Float drop when I switch column order

I would like my main content column to load before columns 3
and 4, which have external content that is sometimes slow to load
(Flickr, Twitter, Furl).
http://www.patiastephens.com/new/
But when I move the main content column above columns 3 and 4
in the source code, columns 3 and 4 drop below the main column.
It's very frustrating! Any ideas?
Thanks.

Still really need help with this.
Is there anything I can do to make my question more
understandable, like pasting code here?

  • Why does my ssh tunnel drop when I switch on a system wide proxy

    The subject says pretty clearly what is puzzling me. After I establish a connection via ssh and initiate a tunnel for email access through a corporate firewall (using Apple Mail as the client and POP3 for the protocol), I find that enabling a system wide proxy (socks5, http, and https) via the same ssh tunnel causes the email to stop working. Upon switching, the http proxy (Safari) works fine -- e.g. the tunnel is healthy. This confuses me. The ssh link which hosts several tunnels is fine. I am forwarding local port 10025 and 10110 on the tunnel to a mail server behind the firewall. The socks5 proxy and http proxy are running on local ports 11080, 18080, and 18080, respectively. Why is Apple mail paying attention to the proxy settings at all? It would seem that since Apple Mail makes no attempt to connect (via the Activity window) that the link is dead, however, turning off the proxy brings the email tunnel back to normal. Wierd. Any advice? This is running on a normal 10.4 (not server), but I don't think there are any significant differences in behavior. I asked on the networking discussion, but got no response.

    Two things jump into my mind: poor WiFi signal strength on the desktop PC or a dirty OS installation on the desktop PC. I'm quite sure that this has nothing to do with the cisco VPN client itself.
    Assuming that you reach your remote workspace through the cisco VPN client it might also be that the remote part (the VPN concentrator) gets congested and drops your connection but than other employees would complain as well (can be checked with your ICT guys).
    The thing is: when you lose Internet connection on your laptop while surfing a web site and connection comes back again within no time you won't notice anything. If the same happens to a system constantly receiving encrypted packets and some are missing the VPN client will drop the connection. Completely different protocols (http/ipsec) that are differently prone to packet drops...

    When I switch my time capsule to 5.0ghz mode the range of my wireless network drops significantly.  Near the Time Capsule my Macbook Pro works fine, in my bedroom I have almost no signal.  In mixed mode it works fine both placed.  Any ideas on how to get 5.0 working?  I thought 5.0Ghz was supposed to have a wider range.  Do I need to change a setting on the Macbook Pro?
    Thanks, W

    I'm not sure if you understand that 5 GHz has some upsides, but also some very significant downsides.
    The upside is that the 5 GHz signal will allow faster speeds.
    The downside is that you must always give up something in order to gain something else.Unfortunately, the marketing hype about 5 GHz does not go into very many details about this.
    In the case of 5 GHz, the 5 GHz signals are much weaker than 2.4 GHz signals, so they do not travel as far or penetrate any obstructions like walls or ceilings nearly as well as 2.4 GHz signals. In many cases, in order to get good 5 Ghz performance, you literally have to have almost a line-of-sight relationship between your computer and the wireless router.
    If you have a new dual band router, which broadcasts both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signal simutaneously, your Mac will connect to the best signal quality automatically depending on its location in relation to the router. In the same room, without any obstructions, it will connec to 5 GHz. But, take the laptop down the hall a few rooms and around the corner and the Mac will connect to the 2.4 GHz signal because at that location, the 2.4 GHz signal is not only stronger, it is also faster.

