[fluxbox-git] stopping randomly (un-solved)

Hi there.
I'm running Xorg 1.8 with fluxbox-git, and I don't know why, X sometimes shutdown...
In my Xorg.0.log, I've only these lines with (EE): http://pastebin.archlinux.fr/402529, I don't know where I can found answers.. Fluxbox hasn't got any log..

Yep, it's a bug introduced during the latest revisions. For me it would crash whenever I would go to full-screen with flash and shrink back down to normal (and only then). Took me awhile to figure out that it was Fluxbox causing this as it's always been pretty rock-stable for me. I'm using x86_64 now and since we don't have flash anymore I have been using the new git-version anyway (as it does fix some other annoying things).
Someone already filed a bug report concerning this.

The devs haven't made any new revisions in the last four weeks so this bug might be hanging around awhile. I would recommend to use fluxbox 1.1.1-1 from the Repos until they get this worked out (if ever?). If your familiar enough with git (I'm not) then I guess you could regress through the upstream commits until you find the one causing the issue but that would probably involve a lot of work.

We have a situation with 20 4410N's They are connected through a 2960 switch. They runned for about a year with no problems. We use the WiFi system with 10 cisco wireless ip phones, several workstations (5-10) and a few mobile devices.
Three weeks ago we took 10-15 iPads in commission (almost equally divided over the AP's), since then the trouble started. Several accesspoints stop randomly responding a few times a, day. We updated to the latest firmware (2.0.4.2), but that did not solve the problems.
Were using 3 SSID's WPA2 encryption and fixed IP's for the AP's. If there is anything more you need to know please contact me. This is a urgent problem for us! If we can't get a hold on this we have to replace all the AP's by other ones.

On January 25th Cisco released version 2.0.6.1. I have upgraded several units to this firmware and it has resolved the random not able to connect issue.
Try upgrading to that version, it is availble here:

If you still have the issue after upgrading, do a factory reset and manually reconfigure the device.
You also mentioned that you were using iPads. Sometimes Apple's devices have trouble with WPA2 AES, so you might want to try switching the encryption to WPA-Personal (TKIP), or WPA Mixed, so that TKIP is also available. Forget the wireless network on the iPad and then try reconnecting.
Usually the upgrade will resolve the issue, if not try the reset. If you are still having trouble after that call the SBSC at 1.866.606.1866 and we can open a support case for you.

It just says not connected, and as soon as it bails to menu, it connects again and will play for another minute before doing the same thing all over again.

Access Connections main service stops randomly

Hi all,
I have a T60 at work with the latest version of Access Connections. Over the last few weeks, my Access Connections will randomly show that it disconnects in my system tray. However, I am still connected to my company's network. Our tech group came out and said that they are seeing instances of the Access Connection Main service just stopping randomly. When I go into Services, I can verify that it has stopped. This happens anywhere from 20-60 mins after logging onto our network. It also only happens when I am docked to my docking station, not when I am wireless. If I have a tech remote into my machine and restart the service, it starts up just fine again.
Any thoughts as to what might be causing the service to stop like this? It doesn't present a problem if I stay docked...but if I undock and try to go wireless, it doesn't do the auto switching because it's frozen...so I always have to reboot.

in this situation make following:
- go to services and open Properties of both AC Services and in the Recovery tab set all 3 options to "Restart the Service"
- In case this should not change the situation, then go to "Log On" tab and select "This account" and insert your name and password.
In this situation would be also good to check the Event log if there is any notice, why the Service stopped working.
Any info is appreciated.

why does the recorder stops randomly during a recording? My previous NOkia 5800 Xpressmusic also had this problem. I never reach the maximum recording time of one hour. My mobile phone is lying next to me and not receiving any calls or messages, with 'silent' profile active.

Hi, I'm having some similar problems with mine also, i was having a look on line just now and came across the link below, infor on how to hard reset your nolia n97, I haven't tried it as of yet as mine works on and off, on at the moment, but if yours is completely kaput, it could be worth a try. :Audigy LS stops random and functions properly after rebootM I am on a P5P800 motherboard with a SB Audigy LS in PCI2, running Windows 7 Beta and using version 5.2..200 of the driver.
I had the same problem on Windows Vista (both before and afer SP):
? at irregular intervals the sound card stops working. Mediamonkey does not detect the SB speakers anymore and none of the other programs can get audio to play.
All it takes is a system-reboot.
I know there is a later version of the driver, at least drivermax tells me there is a newer version. Trying to install this newer version results in the blue screen.
Any ideas where to look for the solution: I am sure that the chipset drivers are fine and I also tried switching the sound-card in from PCI3 to PCI2.
Help is wellcome: it is annoying most to have no sound randomly !

Tried reseting the PRAM and that seemed to take care of the issue, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
Also noticed iTunes tracks playing in Spotify had the issue and it seemed to persist after the reset - I ended up unlinking Spotify from iTunes and now it seems to work again in Spotify as well.

IPod80GB stops randomly

My bloody iPod is stopping randomly, then the apple symbol appears for 30 seconds and then it reverts to the main menu. I guess it is reseting itself or something and it's driving me nuts. I have had it since Oct/06 and this problem may have started after I upgraded iTunes 7.5 but i'm not sure. I have also restored the bloody thing twice already. Could it be a battery issue? I often use the iPod in the car with an FM transmitter so it is always fully charged. Therefore I'm wondering if the battery is toast which is causing the problem.

I had the same problem with my 5G 30GB iPod, it would freeze in the middle of tracks and reset itself (funniest was when it reset itself WHILE it was resetting). I had to send mine to Apple, and they replaced it. I suggest you contact Apple and hopefully they'll do the same.

