Flv. not displaying in browser

I uploaded an .flv file and it won't display when viewed in a
borwser. I just get my blank white background. What have I done
wrong?

The video does not have a skin on it. It just loads, plays and ends. I have an ActionScript listener attached so that when the video ends, it goes back to the main menu.
I hope it will be helpful to add in some info that I left out of the first post. I don't know how handy it will be, but here we go:
The presentation is coded in AS2. It was built before AS3 came out, and since all the projects we've done have been very similar, it's easier (and cheaper) to just swap out some files and graphics than fixing what ain't broken.
I'm using Flash CS3 on a Mac running 10.6.6, but I've also tried publishing it on a PC with Windows XP in CS3 as well.
The only place the .flv files don't work is in a web browser on a PC, regardless of whether it's embedded in an .html file or if opened by the browser. If I view the .swf files in Flash Viewer, the .flvs load right up, and they work when I view them directly in an .flv player as well.

    Hello,
    If I click on a link to a PDF-file, this PDF-file does not display in browser eventhough I have checked "Display PDF in browser" (Preferences ==> Internet ==> Web Browser Options) but instead Adobe Reader X opens the PDF-file outside browser. What is wrong?
    Thank you for your help.

    I solved the problem. I used Internet Explorer, 64-bit. If I use Internet Explorer 32-bit the PDF-file displays in browser. If I use Internet Explorer 64-bit Adobe Reader X opens the PDF-file outside browser.

    I placed the lightbox widgets in several pages on my website (http://www.goodwinsanimations.com/) on the pages linked via the Projects and Design page but I the widget is not displaying at all, or only partially in some cases. This is my personal portfolio of work so I really need this fixed asap.

    The menu at the top (widget) works but the dropdowns do not display except in the Preview within Muse.

    Hello,
    Could you please do a File>Preview site in Browser and check if it works fine there?
    Also, please do a File>Export as HTML and export your website files in a local folder. Check if the local copy works fine or not.
    If not, please send your .muse file to us at [email protected] If your file is greater than 20mb you can use something like Adobe SendNow or SendThisFile.
    Please do not forget to mention link to this forum in your e-mail so that we can identify the file.

  • CS5.5 swf fine CS6 swf does not display in browser

    I did a flash project for a client in CS5 and CS5.5. I have done periodic updates in 5.5 over the last year with no problems. I just did another update and now that I'm in CS6 I saved as a CS6 .swf. But when I upload the index.html file to the server I do not get the swf. I get a whitebox with the title page the the player securuty message. I then created two index.html files, one with the CS5.5 swf and one with the CS6 swf, uploaded to the server ( site server) and I get the same thing, CS5.5 isplays and CS6 does not. I looked at the embed codes and the only diference I see is the CS6 calls the Flash 15 player. I'm up to date as far as players go so I tried to change the 15 to player 11 ( thats the palyer the CS5.5 swf calls) and I still get the same result.
    below are two links to the files, can someone see if there is another issue here causing this as I'm lost.
    http://goldenfilms.tv/indexGOOD.html - works fine ( swf was created in CS5.5 )
    http://goldenfilms.tv/indexCS6.html - DOES NOT DISPLAY ( swf was created in CS6)
    anyone?
    R

    yes, you're using problematic embedding code:  <param name="swfversion" value="12.0.0.0" />
    open your fla with cs 5.5 or cs6, whichever you want to use.  publish an html file using flash and test with that html file.  if there's no reason to check for flash player version, don't tick "detect flash player version" in the publish settings.  if there is a reason to check , tick it and specify the required player version (and pick a version that currently exists).

  • Math symbols not displaying in browser

    I'm attempting to study for CLEP exams on Instacert's website and have encountered a problem with the math symbols not displaying correctly.  I did the recommendations by the webmaster and tried Google Chrome, then Safari instead of Mozilla's Firefox, and I have downloaded the webmaster's suggested window's font (symbol.ttf), to no avail.  He's not familiar with Apple at all, so he's no further help.
    I have attached a screenshot of one of the pages not displaying the symbols correctly.  As you can see, the math union and intersection symbols look foreign and some of the other math symbols are not correct in other web pages:

    Everybody, report preview problems to apple at:

    My biggest problem in preview 4.0 is it freezes while trying to view large images across four apple LCD's. Sometimes I see a gray screen.

