Flipping channel outp

Hi people, I need some help with configuring my speaker setup.
I am using a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy ().
I have Windows XP Professional (fully up to date incl. SP2 & latest patches).
I am using the original drivers that came with the audio card (looked for newer drivers once but couldn't find them so figured there aren't any).
I have got a quadrophonic speaker setup:
- 2 front speakers connected to the green line-out
- 2 rear speakers connected to the black rear-out
I tested the setup in Creative HQ, but it appears my rear speakers are not set up propperly.
I get the rear-left audio from the rear-right and vise versa.
Due to the design of my speakers ( main speaker with annother speaker attached to it by a cable) I can't (read as: rather not) switch the speakers around.
I believe there was a way to flip the channel output to reverse the effect of me setting the speakers up incorrectly, but I can't find it.
Does anybody know where I can do that?
Thanks in advance,

If you have the THX console, I believe the Calibration lets you identify (and assign) speakers. In Speaker Settings, Calibration lets you identify speaker location, but I don't think (not sure) that it makes those identifications permanent. Sorry, I haven't run into this problem and don't have an Audigy , so that's all I can offer.

  • Channel 575 (in MD & VA)

    I noticed while flipping channels tonight that channel 575 (CSN+ HD) is now the Comcast Network HD, while 334 is the SD feed. Not that there is a whole lot to watch, but it's better than the floating Comcast Sportsnet logo when there are no live games. Nothing is in the program guide other than the the live games at this point.

    I guess I spoke too soon. Now the channel is showing test patters and goofy clips of commercials along with still pictures of CSN commercials. For a little while, there was a lone camera angle of one person on a CSN Philly talk show with audio from only the left speaker.

  • Frustrated - Multiple issues with Fios TV/DVR - need advice on dealing with tech support

