FLV File to DVD

Hi,
I have a number of video files in FLV format. I have an iBook G4 with Mac Os X
I would like to collate them all, putting them on a dvd, with a central menu which gives the user the option to choose which one to watch!
How do I do this! I have both iMovie and iDVDs. What exactly do I need to do?
Many THanks

I have a number of video files in FLV format.
You might want to get VisualHub from http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/
You can try it for free to see if it work for you. It's a very useful application for working with video files.

  • How do I download a video and convert it into an flv file? In previous versions, all I had to do was pick the resolution and it was done automaticlly. I use DVDFLICK to burn my downloaded videos to DVD.

In previous versions of Firefox, I was able to easily download and convert videos into .flv files. I was then able to burn DVDs of theses downloaded videos using DVDFLICK. I'm now unable to do this using Firefox6.0.2?

    Hello,
There is a process by which you can produce a BluRay encode on a red laser DVD. See link below
    from Ken Stone site.
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/burn_br_mac_superdrivestone.html
Also this can be done in Toast 10 with the BluRay plugin, somewhat easier.

  • How to get a poster or preview image for my flv file

I am trying to find out how I can get a static image to show in my flvplayer before someone presses the play button to view the video.
    Details:
I am brand new to flash, videos, .flv files, flash players, etc. I am very experienced with Dreamweaver, however.
I had a DVD video. I converted it from DVD to a .flv file. In Dreamweaver, I inserted the .flv file into my web page using Insert - FLV. It added the nifty little flv player with the skins. Everything is working perfectly, except prior to the user clicking play, the video shows just a black screen. I'd like to replace that with a placeholder image (poster image??).
    Here is the page: http://ilovestraightteeth.webscapersites.com/treatments/incognito-braces.shtml
Is there simply a parameter I add to the object/ embed code? Or do I need to edit the video? Or otherwise? Any help would be appreciated, I'm being bounced from one forum to the next all over the place.
I've got the adobe cs4 suite, if that information is helpful/relevant. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Nancy - that definitely helped! But -- again, I'm totally new to this, so another probably silly question....
I followed the tutorial and totally got all of that, was able to add my poster frame, tested it, it all worked great. But now my video is in a .fla file; the option to export to FLV is not there. I need to get the video onto my web page now. So I tried exporting it as a .swf file, and then returned to Dreamweaver to insert the .swf file onto the page. I did an insert - SWF, the placeholder showed up, but when I tried to preview, I only got a blank white screen. I went to the Dreamweaver help files to see if I inserted it wrong, but I followed step by step and did it just as it said. (incidentally, a few days ago I tried insterting a different SWF file and the same thing happened).
    (a) do you know why my SWF file is not showing up/previewing?
    (b) is there a different file format I should have exported after I finished the tutorial for adding the poster image, when I had the functional .fla file?
Thanks again. I really appreciate the response.

  • New to Soundbooth....How can I export audio from a .flv file?

    Hi,
I am sorta new to SB.  My girlfriend has purchased a study program that has numerous .flv files on a DVD.  She has asked if I can take the audio and convert each movie to an .mp3, (so that she can listen to the videos on her Iphone).  I figured I could open them in SB and then export as an .mp3, which would work fine on her Iphone.
The problem I run into is that when I open the .flv files in SB, the video appears, but the audio doesnot.  The .flv videos play fine in every other program.  Am I doing something wrong?  I figure since she purchased the DVDs (and owns the study program), that I am not doing anything illegal by removing the audio.  Are they encrypted?
Any other way to do this?
    Thanks,
    G

Use the Share menu. Choose Export Using QuickTime.
    Choose Sound to AIFF.

  • Help with .flv files

    Hello,
I have some .FLV files that I need to convert for a DVD. I would like to go straight to mpeg2 but all the things I have tried have not worked.
I may be away from the computer until tuesday so I will respond then.
Is there a way to play these files in FCP?
any suggestions are more than welcome.

    Thanks,
I actually did the Flash timeline export, but I need the sound.
Does anyone know if ther is a way to get the sound of the file without recording it in real time?

  • How to control framerate in f4v/flv files in a Build / Flash process?