  • Css not displaying in browser preview

    I have created 6 pages for a website in Dreamweaver, and as I worked I continuously previewed all my pages in Google Chrome.  Then near the end of my work, the css formatting stopped previewing in the browser.  The html shows up correctly, but the css does not show up at all for any page.  They all show up perfectly in Live view, but not in the browser preview.  I have checked the links for the css files, and I have tried multiple browsers.  Any suggestions??
    Thanks so much!

    Are you working within a defined local site folder?  This is necessary for DW to manage your links and assets.  Go to Site > New Site or Manage Sites.  See screenshot.
    Are your links to external style sheets correctly pointing to files in your site folder or incorrectly pointing to files:/// on your local hard drive?  See link below for details on how to link HTML pages to external style sheets.

  • .flv not playing in browser

    Hi Everyone-
    I'm facing an enormous conundrum and I was hoping somebody here may be able to shed some light on it.
    I have a flash presentation that presents .flv files to the user. I have the main menu in a .swf file, and when the user selects one of the segments to watch, it calls up another .swf to display inside with an .flv embedded in it. This is so we only have to program one little popup menu and it frames all the videos. The presentation is going to be burned to a disc so a user will be able to watch it locally without having to be connected to the internet. Initially, I would just publish a Flash projector file and be done with it, but the disc kicks up the AutoPlay program on a PC, and the client has indicated that this simply will not do; it has to run right out of the box without the user doing anything. I offered what I figured would be a benign solution; embed the .swf into an html file and have it launch in the browser upon insertion.
    Here is where it gets sticky: The whole presentation works just fine ... until I try watching it in a browser on a PC. The .flv file simply will not play. At all. The file works fine if I open the containing .swf, and the menu .swf, locally or deployed to a server. I've tried re-embedding and re-publishing on a Mac and a PC, I've tried fixing the Javascript call in the HTML file, I've checked my video codecs (on2 VP6) I've put all the files on the root of the disc, I've put all the files in a sub-folder of the disc, I've checked, double-checked and double-dog-checked all of my pathnames, tested it in every browser on every computer I can get my hands on... but still no dice.
    The bizarre part is that all of the similar projects we've done are not working as well, so I can't check how the previous ones were set up for any kind of comparison. I'm sorry if this a long-winded post, but after hours of research and publishing and moving, I'm not any closer to a solution. I'm really hoping someone can help me out here.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Park

  • Flash CS4 loader class content not displaying in browser

    Hello,
    I'm very new at Dreamweaver and actionscript so any help would be greatly appreciated!
    I'm on a PC and created a simple gallery in flash cs4 to load images on a button click.  The images are being loaded with a loader class.  When I test the gallery in flash the images load correctly.  However, I inserted the .swf into Dreamweaver and when I uploaded the page onto the server, the buttons and the animation worked correctly, but none of the images were being displayed.  I tested it in both Firefox and IE and it did not work in either browser.
    I thought maybe the files were in the incorrect location, but everything is in the same file, including the .swf and the images.  I'm also using TweenMax and all those files are also together with the .swf.
    I also ensured that I had the latest version of the Flash player, but it still is not working.
    Thank you!

    Thank you for the quick response!  I am not actually using XML - I am loading the images from a folder.  Here is my code:
    function clicker(e:MouseEvent):void
    var myMC:MovieClip = e.currentTarget as MovieClip;
    switch(myMC.name){
      case"_button1":
       loader.load(new URLRequest("imgs/image01.jpg"));
       break;
      case"_button2":
       loader.load(new URLRequest("imgs/image02.jpg"));
       break;
    //loader class
    var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,placeimage,false,0,true);
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR,errorhandler,false,0,true) ;
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS,preload,false,0,true);
    this.addChild(loader);
    //handler for the loader
    function errorhandler(e:IOErrorEvent):void
    trace(e);
    function preload(e:ProgressEvent):void
    trace(e.bytesLoaded);
    The imgs folder is in the same folder as my .swf and has been uploaded.  Could there be something wrong with the links?

  • Uploaded website will not display in browser

    HI Everyone,
    I am stumped.
    Long story but I'll get to why I'm here. I have spent the last few hours trying to get my new site to show up on the net after it has been published. I have tried a number of things. I have to note that my previous site created in Iweb displayed correctly and there were no problems at all uploading/publishing.
    I deleted the old site off of the server (wmec.ca), tried uploading via Iweb FTP to the public directory where the old site was. Error message saying in the browser (safari) that the website is unavailable. Iweb only published 1/3 of the files via FTP which I thought odd which lead me to the next step.
    Deleted old site off of server (wmec.ca), tried uploading the new folder (wmec.ca) to my server via FTP software (filezilla) to where the old folder of the same name was. I get the error message in Safari that there is no Index file. Even though there clearly is an index file, the browser can't seem to find it
    Any ideas what I can try?

    iWeb generates two index.html files - one outside the main folder and another inside.
    Perhaps the external one has not been uploaded. If that's the case, this should work...
    http://www.wmec.ca/Site-Name/
    Open your FTP application and look in the root folder on the server to see what's there.
    Is there an index.html file present outside of the main folder containing your website files?

