Flv doesn't play in new dw4 html page

after saving the new html page, i drag a flv file into it and save the page again. when i press f12, firefox opens with nothing but a dozen playback buttons in the page. in spite of autoplay have been set, no movie plays. i've tried this with three different playback skins. i'm not an html programmer. what do i do to  cause the page to play the flv file?  --david

Hi
You cannot simply drag an flv file onto a page in dreamweaver and expect it to work as the supporting files will be missing, (you may get the player skins, but not the flv file to play).
Try following the instructions given in these two tutorials/instructions - http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7c9 ea.html

  • Firefox after updating to 37.0.1 doesn't play yahoo news videos ?

After updating to 37.0.1 yahoo news videos are not playing. Youtube/msn videos are working. It did not have this issue before this 37.0.1 update. I tried deleting history, cache etc. completely but it did not help.
I tried the steps described in
Firefox after updating to 37.0.1 doesn't play youtube videos.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1055848
I did reset firefox. It started working but annoyed with pop-up adds. I installed Ad Blocker. It stopped working.
It look like Firefox 37.0.1 does not like some of the add_ons/plugins installed on previous version.
How do I block pop_up adds, malware, tracking etc in Firefox 37.0.1 ?
Why does some videos are working and other are not?
    Thanks for helping.

Does it make a difference if you use a Flash based player or a HTML5 media player?
Are you using the HTML5 media player or the default (Flash based) player?

  • Displaying changing data in DW4 HTML pages

Hi - I'm hoping someone can offer a way to do this more efficiently in DW4 than how I did it for the client.
I originally did this in Flash but since I'm the only person who knows Flash here, and because I would not be the person updating the data on a daily basis, I moved it to DW4 as HTML files.
They wanted a map with pushpins of the US and other countries.  See image below:
When you click on a pushpin, the state or country appears displaying names.  Then you click on a name and it displays data about that person on the right.  See below:
It's basically a drill-down concept, starting with usa.html, clicking on a state, which displays northcarolina.html, clicking on a name, which displays personname.html.
As you can imagine, if you have 50 names, you're going to have 50 HTML pages to keep track of.  And if 20 of those names are displayed on each page like the one above, if Ron quits and is replaced by someone named Mike Smith, you have to go to the NC page and all 20 individual pages to change the names.
I would love to be able to do this same concept but with one central spreadsheet or some other document that holds all of the names and data for each.  Then, when something needs to be updated, just do it in this central document and the HTML display automatically updates.
Any idea how this can be done with DW4 and some other type of data file?  Thanks.

When you say "DW4" do you really mean "DW4" (vintage 1999) or "DW CS4" (vintage 2009)?
The best way to do this would be to use server scripting with a database.  But if you really mean DW4, then you would have to manually create all of that scripting.

  • SWF won't play onced inserted into html page, though plays in absolute paths

I have embedded a SWF in my index page. The background image saved in the FLA shows up, but none of the remaining content. If I put in the URL to the actual SWF and HTML files, however, everything works fine.

This to me sounds like an issue with the ActionScript.  Have you tried posting in the Flash forum?

After loading the new OS my songs do not play correctly, is anyone else having this issue? Titles are wrong on songs and it just doesn’t play certain songs in random play or even if you select them individually. What’s up? Kind of frustrating!!!

I had the same issue.  In fact I posted it yesterday, but didn't get any replies.  I physically synched my phone to PC iTunes.  on the PC, under the phone/music tab, I unchecked the synch music box and then the apply button to remove all of the music from my phone.  Then once that synch finished, I went back and selected all music, and synch music and apply to put it back on to the phone.  So far, I haven't had an issue again, but I also haven't listened very long.  Hope this helps!

  • Mail doesn't play any sound with new Gmail emails

I just signed for a Gmail account but I see it works in a someway different manner from the other email accounts I have. I noticed that Mail shows me a new incoming email almost immediately since I click send from another account, that's a good thing, but unfortunately it doesn't play any sound, like instead it does when I receive emails on the other accounts.
    any suggestions?

I have noticed with 10.6.x Mail doesn't make sounds when receiving/sending Mail when you first launch it. However if I leave it open (just minimize it) and let it run and Mail goes get new email sound suddenly makes the sounds. I am still trying to figure out why it is happening (on both of my Macs). If you get any idea please share it because I would like to know also.

My Mac mini has a DVD drive but doesn't play new movies

There are also some DVD sets with lots of supplement material on their discs, that you can only run with Interactual's DVD Player for the Mac.   Sadly, this software you need 10.6.8 or earlier to run:

See this tip on doing that if you have a Mac made on or after the release of 10.7:

  • Can't get FLV to play in HTML page...

