Floating inspector window?

What happened to the floating inspector window?  Is there anyway to get this feature back in the latest Pages?

Because Pages 5 was knocked up in great haste and they have appalling or no Quality Control.
The new design fashion at Apple is to get rid of floating Inspectors and imitate Windows instead.
They don't seem to have anyone independently checking their work. I found it within minutes of opening Pages 5.
Apple likes to spring its surprises on its users, unfinished, document trashing, bugs and all.

  • Where is the inspector window in the new pages 5.0?

I am having a serious problem trying to manage this new version of Pages. Something that I simply loved in the old version was the Inspector Window that just vanished. How can I have it back or how can I return to the old version? Is that possible?

It's gone- one of many features stripped out in this new version.  Best bet is to continue to use Pages 09 from a previous save of your Doc- I hope you kept a backup becuase not everyone's having great luck "exportings as 4.3" to get the old version of a document back.
FYI, the old Pages remains in the iWork Folder in your Applications Folder.

  • Pages '09: The inspector window doesn't open any more - no idea why

Don't know what and when something went wrong. But I can't open the inspector window anylonger. Any idea?

Usually the problem is that the Inspector window is hiding under something else, such as a Help window.

  • Is there a way to open an image in a floating, resizable window?

In previous versions of PDE I could open an image (or for that matter, multiple images) as floating, resizable windows.  Now, images seem anchored.  How can I detact them from the big editing screen, such that I can move them around the computer screen as I could in the past?
    Thanks,
    Haly2k1

Open Editor and click Edit à Preferences à General
Then check the box “Allow Floating Documents in Full Edit Mode”

  • How to remove the "Image Mask" labels under the effects tab in the Inspector window

I'm still trying to find my way round Final Cut Pro X after using Final Cut Express for many years. I don't know how I have manage to finish up with two Image Masks being set under the effects tab in the Inspector window. The Image Mask effects are not active (the box adjacent to the label is not blue) How can I remove the Image Mask label from the Effects tab in the Inspector window?
    Thanks JohnH

  • Video effects (none button) does not exist in inspector window

New to iMovie 09.  Only issue I am having so far is finding the video effects.  I select a clip and then open the inspector window.   But when I click on "Clip", there is no "None" button to open the effects window.  It only shows some info on "Stabilizatoin".  Nothing else.  Under the "Video" button are the exposure and color adjustments, etc.
I am sure I am overlooking something simple, but I have read through all documentation and this forum and nothing seems to be working.  I have set "Show Advanced Options" from preferences.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated !

If you select the clip then hit Letter "i" for Inspector, you'll get a window that roughly looks like this (bottom half is missing because clipped it off). What you are most interested in clicking on is the Video Effect: pulldown menu. When you click on it, the Inspector flips around and gives you thumbnail images of all the video fx you can apply. I have iMovie '11, not '09 so your version might look slightly different.

  • Audio inspector windows lost

I lost my inspector windows for all of the apps. like audio, color, voice over. Can someone help me. I have a dual monitor setup and sometime the stupid thing stay on the other monitor even if I'm not plug into it WIERD! so I have to plug into the other monitor and then drag them over to the macbook screen and now there gone. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
I thing there like off of both the screens, but how can that be.

I am having the same issue with iMovie 7.1.1. I cannot see any of the editing palettes. When I switch to a different user account I can see the palettes so it is a vexing problem. I also use an external monitor with my 2.4 Ghz black Macbook and I thought the same as you in regard to the palette being on the external extended desktop, but for the life of me it will not appear. Frustrating.
Did you ever get the palettes back? I suppose I could reinstall iMovie but I wonder if there is a preference file somewhere that I could trash so the program could basically start over.

  • Keynote 09 Inspector Window Size

Is it possible to increase the size of the inspector window in Keynote. I have difficulty seeing details of animations when they preview.

You could try this freeware to see if it will work for you.....

  • Print Inspector Window?

Anyone know of a way to print the Inspector Window or export it to text?
    Thanks.