    I have been a Verizon Fios customer since Feb. 20th (all of two and a half weeks).  I signed up for my bundle on-line around 11am on the 20th, and had a technician out for install within a few hours on the SAME day.  I thought that was impressive - and I was looking forward to having a more reliable and fast internet connection than I had been experiencing with Brighthouse.
    The technician who installed was very friendly, and although he had some issues (apparently, there was a Verizon box in this house before us, but someone ripped it off the wall, so they had to run new wire all the way out to the street) the install went pretty quickly and smoothly.
    The first few days went along without a problem, and the internet was great.  Some of the functionality of the DVR was less than I'd hoped for, but some of the other features were great.  I had a glitch trying to set up my online account, but I used the online chat feature to work with tech support and she was able to correct the issue.  We noticed a couple times in the evenings that the TV would pixelate - but it only happened a few times and was very brief.
    On Sunday the 26th, our real issues started.  The live TV started freezing, then having a liquid-like pixelation problem, sometimes no sound.  We tried to watch a recorded show from our DVR list and received error messages stating that we didn't have DVR.  We called Verizon tech support and a very rude person reset the box several times and apparently even reinitialized the box and the result was that the box wouldn't even turn on anymore.  He said that he'd have a new box shipped out to us and that it would arrive by Tuesday or Wednesday.  My husband got on the phone at that point and suggested to him that since we were brand new customers (less than a week) and that since we had service installed on the very same day that we ordered it online, that certainly they could have someone bring us a new box on Monday morning.  The technician told us that he would transfer us to the billing department because we could probably just cancel the service.  We were both dumbfounded.  Especially considering that he had been rude from the minute he took our call, and while we were obviously frustrated, we were never rude.  We were eventually transferred to someone in billing who said she had never heard of such a thing and that she could not help us unless we wanted to cancel.  While this was going on, I had unplugged the box again, let it sit for several minutes, then plugged it back in - and the tv worked.  And the DVR worked. We assumed that maybe something the tech support guy did had worked after all.  Well, it worked until the next morning.  We had error messages saying we had no DVR.  A reboot of the box worked again.  After work, in the evening, it turned out that scheduled shows didn't record.  So, we called tech support again and asked for our new box.  We were told we'd have it by Thursday.
    New box arrived Thursday and we set it up that evening.  Went through trying to get all of our recordings set up again and finally sat down to watch tv.  I switched to Showtime (which we are subscribed to in our package) and received an error that the channel was not available, press B to troubleshoot or call tech support with this code.  Pressed B, went through the steps and the channel came back.  Then, proceeded on to HBO, also part of our subscription - and we received the same error.  We pressed B and this time going through the steps did NOT correct - so we called tech support.  After working with the girl for over an hour, she finally determined that we needed to be switched to billing to have them remove our HBO package and then put it back on and that should correct the problem.  So, while we were waiting for billing to come on the line, we started flipping channels again.  Now, channels that had previously worked were now showing the error that the channel was unavailable - even non HD, non premium channels.  When the billing girl got on the phone, she said there was really nothing she could do with that being the case and that downgrading our package and re-upgrading it would do nothing - that we needed technical support.  She got us on the line with a different tech support person who said that we were obviously having signal related issues and that we needed a tech to come out to look at the wiring.  He scheduled an appointment for us for Friday.  That call took over 2 hours.
    On Friday, the tech came out and spent time checking all of the wires coming in to the house - he said we had multiple splitters on lines that didn't need splitters and that this was likely causing a signal disruption and was probably the cause of the failure on both boxes.  He removed some of the splitters and apparently streamlined some of the wiring.  We still had the original box and the new box.  He hooked up each box and they both worked - all of our premium channels worked, DVR was good, etc. We boxed up the old box to send back, kept the new box and had tv that worked just fine for a few hours... then we started having the channel not available issues again.  And, now - we were also getting messages saying that we weren't subscribed to a channel - and this would range from HBO all the way to a non HD standard tv channel.  A reboot will work and restore function - for a while.  However - scheduled shows aren't recording - or record for 7 seconds and stop.  Or record for a while, then have a 20 minute gap in the middle where it's frozen, etc.  This has been going on since a few hours after the technician left Friday evening.  And, I have to say - when the tech left Friday - everhything seemed fine.  He had tested the signal strength - seemed completely thorough and was very nice.  I don't think he could have known, at that time, that the problem wasn't fixed.
    We have not called back to tech support yet.  We're busy with our work and our lives and we're also frustrated.  I know it will take another several hours and don't have much faith that there is any resolution.  It seems to me that we probably need the whole house completely rewired - brand new - start over.  I'm thinking there's a bad wire in there somewhere.
    This morning with my coffee before work, I tried to watch a tv show in my DVR list that apparently didn't record properly - no surprise (it froze and skipped over half the show).  So, I went to On Demand and found the show. (Without Bay News 9, I'm kind of lost with morning coffee, so I need a show of some kind)  It started to play and was going along just fine, till I received a CableCARD  (tm) Pairing Information is not available message.  I tried the auto fix in the menu, rebooted, etc.  It worked for a few minutes, then stopped again.  At one point, I got an error saying the set top box lost video due to a network connection failure.  Great, does that mean my internet is going bad too?? While looking around in the menu function, I clicked on the self diagnostics feature.  It filled in all the information, as I'd seen it do before - except when it got to the package description.  This time, instead of Ultimate HD, HBO, VOD, etc., etc (like I'd seen before). it told me that my package is: Arabic, Armenian, ART (Arabic), Extreme HD, HBO, Prime & Ultimate HD, Prime HD, RA, RAI (Italian), etc., etc.  Huh???  Really???
    So, I'm not sure now what the deal is - would a signal issue cause my subscription package to change?  Do I get on the phone with someone at tech support for another few hours?  Are they going to send yet another box?  Are they going to come re-wire the whole house?  Is it worth it?  This is really ridiculous.  Do I cancel and go back to Brighthouse with my tail between my legs?  At least with them, I knew that my internet connection would be wicked slow at certain times of the day, but at least I knew it was coming and could expect it - and I could at least count on my tv and dvr recording my shows.
    When I logged into verizon to vent on this forum, my account said that it was unable to access my DVR.  When I clicked on manage my DVR, it just says Bad Gateway.  Not a great start to our relationship, Verizon.
    I really need some advice.  Should I stay or should I go?  And, if I stay - what is the best way for me to explain this to tech support so they will do the right thing and fix this?  And, what is "this" anyway?  Bad box, bad wiring?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • File Writing - Missing some files without any error

