FLV creation

So Adobe has stopped supporting their own format FLV in Media Encoder now in 2014.

So how do I export my video reference FLV out of Premiere Pro (using Media Encoder) and bring into Flash Pro and place it on the timeline now? You guys basically just broke the entire workflows.

You posted to the wrong forum for Yosemite. If you are running Yosemite, the operating system in your signature, numerous FLV players exist for Mac OS X on the Mac App Store. Usually any Adobe Flash Player enabled web browser should be able to open the FLV file. Quicktime Player does not do Flash. There are converters to MPEG-4 formats which Quicktime can handle. Mac OS X 10.3.x and earlier, the forum you posted to can only run older versions of Flash, and can't run on the MacBook Air. If you intent to play the FLV file on your 10.3 machine, convert it to MPEG-1 first on the MacBook Air, and then it should work on your 10.3 machine. Mind you MPEG-1 files tend to be very large and take a long time to convert to. Using Sorenson compression if possible can help for those older Macs.

Transparent flv creation plug in

Hi Guys
I am looking to find a plug in or stand alone application
that will allow you to take a series of images such as Targa files
with alpha channel and then create an flv with a transparent
background. I have used Adobe After effects in the past which is
great but its a very expensive package to buy when all i really
want it for is making transparent flvs.
Does anyone know any other programs or plugins?

"Offline" Recordings Not Full Length. Why? HELP!!!!

I produce webinars, record them all, and then make an OFFLINE VERSION (downloaded to my computer) that I burn to DVD. This has always been flawless in the past. However, now, my OFFLINE RECORDINGS show meetings that are only 16 minutes 40 seconds in length, when in fact they are 2 hours long. The original recordings are the correct length when you view them online. Something seems to go wrong with Adobe's system when it goes through the "make offline" process. I'm on a Mac running 10.7.5 (Lion) and have been using Safari & RealPlayer. Adobe claims to have fixed the file, but the file itself was never the problem....I have multiple downloads of different meetings now all weighing in at 16:40.
At first I thought maybe the glitch was from webinars recorded in Connect 8 but made offline after migration to Connect 9. So I tried "making offline" versions of a meeting recorded natively in 9, but had the same result. I've tried meetings that have been edited, meetings that are in their original form, everything I can think of to pinpoint or troubleshoot. Tried using a player besides RealPlayer to determine if that's the weak link. Tried playing the resulting burned DVD files in different computers with different operating systems.....there is no consistent fix.
Anyone else have this "make offline" glitch? It's driving me crazy.

Contact Support and let them know you are having the issue with the offline FLV creation. You are not alone, this has been brought up here as well, Adobe Connect User Community
If all you need is the audio, then you can pull down the source files for the recording by adding /output/yourfilename.zip?download=zip to your recording URL. There you will find one of two files, depending on how the audio was recorded.
XXXXX.mp3 - If you used just telephone audio, you should find an MP3 file of the audio.
cameraVoip_X.flv - If you used just VoIP, Universal Voice audio, or blended phone and VoIP audio you will need to extract the audio from this file. I use FLV to MP3, a free program, but there are plenty of tools out there to extract the audio.
Once you have you audio you can use your tool of choice to put the audio into another presentation.

Displaying Charts Without Flash

Is there an alternative to displaying charts in Flash or SVG format? I need to create unique 6 dynamic charts on one page... and HTML only offer Bar Charts.
Is there a way to custom code pie, line, and stacked bar graphs in HTML or some other tool?

The main one I know of is Sorenson Squeeze alternatively try
looking for FLV compression, FLV Creation or FLV editing in Google.
Sothink Flash Video Encoder can also covert to FLV from avi,
wmv filel types
www.videodl.org will allow you to take YouTube and google
video and covert them to FLV.

