"flipping" album info and artwork

how do I turn this off?

did you read that article? - there's a section: "Why Video Memory Is Little Concern To LCD TV" which includes:
"If someone tells you to avoid an LCD product because of burn in, you can be sure the person you're speaking to was uninformed on the nature of LCD products"
so where exactly in this thread did toonz say to avoid an LCD product? nowhere that i can see.

  • Lost all album info and cannot retrieve it!!!

I purchased my first ipod nano (4gb) and have spent absolutely ages transferring music and saving from cds onto my laptop (wimdows vista) and purchasing from itunes store. Then, all the album info has been lost! I've tried to 'Get album info' and had friends who use itunes with their ipods but no one knows what to do. Can anybody help me please?

Thanks for the clarification, Shaney boy.
Although it still strikes me as a very unusual situation. Because in addition to the Song Names themselves, the Artist and Album names (along with a variety of other information) are all stored in the actual music files.
And offhand I can't imagine why that information would either disappear from the files or become non-existant as far as iTunes is concerned.
    Just a few questions:
I'm assuming the CD's were imported with iTunes, can you confirm whether or not that is the case?
Is it just the information that is disappearing, i.e., are the Artist and Album columns still there and all blank or have the columns themselves disappeared?
Do you - at least temporarily - get the lost information back when you highlight the tracks and go to the iTunes Advanced menu > Get CD Track Names?
Whatever the case, perhaps if you post a screenshot of your iTunes Library display, as per Hudgie's User Tip , it will provide us with some clue as to what might be going on.

  • Album Name and Artwork do not show up on AAC protected files?

If I import a protected AAC album from the Itunes store and then burn a CD of that album, and then try to play in on another computer Mac or PC none of track names or artwork shows up and gracenote says it does not exist.
    Any suggestions?

Gracenote tries to recognize CDs by the pattern of track lengths. When you burn a CD from purchased tracks, it may not come out exactly like the commercial version of the album did, and Gracenote doesn't recognize it.
To "teach" Gracenote about your album, finish burning the CD, and with the CD still in the drive, use the command *Advanced > Submit CD Track Names*. Give Gracenote a day or so, and after that it will recognize your CD on any computer running iTunes.

  • I recently moved my itunes library. Itunes deleted a lot of artist and album info and album art. Now it won't let me edit the info to correct it. Any advice on to correct this?

I recently bought a new Asus laptop and moved my itunes to it. All of my files are stored on an external hard drive. In the process of importing my files into itunes on the new laptop, some artist and album info has been deleted. A lot of album art is missing as well. I attempted to correct the missing info, but now itunes won't let me edit any track, artist or album info. Any idea what the problem is and how I can fix it? Thanks.

You can't use your account's balance for gifting, you can only use a credit card - your balance can only be used to buy content for yourself. Until you pay what you owe iTunes then you won't be able to download any items from the store on that account.
If you haven't got a valid credit card then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they can cancel the gift or take what you owe them from your balance: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Album Info and Sort Order?

Two Questions really, both of which I think (I hope!) are just me not quite getting the interface:
    1) In iPhoto an album can have comments associated with the it. I tended to put in notes that related to all the pictures in the album, when I did the import from iPhoto I can't seem to find these album comments anywhere, I can only get the inspector to show a given image version info.
    2) When looking at the listing of albums on the left I have them in folders by year 2001, 2002, etc. Within each folder everything seems to be alphabetical - if I have albums called:
"A Album 2005-10-05" and "B Album 2005-01-10" then A comes before B and they are not in the proper order. Is there anyway to tell the Aperture to either:
    - Sort in date order?
    - Don't sort at all and allow me to just drag and place the albums in whatever order I want?
I know I can rename my albums to have the date info at the start of the album in order to get this to work, but I don't really have a ton of motivation to do that for hundreds of albums. I guess a third question is if there would be some useful way to automate that?

I had the same issue. I compared the "get info" for two songs from the same U2 album, and the difference in my case was that the song from group A had U2 listed as the album artist. Song B was in a different group and that field was blank. I typed U2 into that field, and voila! The wayward songs migrated into the correct album.

  • How do I delete / remove Album info & artwork?

    Hello, Good people of Appleville!
I have an issue.  I'm very picky about my music.  Always have been.  I've been very careful to limit the information and data on each song to Title, Artist, & Genre.  However, having recently bought a Iphone 5s, it automatically updated via the cloud, so when my music is playing, it shows me those album pictures.  I don't want them there.  They aren't objectionable, it's just not orderly, and it bothers me.  I've managed to remove them from everything on the Itunes library, but the Iphone library still has a few holdouts.  Anyone have any idea how to edit the files as they are on the Phone to get rid of the Album info and artwork?
    Clint

Right click (control+click if using a one button mouse) on the file you want to remove the artwork from, choose Get Info then the Artwork tab, click on the image and press the delete button then OK. To remove from multiple items, highlight the adjacent tracks in your selection (click on the first in the list, hold down the shift key and click on the last), right click and choose Get Info, choose yes when you are asked if you want to edit multiple items, tick the box beside the small empty artwork window about halfway down on the right. If you are updating your iPod automatically the artwork will be removed the next time you connect, If you are updating manually, carry out the procedure above with the iPod connected and choose the song from the iPod list rather than the iTunes library.

