Flush forum content

Hi,
When you create a category/forum/thread in Portal forums, they get an ID. E.g. the first forum you create gets forumID=1, the 3rd thread you create gets threadID=3.
In Development environment I would like to start over from the beginning. Deleting all content is not really the problem. But is there a way to reset all counters for ID's ?
Or is there maybe a way to flush all forum content?

How to display forum content in another web page

Hi,
Anybody has idea if the forum provides some API/ snippets which can be used to show the contents from forum (latest threads, announcements, polls) in a simple HTML page
The fields required from API to be displayed are:
Subject of the thread
Some starting content from the thread/ message
Date and time of the thread/ message
Forum name of the thread/ message
Author of the thread/ message
Link to the thread/ message in forum
This can some something similar what the RSS feed feature delivers.

Source is Lyris. Apparently something old, hosted by an external company. I have no idea whether that tool has export functionality.
Target: Jive Forums in portal
If it is not possible to import the data into Jive Forums we will try to import it in some other way in a repository so that TREX can search it.

Disappearing forum content on certain sites?

Hi!
Despite people telling me "Firefox is the best! Use Firefox!", I actually prefer Safari. But, there are forums I have come across on sites that will not display properly. I go to the site, hit the forums, click on a section, then click on a thread. The thread/page opens, loads, and all seems fine until it finishes loading and then POOF! Everything in the posts that was displayed is now gone. The post borders are there, the user names and all...just the post content is gone!
Here are two forums that do this for me:

Just click any thread, let it load, and watch the post content disappear.

Once again, click any thread, and as the posts load, the content is there...until it finishes, and then poof! Gone.
There are plenty more, and all of them work fine in Firefox. But, like I said...Safari is my choice. Is this a Safari flaw/bug? Can I do something to have them work properly? Or will I end up switching to Firefox?
Please help?
(oh- have not tried Safari 3 beta since the first run. Do not want to go thru that again until Leopard if I can avoid it, and not even sure f it hapens with Safari 3 as well. I did love the new S3 features tho...)

Hmmm - that happens to me as well! Never seen that before.
Presumably you have to register on those forums?
Or perhaps a cookie question?

How to flush JSP content from a portal class for initial content display?

Hello,
I have a JSP that is loaded from the JSR-168 portlet class. The JSP is used for doing a database search. As results come back, I want to flush the JspWriter ("out" variable) buffer so that partial results are displayed to the user as they come back.
The flushing of the content does not occur in this JSP. If, however, I launch a JSP page directly (not through the portlet class)in its own browser window, and the same code is run, the flushing occurs and I can get results displayed as they are returned.
There is something different in the JSP version that is loaded from the portlet class that is preventing the flushing from occurring.
This just may be an issue where the portal engine waits to display all content (to include my portlet) all at once.
Any thoughts? Is there another way to do this?

Some critics said that If you have CS4, there is no reason to update to CS5, unless you specific work will use the few new features constantly.
We have had the 64-Bit technology for years now, but Adobe is not good enough to take advantage of it. What is the point of having a great and fast computer when the program does not keep up? Is like having a Ferrari sitting in traffic.
We know that Adobe have not provided an update or patch for over 4 years. Which means, whatever you buy, it wont be fix. (Adobe did not fix the Memory Bug reported during the first week after its released)

Forum Content

Is it me or are the topics in here getting more and more away from Logic? It strikes me that several things could be improved:
1/ People should maybe think about whether the Logic forum is the best place to post about more general Apple related questions, RAM/Hardrives/Processors etc. Obvioulsy this can relate to Logic but not always...
2/ There almost needs to be a third forum in here which is more 'General' audio tech questions - not strictly relating to Logic (third party issues etc).
3/ It seems some people aren't having Logic questions answered because everyone's more interested in moaning about iPhones in a different thread.
4/ You should all start paying me for these helpful suggestions I'm making
Anyway, anyone else agree with this? Or not? I don't know I really should have better things to think about...

Logic is so Big it integrates with loads of things,
So to cover all of Logic Integrations is Quite BIG!

Apple has over 16 Machine that Logic runs on,
so everyone has a different problem!

however how is it people gonna know what's what!

It is displaying the following message:
No search results for "vendor". You should try a less restrictive search.
I could not even search "Vendor".
What might be the reason, i have been facing through yesterday.

Apparently the search indexes are corrupted.... and the SDN developers are fixing them now. Until then, please use the main SDN search (upper left corner of the page) as advised in the thread.

How do you find what you posted to the support forum?