    I am executing the following code:
    String message = XMLHelper.getDocumentXML(_doc);
         File outFile = getFile();
         RandomAccessFile raf = new RandomAccessFile(outFile, "rw");
         FileChannel channel = raf.getChannel();

         buf.clear();
         buf.put(message.getBytes());
         buf.flip();
         channel.write(buf);
         channel.close();
         raf.close();
    This code is in a loop and it must write a lot of files. I am trying with 426 but thje problem i have is that many times i do get 425 files insted of 426 or some other times i do get 425 files. No error or exception is thrown. Other times id do get my 426 files.
    The problem increase when i process like 50000 files, the quantity it is supposed to treat.
    Please can any body tell me what happen with the missing files? How can i detect what is happening?
    Thank you very much to any one who can help me with this extrange error

    Hard to tell based on the info you supplied. How are you generating filenames? Are you accidently writing over an existing ouput file? Can you post more code, speciifcally the loop code around the code below?

    I am not sure I understand what is happening for you. When I change channels, I get what I would call a "channel information screen" or "info bar" that covers approximately the bottom 1/3 of the picture? Is that what you are referring to? If so, that is the one item in the new IMG that really bothers me, it is too large and it stays on the screen too long, about 10 seconds. The only "solution", at least for now, is to hit the Exit button on the remote if you can't stand to wait the full 10 seconds. A pain, but I have sort of adapted to it, and generally now just let it display unless I am looking at a football game or something with action or info at the bottom of the screen that I really want to see.
    I am hoping that Verizon will introduce in the next level of the IMG an option for us to set how long the info bar displays, with one option being Off.
    If what you are seeing is something different, please give us a more complete description of what it is.

  • Can't connect to my Time Capsule!!

    My Time Capsule was working perfectly except it wouldn't let me back my data up to it, so I reboot it and now the backups work. However, now another problem presented itself. It won't let my WiFi devices connect to it. It's name appears and disappears on the Available WiFi Networks list and doesn't give the devices enough time to connect to it before disappearing from the list. My MacBook and iMac connect to it almost every time but the iPhones won't. I tried rebooting it one more time to see if maybe the problem would get fixed then, and it didn't. I need to know what to do ASAP. I can't access the internet from my mobile devices in my own home, that's a big problem since I don't have unlimited 3G! HELP.

    Are you on Mountain Lion?
    I recommend using 5.6 utility even if you have to jig it as it will not load straight into ML.. it is actually compatible.. first thing I got ML on a MBP just recently was to load 5.6 utility.. you simply unpkg the dmg file you download.. and drag the actual utility into the correct directory. There are plenty of posts .. just google.
    Lock the TC to use channel 1, 6, or 11 at 2.4ghz. The phones seem very sensitive to flipping channels.
    With the 5.6 utility you have much more control over the TC.
    Of course if you still run Lion on either computer then just load it.