  • Match not updating Album info

    Hi,
I enabled Match and let it upload missing songs, mostly compilation albums.
Once they were on Match I realised that a lot of the albums had incorrect info (causing the compilation albums to appear many many times in my iPhone).
I fixed the issue on my laptop, but I can't get the changes to roll out to Match.
What am I supposed to do? How do I get it to sync the changes? Ive tried doing "Update iTunes Match" but that hasn't done it either.
    Suggestions?

  • Artist Album info not showing some songs

I have a 30g fifth gen iPod, with about 4800 songs on it, running iTunes 6.0.5.20 on Windows XP SP2.
When I first got it, a lot of my files had bad data, so I cleared out all the info except for the Artist and Track, and then manually corrected all the data to make it work. What this means, is all of my songs previously didn't have any album info, and when I'd go to the Artists menu and select one, it would go to a list of albums where "All >" was the only option, and then that would display all of the songs for that artist.
Recently, I bought a few new CDs and I was ripping them to put them on my iPod, and now all the other songs that I had from those artists before won't show up under the Artist section, because it skips straight to the CD I put on rather than giving me a list of albums to choose from.
I know it's not a problem with my tags, because they all worked fine before I put these new albums on there.
Am I gonna be forced to include "dummy" album info in some songs?
    Custom   Windows XP

Right after I posted, I found another topic that basically answered my question.

  • Why do i not get album info when copying cd's into itunes?

I have been importing music from my cd's into my itunes library. I am wondering why album info and track names do not automatically transfer over into itunes? I am having to type each song name and album name in individually - is there a way around this?
    Cheers

That just depends who made the CD. Some have that info, and some don't. It sounds like the one's you're importing don't.
Also, some get that info off the Internet, so you'll want that computer connected while importing.

  • Can anyone help me write a script that would click "get info" and then "enter" on each movie in my itunes library? I am asking because my itunes 11 repeatedly loses the artwork to my movies in my itunes library.

Can anyone help me write a script that would click "get info" and then "enter" on each movie in my itunes library? I am asking because my itunes 11 repeatedly loses the artwork to my movies in my itunes library. I can restore the artwork (and make my apple tv see the movie exists as well) by going into the movie library and clicking on each movie by hand, slecting get info, and then selecting enter. Now doing this 10 times in 20 days was fun and all BUT I would really like to automate the process so everytime itunes screws it up I can fix it easier.
I saw this example of an itunes script that restores artwork for music
tell application "iTunes" set theSelection to selection repeat with i from 1 to count of theSelection tell (item i of theSelection) set artworkCount to count of artwork repeat artworkCount times set theArtwork to data of artwork 1 delete artwork 1 set data of artwork artworkCount to theArtwork end repeat end tell end repeat end tell
but I need to tweak this to fit my needs for simply clicking the "get info" button and "enter" in the movie library rather than all the stuff this guy has listed. Any ideas or help on writing this? Thanks.

Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

  • Itunes Match deletes albums and artwork from the base PC

I use Windows Seven and have immaculate metadata on all songs.  No albums are broken up and everything works perfectly.  When I tried to use the itunes match feature, a bunch of old albums that I imported from the original CD's were deleted.  In addition, about 30% of my album art disappeared and could not be seen in the "get info" window for each of those albums.
Luckily, I made a backup of itunes prior to turning on and purchasing the match service. I fixed this problem as follows:  I deleted my itunes folder, removed itunes and icloud from my computer, downloaded itunes and reinstalled it. Everything works like it did before I started.  Everything was restored. I immediately went to the itunes store menu and made sure that itunes match was not turned on.  I was pleased to see that it wasn't. In other words, I was worried it would know my Apple ID and turn itself on but it didn't.  I would like my 25 dollars back but I'm so happy that the debacle was averted, I'll write this one off.
The big point here is that Match can delete albums and artwork.  In my case, 99% of the albums were from the original CD's.  My reason for purchasing the expensive CD's is to have possession of the original wav files. You might be interested to know that the artwork that was missing was pretty big, usually about 500 x 500 pixels, so maybe that's why Match couldn't deal with it.  I don't know if this problem occurs when all of your music is purchased directly from Apple.
The moral of this story: if you back everything up beforehand and this happens to you, it is easily fixed with minimal effort.

same here... no matter if iOS5 or iOS6... When you set up iTunes Match from the scratch it looks just perfect, with all the album art. But then after some days, album art begins to disappear...
Some of them come back when you open the album and close it again - some won't. And even if you got it back - it just disappears again!
Another very annoying bug ist, that albums get torn apart. I see too albums of some of mine and they both show a part of the original album. And it's definetly no an issue with bad ID3 Tags or somethin like that. It happens with purchased music from the iTunes Store too!
I really hoped Apple was going to fix this issues - i'm using it since day one, so almost a year now. And nothing changed!
I don't think I'm going to renew my subscription.