  • Table Column Ordering Matters when using Forms6i

    Just an FYI on something strange that we encountered...
    We have a Forms application that calls a function within a Package stored in the database. The only parameter to the function is a PL/SQL record that is based on the columns of a table. Our users need to run the application against 2 different database instances. We receve an "ORA-04062: Signature of Package has changed" error message when running the Form against the database that we DID NOT compile the form against. The reason is because the column ordering of the table that the record is based upon is different between the 2 databases.
    Here are the details:
    Setup:
         2 different databases. ( devDB and prdDB )
         1 table:
              On devDB:
                   create table test_file (file_id NUMBER,
    description VARCHAR2(256)
              Same table on prdDB but with different column ordering:
                   create table test_file (description VARCHAR2(256),
    file_id NUMBER
         1 database package in both databases:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE PS_TEST AS
         SUBTYPE tr_file IS TEST_FILE%ROWTYPE;
         FUNCTION Create_File( r_file     tr_file ) RETURN NUMBER;
    END PS_TEST;
         1 Oracle Form that fills the tr_file record with data and calls PS_TEST.Create_File passing in the tr_file record.
    Results:
         If the above Form is compiled on the database devDB, trying to run the Forms Executable against prdDB will generate an error message stating: ORA-04062: Signature of Package has changed. If the above Forms executable is run against devDB, everything works fine. The problem is that when the Oracle form is compiled it apparently captures the tr_file signature from the package, which would be something like ( file_id, description ) on devDB since it is specified as %ROWTYPE. When this compiled form is ran against the prdDB database, the package signature is different because the tr_file signature would be something like ( description, file_id ) on prdDB because of the column ordering. The error doesn't occur if you recreate the "devDB" table with the columns in the same order as "prdDB". This would only be a problem with using the %ROWTYPE with PL/SQL records.
    So it appears that column ordering does matter in some situations.
    Thanks.

    would create a cell renderer only once -- the same
    JTextPane is used to render any cell in the table that
    shares the same renderer.Thanks for the reply. It's something I'm going to look into, but I do create only one renderer, and use that one renderer to create new JTextPane subclasses when getCellRendererComponent() is called - hence, there is one renderer, but there are multiple instances of the actual rendered component.
    In the meantime, I'm just marking up the text with HTML to create the presentation I want, and it works okay. It'd be nice if I can get it working with Styles, though.
    Thanks again,
    - Chris

  • Label colors are more vibrant when you switch to column view

    Mayby I am too picky but I noticed that *label colors are more vibrant when you switch to column view*. I guess label colors should always look the same on matter what view you are on.

    ThisisGrey,
    You can also by choose a different color profile in System Preferences...>Displays>Color>Display Profile: Uncheck "Show profiles for this display only," and experiment with a different profile. I personally had the most success with using the "Calibrate..." selection and creating a user calibrated profile for my screen.
    ;~)

    Ipad2: When I switch Wifi on, no available networks are listed. In the column on the left it still says Wifi 'off'. The icon WIFI is grey. When I leave this screen, the button WIFI on the right side automatically switches off. Everything used to work fine.

    I already have, I contacted Orange yesterday and they said I will receive a text to confirm the registrastion for my new SIM Card, they said the text would arrive between 2 and 24 hours and its been over 24 hours with no text recieved

  • With multiple inboxes, when I switch from one to another the inbox view is at the top rather than where I was when I switched to the other. This is new.

    One inbox is a pop inbox with many messages in it. The other is an imap inbox. If I am working at say, message 2000, in the pop inbox, then switch to the imap inbox, and later switch back to the pop inbox, the inbox view is inconsistent. If there is a new message in the pop inbox when I switch back, the view starts with the newest messages including the new message. If I switch to the imap inbox and no more messages arrive in the pop inbox while I am working the imap inbox, when I switch back to the pop inbox the view starts at the oldest message (in my case #1 of 4900 - requiring a long scroll to get to the newest messages). This behavior is new in the version I am using (24.6.0) on a Mac (10.9.3) so apparently an update changed it. I'd like to always return to the bottom (newest) message when switching to the pop inbox, so if there is a preference setting for that, please let me know, I couldn't find one. Otherwise please fix it.