I am quite new to Encore and would kindly ask for an advice.
I am trying to build Flash material from projects, to be played from local PC, not necessary to be used as internet stream. In the final material I just run "index.html" and it plays in my local browser, say Google Chrome. I need that the generated f4v / flv video clips to be rendered in high quality (usually 1280x720 progressive) with framerates as high as 30 fps or 60 fps. Suppose I load  in Encore CS5 as asset an AVC mp4 clip rendered with 60fps. I select preset "1280x720 Widescreen High Quality". When executing "Build / Flash..." Encore produces a flv / f4v file with 25 fps. I cannot find where to control this aspect, I would like to endup with a f4v / flv clip with same framerate as the asset, in this case 60fps. Or at least 30fps. Any idea where to control this? I do not find any controls in Encore regarding this setting. Encore simply outputs 25fps flv clips, and sometime 15fps clips (I could not find out why 15fps...). Is there a way to force Encore to output flv clips with same framerate as the original asset?
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you, Stan, for looking at this problem.
Yes indeed, Flash output in Encore is limited in many ways. I have done some experimenting now. It seemes I have found a nice application for Flash, but this application was not forseen by the developers of Encore, thus it is only poorly implemented. Unfortunately. Let me explain.
I produce multimedia material (video clips with film footage, still pictures & some effects) to be watched on PC with large screens or on PC & projector. Thus I need HD resolutions. At large resolution effects may sometimes not be perceived to run smoothly unless the video clips are rendered with high framerates. A trivial example would be rolling vertical credits at end of a video clip. When the clip is rendered with 25fps or lower you need to make the credits roll to run very slowly, otherwise the rolling down looks not smooth. Smoothiness gets better with material rendered at 29,97fps or 59,94 fps. I expected Encore would keep the framerate of the original asset when transcoding to Flash f4v / flv. This does not happen. I input assets (carefully observing the accepted input formats you mentioned) with high framerate, whereas Encore produced 25fps f4v files out of them. Unfortunately DVD formats have too low resolution for my intend and BR disks are not very popular where I live. I discovered that delivering material in Flash, to be played as an off-line website from local PC in the default browser - this would be a very nice solution. Unless Encore would perform better for this job. Probably it was simply not designed for this.
My first surprise was that I ended with 25fps f4v material. Trying to change this in Project Settings was not possible. Project was started in PAL and this option was now greyed out. Ok, I started a new project from the scratch as NTSC material, now at least the generated f4v files feature 29,97 fps instead of 25 fps, which would be acceptable. Unless...
The Flash transcoding machine of Encore drastically lowers bitrate for the generated f4v / flv files. I believe somewhere near 4Mbps (but may vary, I have not tested thoroughly). This can be ok for 360p material or lower resolution, or for watching video on youtube, but for HD resolution the effects look very bad and they do not run smooth at such low bitrate. I also noticed there is a problem with the Flash Player. The same generated (poor) f4v palyed in VLC or WMP looks much better than when played with Adobe Flash Player. Not to speak about difference between playing the original asset at 59,94fps with VLC versus playing the generated f4v (25fps) with Adobe Flash Player - here the difference is enormous!
It seemes I had some unrealistic expectations from Encore. I realy like the menus one can design with it, I like the possibility to build the project as Flash, but the results are quite poor. I need to look for an alternative solution.
When issuing the first post I just hoped I was doing something wrong...

  • Please Help! I want to covert an FLV file to an AVI file HOW?!?

I downloaded a youtube video which  was an MP4 and used Flash CS3 Video Encoder to encode it to an FLV  file. Actually improved the quiktime file. Anyway, my question is: I  want to encode the FLV file to an AVI file to put on a DVD for a friend  to view in their DVD player. They don't have internet capabilities [ ] so I can't email the link.
If I can make a DVD so they can view the AVI files that would be the cats meow!!
I  tried using the video import wizard to import the FLV file into Flash  CS3 but can't seem to figure out what to do. I know there is someone out  there that can help me.
OH, PLEASE!! You guys have always been SOOO helpful in the past.
And a BIG thank you in advance!!
    Ellen

If your friend has a DVD player that can play avi files, that's great! but most DVD players will not play .avi files, since .avi is more or less a Windows based video container format... for use on computers, not broadcast TV or DVD players.
But if you're sure that it will work, there are lots of flv to avi converters available. Just Google "flv to avi converters", for example:

  • FLV File does not play when published to my web server

Hi. I have created a short video in VC3 and selected the FLV option to create a web page. When I uploaded the entire file content to my web server (windows 2003 server hosted at Network Solutions) the FLV file will not play. Now... if I do the same with a WMV tile, the video plays.
You can view the file at
    http://www.airforcehomeseller.com/videos/va_education/VATutorials/index.htm
We have another video published in WMV format, although the video vs audio sync is out of wack at the moment, at

    What am I doing wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi again
You should probably double-check to ensure the standard.js file was also copied in when the HTML page was imported. It should be there but it never hurts to double check.
You might also perform a double-check to ensure things ended up in the correct folder (if you are organizing your project into folders). It could be that you moved the HTML page into a different folder and orphaned the JavaScript file.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How can I mask on flv file in flash cs4?