    Hi,
I dragged the FLVPlayback to the stage and set the source to my FLV file name and set the skin to one of the options.
My HTML page calls upon the published SWF file. Do I need to name the additional SWF file to the same name as my skin?
How do you publish the skin file also?
I'm thinking this issue lies with the dimensions of the movie. The FLV says it is 640 x 480. So I went in and modified the Flash document to the same.
Do I need to use the Transform tool and make the actual player to these proportions so it fills the stage? - here is where the confusion lies...or is it 'smart' enough to conform. My settings are the default of 'maintain aspect ratio'.
    Please help!
    Thank you.

As mentioned earlier, most likely a pathing problem... but just a slight correction. If you just cannot figure out the pathing issue, put all your files in the same folder as the WEB PAGE, not the .fla, since you don't need to upload that file anyway.
But, to dispell the myth that all the files need to be in the same directory... just not true. You can put your Flash related stuff in whatever folders you want as long as you realize that once you place your Flash .swf on a Web page, you are in effect, removing that .swf from it's physical location and moving it to the same folder as the Web page. So all files called by that .swf (skins, videos, xml) must be called relative to the Web page location, NOT the physical location of the .swf.
    From an old post:
    Pathing issues
Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do not have to be in the root. But if sticking them in there worked, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
Just remember that paths become relative to the Web page on which those Flash files are used. So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, etc), the path used inside the .swf to the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final locations and you can put the files wherever you want.

  • New Synced Podcast doesn't play from start

So I sync up new podcast that is downloaded to my itouch 2nd gen. When I disconnect I start to play the new podcast,
however it doesnt start at 0:00, instead it sometimes start at 2 mins, 30 mins or last few mins. I haven't touched the podcast in
itunes or on my itouch except when I first launched it.
My old podcast, sometimes I haven't finished listening to it and sync up with the new unplayed podcasts every friday.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
    thanks

repairing permissions didn't change anything. It crashes when i go to the itunes store, downloads, or genius. There are other times when it crashes too.
try booting your Mac into _*safe mode*_ and launch iTunes while in it. does the problem persist ?
also, create a new (temporary) user account, log into that, and launch iTunes. what happens ?
I've read bad things about 10.6.4. I am scared to try without having a backup first.
yes, backing up is a good idea
however, the combo updater is a different beast vs. the one you get via software update. it will find and replace corrupted files, or insert missing components. it might just fix your crash problems.
I don't have the external drive available at the moment, but as far as I know, it's the entire library
well, the question is where is the iTunes library file ? this is what an entire iTunes folder looks like. it contains the music (or media) folder and e.g. the library file etc.
if your entire iTunes folder (which contains the library file) is on the external, just copy it from the external to <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music on the MBP, overwriting the iTunes folder in place there.
or copy the *library file* from the PowerMac's iTunes folder to the MBP's iTunes folder.

  • Movie doesn't play

I am not new to this but I am feeling like it. I just installed CS5 Web Premium and took a movie, imported and exported with skin and html. http://www.dettwyler.org/rooftoprites.html
It doesn't play, there is no skin. Everything is in the root directory - the SkinOverAll.swf, RooftopRites.swf. I don't see an embed statement in the HTML. Shouldn't there be one?
    Help? Thanks!
    Rick

    Does this work locally?
If so: Is the video definitely uploaded? I tried to hit http://www.dettwyler.org/RooftopRites.flv and I get a 404 error. It appears as though the SWF is loading correctly (if you right-click you get the Flash right-click menu, and no errors appear - also, if you roll over the bottom area it appears as though the skin is appearing)
If the video is definitely up there and in the correct location:
Is the server set-up to serve up FLV files? If you maintain the server, check for the FLV MIME-TYPE - if you don't, ask whoever does to do so.  That is the typical culprit in cases like these, where it appears as though the SWF is loading correctly, but the video isn't displaying.

  • Flv doesn't display in Safari

Have placed an flv in a page and it displays and plays in all

Safari doesn't like or understand? I've searched all over the web
for a solution. The flv even plays in Live Preview in DW CS4 which
supposedly uses the Safari rendering engine. All scripts and other
support files are on the server, all paths are correct. Anyone have
    any ideas? Here's the url:
    http://www.waxthemovie.com/home.html

Sure does work. What you mean to say is that you cannot make
    it work,
    right?
    Here's a page -
    http://murraytestsite.com/test-flv.php
I created a new page and saved it. I inserted the FLV, and
    chose the
options. I uploaded the page WITH dependent files. That's
    it....

    Hey Good People,
I have been scratching my head trying to figure out why this Flash video doesn't play.  I checked to make sure it is in the correct format. I've tried FLV and H.264 neither of which plays.  The custom play button appears and the alpha goes to 0 when clicked but the video doesn't play.  It works in the flash environment and on my desktop when I dropped it into an html shell.  Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make this work?

    DOWNLOAD THE VIDEO

You should use Flash debug version. When you do, you will se a security error:
