Assuming all the correct files are being uploaded the chances
are that
the server doesn't have the correct mimetype for .flv files.
This should
be: video/x-flv
If you can't change/add this setting yourself you will need
to get the
server admin to do it.

  • FLV not showing up as format in Media Encoder

Please help me - I am trying to export a video clip I edited as FLV for optimal YouTube format, but FLV is not showing up as an option in Adobe Media Encoder.
A screenshot to demonstrate that FLV is missing where it should be:
Is there something I am obviously doing wrong?
    Thanks!

I may be wrong but I dont thinK FLV encoding was available for that version. I dont think that came until CS3.

  • FLV not showing in Captivate 5

Hi Everyone, I have uploaded some FLV files to a flash media server and inserted them into my Captivate project. When I publish the project (locally) the project plays but the FLV files don't appear. Any Ideas what could be the problem? The video plays properly in preview mode, and the player resizes correctly when I chose "Auto Detect Size" so it would seem that path to the server is correct. The video files were encoded before upload using Adobe Media Encoder. I didn't expressly include metadata as I assumed that AME would add that automatically (though I may well be wrong on this).
    Any help gratefully received.
    Many Thanks
    J

Solved my own problem. The flash player was blocking the external content from showing, but not warning me that it was doing so. THe problem was solved by making the captivate projects folder a safe location under the flash player security settings.

  • Load Movie, FLV not showing up

I'm publishing to Flash Player 8 from CS3. I have a MC placed
on main timeline that loads an external MC onto level 10 of the
    main timeline.
    code:
    on(release){
    loadMovieNum("video60.swf",10);
The external mc, "video60.swf" is linked to an FLV file. The
FLV, SWF and the "AC_RunActiveContent.js" are definitely uploaded
to the web server. When I preview in Flash locally it all works
fine. When I open the file locally in a browser (same result in
three browsers), it works fine. When I go to the URL, "video60.swf"
loads (I see type in the mc), but I do not see the video.
Could this be a server issue? Any other possibilities?
Need a solution quickly, of course.
    Thanks.

hmmm....nothing obvious jumping out for either of us then.
Someone else might know something there... but I'm stumped.
All I'm left with is what I'd try to do to track it down (I
haven't tried googling, so that would be first...but I guess you
already tried that.) Here's what I'd check.
What happens if you (just for testing) load the video60.swf
directly into the html page .... i.e. not into the other swf.
Beyond that I would try some trace code and possibly a try
catch block around the contentPath setting and play methods. Use
FlashTracer plugin in firefox to see what comes gets traced.
Another alternative is the xray component to see whats
    happening.
Because things load much quicker from local it may be some
event related thing as well... but if it is then I can't think what
it might be and presumably that would also work the second time
once the flv was cached by your browser.

  • Flv not showing "sometimes"

I have a flv inserted in a page using CS4, i have uploaded the relevant files to the server (the scripts folder that DW creates). Most of the time it will load in Firefox, but not always and my client says they can't see it in Safari. When running the page thru browsershots, I do see the video in some versions of safari, but it is missing in some other browsers... I am wondering if it's because of the file size (4.5 MB) and just taking forever to load? I really have not worked with flv's before, just swf's. Any advice would be appreciated. I have no idea how to make the file smaller also...if that is indeed what the problem is.
Here is a link to the page:

I just tried it on Safari 5 and it loaded fine.  Is there a specific version you see it happening in?

  • .flv not showing in .swf movie on website

I have created a .fla (Macromedia Flash 8) and have imported
a .flv video into it. When I view the video in Flash 8 (control -
test movie), both play fine. When I upload the published .swf file
to an .html document on our website, the .fla portion (graphics in
our case) plays beautifully, however the .flv (actress video) does
not. Do I need special code in the .html file or does anyone have
    any words of wisdom?

It sounds like the server mime type error that others have
had on this site. This is a solution found by Newsgroup User Paul:
    quote:
I had the same problem. they added this mime type
The mime type that was added was: video/x-flv

  • FLV file not showing up on page

I am a novice with Dreamweaver. I created a site several
years ago using just Contribute 2. Yesterday I used Adobe Media
Encoder to encode some QTs to FLV (.f4v) files using a preset for
Flash 8 compatible FLV files. I created a completely new html page
in Dreamweaver and inserted the FLV file onto the page. When I use
"live view" the page works and plays the FLV file perfectly. Then I
save the file and save to the server. The page updates perfectly
EXCEPT for the flv file. In Firefox it says I need the latest Flash
version, (which I don't) in Safari, it just shows up as a blank
spot on the page, but there is a warning at the bottom of the page
and it allows you to see what the error is.
    The browsers "activity" window says:
    http://www.veralith.com/FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
    not found
Did part of the code - the FLVplayer - not get uploaded to
the server maybe? What could have gone wrong and how do I fix it. I
did not write special code to get the FLV file to play on the web,
I just used the insert function and thought that Dreamweaver was
going to do the rest for me "behind the scenes."
Any help would be much appreciated. I read as many "help"
files as I could, but I just don't know what I'm searching for. The
website is www.veralith.com. I'm trying to update the "demo" page
by adding about two dozen FLV files, eventually. Right now, there's
only supposed to be one on that page, but it's not showing
    up.