  • I can no longer change my song names like i used to. i use to be able to right click and go to "get info" and then change the song name, artist and album, now i can't is there any other way to change the songs name and info

When I get songs and put them on my itunes accout on my computer I used to be able to rename them right clicking, going to "get info" and then renaming everything I wanted like song name, album and artwork. I also use to be able to click on the song then click and hold on it and be able to rename it. But all the songs I have gotten after the last update have not been able to be renamed in any of the old ways I use to be able to. Is there any other way to rename songs because I know I can't undo updates and that seems to be whats causing it.
    Thankyou for your time

  • Organizing albums and artwork

Hello.. I'm having trouble organizing my songs which are part of an album in iTunes. In the new grid album view of iTunes 8.0, I have all my songs appearing separately even though they are part of the same album and have the same artwork.
For example, there are 15 songs under Ministry of Sound and each appears as stand alone album containing one song each. It looks very disorganized since there are now 15 albums containing one song when it should be 1 album containing the 15 songs! And this is across my iTunes library and I've tried to drag and drop them into one but its not possible for some vague reason. Can anyone please tell me how to resolve this?
    Thank you.

Hi, your MoS album is a compilation. Select all the tracks, press CMD-I to open the Get Info box. On the Info tab enter *Various Artists* as the Album Artist and on the Options tab set Part of a compilation to Yes. You should also set the iTunes Advanced Preference *Group compliations when browsing*.
See below for an extensive list of iTunes organisation issues & workarounds.
    *Grouping tracks into albums*
The iPod (and iTunes to a lesser extent) conflates two or more albums with the same title, most obviously with *Greatest Hits*. On the iPod this can result in one album acting as a combination of two or more. Selecting any cover gives all the tracks of all albums with the same title. The workaround for this "Greatest Hits" bug is to give each album a unique title - I tend to go for *Album - Album Artist* as this reads clearly in the iTunes browser. Alternatively you could use the wording as it appears on the cover, append different numbers of spaces for each different album or set different values for the Sort Album.
iTunes relies on the Gracenote CDDB database when identifying CD's. This often marks collections or anthologies of an artist's work as a compilation. In iTunes, however, the compilation flag has the logical function of grouping together tracks with the same album name, but different artists on each track, e.g. "Now That's What I Call Metal 666!". These compilations are then all grouped together at the end of cover flow. Most of us however, would expect "Greatest Hits" albums to be listed with the other albums by the same album artist. For albums which are essentially by a single album artist or group it is best to set the appropriate value for the album artist and clear the compilation flag.
Sadly the iPod ignores the Album Artist field when grouping albums which causes problems when some tracks list guest artists. You can simply mark the entire album as a compilation which seems to be the way iTMS handles it, however that's not an ideal fix. Short of waiting for Apple to address this issue (and as far as I can tell it goes back to the 1st gen. of iPods) we need a workaround. What I do is to put any additional artist info. in square brackets after the song name. E.g. *Track \[Feat. Guest\]* and then set *Artist=Album Artist* for each track. For anthologies where the Album Artist is credited as part of another group, e.g. for Cream tracks on an Eric Clapton anthology, I use *Track \[As Group\]*. For a track where the main Album Artist doesn't receive a credit, e.g. the first track of the Slim Shady LP credited to Jeff Bass, I just set the track name to *Track \[Guest\]* while still setting the artist to the album artist. N.b. I use square brackets to indicate this is information about the track rather than part of the song title and also use this style for Mix/Live/Bonus info.
iTunes may split albums into two or more sections if some tracks from the album have different values for Artist, Album Artist, Album, No. of Discs or Part of a Compilation. Tiny differences such as trailing spaces, accented characters or variants of symbols can sometimes be quite hard to spot. The iPod is also more sensitive to case variations and may split or reorder an album that looks okay in iTunes. Normally overtyping the desired value for each shared field will complete the grouping of the album into one entity. Occasionally, however, this method seems to fail. When this happens I've found that you can force every field to update properly by adding some extra text - e.g. a trailing X, which once applied seems to complete the joining of the tracks into one album. Once this has happened the extra data can be removed and the album should remain properly grouped.
The Sort Artist, Sort Album & Sort Album Artist fields can be used to override the normal sort order. For example iTunes automatically drops leading prepositions (a/an/the) so "The Beatles" are arranged under "B" instead of "T". Occasionally different tracks from the same album can have different values in these sort fields which can also break up the grouping. Making the sort columns visible in iTunes can help with spotting & correcting such problems.
Multi-disc albums are often listed as *Album (CD1)* for CD 1, *Album (CD2)* for CD 2 etc. To display these properly using just one cover, each disc should have the correct *Disc X of Y* values set, and then the entire album should be given the single title Album. Being somewhat obsessive I also renumber the tracks sequentially, working backwards from the last track until I reach disc 1.
With classical music you also need to be wary of alternative representations of artist/composers names. The menus will work best if for each composer you standardise on just one form of their name. E.g. make a choice between Mozart, W.A. Mozart or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and then apply it consistently. I tend also to use the Composer as the Artist & Album Artist and either discard performer details or place these into the Description field. (I’d use Comments but iTunes has a habit of writing long hex strings into it for no readily apparent reason).