  • NIO Network File Transfer Seriously Underperforming

    I've written a networked collaboration tool that implements client/server file transfer, and exhausted every NIO I/O option I can think of, yet my file transfers continue to run quite slowly on a 100-BT LAN.
    All SocketChannels are set to NON-BLOCKING mode. I started with FIleChannels and ByteBuffers using the following server code:
    // file transfer is running in its own thread
    File = new File(filePath);
    RandomAccessFile inputFile = new RandomAccessFile(file, "r");
    FileChannel fileChannel = inputFile.getChannel();
    ByteBuffer bb = ByteBuffer.allocateDirect(8192);
    int bytesRead = 0;
    while( fileChannel.read(bb) != -1 ){
         bb.flip();
         channel.write(bb);   // channel is the client SocketChannel
         bb.compact();
         Thread.sleep(20);
    }The client side code is basically the same. This implementation transfers to the client at about 500k/second. Next I tried using a MappedByteBuffer to map the file into memory on the server:
    File = new File(filePath);
    RandomAccessFile inputFile = new RandomAccessFile(file, "r");
    FileChannel fileChannel = inputFile.getChannel();
    MappedByteBuffer mbb = fileChannel.map(FileChannel.MapMode.READ_ONLY, 0, fileChannel.size());
    while( mbb.remaining() > 0 ){
         channel.write(mbb);   // channel is the client SocketChannel
         Thread.sleep(20);
    }The MappedByteBuffer actually works quickly, but only for small files. I can transfer an MP3 file in less than one second. This is the kind of performance I'm looking for. I can get 100-BT speeds on 10 or 20MB files. However, if I attempt to transfer a large file (500MB) using this method, I get the following exception calling channel.write(mbb):
    java.io.IOException: An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full
    I'm assuming this is because the call is attempting to write far too many bytes to the client SocketChannel, but I thought SocketChannel.write() would only write as many bytes as possible to a non-blocking SocketChannel, so I'm a bit confused as to why it would overflow the SocketChannel's buffer.
    I tried one more implementation, using FileChannel.transferFrom and TransferTo. Here's the code on the server side:
    File = new File(filePath);
    RandomAccessFile inputFile = new RandomAccessFile(file, "r");
    FileChannel fileChannel = inputFile.getChannel();
    long written = 0;
    long fileSize = fileChannel.size();
    while( (written += fileChannel.transferTo(written, 8192, channel)) < fileSize ){
         Thread.sleep(20);
    }This performs slightly faster than the first implementation using FileChannel and ByteBuffer, but only by 1MB/second or so on LAN. I changed the code to
    fileChannel.transferTo(written, fileSize, channel)But I get the same exception during runtime:
    java.io.IOException: An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full
    So... I'm lost as to how to get acceptable LAN performance on a network file transfer. If the MappedByteBuffer implementation didn't throw an exception, then I'd be set. But I have no idea what is causing the exception and cannot locate any information on it.
    Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

    A point of interest? When you tried the
    fileChannel.transferTo(written, fileSize, channel)
    and got the IOException (buffer too small etc) where you using non-blocking IO? If so try it with the Socket
    Channel set to Blocking mode (might help to narrow down the problem)
    Also have you checked the CPU usage of your program when its transfering data?
    as pkwooster said it could also be an issue with diskIO. There are many free apps on the net that will
    measure the throughput your hardisk can sustain.

  • VIVO Fullscreen

    Hi,
    I posted 3 times  :O on the forum with no reply. So I hope you can give me some help.
    I have a Ti4200 8x VIVO (VTD8X 8894). What I bought the card for was to be able play my playstation on my monitor fullscreen, as I have no room for a TV. I am sure a lot of people have wanted to do this too.
    The bundled Winproducer lets me 'preview' the video in a small window.
    I am using WinXp pro. How can I achieve what I want to do without forking out for a fully fledged TV card?
    Many thanks!
    to Deathstalker for reading it.