    The first part of this response is regarding the volumn of emails int he Inbox folder. I'm writting about this (although it is not your query) because I would not like to think you could lose all your emails.
    I would strongly recommend that you do not save all of your pop emails in the Inbox folder, as it is designed to be an Inbox for incoming mail and not a general store.
    You may see a folder in the FolderPane, but in reality your emails are stored in mbox files. Emails are downloaded and stored one after the other in the order downloaded. So, at this moment, you have one single mbox text File with all of your Inbox emails written one after the other into a single document.
    Recommend you create some folders and manage your emails.
    After sorting them out, you could compact the Inbox to remove any 'marked as deleted' emails.
    When you delete an email, from your point of view it goes from Inbox to Trash. In reality it is still in the Inbox, 'marked as deleted', so it is still using space. When you compact your Inbox it removes those 'marked as deleted' emails.
    If any corruption occurs in that file eg; TB cannot detect the end of a 'marked as deleted' email, then it may end up deleting a load of emails.
    So I would not compact (a task that should be done on a regular basis) until you have organised your emails into other folders:
    See info on how to maintain a healthy Thunderbird and compacting - why it is so important.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keep_it_working_-_Thunderbird
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Compacting_folders
    '''Re; List of emails - view the recent incoming mail.'''
    I would advise you have the most recent at the top, then you do not need to scroll. This option works in much better way for instantly locating new mail.
    Click on the 'Date' column header to reverse the order.
    or View > Sort by > Date and descending

  • CSS Float Drop in IE8 but not Compatibility Mode

    I'm testing code for my home page across different browsers, and encountered the common IE float drop problem.  This does not occur in Firefox, Chrome, Opera, or IE8 in Compatibility Mode; but does occur in IE8 standard mode.  It's a bit confusing, since I usually encounter this problem in Compatibility Mode.
    I have tried using clear:none; as I thought the content was clearing the float:left of a large flash image on the left side of the window, but it didn't solve the problem.  I have 3 image buttons whose combined heights equate that of the flash image (all 622px), and these are all in a column div floating to the right.  All of these are flush margin:0 and padding:0, border:none.  The flash image has it's own class stating margin:0, padding:0, border:none as well.  These divs are fixed pixel widths and heights.  I tried placing them in a larger container div with fixed width and height, which didn't solve the problem.  Again, this only occurs in IE8 Compatibility Mode.
    This is the code below:
    div id="container">
    embed src="index.swf" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="622" width="509" align="left" class="flashhome"> /embed>
    div id="homecontright">
      a href="services.html?panel=5">
      img src="button1.gif" align="top" border="0" alt="b1" class="imageright"/> /a>
      a href="smt.html">
       img src="button2.gif" align="top" border="0" alt="b2" class="imageright"/> /a>
       a href="jobs.html">
       img src="button3" align="top" border="0" alt="b3" class="imageright"/> /a>
    /div>
      div class="floatfix"> /div>
       div id="foot" align="center">
       contact info footer
       /div>
       /div>
    Here is the style information from my separate stylesheet
    #homecontright { margin:0; padding:0; border:none; width:493px; height:622px; overflow:visible; float:right; display:block; }
    .imageright {margin-left: auto; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; display: block; float: right }
    .flashhome { width:509px; height:622px; margin:0; padding:0; float:left; border:none; }
    div#container { margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; margin-bottom:0; width:1002px; background-color:#A8CBE9; }
    div#foot {      background-color:#003366;      border-color:#a8cbe9;      border-width:thin;      border-style:solid;      font-size:10px;      width:996px;      padding:0.2em;      margin-left:auto;     margin-right:auto;      text-align:center;      font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;      font-weight:bold;      color:#FFFFFF;      height:10px; }
    .floatfix { clear:both; }
    I've tried removing all the floats, even, especially the ones in the nested divs/class elements; but this didn't do a thing.  This leads me to wonder if this really is a float drop problem or am I missing something?
    EDIT: I fail at posting code so I've removed the front bracket from all tags.  Also, added a diagram to show what it's supposed to look like and what is happening in IE 8 Compatibility.  The margins do not exist, they are there so you can see individual elements

