FLV FILES IN FLASH SITE DESIGN

Can anyone give me some suggestions, I am using a flash
template that has 7 separate flash files (1.fla; 2.fla;3fla; etc.)
that feed into the 1.fla/1.swf/1.index.html flash page. I have
incorporated a small movie with no sound into the swf.1 file and
then the rest of the files have simple text but in the 6.swf file I
utilized another template by Dan Carr which he put up on this site
that has an flv movie player with 5 flv files. I have no problem
with this template it works wonderfully, the problem is it opens
and play independently but it is 6.swf and when I open my
1.swf/1.index.html file the voice from the first movie in my 6.swf
file plays. The movie sound that plays from my 6.swf file is the
first flv movie on that page which has 4 other flv movie files. I
don't understand why the sound track for that flv file is playing
in my homepage or 1.swf file. Expermenting, I took the voice out of
that first flv movie player and with the voice/soundtrack out of
the first flv/movie in 6.swf then no other sounds carry forward to
the homepage or the 1.swf/1.html page. But I want to keep all 5
movies in my 6.swf file/movie player and not start that file with a
blank flv spot and then 4 other movies. I would appreciate any
suggestions.

From your description, it sounds like all of the loaded
movies, are loaded in at the start of the first Flash movie.
Additionally, in this 6.swf movie, the first .flv file is set to
begin to play as soon as that movie is loaded. That's why you are
hearing the sound track playing when the first movie loads.
You can fix this by changing the code in 6.swf so that the
first movie doesn't begin to stream/play when it loads. If there is
a button to play this movie then this should be a trivial task.
Another option is to not load 6.swf when the first movie starts,
but to wait until 6.swf is called to be shown.

  • Using AMP to download and save FLV files from web sites?

I thought I had heard months ago that this new media player was going to allow you to download and save the FLV files from web sites like YouTube and others, where a direct download while possible, isn't the easiest thing to currently do. But I don't really see any way in this new media player to download and save files from web sites....it's plenty willing to play them if they're already saved on your hard drive, but I thought one of the reasons for Adobe building this was to make it easier to get them in the first place?

I'd have to agree. This is one of the most useless products I have seen from a company of this standard. Why they continue to provide this product as an example of what can be done with AIR, is bewildering.  Myself and others have posted over and over again that the player deletes the saved movies at some random time, an hour or two hours after they appear to be saved.
What is the point of having a 'saved' icon the CD ICON if that movie will be deleted   FOR NO BLOODY reason.  I just wasted 400 mb of my quota dowloading moves 3 times...!! just to realise that the application deletes them from the VERY CACHE that it copies them to.
Adobe, if this is what I can expect while trying to view the tutorials for FLEX what will the development experience be like. Myself and others are fed up with posting this bug to Adobe, just to be ignored. How much stress to do you want on your servers before you WAKE UP.
I have been in 4 meetings over the last 2 weeks and everyone has remarked about the 'experience' trying to view these tutorials.
Wake up to yourself. If you want to charge $500 for FLEX then atleast fix this crappy player.
PS. I note that this player is supposedly built with Flex and that the list control truncates rather than wraps, in addition, no 'tool tips',  dates are not localised, the video keeps unpausing itself each time I return from the downloads page, no settings for where files should be cached. Occasionally the underlining (grey) window bar appears over the top of the flash window edge.  I've used the application for an hour or so...
Where is the alternative... I'll be glad when Adobe get some real competition.. so that they pay attention to input.  A big wastefull site if all support does is read and ignore posts.!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How can I mask on flv file in flash cs4?

    Hi,
I am new to Flash CS4. I saw one video on how to use flv file in flash and mask it. It is working fine when I am using the following option while importing a video file to flash:
Load external video with playback component
But when I tried with the following option it doesn't show the background, it shows only movie which is playing nicely. But not the background which has a bill board.
Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline
It seems the mask is not working with this option.
How to solve this problem? Please help.
Actually it should be like the above.
But when I am using the option Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline while importing the flv video, getting the result like below: It is not showing the Bill board as above.
    See the layers created:

    Hi,
I Tried with CS4 by creating mask layer and importing video , layers created were same as you have created and it is working for me .

FLV is FLash Video.  You will want to use a program such as After Effects or Premiere Pro to edit video, not Flash Professional.