Last night I posted a question about Firefox being unable to load certain https URLs, but now I can't find it. I would like to be able to find it to see if anyone has made any helpful replies. In the forum settings, I have the following checkboxes:
Watch forum threads I start:
Watch forum threads I comment in:
Watch KB discussion threads I start:
Watch KB discussion threads I comment in:
Send emails for private messages:
All of the above settings are checked, but I can't find where in the interface for these forums I should go to view the threads and comments that I am "watching."
I will bookmark this present support topic so that I can return to it later.

I think the fact that so many people use Firefox is really a testament to how bad the other software out there really is, not to how good the Firefox stuff is or how responsive the firefox people are... No, not a chance...
I mean, yes, I get that the link to the forums home page is always in the footer at the right, but come on, for crying out loud... so are stupid advertisements... it's a footer or side bar or whatever you want to call it... people are trained on a subconscious level, by now, to ignore that crap. If you were going to design a forum, would you take the most important links, and put them off to the side, where they are less likely to be noticed?

I mean, if you are a small time developer, with a few thousand users, you probably don't have the time or the resources to make something that's optimal... but when you have millions upon millions of users... optimizing your interface might be worth looking into.... you know... auditing the performance and effectiveness of your UI now and again might be a good idea... You take the few minutes that you waste a user with a confusing counter-intuitive non-standards-based interface, and you multiply that by millions of users, and what can I say... that's a *lot* of waste.
You don't even have an index of forum content... everything is found by searching... Imagine if you walked into a library, and they had NO catalog.. Instead, all books just tossed into a database, and the only way to find anything is by searching. That would be... just incredibly stupid.... That is what this forum interface is.

Forum in other languages

If I set the language on the main Adobe.com page to something other than English, the forum language also changes. I recently set it to French to look for a French helpx article, and some of the French forum content is displayed as garbage:
The red-circled part is incorrect (should be Était-ce utile), but other accented characters display correctly.
The forum encoding is set to UTF-8, so it doesn't seem to be an encoding problem.
This is not a single instance; I just changed the language to Spanish:

It almost seems to me that the UTF-8 content is not correcly decoded. But why only in that sentence...?
Interestingly, Japanese displays correctly:

I did not use that button because everytime I had used it in the past, it changed the language of all fixed text in the adobe.com site without producing any effect in the forums language. I have just made a few tests and the results were somewhat surprising.
If I change my region to the one called Latin America located under North America (only choice including my country, as South America only lists Brazil), or to Mexico, the text in the adobe.com site changes to Spanish, but there is no effect whatsoever in the forums, where all fixed text remains in English. However, if I choose España as my region, then the language change also affects the majority but not all of the fixed text of the forums. Here is an example:
I cannot say if this is new or has always been like this, because I had never had a reason for choosing Spain as my "region". All I can say is that there has never been a working way of changing the language in the forums for us "Latin Americans". And if I recall correctly, there have been complains about this from other "regions" as well.

Viewing Discussion Forum in public group space

Hi all,
I have the following requirement:
a) let anonymous users visit a group space and
b) let them view discussion forum content inside that space.
I can enter the group space as anonymous user, but the Discussions Forum portlet tells me I'm not authoritzed to view this portlet.
How can I make this work?

Write a dummy custom Identity Asserter/Authentication Provider and create a Weblogic subject for anonymous users so that weblogic knows that it is a authorized user and then it will let it do what a logged in user can do.

Does out.flush() work in a JSP page without buffering?

          I am using WLS 4.51 and have found that it is not possible to flush the contents
          of the ServletOutputStream. I have seen this behavior in JSPs and Servlets.
          What I am trying to achieve is a simple status message that is displayed on the
          client for a long running transaction.

You can use JSTL perfectly in ADF. I don't share the opinion of Oracle not recommends... there are a lot of official pages saying how to use JSTL in ADF.
<af:outputText value="#{fn:length(yourList)}"/>Yannick is saying that you can't mix lifecycles. Take care using $ or # operators :).
For example if you are using a JSTL c:forEach. Next code is going to crash:

</c:forEach>Because # is evaluated in prepareModel phase and $ while rendering.

We want to export our forum content with the XML Export function.

But when I export the forums seperatly there are only a few which throws this exception.
I looked up the usernames from the user who posted in this forums in the table JIVEUSER in the database. But they are all stored in it.
Can I look up somewhere the username, that isn't found?
Neither in the error log nor in the debug log I have found it.

The error is caused to an authentication failure and is not an issue with authorization
You need to look at your authentications policy (Policy->Authentications) and see which identity store was authenticated against
In addition can do the Live Authentications page (Monitor->Authentications) and for the failing record click on the icon under details. This will give you the full details of the requets processing and you can see which rule was matched in the identity policy (Identity Policy Matched Rule) and "Selected Identity Stores".
