FLV Audio Quality Drops when viewed online

I have a FLV playing in my SWF and when viewed locally in Flash or just in the Flash player by clicking the file on my desktop the file plays fine with decent quality audio.
However as soon as I upload the file to my website the audio quality seems to drop.
The difference is quite noticeable, is there any reason for this?

No it just lowers in quality. It plays fine though no stuttering.
When I play in Flash its fine but when I play over the web in sounds really tinny and poor quality.
This site is using the same FLV as mine, I know because I've downloaded it from their website and there's sounds fine, this is how mine sounds in Flash.

Framerate drops when viewed online

I made a simple text animation in Flash for an HTML intro
page. The
framerate was at 40 fps but when the client viewed it he
asked if it could
be a little faster. So I just increased the framerate to 60
fps and it
looked fine in Flash. I took it into Dreamweaver and dropped
it in a blank
HTML page and it looks right when you preview it inside of
Dreamweaver via
the properties panel. When I uploaded the files to a server
to view on the
internet the framerate drops. I tried pushing the framerate
to 80 fps and
the animation played faster after uploading to a server, but
it still wasn't
80 fps. Any ideas why this is happening?

First, you can't guarantee the frame rate in Flash. It's all
dependent upon several factors, the main one being the ability of
the viewer's computer's processor to handle it. You almost never
get a consistent frame rate in any Flash animation.
Second, SWFs almost always play slower when placed in an HTML
file. Don't ask me why. I don't know.
Finally, taking into account that you're asking a computer to
do all that processing, increasing frame rate to 80 actually SLOWS
the playback. You're telling the processor to do 80 changes per
second rather than, say 20. It's a lot more work for the processor,
even if it's only text. 80 is way overkill. The fastest framerate
that is used is rarely more than 60, and that's nearly always in
files that are light on graphics and using lots of scripting. 15 to
30 fps is more the normal range for most web animations. Some claim
31 is ideal. There is a lot of divided opinion on what is "best".
Try it out. I wouldn't be surprised if you decrease the frame
rate to 20, it will play back faster on your client's computer than
the 80 fps version. He may have an older computer that has 50
things multitasking at once.

Audio quality degraded when imprting FLV file to Flash FLA

Hi,
I have created a FLV file using Adobe Media Encoder CS5.
I have played it back on Several Media players and it sound fine.
I import it into a Scene in Flash CS5 aand when I preview the Scene the audio has degraded and sounds terrible.
The audio is mono at 48 kbps.
I cannot find any controls or options to edit the audio of the video.
I have rendered it out several times using different settings but it alway plays back the same highly compressed tinny sound.
Any advise?

Video quality dropping when saving in Imovie08

I've recently bought a Canon Hv30 Videocamera, and when recording in 25p and normal mode, It looks really good when i load it in to Imovie08, but when the movie is finished at I convert it to a quicktime file, the quality drops considerably.
Do I need some codecs or a better program?

In the "Export using QuickTime" window, there is an options button next to the pull-down menu ("Movie to QuickTime movie") at the bottom. After you click on it, click on the Video button and you can set the compression level for your finished movie. No compression will mean the sharpest picture but also the largest file size.

DMA 2100 - Audio Quality problems when playing mp3 or wma files

I recently purchased a DMA 2100 - two weeks ago.
Plays my streamed DVDs (VOB files) along with streamed video off the internet wonderfully. I'm impressed that it actually seems to upscale my DVDs and the Audio quality is perfect.
But when I try to play a simple mp3 or wma file I experience pops, clicks and short dropouts during playback.
Obviously my network is more then sufficient to push DVDs across reliably it should be able to push mp3s/wma files. Network performance monitor shows me in the low end of HDTV capable and stable. MP3s and WMAs are stored on the same disk as my DVD VOB files hence I don't expect there is a problem with my media center PC serving them. (PIII 3.0GHz, 2.5GBs, 2TB RAID 5 SATA Array)/ I was experiencing some problems with playback on my PC but that was resolved by upgrading the drivers for my audio card SB Audigly 2
Any ideas?

Looking further into this I also notice that my Media Center PCs processor is running all out 70%-100% processor utilization when streaming the MP3s or WMA files.
Meanwhile when streaming DVDs the processor is at a rather lazy 10% or so.
Anyone, any ideas why when Streaming DVDs my audio would be perfect and processor idle.... but when streaming WMAs my processor is pegged and the audio pops and crackels as it plays?

Photo quality worse when viewed on a PC -- why?

I'm experiencing a strange issue with some photos that I've touched up in iPhoto. When viewing the photos in iPhoto, they look fine. When exported into a different folder and viewed in Preview, they look fine. But later on I tried opening up the same exported files (jpeg's) on a PC, and some of them looked horrible. Some were horrendously noisy. Some had colors that seemed off. Some were far too sharp (I was playing around with the sharpness adjuster in iPhoto).
Has anyone experienced this issue before, and does anyone know why this happened? I plan on simply going back and toning down some of my edits/adjustments, but I'd like to know if there's an explanation for this.
One odd thing I noticed just now is that when opening some of these "bad" jpegs in Preview, for a split second, the photos look like they did on my PC. For example, I could see the pixel noise in one of them for a split second... similar to the way iPhoto first displays a blurry enlargement when double clicking on a photo. It almost seems like Preview and iPhoto are self-correcting bad images for display. Thoughts?