    Yakult,
    I do not mind reading it, but I am no help on this one. I have heard of people wanting to do this, but I have not seen anyone post that they got it working.
    The Screensavers had something on how to do it, but I do not remember. I was flipping channels at the time.  From their Shownotes in Oct. 2000:
    Quote
    Play station to computer monitor?
    Billy from Texas wants to know if he can connect his PlayStation to his computer monitor. Sure. You could use a video capture card (such as an ATI All In Wonder) and display it through a window on your desktop. Or you could use a product like the VGA Theater (approximately $200). It has a built in tuner, and turns any VGA (or better) computer monitor into a TV. I believe it also offers a input port for a VCR, DVD or video game.
    Now there is this, but I do not know anything about it or the company selling it:
     Sagestar (formerly Redant) Playstation / Playstation 2 VGA box converter
    Good Luck,

  • Watch Live TV and Sports On DX?

    Is there an app or a way to do this?

    You won't be able to find a better solution than slingbox.  If you want to watch live tv then get one.  It is the same experience as flipping channels on your home TV except on a smaller screen.
    It's just the cost of the slingbox and software and then it's free from that point on.  Make use of your unlimited data.  I know I am.  I'm trying to go for some type of record for data use.
    Really though, you will not find a better solution.  VCAST is no good.  And those websites that everyone else was talking about are terrible as well.
    I have a summer job at a verizon store.  On downtime all I do is watch recorded TV or live games.   Now I am starting back to school and I won't have as much free time on my hands to rack up data usage

  • DatagramChannel I/O

    I have the following code and I can't figure out why it's looping out of control. If it only reads messages sent to it, it's fine and works as it should. If you try to write to the channel after reading, it goes into an infinite loop and doesn't stop. Anyone see something wrong with my code? I can't figure it out.
        ByteBuffer send = ByteBuffer.allocate(10);
        send.put((byte)'G');
        send.put((byte)'O');
        send.put((byte)'T');

        send.put((byte)'M');
        send.put((byte)'S');
        send.put((byte)'G');
        send.flip();
        //Allocate buffers
        ByteBuffer dst = ByteBuffer.allocateDirect(100);
        CharBuffer charBuffer = CharBuffer.allocate(100);

        InetSocketAddress isA = new InetSocketAddress(InetAddress.getByName("0.0.0.0"),4162);
        socket.bind(isA);

                dst.clear();
                SocketAddress a = dChannel.receive(dst);

                dst.flip(); //Make buffer readable
                System.out.println("\n");
                for(int i=0; i < dst.limit(); i++ ){
                  System.out.print((char)dst.get(i));
                send.flip();
                channel.send(send,new InetSocketAddress(InetAddress.getByName("192.168.1.255"),4162));
                send.rewind();

  • Smart TVs get smarter: LG LF6300 Series HDTVs Exclusively at Best Buy

    TVs are getting smarter and can do more for us, but now there’s a TV you can talk to?! LG’s new LF6300 Smart TVs let you speak into your Magic Remote to flip channels, perform searches, or access the internet or any number of social media platforms or web content right on your TV.

    I also agree with Slim. I don't really feel for smart features in TVs.. All brands I've encountered with so far have flaws so I think it'd be pretty much the same even if you decide to go with Samsung. As for the remote, you can't please everybody. You should just take some time and get used to the remote. Re-aligning the remote is really not much hassle and it's much faster to type with it than the standard button remotes. and I don't understand how the 3D depth control made you nearly throw up.. Just adjust it to the setting that makes you not throw up.

  • Two questions about the methods in InputStream class.

    1, close() method
    the API says when the method is invoked, the input stream and its associateive channels are closed to release system resources.
    What does it mean by "associative channels"?
    2, read(byte[] b) method
    the API says it reads b bytes of data and returns b.length as an Integer, however, I dont think what can this method do, because unlike normal read(), which returns the actual byte of data read, but returns the no of byte read, which I cant find a way to mainpulate with the data read.
    Any help??
    please help
    thanks

    while(true){
    int lim = in.read(bufferArray);
    if(lim == -1)break;
    buffer.limit(lim);
    buffer.flip();
    channel.write(buffer);
    buffer.clear();
    while (true)
    int lim = in.read(buffer);//No such method in InputStream
    if (lim < 0) break;
    buffer.flip();
    channel.write(buffer);
    buffer.compact();
    My guess is that you didnt read my original post properly. The variable in is an InputStream and it doesnt have a read method that takes a ByteBuffer as an argument.
    In my code I am using a byte array, which is backed by the buffer, I dont believe that when writing to this byte array , the InputStream will try to update the internal accounting system of the buffer, thats why I have done this manually by setting the limit of the buffer (the number of bytes actually read are set as the limit).
    Correct me if I am a wrong thanks for your feedback .