Anyone know of a way to print the Inspector Window or export it to text?
Data fields can be copied and pasted individualy. But it is much easier to simply screen capture the window itself as a PNG file and send/print the graphic image as a whole. To do this simply press the "Command-Shift-4" key combination followed by pressing the "Space Bar" to put you in the "Window" capture mode. Then move the cursor over the "Inspector" window and when it turns blue, just click the mouse. Default storage for the file is the Desktop and will be named "Picture #.png" where the # is a numeric suffix added when more than one "Picture.png" file exists.

  • Remove Effects from Inspector Window???

With a clip selected in the timeline, I played around with available effects but now my Inspector window is filled with lists of Effects, with some duplicated several times. I can remove the effects from the clip by deselecting the Effect header, but my question is, how can I remove the now disabled Effect header from the Inspector window because it's getting pretty cluttered?
    Thanks.

I was pressing the wrong Delete key
(and couldn't find a way to delete this post).

  • I can't open the inspector window in iMovie 11.

Hi everyone. I'm working on a project in iMovie 11 and suddenly I can't open the inspector window. I really can use some help. Maybe by mistake I hit a button. Thanks

Normally you open the inspector by clicking on the little gear icon in a clip. If that is not working, I would suggest...
    1) Shut down iMovie.
    2) Trash the iMovie Preferences. See this post for instructions.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4061
    3) If that still does not work, delete the iMovie App and reinstall from the App store.
    4) If that still does not work, reinstall OSX.

  • Make code inspector window independant?

Is there any way to toggle/switch the code inspector window
to be independant of the normal design page view (which might be in
design or code view)? To me this would seem to be one of the main
advantages of having a separate code inspector. i'd love to be able
to work on code in the head section of the page and see it's effect
at another part of the page in the design view. it would be best to
be able to turn this "tracking" on or off.
The other thing that's driving me crazy is for some reason
when working in some javascript in the head section of a page (in
the code inspector window again), whenever i hit "save" my position
jumps to somewhere in the middle of the page instead of keeping my
current position (where the cursor is). any insight
    somebody?

I doubt it, but you could keep a notepad window open.

  • Is there a way to show Custom message in Outlook Mail read Inspector Window same as When a File is opened in Protected View.

Is there a way to show Custom message in Outlook Mail read Inspector Window same as When a File is opened in Protected View.
If we open a Document from Untrusted location, the file is opened in Protected mode and a Red Message bar is shown below the ribbon for Excel,Word apps.
Can we show this type of similar message bar with custom Message in Outlook or any other Office App.

Are you displaying an MSG file? Keep in mind that Outlook creates a temporary copy in one of Outlook folders, so strictly speaking your are not looking at a file.

  • Inspector window doesn't appear

I suddenly find that the inspector window won't appear. Media, color & fonts windows are fine. Quitting Keynote, and restarting haven't helped.

Same problem here - the inspector is on the edge of the screen and I cannot move it back into view. Is reinstalling the only option? It seems like that is the #1 fix people give on these forums. Everyone knows reinstalling fixes things - the thing is most people don't want to reinstall.
So, how do you bring a window back into view?

  • Can we specify Font size in the Inspector window?

I am a whiz at MS Word. I'm totally lost in Pages. My current dilemma is how to specify the size of my text in the inspector window. Is it possible?
Currently, the only way I can change the font size is by clicking Format > Font > Show Fonts > and making the change in the new window. Is that the only way?
Sigh. Here's hoping I can figure out Pages soon or I'll be stuck in limbo, juggling both a PC and a Mac.

You might want to explore the keyboard shortcuts.
⌘ +T will show your fonts. (Lot easier than using the menu.)
I also changed the increase font size shortcut from ⌘ + and - to ⌘ + > or <, just like Appleworks. You can change the shortcuts using the keyboard system preference.
    <ol type=>
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Keyboard & Mouse.
    Click Keyboard Shortcuts.
To disable a shortcut, deselect the checkbox next to its description in the list.
To change the key combination for a shortcut, select the character in the Shortcut list. Type a new shortcut by holding down the key combination that you want to use instead.
Tip: You cannot use each type of key (for example, a letter key) more than once in a key combination.
Quit and restart any applications you are using for the new keyboard shortcut to take effect.