    Hi,
I am new to Flash CS4. I saw one video on how to use flv file in flash and mask it. It is working fine when I am using the following option while importing a video file to flash:
Load external video with playback component
But when I tried with the following option it doesn't show the background, it shows only movie which is playing nicely. But not the background which has a bill board.
Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline
It seems the mask is not working with this option.
How to solve this problem? Please help.
Actually it should be like the above.
But when I am using the option Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline while importing the flv video, getting the result like below: It is not showing the Bill board as above.
    See the layers created:

    Hi,

  • Flash CS5 unable to play .FLV files on Macbook Pro

I have a colleague who is trying to put together a Flash package for me  on her macbook pro.  It needs to play an flv file. She is unable to play  flv files on her computer either in Flash or using the Adobe Media  Player. I have no problem playing the same files on my macbook pro,  we're both running the latest OS and have version 1.8 of Adobe Media  Player.
She went to the Adobe site to download the latest version of Adobe  Media Player, hoping that might include whatever component is missing on  her system. Because of Adobe's decision not to distribute AMP that  didn't help.  She has Flash Professional CS5 11.0.2 on her system.  When  she imports an flv video into a Flash project and tries to play it she  gets an error message saying it can't stream the video. Note that the  video is on her hard drive, it is NOT on the internet so no streaming  should be required.
The actual error message is: "the video player is in the connection  error state. It enters this state when a video stream attempted to load  but was unsuccessful. There are two possible reasons for the error: no  connection to the server or the stream was not found."
Since it's a file on her hard drive, and she has loaded the file  into the Adobe development environment successfully, the one thing we  know for certain is that neither of these reasons is correct. Something  is obviously missing on her system, what is it and what can we do to fix  it?

I'm getting error too (Error #2044: Unhandled NetStatusEvent:. level=error, code=NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound). I'm getting this with CS5. This file was previously made in CS4 and never got this error.
Everything (fla and flv too) is on external hard disk.
As this work requires to be exported to mov, I've found out that everything needs to be on the mac (don't know for pc), like on desktop.
So, let me wrap up disadvantages I got with Flash CS5:
    - TextField.embedFont makes the font disappear in CS5, so I can't use it, so I can't "play" with text in a comfortable way (in CS4, with embedFont = true, I was able to rotate and stuff). Now I have to make a bitmap out of it. It means 3 lines of code and a new variable, instead of just an easy one.
    - I have to rebuild my entire source path structure for AS classes, as my old one (that took me years of effort to be reasonable and used to work just fine in CS4).
    - I have to move stuff from my hard drive to the desktop, to make flv be played and to make a mov out of my animation.
CS5 is making my job harder and making me lose a lot of time to find out errors that have no good reason to exist (it was not error. just "place CS5 doesn't like").

  • How do I burn a .mov file to DVD?

I need to burn an MPEG-2 video file saved as .mov to a DVD that will play in a regular DVD player.
I have tried opening iDVD and the selecting 'Create a New Project'. When I have selected a location for the project and the main window opens, I go to File > OneStep DVD from Movie...
My understanding is that when I import a movie file, it will burn it straight to the disc without any further options. It does this, however after a couple of minutes the DVD is ejected blank and iDVD says the burn has completed.
How can I solve this problem or is there another way to burn a .mov file to DVD?
    Thanks, Dan

A green screen in an indication that the movie is in a format not supported by iDVD.   It should be in one of these formats:  DV, high-definition video (HDV), MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-4 SD, MPEG-4 HD, and AVCHD.  (From SDMacUser's post in What input file formats does iDVD...: Apple Support Communities). The post has other requirements that need to be met.
    SD = standard definition.
Open your movie with QT Player and bring up the Info window for the movie.  It will have the format:
Another possible reason is the Energy Saving settings on the Mac.  Turn off energy saving and screen saver before starting the save as disk image or burn.

  • How do I convert an flv file to still images?

This may sound stupid, but I have a downloaded flv file, and I want to use about
8 seconds  to make still images so I can trace into Illustrator and then export it into Flash. (both are older versions).
    Is this possible?
It is for an animinated logo.
    Thanx.

Everybody's wrong wrong wrong. You don't need garageband. Select the song, go to info. You need to select a start and stop time for the song that can't be any longer than 40 seconds in length. Then in advanced mode you convert the song to acc. once done locate the file on the computer. it should end in .m4a . Change the a to an r so it reads .m4r Drag the file to the desktop, double click and it ends up in ringtones folder.