  • Using a FLV file in Flash for Web Graphic

Hello thank you for looking in.
I made a FLV file in After effects. 5 seconds long. I would like to convert it (So I think) in Flash so I can park it on my website for some 'eye candy' I was able to import the FLV an After Effects creation exported as an Alpha FLV.
I import it to the stage, have a few options about players when doing so. I used the stand alone Player option when opening my sequence. I prewview it and it works fine using both Browser and Player mode when previewing movie. However, I am unsure how to make that file play or loop forever? I am unsure of exporting it so I can just upload it to my Wordpress site and stuff it in my header so it plays when a browser opens that page. I know that is a tall order to ask. If you could either direct me to a link to the proper steps I would need to learn I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any direction on this one.  I have created a flash poject or two and exported them as swf and have had them work, but I have never used an imported FLV is there any diff? And how come it does not automatically loop without the ACTION ()Stop ?

I was able to get my FLV FLASH to Loop, must have been a glich on my end. Closed it and reopened it and it reverted back to a loop. I am still wondering, or I forgot the steps to exporting my work with JS ? I cannot remember where I found that info, nor how I did it. As of now I turn on JS toolbox and my Html export is a white box....I would love to export as no background, or Alpha and have the JScode export so all I need to do is cut and paste into my HTML page and change the upload address or A href " " Steps...Anyone? Thanks
BTW I was able to export my AE file as a SWF however all the cool stuff that made the eye candy was not supported like fill over stroke or 3d when exporting out of AE direct as a SWF with LOOP. FWIW

  • High CPU usage when playing flv files with flash

As more and more FLV videos are moving to HD, I'm noticing
high CPU usage and lots of dropped frames when playing FLV video in
web browser with Flash 10. This is true even if the video isn't
full screen. I've tried a variety of browsers (Firefox, I.E.,
Chrome) and the problem occurs on all of them so it's pretty clear
    it's a limitation in Flash.
Now my PC isn't high end (it has a Pentium M 1.86 GHz
processor), but I can take those same FLV files and load them in
something like Media Player Classic or Windows Media Player (when
using ffdshow) and play the FLV files full screen with little or no
drop in frames and an acceptable CPU rate.
This is especially annoying on sites like YouTube where I
actually have to save the video and play it back in something other
than Flash to have it play back at an acceptable rate. This doesn't
work for other sites like Amazon.
Why is the CPU usage so high when decoding and displaying
videos when compared to other media players?

I've been doing research about this excessively high CPU usage problem (100%!) for weeks because I have also experienced it with my vista home premium laptop. Just recently, I have finally found the solution. The problem is not your browser or your OS or your pc's memory. The problem is caused by authorization for flash player.
Read the link (posted below) carefully and follow the steps accordingly. If you have already done steps 1 through 6 with your computer, you can go straight to step 7.

Please let me know also if the link solves your problem. I am sharing this because Adobe seems unable to provide solutions to this, and I don't want to hear people suffer.

  • Flash site design tips

I'm looking to build a flash portfolio site. Basically the
picture I have in my mind of this site is that its going to be
very......elegant. I don't know how to put it in words. Its going
to be called Sophistication, and will be a black website with very
very mild transtitions. It will have aptly have a calming Mozart
    song as the background.
What I want to know is, at the Loading screen I would like to
design it such a way that when the site is loaded, the "L" "A" "D"
"I" "N" and "G" disappear, but the "O" stays and it sort of goes up
and gently comes down like a comet and explodes to reveal a
blinding light and the main site content appears.
Can someone give me a few tips or pointers on how to do this?
I have a very clear idea in mind of what to do , just that I don't
know how to do this in flash.

This is quite easy and can be done using simple tweening and
frame-by-frame animation on the timeline. You could also achieve
much of this type of animation using ActionScript but you may find
this more challenging although it is arguably the preferred method.
Googling for text tweening in Flash should throw up some
tutorials. There are also many Flash sites where you can simply
purchase prebuilt text effects, which you can manipulate and
deconstruct to see how the effect is created. If you do buy a
prebuilt effect make sure that you are given the source fla file
and some commenting in the code.
If you get really stuck you can buy some great Flash books
that will show you these basic techniques or if you prefer video
    you can try sites like
    http://www.lynda.com or total
training for free content snippets and full dvd videos. Try and use
AS3 or CS3 Flash techniques or, if you can't find much CS3 info
online, look for Flash 8 or AS2. Older tutorials abound and more
modern techniques are better in the long run so choose your
    technique carefully.