The primary cause of the misalignment is the fact the text is using a "Web Safe" font. A "web safe" font is not a single font. Rather it's a list/stack of fonts for the site visitor's browser to try until it finds one that's available the visitor's computer. That means on one computer the text is in one font (i.e. Arial) and on another computer it's another (i.e. Helvetica) with the subsequent fallout caused by the varying character widths between the two fonts. The best way to reduce this variation between site viewers is to use a Web Font (either an Edge Web Font or a Self-Hosted Web Font).
The alignment still won't be entirely consistent across browsers (or even versions of browsers), because each browser has it's own text layout engine and the engines do sometime change, but the variation will be radically reduced.

When viewing online videos (news, sports etc) the audio is totally out of sync.

I use three emails (gmail, comcast and juno) and when I click on anything that has a video, the audio is out of sync with the video. I originally thought it was only Comcast.net news but their techs have not been able to improve matters. So I ran tests on the others and found they had similar problems. Cursory checks of my PC, Acer HD monitor and my two small speakers didn't reveal anything. That doesn't leave much other than Fire Fox.

If this were a project that I was involved in, I would recapture the media at the correct frame rate and rebuild the sequences correctly.
Moving from production, to post production, to delivery is a series of steps, and the success of any particular step is based on having all the preceding steps done correctly.
Shortcuts and workarounds tend to create awkward and difficult problems, that often only surface late in the process.

Why does my audio quality drop big time when I use the compressor to compress my final cut studio project?

When I'm working on a project, my audio sounds great but once I put my project though the compressor it looses it's volume big time when I play the DVD on a DVD player or computer. Where does the problem lie? How do I maintain the smae quailty of audio on the finished DVD?

You'll need to duplicate the Dolby Digital preset then alter the duplicate so that the DialNorm setting is -31dbfs and the Compression is set to NONE. Use the new, custom preset to create an ac3 file with the same output levels you had in your FCP Sequence.

Slight Color and Quality Shift when viewing RAW files for first time in Library Module.

I have been shooting RAW for a while and have notice that after I import the images and then start to view them in the Library Module I will see a slight color and quality shift - almost looks like a white balance shift but not quite.   I was thinking that perhaps there was some automatic preset being applied but I don't have any presets at all.
I am shooting with a Canon 1DX as well as 7D. I have not checked to see if I get this situation with the 7D, but I know for sure that I get it with the 1DX.
Today I was reviewing some images in Bridge and decided to open one of them in Camera RAW.   At that time I discovered that the camera's Image Style Settings were available, Faithful, Standard, Portrait, etc. I noticed that the images did not have one of the camera styles applied to them but rather the Adobe Standard Style. At that point from within RAW I selected one of the camera's styles and bingo thats the kind of shift I am seeing when I first view an image in LR4 Library.
So as far as I can tell the RAW images are getting the Adobe Standard style applied in LR.   I have no idea if this is a default behavior of if I have done something to cause it. I'm also thinking that perhaps LR does not necessarily apply the Camera's Styles automatically even though the particular style has been set in the camera -- perhaps is not imported as part of the metadata during the import and thus defaults to the Adobe Standard.
I guess what I need to know is a few things and I hope someone can educate this newbie!
1. Should I expect LR4 to apply the Style as set from the camera automatically or not at all?
2. Can I prevent LR from applying the Adobe Standard Style and apply no style?
3. Can I cause LR to apply the Style as set in the camera for the particular image to be appied automatically upon import?

That sort of describes it and may be exactly what is happening. I have a shoot tonight and will pay closer attention to the process and behavior when I import.
It is the full image that I see the shift on though. Its not that the thumbnail and the full size image look different. It the full size image looking one way and then shifting in front of my eyes.
What is frustrating is that I typically find that the image before the shift is better than what appears after the shift, so I find myself always chasing to get back to where it was and because its gone I'm chasing an invisible ideal, so to speak.   Ahhh...isnt that the life of a photographer though!
It seems like its the last step in the render process -- if I could just figure out what it is and stop it I could finally figure out if I really care or not. Its just so quick its tough to tell if indeed the first appearance is better.
I'll feedback some more information when I get a better handle on this.

Slow/Choppy SWF Animation When View Online

When I view an swf file from my hard drive, the animation is
smooth and snappy (a good thing). After I publish the file and view
it online (with the same computer), sometimes it is noticeably
slower and choppy. I don't know a great deal about what
Flash/IE/Firefox does behind the scene, but I can't seem to make
sense out of this. When using a preloader (at least the one I'm
using), doesn't the entire flash file become cached and essentially
stored on the user's hard drive before playback? In which case, I
would think the animation would perform equally. Maybe I'm
completely off-base with this, though. Could anybody tell me the
cause for poor online animation and clear this issue up for me so I
could try to fix it? Thanks a lot.