    I tried adjusting the images on the right -10px and had the same result.  Those images were actually created with margins within the image, so everything should be flush.
    I noticed, however, that even in browsers where everything aligns correctly, there seems to be a 2-3px jog between the flash image and the buttons on the right.  That strange link to the bottom right of the flash image is still appearing as well, somehow having to do with the top banner image when right clicked.  I tried changing the URL of that banner and the link changed as well, confirming my suspicion that they're linked.  I attempted to contain that image in a fixed width div with no results.  This link does not appear in other browsers, nor does it appear on any other pages that I used that code on.
    Code for my banner:
    <...a href="index.html"><img src="index/accuweb_c3homebannerR1a.jpg" alt="banner" border="0" class="banner"/><.../a>

  • CentOS based linux VM running on Hyper-v : Checking root filesystem fails when kernel switches having old PV(para virtualised driver based on 2.6.32 linux kernel) to new PV(which is equivalent to linux integration component 3.4)

    hi all,
    I am running a CentOS base VM on top of Hyper-V server. I upgraded PV drivers of Hyper-V in linux kernel 2.6.32 in order to support
    Windows Server 2012, then i am hitting below issue on Windows Server 2008 when kernel switches from old PV(which is 2.6.32 based) to new PV(which is equivalent to linux integration component 3.4).i
    am hitting following filesystem check error messages :
    Setting hostname hostname:
    Checking root filesystem
    fsck.ext3/dev/hda2:
    The superblock could not be read or does not describe correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
    filesystem(and not swap or ufs or something else),then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
    e2fsck -b 8193 <device>
    : No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/hda2
    *** An error occurred during the filesystem check.
    *** Dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot
    *** When you leave the shell.
    Also, when I go to the repair filesystem mode. I found out the strange behaviour when i ran those command :
    (Repair filesytem) 1 # mount
    /dev/hda2 on / type ext3 (rw)
    proc on /proc type proc (rw)
    (Repair filesystem) 1# cat /etc/mtab

    proc /proc proc rw 0 0
    (Repair filesystem) 1# df

    /dev/hda2 4%
    I think for all above command there should be /dev/sda2 instead of /dev/hda2.
    Also my fstab , and fdisk -l looks like ok for me.

  • Design a single template for multiple reports with different column order

    Hi,
    I need to migrate the existing reports from SQL Server Reporting Services to Crystal Report 2008, and the column order in the report is very important to the clients since clients have existing code to ingest these reports into their database. Now I want to create a single template with lot of parameters for all reports. My question is how I might use one template to create multiple reports with different column orders in the reports?
    For example, client A has the following column order in their report: firstName, LastName, DateBirth, SSN. Client B has the following column order in their report: SSN, DateBirth, LastName, FirstName. Can I use one template to create these multiple reports?
    Thanks in advance.

    -As I mentioned you can find Template Field object in Insert menu of crystal report Designer 2008.
    As soon as you select Template Field object you will be able to see a box beside ur mouse cursor. Drag and drop this box at required place. Now when you place this object in report you will get some thing like this "<TemplateField1>" listed under Formula Fields tree. Double click "<TemplateField1>" formula to add your conditions.
    -I have not tested it for large amount of Customers. However as the number of customer increases the number of conditions will get increased.
    For the customer that want the same ordering of columns you can put those customers under one condition.
        for Example...
              if(?Client in ['clientA','clientA']) then
                        <TableName>.<Field>......
    -What do you mean be 40 columns? Do you mean 40 fields or you want to show 40 columns in report? Please elaborate.

    Amrita

  • EA2 - strange column order in "Columns" tab

    Hi,
    when I click on a table in the left panel, I'd expect the columns in the "Columns" tab appear in the same order as the table has been defined (i.e. ordered by column id). But instead the columns are ordered by primary key. Of course I can doubleclick the column id heading to get the correct order, but when I switch to another table the columns are again sorted by primary key.
    If I didn't miss a preference, I'd suggest to change this behaviour to column id sorting by default.