Linking Buttons to Video

I'm new to Flash and i need some help please! I've been
through loads of tutorials but can't find exactly what i need.
I'm creating a virtual tour of my website. I've done the
intro as a simple timeline with animation text etc, but now what i
want to do is have 6 buttons, which when you click on, they open up
individual movies. I've created the buttons as our logo icon...when
you click on one i'd like it to be able to simultaneously open up a
video (which i've imported so it's FLV) and two mp3 files ( a
narration and a music clip).
So how do i 'pause' the main timeline once the intro has
completed, and how to i then link buttons to video and audio? Think
i need specific code for it?

this has to be relatively simple but I have looked everywhere and can't
find a solution.
One would think so, but unfortunately not, as you have to use a combination of actionscript in your flv creation and javascript on the browser side to do this.
If you have a working solution in flash, it would probably be easier to insert this into your dreamweaver page and ensure that the links to your videos are relative to the position of the files in your html page.

How to stop crazy AIR!

Hi,
When I convert videos, e.g. Youtube video, using Roxio Copy & Convert, 'something' keeps creating Flv files during the process. Often it screws up the whole work. Roxio soft does not support Flv. I do know for sure it is being done by Adobe Air. The AIR pop-up windows popped up while I was converting the videos and ever since nothing is going well. I deleted Adobe Media Player but it didn't stip either Flv creation or screwing the conversion.
I often see Flv files that have nothing to do with the videos I am converting. I don't even know where they came from. I don't even know what Air does and want to uninstall it. But, I read somewhere it has something to do with Flash or others. The situation is totally annoying.
Would anyone know how to stop this?

You posted in the forum about these forums, which is not the right place for issues with video conversion or AIR. From your description I find it unlikely your issue is caused by AIR, so I would suggest you repost in the forum for whichever video conversion tool you are using. If that is an Adobe tool you can browse the list of forums here, else I suggest checking the website of your vendor.

Using a FLV file in Flash for Web Graphic

Hello thank you for looking in.
I made a FLV file in After effects. 5 seconds long. I would like to convert it (So I think) in Flash so I can park it on my website for some 'eye candy' I was able to import the FLV an After Effects creation exported as an Alpha FLV.
I import it to the stage, have a few options about players when doing so. I used the stand alone Player option when opening my sequence. I prewview it and it works fine using both Browser and Player mode when previewing movie. However, I am unsure how to make that file play or loop forever? I am unsure of exporting it so I can just upload it to my Wordpress site and stuff it in my header so it plays when a browser opens that page. I know that is a tall order to ask. If you could either direct me to a link to the proper steps I would need to learn I would appreciate it.

I was able to get my FLV FLASH to Loop, must have been a glich on my end. Closed it and reopened it and it reverted back to a loop. I am still wondering, or I forgot the steps to exporting my work with JS ? I cannot remember where I found that info, nor how I did it. As of now I turn on JS toolbox and my Html export is a white box....I would love to export as no background, or Alpha and have the JScode export so all I need to do is cut and paste into my HTML page and change the upload address or A href " " Steps...Anyone? BTW I was able to export my AE file as a SWF however all the cool stuff that made the eye candy was not supported like fill over stroke or 3d when exporting out of AE direct as a SWF with LOOP. FWIW

Latest advice on creating .flv advice from Final Cut Express?

IN our newsroom, we have a recently purchased MacBook Pro running Final Cut Express 4.0.1 for the creation of videos for our website - problem is the the website can only take .flv files and they can be no larger than about 20 MBs. I have looked at most of the posts in this forum on creating .flv files, but I wondered what the llatest, best advice for doing this is? I know that:
1/ I can export a .mov file and just change the extension to .flv, but that creates a file as large as the original .mov file - too large for the website.
2/ The powers-that-be did not include Adobe Flash on this computer so I am supposing I cannot use Adobe Flash Encoder as a standalone app.
3/ DV Kitchen looks like it might work, but it is $79 and has a lot of bells and whistles we don't need. Plus, the beancounters will have to approve the purchase.
4/ What other cheaper options can create an .flv file from a FCE .mov file that would squeeze it down to about 20 MB?

