 (64-bit)
    3. Browser: Firefox Firefox ESR 10.0.6
This is the correct set of components.
Debugging, I've modified the about:config dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs to any value of 10 seconds to 45 seconds (the default), but it doesn't seem to make a difference in the number of crashes.
Any idea how to get more diagnostic information?

Unfortunately, there's nothing in "/var/crash" after the numerous flash crashes so I'm not sure where to look next.
    The 'dmesg' command reports:
    npviewer.bin[16884]: segfault at 340 ip 00007f26bda22ab0 sp 00007fffa8abbe78 error 6 in libflashplayer.so[7f26bd68d000+1179000]
Bringing up the CentOS 6 "Applications->System Tools->System Monitor", I see the numerous Flash crashes appear to have some relationship with "npviewer.bin", which uses the "/usr/lib64/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so" shared object module and which has numerous "open files", one of which is "/home/<username>/.xsession-errors".
Looking at "/home/<username>/.xsession-errors", we find these lines, which may be useful.

  • FireFox opens & Adobe Flash Plugin crashes in a WOT "automatic" download.

WOT “automatically downloads” on a separate tab every time I start FireFox. Almost every time I start FireFox the Adobe Flash Plugin crashes in the WOT automatic download and ties up my PC. The problem does not occur with Internet-Explorer which I seldom use.
1- I removed WOT and re-installed it, but it continued the same.
2- I reinstalled the Adobe Flash Plugin which I always keep up to date.
    3- Please work this out.
4- Why must WOT automatically download on a separate tab every time I start FireFox? It is very annoying.
Thank you for all you do. Have a blessed day, Steve Lahey.

The Silverlight plugin crashes every time i try to watch a video at the Universal Sports website. I have uninstalled this plugin and re-enstalled it many times with no success

It doesn't matter what I do I still get the plugin to crash. I've removed every trace of Internet Explorer in the registry. Download fresh versions of Mozilla and Silverlight. I uninstalled both of them and cleaned any lingering files. Reinstalled Mozilla, and Silverlight. Same error. No more movies for me. :>/ See entry below.

  • Lion 10.7.4 Flash Plugin Crashes

I am using a mid 2009 Macbook pro, and just updated to 10.7.4. Since doing this my Flash plugin crashes on both Safari and Firefox so I can't even load Youtube videos.
I've got the most updated version of Firefox and Flash player, and after looking through forums have tried rebooting my Macbook several times. Each time I reboot Youtube videos load a little bit more without crashing, but I havn't got more than 5 seconds into a video yet.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Hi...
    Quit your browsers.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Storage tab. Click: Delete All
Now uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed plugin first.
Launch Safari From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
    Now try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.

  • When I try to print coupons, I get a message that the coupon printer plugin has crashed. I've tried following the instructions for when the Adobe Flash plugin crashes, but reloading the page does not work. Just sits there for 5 minutes doing nothing.

Happens when going to print.coupons.com. I click the "learn more" button on the message that the plugin has crashed, and I get sent to the Adobe Flash plugin crash info page on Firefox. They say just to reload the page. There is a button for this. I click it and the page tries to reload for 5 minutes before freezing.

  • Flash plugin crashes after Lion 10.7.4 update

Has any one had this most recent Flash related problem?
After updating my system to 10.7.4, the flash plugin crashes in both Safari and Firefox.  Videos don;t so much as start.
I reverted back to 10.7.3 with time machine and flash workes fine again.  Reinstalled the update, and broken again.
Safari and Firefox are all up to date as well as the flash plugin. All caches have been cleared. Based on info I have gotten from this and other forums, I have checked all the settings in the flash system preferences.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

I've had a similar problem.  On my first boot up after installing 10.7.4,  Firefox would not open.  Crashed every time.  Safari was not affected.  I have no idea if it was related to the flash plugin, but I did install a the latest version of that a couple of weeks ago.
Here's what fixed it: a second boot up.

  • Anyone else having problems with Adobe Flash Plugin Crashing on them?

Ok. Me, along with several other people have been dealing with Adobe, regarding their Flash Plugin constantly crashing. The Plugin Container works well on Firefox, but because Adobe crashes alot, It runs up the CPU usage on the Plugin container which slows the browser down. Alot of us believe that the problem lies with Adobe's software, but so far no one at Adobe is willing to fess up and state that is the fact. So I am coming here to see if anyone has any answers that might help get Adobe's head out of their 3rd point of contact. The Problem is the Plugin crashes on any browser and any combination of Windows. Everything is updated on Firefox. Adobe plugin is updated along with other key software that is currently updated. Adobe still crashes. Anyone have any valid suggestions or ideas what could be causing this? I would like to have something that I can go back to Adobe with and give them and tell them where to start. I want this mess fixed. Its annoying as hell.

They are looking into it, but they are moving incredibly slow. Meanwhile, They are getting unhappy customers who are trying to tweak their browsers in such a way to force Adobe to work for them so they can do what they need. I even had to lower the Plugin Containers priority setting to low so it doesn't hog the CPU so I can do what I need, If barely. Its just frustrating and I am doing what I can to come up with something I can hand Adobe and say Here! Now fix it. lol

  • Quicktime Plugin crashes and Window size not correct when running a course from an LMS (Coursemill)

I am trying to run a course from an LMS (Coursemill) and a couple issues are occurring.
First, the quicktime plugin crashes, therefore the mp3 sound of the course does not play. When I reload the page, I get an "Unable to find API adapter" error message and the page won't load.
Also, the predetermined window size does not work properly and I end up with vertical and horizontal scroll bars which I do not want.
These issues are of high importance and need a solution ASAP. Please contact me.

If you haven't already visited the using QuickTime Plugin with Firefox KB article, I would recommend you first start there. If your problem still persists & no solution is found after referencing it just reply back to this response & we will go another route.

  • Quicktime plugin crashes in all browsers in XP

I'm unable to play any Quicktime videos in the browser (using trailers.apple.com as a test). In both Chrome and IE, it doesn't even get to start playing the video, the browser just says that the plugin crashed.
I also notice that if I go to Control Panel -> Quicktime, clicking on the Streaming tab results in a runtime error and the preferences window closes.
I AM able to play .mov files if I open them from the filesystem in Explorer.
I have XP SP3 with the latest patches. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quicktime. I have tried disabling DirectDraw and Direct3D, but nothing seems to help. Does anyone know what this is, or know how to diagnose it further?

  • Ever since I installed Firefox 4, my QuickTime plugin crashes when I view a certain web site.

This never happened with the previous versions of Firefox. The latest version of the QuickTime plugin is installed.
Since posting this, I've updated to Firefox 5. The same problem continues with the newest version.

I was able to stop the crashing by give the embed tag a non-zero height.
Originally I had a zero height and width on the embed sound tag on my pages. That worked fine until FF4, after which the Quicktime plugin crashed. Just updated my pages to have zero width and one height. The embed still does not show, but it no longer crashes the Quicktime plugin.
Perhaps some smart FF developer would know why this work around fixes the crash.

Ibooks author 1.1 was working fine till yesterday.  Today I keep getting sfwordprocessing plugin crashes as soon as I open the file I am working on.  Any help ?
I have a book about 30 MB in size, nothing fancy.

Do you recall which font you were using in that book?
Have you tried removing the plugin and working without it?
Have you run Font Book to check for corrupted, incompatible or duplicate fonts?
