FLV QuickTime encoder... Where's it at?

I have installed Design Premium CS4
Playing with video in Photoshop Extended,  File/Export/Render Video  There's no FLV option.  I've looked high and low for this "FLV QuickTime encoder"
This issue was briefly touched on here:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/1534685#1534685
but without any real resolution,  seems the only solution is to have had Flash CS3 previously installed and you would have had the encoder already.  But Flash CS4 doesn't seem to install this encoder anymore.?
Adobe Photoshop help file says this:http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop/11.0/WSB8B861CE-EBFB-4941-8587-A7572FA2EF69a.html
QuickTime export file formats
Flash Video (FLV)
Adobe® Flash® Video is the Adobe format for streaming audio and video over the web and other networks. (To use this format, you must first install an FLV QuickTime encoder).
Is there some way/place to download this encoder so that this option will be enabled in Photoshop.
I know I can just export as a .MOV file then convert it later in Media Encoder,  but why tell me about an option,  and then not give us the encoder to use the option.

No, I don't think you can download any CoDec pack containing the proper extension for legal reasons. If memory serves, the respective QTX file was part of 1 or 2 QT installers way back then, and then, probably due to intervention from Adobe, no longer. However, I think you could still install it via the automated CoDec updates for a while after that.... Well, in any case, it's probably moot. To solve your dilemma (and for sure this will be the "proper" future way of doing things), just download the Flash Catalyst public Beta from Adobe Labs. This should allow you to get the best of both worlds.

  • Quicktime encoding using x264 encoder failing in AME 6.0.2.81 and Mac OS 10.8.2

I'm trying to encode an x264 codec Quicktime using AME 6.0.2.81 and Mac OS 10.8.2. I also tried it with two versions of the x264 encoder which I downloaded from here: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24173/x264encoder
This encoder works 100% fine and better than the h264 encoder when using Apple Compressor and Apple QT Pro V7. I've been however trying to transition all of my video encodes to AME due to a number of reasons: dynamic link to AE, Premiere and the interface to name a few.
Everytime I start an encode it gives me an error and I hear that blasted sheep. lol. This is what the log displays, which is frankly probably no help to anyone.
    - Encoding Time: 00:00:00
    01/13/2013 04:48:10 PM : Encoding Failed
    Export Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
I've also tried to specify the bitrate and have had no luck. Whether I specify the bitrate or not, I still get the error. The source video has been PNG sequences and ProRes movies at 1920x1080, 29.97fps. Both result in the same unknown error.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

I know this is pretty old now, but I thought I'd add a reply for those who are having this issue. I just had AME CC 2014 fail on me today, and this is the FIRST thing I've ever tried to render with it. I'm using a TGA sequence and exporting to an X264 codec Quicktime MOV file at 720p. I restarted a few times, repaired permissions etc. and nothing worked except for the following.
    I went to:
    Library/Preferences/Adobe/Adobe Media Encoder/8.0/
I deleted the entire 8.0 folder (or you could delete whatever version you are having problems with). I then restarted AME and the preferences were recreated and I could successfully use the x264 codec again. Hope this helps someone.

  • Flash won't import mp4 from Camtasia, demands an FLV; Media encoder won't convert to FLV; H264 isn't accepted either.

Flash won't accept the basic mp4 output from Camtasia, it tells me to use Media Encoder to convert it to FLV.
Media Encoder won't convert to F4V or FLV.
I used Media Encoder to convert to H264, but Flash will still not import it.
Could somebody please tell me the best export / convert / import options for getting Camtasia video into Flash (as an embedded video - can't do streaming).
    Any tips much appreciated.
Flash Pro CC 2014 and Camtasia Studio 8.4.4.

Get Media Encoder CS6, which supports conversion to f4v/flv:

  • Adobe Media Encoder where is it?

I saw the media coder in a lynda.com tutorial and it was presented as if it were a stand alone app and it shows up on the adobe site as part of the CC, but it's not listed under the apps on the creative cloud. Where can I find it?
    Thanks

It is actually standalone, but not linked in the start menu (if you're on Windows). I'm not 100% sure, but I think if you start the *.exe and drag 'n drop files onto the window, you can encode them to some output formats.