Videos Won't Play and Songs Stop Randomly

I added a video to my iPod, it will play on iTunes, but when I select it to play on my iPod, all I get is a black screen.
Also, with a few songs, even one that I downloaded from iTunes, they will stop randomly in the middle of the song and go on and play the next song.
I never had this song problem with my old, 1st generation nano.
What should I do?
Is it faulty? Should I return it back to the shop?

If you downloaded iOS 6 - YouTube is no longer included in the iOS.
If you are not running iOS 6 - go to Settings>General>Restrictions and see if you restricted YouTube.
If it isn't restricted.Swipe from screen to screen and look for it. If you still can't find it....
You can reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.
For the videos - quit the app completely and then restart the iPad and try again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or ... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or...Swipe to the right from your first home screen to get to the iPad Spotlight search. Type in the name of any of your movies in the field at the top. When the movie appears in the search - tap on it and it should start to play. Let it play for a minute or so - hit done - go back to videos app and see if all is OK.

Preview Songs Stops Randomly w/ Win 7 & Solutions Not Working

SInce the 10.6 itunes update I have had issue with preview songs stopping randomly after between 7-20 seconds. I have tried the recommended solutions on other posts to flush DNS cache files as well as repointing to open DNS server (8.8.8.8) to no avail. I can preview music on other sites, notably Amazon, and other devices in the house can preview songs in itunes without issue including iphone, ipad, and mac notebook. I am running WIndows 7 Home Deluxe version on Comcast gateway modem/router. Given other devices work with itunes I don't think this is a router issues, and since my computer can preview music on other sites I don't think it is my machine. I think there is an issue between Windows 7 and itunes that started with the 10.6 update. I am very frustrated. I have contact Apple Support via email with no reply. Even went to local Apple store and they hadn't heard of the issue and wanted me to bring in my computer. I am a cycle instructor and really depend on the preview song feature to find and purchase music and really need a solution. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you have a solution I would really appreciate a reply.

Doublechecking. Have you tried resetting your iTunes Store cache?
Go "Edit > Preferences". In the Advanced tab, click the "Reset cache" button shown in the following screenshot:
... and then click OK.
Restart your iTunes, and head back to the Store. Are you getting full previews now?

Synergy between two Arch systems. Stops working randomly. [SOLVED]

I have two PCs connected with a crossover ethernet cable. I use synergy to control them both (a laptop with two screens, a desktop with one screen).
I use Arch on my laptop and connect the mouse and keyboard to it. I start Synergy on the laptop by starting the daemon (/etc/rc.d/synergys start). When I boot Windows on the desktop, Synergy works just fine. If I use QuickSynergy on the desktop with Arch, the connection will start to randomly cut out. Sometimes after only putting the mouse to the desktop screen once, sometimes after a few minutes of use.
The only way to start it up again is to click Stop and Start on QuickSynergy. It won't usually last very long though before it cuts again.
I figured that an update may have caused the problem, so I've been waiting to see if it would get fixed, but it hasn't so far.
Any other ideas?

Well, today there is an update for filesystem package, and I have installed it by Pacman -Syu, but now when I am stopping PC, and it's going to stop filesystem daemon, appears this message:
umount: /dev device is busy
Before upgrading, it don't appear.
It's normal? Is there anyone who has the same problem?

White Macbook 2006 random shutdown solved removed cpu heatsink and more

I picked up a cheap macbook from a secondhand retailer for $300 and it regularly shutdown, froze, restarted as well as the grey kernel panic screen completely random no real pattern. I set about trying to solve the problem swapping ram and hard drive with my identical 2006 macbook (which I had similar problems with last year, fixed that one with a new battery connector cable). The ram and hard drive made no difference so I downloaded istat menus to see if any combination of cpu voltage, current and temperature were causing the random shutdowns. It seemed when the temperature reached certain values the computer would shutdown or freeze(around 30 to 50 degrees). I'd read on other forums about faulty cpu temperature diodes so I reapplied heatsink compound to the cpu heatsink and checked all the wiring for shorts but nothing seemed to solve the problem. I was ready to retire the computer and use it for spares for my other macbook when needed but I pulled the keyboard off one more time and tried something completely radical. This fix requires some forward planning and software installation but it has completely solved my Random shutdowns completely.

Ok this is not for the non technical person but it is quite a simple process with the right instructions.
This first step is very important install the software coolbook($10) and fan control (Free)( not smc fan control). Set up coolbook to operate the cpu at the lowest speed and voltage for both power adapter and battery(1002MHz and .95Volts). Remove the keyboard to access the computer logic board (instructions can be found at iFixit). Remove the four screws and two connectors holding the heatsink to the logicboard and gently lift the heatsink out (very important that you leave the fan screwed in and connected). Close the computer back up if you wish to test just gently connect the keyboard and loosly sit the keyboard back in. Restart and reset the pram immediately. Let the computer boot up and then open system preferences and configure Fan Control to your liking. So far no random shutdowns for over a week (was getting many a day previously.

How can I stop random audio advertising files from playing?

Recently, my Macbook Pro has been playing random audio files. They are mostly advertisments about mucus medicine and news clips about soccer. Yesterday, I discovered that when I quit Safari, the audio stops. Today the problem is back again. What can I do to get rid of these annoying ads?

Safari > Preferences > Security
Make sure that "Block pop-up windows" is enabled.
Temporarily disable the plug-ins
Safari > Preferences > Security > Web content: Enable plug-ins
If the audio is from Flash based ads it should stop.
Re-enable that feature later.