One thing you might wish to try is to edit the animation
properties, click the Options tab and enable the
"Synchronize with project" check box.
I'm not 100% sure that will help, but might be worth trying.

Photographs blurred when viewed online in iWeb '08

I am trying to use iWeb '08 to post a very simple photo viewing website using my MobileMe account. The pictures are SRGB JPG images, and imported to iWeb from iPhoto.
When I view the pictures online they are very blurred and distorted - I have never had a problem with this before, until about a month ago. Unfortunately the fact that my website is not displaying properly is losing me sales!
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

Why does jpeg quality drop when converted to a symbol

I created some nice compressed jpgs and imported them into Flash Pro CS4. When I place them on the stage and they get converted into a symbol the quality visibly drops, as apparently Flash is further compressing them. Is there any way to turn this behaviour off. They don't need any further compression.

I was creating the side by sides to publish, as you suggested, when I noticed that just by dragging the jpgs to the stage that the damage had apparently already been done ie that the bitmap on the stage looked worse than the preview (when set to about the same size). I then began to wonder if the preview was somehow slightly softening the image and making it appear to have less atrifacts. I looked at the bitmap on the stage side by side with the jpeg in Ps and could see no difference. So it seems that the preview may look better with highly compressed images than the actual jpeg and that the problem is only apparent. Thanks for your help in bringing it to light.

Mac/Browser crashes when viewing online videos (any browser)

I've had this problem for a little while, and I'm not sure what exactly it is. Sometimes when I view a video online, whether it's Flash or Silverlight, Hulu or Netflix, the video will crash. Sometimes it's just the video, other times it's the browser, and other time it's my Mac. I've tried this on Chrome, Firefox and Safari, and it happens on all three. I thought it might be a video card issue, but I can play that are on a drive fine, and it doesn't happen when I'm editing video with Adobe Premiere.
Any suggestions?

Render quality drops when importing sequences from Premiere Pro CS4

Hello,
I have both AE and Premiere Pro CS4, and, because my Media Encoder doesn't work (a common problem, apparently), I import my sequences into AE to render. However, I've noticed a marked drop in quality in the sequence when imported into AE as opposed to when it's in Premiere Pro. It's comparable to a "Full" dropping to a "Half" when changing preview render quality in AE. What am I doing wrong? Is there some simple way to match the quality of the AE Comp (that has the PP sequence in it) to what the original Premiere Pro project has? Should I not be putting the PP project into a new comp in AE before I render it out? Is there another way that can retain the quality of the original Premiere Pro project?
This is urgent, as I need this rendered by Monday. Any help would be appreciated! Obviously, this is the first major project I've done this "workaround" with. I wish AME worked, but it doesn't for me.

By default, the Ram preiew resolution is adaptative and not full quality, as it's just to "preview". You can switch this behavior to full quality, and by default, when you render, it will always be "Full quality" before being compressed by your output module.
You can check the Ram preview doc and the rendering doc from the AE help.

FLV audio keeps playing when navigating to different frame or moveclip

Hello
Scenario is as follow :
1. I have a swf contains a FLV paly back component playing a movie .I have used flash cs4 import movie tool to create it. Name of the files are >movie1.swf movie2.swf
2. In the main movie I have a movie clip which loads the movie1.swf and it start playing .Now user can move from move1 to movie2 by clicking a button
However when I click to view second movie sound of the first movie is still playing .Even if I click to go back to movie1 another sound will be playing and a big mess.
Methods I tried :
     removeChild didn't work.
     myLoader.unLoad() didn't work.
     SoundMixer.stopAll() stop all the sounds in the whole swf. Not a solution.
Any solution to this?
Should I write my own movie player for this .I found it real painful to use FLV playback component.
I am really fed up with this...!!!

The best solution for this is to force the user to stop the flv from playing .The best thing about this method is that , it is clean and I do not use SoundMixer.stopAll() which is not a good solution at all.
Here is a simple way:
I create movieclip callled flv1 and import FLVPlayback component on the flv1 ,I name it flvPlayer
I add a button and name it close ,
I create a movie clip with a larg box in it and I add it to flv1 as a background.This background movie clip stops access to any othe button and menues and user has to click close button only.In this case on close button I stop the flv and exit:

     flvPlayer.source="http:.//www.example.com/video/flv_1.flv";
     flvPlayer.setSize(300,300);
     flvPlayer.play();
     close_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,closePlayer);

          flvPlayer.stop();//Here I stop it
          gotoAndPlay("exit");// here I exit
No I can create flv2, 3, etc.. and load diffrent flv sources and using a menu I can go diffrent frame without that annoying sounds playing on background.