Hmm. I just did a test with CS3 and it did exactly that.
    1. Created a new HTML page and saved it in the defined site
    folder
    2. Insert->Media->Flash Video
    3. Browse to the .flv file (also in the local site)
    4. Chose a skin
    5. [OK]
    6. Save
A dialog box appeared informing me that it created a Scripts
    folder and
that I should upload that folder to my server.
There are now two .swf files in the same folder as the new
    .html file.
    They were not there before.
    1. FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
    2. Clear_Skin_1.swf

  • Flv files not showing in LMS

    Hi
I have imported a .flv file into Captivate 4 but when I view it my LMS it does not show.
I have read a lot of threads but I can't seem to get it to work.
One of the wierdest things is that it was working perfectly.
Whilst trying to get it to work I noticed that when I publish it to a folder (non zip) and play the .swf file, it works.  As soon, as I zip it via Captivate or winzip, and play the .swf file, it appears to lose the link and therefore doesnt show.
Am I barking up the wrong tree?
    Please help me.
    Thanks

    Jp,
Thanks for the info. I did check with Tech Support from the LMS, and they assured me that the LMS does support .flv files. However, our online modules are launched from a webserver separate from the LMS, and that server needed to have the proper MIME type configured. By default, Windows 2003 Server does not have an associated MIME type to support deploying FLVs.
Specifically, it needed to be set up to recognize .flv files with the correct file association and content type specified. That took care of it.

  • Flv option showing up on one computer but not another.

at work on one computer the flv option in Compressor shows up when i add a "QuickTime export Component preset." however, it doesn't show up on one of the other computers. I don't remember if i did anything to get the flv option available in the first place. so i'm wondering if any body knows why it's not on the other computer. Do i not have the right version of flash on the computer?

Thank you I was having the same problem...I had an export to flash working.. then I had to reformat.. and not it is gone.
so I copied all the missing component ( FLV and a few others) however they are not showing up in compressor.

  • Flv skin does not show

I can not get my the skin to display on my streaming .flv
    view it at
    streaming
    .flv
Any help is very much appreciated!
I have applied the skin in the fla and it shows up fine when
I preview it but does not show when it is on the net.
Thanks guy, this is a great forum!

    Hi there
Are you referring to the "Skin" as in the playback controls for the FLV itself? Or the overall playback controls for Captivate?
I suppose the logical step to take is to determine if your issue lies with Captivate generically or only this project. My guess is that it's only this project.
To easily confirm things, create a new blank project and publish that. See if it behaves as one might expect. If so, your Captivate project has an issue that you need to address. If not, you may need to reinstall Captivate.

  • Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at http:// (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Is this a webpage that contains a link to a flv file? Please post a link to the page and tell us which link(s) are the problem flv files or else post a link to the .flv file itself.
Alternately, click on one of the sample FLV File links on this page and tell us exactly what happens:
    http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/video/tutorial/example-flv.html
It might also help if you post the exact error message, including the path to the flv file.
    '''Note:'''
Depending on how you have Firefox set up, clicking on a FLV File link will either save the FLV file to your computer or Firefox may open it automatically in an external application right after downloading (Firefox may ask you first). Firefox itself can't play FLV files so you need a "helper" application (or a plugin for flv files, if ther is one. You can see if Firefox is already set up to download or open FLV files by going to Firefox Preferences and looking in the Applications list. Find the FLV file type in the list and, if the action is "Open with", it should show the application that can play FLV files (e.g., VLC Media Player or Perian). See [[Managing filetypes]] for more information.

  • Flash CS6 not showing in FCP 7.03

I recently upgraded (well, for me it was an upgrade) to an older  Mac Pro
    Processor  2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  16 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics  ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)
I have installed FCP 7.03 (and in a seperate folder the hated FCP X)
I also have Adobe Creative Suite CS6 installed.
On my previous MacBook Pro I could export from a video sequence as a Flash Movie (.FLV). I could do this using one of the options in "Export Using QuickTime Conversion" On that machine I was running Flash CS4.
For some reason the Flash export option is not showing now. Flash is properly installed and opens just fine.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks
    A.S.

"Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?"
Probably nothing. FCP 7 was last updated in 2010; Flash CS6 was released in 2012. Incompatibility is to be expected.
There may be a conversion program, but it's most likely you'll find it on Adobe's Flash forum.
    Good luck

  • Flex 4 Video player not showing the video in any other machines

I created a new Flex 4 project, and used Video display component and source was set to a file in src folder. It works fine in my computer. But after moving the content from bin-release  to another machine, video is not showing.
The flv file is in the bin-release folder.

At a quick glance, all your files seem to be there, but I
    notice your
Scripts folder is in the site root folder, and all your other
    files are in
the special folder. Might be something wonky there.
If you are on a Linux server, you might double check the
    upper * lower case
matching between your links and file/folder names.
Does your host confirm the mime type support for flv ?

  • FLVPlayback controls are not showing in other people computer on there browser...

    Hi,
In my project I have to play a flv vedio in swf file so in place a FLVPlayback component in one movieclip and when I hv to show I make that movie clip visible and play the vedio from starting.
Its working fine on my computer but FLVPlayback controls (play pause button, seek bar volume controls) are not showing in other people computer on there browser...

Then set "base" attribute to "swf" or "./swf" (relative path - can't remember which ), or absolute path to the "swf" directory.

  • FLV not working in DW CS2

I have noticed a lot of posts on FLV files not showing when
using DW in CS2. I am using Leopard (10.5.1) on a Mac and i have
done everything according to the help files. I have Flash and have
used Flash encoder to encode to both Flash 7 and Flash 8 using the
the Sorensen Spark encoder as well as On2 VP6, then using the
insert Flash Movie to insert .flv file. Nothing works. Any ideas
    welcome.

I think you'll find that all of them are related to user
    errors, however.
In your case, you would use INSERT | Media > Flash Video -
    is that what
    you've done?