    Sorry I missed that. Here's the query we use on that:
    with pri_cols as ( SELECT cols.column_name column_name, cols.position column_position
                                                           FROM all_constraints cons, all_cons_columns cols
                                                           WHERE cons.constraint_type = 'P'
                                                           AND cons.constraint_name = cols.constraint_name
                                                           AND cons.owner = cols.owner
                                                           and cols.table_name = :OBJECT_NAME
                                                           and cons.owner = :OBJECT_OWNER
                                                           ORDER BY cols.table_name, cols.position )
    select c.column_name, case when data_type = 'CHAR' then data_type||'('||c.char_length||decode(char_used,'B',' BYTE','C',' CHAR',null)||')'
                                       when data_type = 'VARCHAR' then data_type||'('||c.char_length||decode(char_used,'B',' BYTE','C',' CHAR',null)||')'
                                       when data_type = 'VARCHAR2' then data_type||'('||c.char_length||decode(char_used,'B',' BYTE','C',' CHAR',null)||')'
                                       when data_type = 'NCHAR' then data_type||'('||c.char_length||decode(char_used,'B',' BYTE','C',' CHAR',null)||')'
                                       when data_type = 'NUMBER' then
                                                 case when c.data_precision is null then 'NUMBER'

    and c.column_name = com.column_name
    order by sub.column_position nulls last,column_id
    It's supposed to place the pk columns in order followed by the other columns by column_id.

    hi guys I deleted my extension"bitdefender antivirus"but when I switch on my mac safari open up itself asking to instal the extension above what can I do to avoid this pain in the behind?Thanks

    Uninstall "BitDefender" completely, not just the Safari extension.
    Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
    Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
    I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
    Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
    Back up all data before making any changes.
    You will generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, the uninstallation may have no effect, or unpredictable effects.
    If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
    WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

  • Yes, it's IE float drop again

    I have read the messages here until my head is spinning. I
    cannot detect
    an underlying principle that one can refer to when trying to
    prevent
    this from happening in every case--it seems so situation
    dependent. Or
    what I have read is over my head.
    I'm getting it at all of the pages of this site:
    http://www.eastbranch.net/process.html
    Al of the pages use the same underlying structure, so I'm
    hoping that if
    I fix it for one I can fix it for all.
    It doesn't happen in any Macintosh browser. If the page is
    too wide--and
    it almost always is--I get a horizontal scrollbar. I know.
    Client
    insists. He doesn't mind the horizontal scrolbar for people
    who don't
    use huge windows like he does, but I think the float drop is
    a more
    serious problem and I need to fix it.
    Can someone point me to a resource, ideally titled
    "Preventing IE float
    drop--every time--for dummies."

    Sorry James,
    I didn't look at it very well. Actually, I didn't even check
    in FF, that's
    why I was suggesting to use "overflow-x" ;-).
    It turns out that indeed there are maths errors.
    An easy way to find out about this kind of issue is to open
    firebug and to
    click on the "layout" tab.
    There you can see that:
    - #pageWrapper width is: 915px
    - #leftWrapper width is: 70 + 478 + 15 (563px)
    - #rightWrapper width is: 463px
    So to avoid a float drop you would have to set the width of
    #pageWrapper to
    be at least 1026px
    To contain everything within 915px you need to reduce by a
    total of 111px
    the inner containers (width or padding will do).
    As a side note I would *remove* the table you're using for
    the thumbnails as
    these are easily styled without the need of so much markup
    (which also allow
    for more flexibility - showing them on 3 columns instead of 4
    for example).

  • How to change line item column order in FV50

    Hi,
    I need to change the line item column order in GL document entry screen. I tried drag and drop but it didn't work for all the columns. Is there a setting I can change for all the users?
    Thanks for the help.

    It does not work for all the column, but those columns that you can change can be fixed. First change the column to the desired sequence, then click on small icon at the right end of the column. When you take the cursor over that corner icon, it displays "configuration".
    There, give a zname and enable set as default. and save.

    Much appreciated Joe, I'll look to cleaning it up and
    streamlining it as you