  • Can't seem to stream (RTMP) an FLV file in Flash Media Playback from the Amazon Cloud

I seem to be having trouble streaming any FLV file using RTMP from the Amazon Cloud.  Other file formats (i.e., MP4, F4V) seem to work just fine.
I tried using your Flash Media Playback demo page and still had the same problem:
    http://www.osmf.org/configurator/fmp/
Without publicly displaying the actual connection path here, this is what I am using for the Video Source (URL):
    rtmp://xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.cloudfront.net/cfx/st/_definst_/MyVideo.flv
If I change the "MyVideo.flv" to "mp4:MyVideo.f4v", for example, then it works.  But when I try to reference any FLV file that I have located on the Amazon Cloud then it just shows continuous buffering.
The FLV files that I am trying to use with both the Strobe and Flash Media Playback(s) all stream just fine when I connect to them via other Flash based applications/players that I have.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thank you very much.

    Hello,
The link to the previous post does not seem to apply or help in this case.  Please let me know if I am wrong.
I am merely trying to stream any FLV file using your Flash Media Playback demo page.  What am I missing here?
    Thanks again.

  • Can't Open .flv Files in Flash Player

I have Flash and Flash Player 9 on my Mac OS v.10.4.11. I
cannot open any .flv files with the player. Many are files that I
encoded with the Adobe Flash CS3 Video Encoder. When I double-click
on an .flv file, it opens the player, but no file. Same if I try to
open the file from within the player.
Anybody know what could be the problem?
    Thanks in advance.

That is because you can't open FLV files.
You can import them into an FLA for playback. Or you can
publish a swf that dynamically loads the FLV and plays it back, but
you will need to either use a Playback component or use
    Actionscript to do that.

  • Editing flv files in flash

I have a long video in flv format that I want to break up

  • Audio quality degraded when imprting FLV file to Flash FLA

    Hi,
I have created a FLV file using Adobe Media Encoder CS5.
I have played it back on Several Media players and it sound fine.
I import it into a Scene in Flash CS5 aand when I preview the Scene the audio has degraded and sounds terrible.
The audio is mono at 48 kbps.
I cannot find any controls or options to edit the audio of the video.
I have rendered it out several times using different settings but it alway plays back the same highly compressed tinny sound.
    Any advise?

Try with your publish settings in flash to adjust your audio quality while publishing, look into the below screenshot:

  • Flash Site Design - How to -

I've been learning flash for the last month or so and now I'm
about to dig in. I need to create a site and slideshow that has
animated borders around a slideshow like this:
    http://www.gretchenadams.com/
    (enter site)
With then entry lines looking as though they are drawn on
should I be doing this by creating a movie clip of a drawn out
border and then masking, fading and keyframing the borders in? Or
should that be done with some actionscript trickery?
The actual resizing borders around the slideshow. Do I just
create 3 or so different borders and then is there a way to write a
script that recognizes the size of the photo and then adjusts the
border automaticly so that I can load the photos from xml. I'm
pretty sure that if I was creating a self contained slideshow I
could animate this all myself without some crazy actionscripts
(Aside from the basics) but since I need to load them from xml and
I need it to adjust itself to the size I'm not quite sure which way
    I should be heading.
Thanks for your prompt attention : )

    Don't shoot me for this...
I need to load this from xml. I wanted to load the sizes etc
via the xml but I couldn't figure out how to do all that.
I found a tutorial that teaches how to do the resizing
border. But it starts off by creating a border of any size, then
using a "UILoader" component. The tutorial teaches how to load the
files for this via an images folder one at a time but not as an xml
file. I've got about 24 pictures typed out in an xml file, a few
blank squares to act as thumbnail buttons on the stage but it says
    to:
add mouse click event listener (load pic)
    button mode true
    function loadImage(whatever:MouseEvent):void
    picLoader.source = "images/individual image.jpg";
Now I'm stuck at that last part. How can I get the first file
in the xml to be called out from there instead of the individual
    jpg?
Here is the top part of the code that tested the xml itself:
    var babyImages:XML;
    var imageList:XMLList;
    var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader()
    loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete);
    loader.load(new URLRequest("slideshow.xml"));
    function onComplete(d:Event):void
    babyImages = new XML(loader.data);
    imageList = imagesX.image;
    trace(imageList);
Thanks for your prompt attention. I'm open to jumping ship on
this way and doing it the other if I could figure out how to put
the sizes properly into the xml and extract them in the
    actionscript.

    Hi Hugh
Rather than attempting to find those files, I suggest you lock the Shared Object folder. This precludes any Flash cookie info from being written to your HD.
To do so, go to the Finder and navigate to the Macromedia folder - Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. Continue drilling down to the Shared Objects folder. Now, simply move to the trash the contents of the Shared Objects folder. Once the folder is empty, click on the Shared Objects folder, Command/I to open its Info panel and click on the Locked option, then close the panel.
From here on out, no information will be written to that file. I did this awhile ago and have not had any adverse effect from locking the folder.