  • Menu bar not displaying in browser preview.

    After inserting my menu bar it doesn't display when I preview it in my browser. I have a rectangle sectioned for my main navigation menu and the menu bar sits on top of it...could this be causing it to not be seen? Also, it showed only once after pinning it...but that isn't what I want because when the page scrolls up and down the menu sits stationary...but it allows it to show??
    Anyone have this issue or have a fix?
    Thanks,
    Lee

    <header> and <footer> are html5 semantic tags. Old non-html5 browsers (like IE8) don't know how to handle them without a little help.
    Add this code to your <head>
    <!--[if lt IE 9]>
         <script src="//html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script>
    <![endif]-->
    Or better yet, download the .js file and add it to your site, then link to it, that way you won't depend on third party servers keeping the file in the same location...

  • Programmed(AS3) components of swf do not display in browser

    Hi friends,
    I am new to Flash and tools, however I have searched Internet, tried various suggestions for flash embed before posting the question here. The issue is that swf plays in Flash Player but when I view html (generated by Flash Professional CC to embed swf) in a browser only Flash components that I drew on stage display. Any customization done to flash components using AS3 are lost. Other components such as seek bar coded in AS3 do not diplay and none of the functionality coded using AS3 play/work either. For example clicking on play button does nothing (I have tried about 3-4 browsers - this is not specific to a browser). The AS3 is inframe coded; there is no class file outside swf (I know this is not good but for now that is how it is).
    I have made this swf using Flash Professional CC where I also generate the html to embed the generated flash. I have tried various embed methods they had this same issue. I have a feeling that all AS3 related stuff does not work when used in a browser  for some reason while they work when used in Player. I have an older version of my swf playing well here (Flash CS4?): http://shruti.hejje.com  I have also checked all settings for weeks. I have a feeling I have missed something basic to get in to this trouble.
    I am not allowed to post the code here because of copyright issues so posting the swf which is here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/shrutipettige/files/Windows/ShrutiSAv1.2.zip (I have a newer version but that has the same problem). This issue is preventing me from making new version of the app available online for users. I really appreciate any help suggestion you can provide in solving this. I will duly credit those who help me resolve this issue on the website where I want to make this available.
    Regards
    Ragu

    I will try to create a link to the problematic embed later today (Reason for not having link is that there is a working swf in the link). Here is the html for now (audio will play only when swf is played from the server so- not playing in the local html is expected): You can put this in a html file to see what is happening. To see how it should look and work locally you can download: http://sourceforge.net/projects/shrutipettige/files/Windows/ShrutiSAv1.2.zip/download or simply look at screen shot: http://a.fsdn.com/con/app/proj/shrutipettige/screenshots/Shruti1.2.PNG

  • Website content does not display in browser

    On the BlackBerry 9630 web browser users are no longer able to view content in our internal website. After browsing to the website they only get the background and a small image along the top then no more content displays. If I view the html source all the content exists, it just doesn't show. This site was working without a problem a few weeks ago and the website hasn't changed in months.
    I've tried clearing the cache, tried it on a new install, multiple users. Deployed the website to a test web server with similar settings. Always the same thing. Note that if I load this up using the smartphone simulator I have no problems.
    This website uses window integrated authentication, master pages, and Microsoft's Ajax.
    If I make a page that has content outside of an ajax updated area the content outside of the ajax panel but the content inside the panel or in the Telerik "ajaxified" content is invisible.
    I need this to work, where can I go from here?
    Edit: Now it's different, maybe tested wrong. No content shows up on my test page if I add an ajaxpanel to part of it but everything exists if I view source. Same behavior in simulator but works fine in standard browsers. Main website still works fine in simulator though.

    Works fine here in Windows 7 IE9.
    There are two tiny errors in the html (stray </p> and </a> tags) but they shouldn't break it.
    Are you sure it isn't a caching issue?
    In IE9, hit F12 then Ctrl + R then Yes and refresh the page.