Problem with FLV file

Hi All
I have an FLV file having video codec svc1 (screen video codec). When I try to playback this file in my media player developed using Flex , it does not play well and jumps regularly after few seconds. For example if I start play this file, playing first few seconds it will jump to 1min., then playing few seconds of video, it will jump to an interval between 2 to 3 min....like that.This happens continously till the file ends.
Other files are playing well in this player.
This file plays smoothly (without any jump) in other media players like VLC etc.
Plz help as I have searched a lot on internet for the solution and have made all efforts in creation of this file and making corrections in my media player but nothing work.Plz provide a solution.

The only solution is likely to get a newer phone. The Flash player on your phone (and mine) is based on Flash 8, which is several years out of date. Also note it's called Flash Lite, which to me suggests that certain features have been removed. Your FLV file must be trying to do something the player doesn't support.

Difficulty using hardcoded swf file to display flv files

I have created a swf player using the flvplayback component to display flv files. The document in flash is 275 pixels wide by 130px pixels long. I also have my video component (flyPlayBack) set at 275px by 100px to display the playback controls. My flash code is my simple like the following

Just like above works fine. But I tried playing 2 different videos, the first video image is below

I notice the video sizes are different but not the video player size, is this to do a thing called aspect ratio? Is it possible to change this using my simple actionscript code above?
(2) I also tried the full screen button but the video only takes up part of the screen, as shown below. sorry about image size.
Is this a common occurance, is there a way to access the buttons on the flyplayback instance using actionscript and overridding the behaviour? Any advice upon my current situation would be much appreciated. Thanks.

To me the first two screen shots look like you set the wrong aspect ratio/screen size. I don't see any scaling of the player at all... only black bars on sides because the video didn't fill the entire video player display.
And yes, there is a much more powerful and versatile means of displaying Flash video, called NetStream. You can design your own player and have better control over the display. I always use NetStream rather than the FLVPlayback.
But if you are having sizing issues introduced during the creation of the video... then the player itself is not necessarily going to fix that. You need to know the correct display size and aspect ratio for each video you plan to display.
However, you can somewhat adjust the display size for each video using some actionscript... as you see here:

Video to FLV console converter

Hi All,
How to convert avi and other video formats to FLV using
console (command prompt) application. So my .Net application can
convert avi to FLVs using console. When ever new video file uploads
it should convert to FLV formate.

MX and Pro do allow for creation of FLV files but in the
tutorial it says that it must be 1.0 or higher. The script is defo
correct and the scrub doesn't work.

Problems embedding an FLV into the timeline

Hello,
I'm interested in embedding a video into my swf file automatically. Therefore, I managed embedding an flv file onto the stage, but the problem is that after I give the embedded video an instance name and refer to the instance in a command (f.e change x,y coordinates or change width/height), on execution of the swf, the video stays frozen while the audio plays. If I don't refer to the embedded video instance, the video plays normally, just not placed correctly on the stage.
Is there any way to place the video correctly???

The problem here is that I want to automate the creation of the SWF. Therefore, I am using some sort of simulation program which takes control of GUI objects. The only problem I had was controlling the width, height, x and y controls that appear as simple text (not as regular text boxes),
Anyhow, that's why I tried giving the embedded video an <instance name> and editing it through actionscript code of the FLA file. But that gave me the phenomena that I explained where the embedded video is placed & sized correctly, but it appears frozen with audio running normally in the resulting SWF.
I hoped that there's a way to handle this problem (casting to a different object, using a certain function etc.), or that someone is familiar with this phenomena.

P.S - If you want to see the phenomena, take an FLA file and embed it into the timeline on the stage. Later on, give it an <instance name> (via control+F3 to open the properties window of the object). Insert code to the FLA:
<instance name>.x = 0;
<instance name>.y = 0;
<instance name>.width = 100;
<instance name>.height = 200;
You'll see that the video does not play, while the audio is head normally.