  • Controlling sending rate over UDP socket

    Hello,
    After some NIO study, i finally managed to send and receive UDP data from a single thread. Here is my code
    so far:
    try {
          DatagramChannel channel = DatagramChannel.open();

    Right now, the thread is sending at full speed.
    I would like to know how i can control the sending rate ?
    I would like to be able to specify a given rate like 50 packets per second, 100 packets per seconds...?
    Of course i can always slow down the sending part by adding Thread.sleep(someValue) before or after sending..
    but this way i am not sure what is the real rate achieved.
    any advises would be welcome.
    thanks

    hi
    thanks for your reply.
    I have some difficulties calculating the amount of time i need to sleep to achieve a proper sending speed.
    basically it takes 16ms to send 20 requests so 1250req/s. Hoe can i regulate this accurately.
    I added this kind of code in my sending part: Every 50 requests i execute this code.For some reason i get a divided by zero exception at the line marked in bold.
    it happens at the second execution of this code.
         if(count == 50){
                  count = 0;
                  elapsedTime = System.currentTimeMillis() - startTime;
                  System.out.println(elapsedTime);
                  *sendingRate = (50 * 1000) / elapsedTime;*
                  System.out.println("sending at:" + sendingRate + " req/s");
                  if(sendingRate > speed){
                    long diff = sendingRate - speed;
                    long sleepTime = (diff * elapsedTime) / 50;
                    try {
                      Thread.sleep(sleepTime);
                    } catch (InterruptedException e) {
          }any comments are welcome
    thanks

  • Can I "delete" channels so I don't have to flip through them?

    On Comcast I could delete certain channels from my line up - like all the news, religious and foreign-language stations.  Verizon has 10x more of these channels and sometimes I just like to flip through the channels.
    Is there a way to delete them so I never have to see them?  I can't find an answer in the user guide.
    Thanks!

    Like I said in my reply (above your post) - you can't delete anything from the guide (i.e.. Can't show only subscribed).  The only method is to use favorites (although not reliable to hold your selections) and use "flip by favorites" and there is a guide option to display only favorites.  The latter has a flaw in that the guide no longer wraps around (goes to the lowest channel from the highest channel or vice versa).

  • Flipping audio channels on timeline

    i recorded a number of audio tracks that i need to flip.
    i recorded my good shotgun mike on channel 1 and the camera mike on channel 2. channel 2 has noise i want to eliminate.
    when i imported to fcp, i imported as stero pairs and i would prefer not to have to re-import all those clips as separate channels.
    i would like to eliminate channel 2 and pan channel 1 to both channels.
    so in essence, with one clip, in the viewer window i want channel 1 on top and channel 2 on bottom. then if i dupicate the clip and put it underneath the first clip in the timeline, in the viewer window, i want channel 2 on top and channel 1 on bottom.
    i somehow managed to accomplish this yesterday when i was folling around and trying things, but i don't remember how i did it and now i can't repeat it.
    so how do i do this please?
    thanks
    carl

    Select the clip in the Timeline and unlink it from the video clip. Next, if the two audio tracks are a stereo pair, change that by going to Modify->Stereo Pair. Once each audio clip can be selected separately, delete the channel 2 clip. Double click the channel one clip and change the pan setting to 0.
    Or, load the clip from the Browser into the Viewer. Set the Timeline target tracks for only the channel you want (plus video if you want that also).