  • How to have a fullscreen button in flv player , and where to find other skin player ?

    hi !
i currently use Dreamweaver CS5 to build a page that plays a FLV video.
i use the insert flv media feature from dreamweaver, to insert the flash player into the html code.
    it works fine but :
    - it didn't have a fullscreen button (none of the 3 skins (clear , halo, corona)
so where can we download more skin with more feature (dreamweaver compatible off course) ?
    thanks for help
    Mike

this solution is not profesional at all. we're a firm...
OK. DW doesn't provide much.  Short of building your own custom player in Flash Professional,  look in the Adobe Exchange (see link below)

  • Media Encoder: where is the "range" box?

    Hey there,
I was just tweaking some properties in the media encoder when I tried to switch to "only export a preselected range of my clip". In Premiere CS3 there was this box right below format called 'RANGE'. Where'd that go???
    Thanks
    FAZ

While the output range will default to the work area you can adjust the range using the triangles shown on the left hand lower portion of the export settings dialog box just below the preview screen.  Move the top indicator to the desired “in” timecode position and then press the left triangle next to the screen size pull down menu – repeat for the out point only use the right triangle.

  • Command line Quicktime encoding for windows?

I think you can script quicktime to encode on the Mac using applescript, but can you do the samething for windows?
    Maybe something like:
    c:\quicktime.exe /profile /inputfile /outputfile
and viola! Out comes my encoded files!
I'd love to automate my encoding process but I can't seem to find a way to do it.

  • Debayering and quicktime encoding

    Hello,
    I'm using netbeans 5.x under ubuntu 8.04 with J2SE, JDK 1.6.
I have built an application that pilots a digital camera. I now have to transfer images from the camera to the pc, so I create a socket and get the datas into an array, no problem on this side.
The thing is, I now have to first debayer those raw datas, and then to encode the frames into a 10 bit uncompressed quicktime file.
Is there someone who has already worked on something like this in Java ? Everywhere I look it seems the jmf can't handle it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Dan.

    Hi,
No one can confirm that it's not possible to encode quicktime 10 bits uncompressed from raw datas (RGB pixels) with the jmf ?
    Thank you,
    Dan.

  • Quicktime encoding and DVDS pro serialisation

Having problems with submitting a 47 min FCP timeline for compressor to encode I decided to try using the quicktime method to get an Mpeg 2 file. I am stopped by the message that my DVDS Pro must be serialised first in order to run the Qt MPEG encoder. I have uninstalled and reinstalled FCP Studio 5.1 plus all the updates, tossed the FCP Studio ID file and re registered but to no avail.
Blaming Leopard after which I have had problems with my 5 year old mac I have, on an external drive, installed OS 10.4.9 and FCP Studio 5.1 and all the updates ( ten in number), again with no improvement. In fact I had to manually install the mpeg 2 component as it did not appear in the list of options.
    Any suggestions?

I have managed to solve this one in a roundabout way. I have again uninstalled DVDS 4. Reinstalled DVDS2 ( still had the disc though I surrendered the FCP 4 install disc to update ) with its registration number. Updated to DVDS 4 and the encoding to MPEG 2 worked. Unfortunately the result is still jagged video.

  • Quicktime Encoding for 720*480

    Hi,
I have a 3 minute movie that I want to deliver under 10mb at 720*480.
I tried matching the settings that were used for the Final Cut demos on the Apple site (h264/90kbps) - but every thing comes out horribly pixelated.
Does anyone have some good standard settings for Quicktime exports? I seem to be making it up as I go along here...
    Much thanks in advance...

MPEG-2 is for DVD only I beleive. But don't quote me...compression is FAR from my forté. The only thing I can suggest is testing out various codecs and see what they look like. Encode only a 15 second section so that you aren't wasting a whole lot of valuable time.
Yes, there are updates for your setup available online. They will go only to a certain point, however. When they hit the wall for the PAID updates.

  • Quicktime encoding vs. iMovie

    Hi!
Does Quicktime Pro give much better results than exporting compressed files from iMovie? I've been thinking of buying Quicktime Pro, but I really need some reassurance before dropping the cash.
    Thanks!
    iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

QuickTime Player with QuickTime Pro does give you a lot of editing abilities that in many cases would mean you didn't even need to use iMovie. But for just exporting, the options in iMovie's Expert Settings area are the same that you would get in QuickTime Player.
I suspect that if you used iMovie just for compressing a QuickTime movie that iMovie would have converted the file to DV format when importing it, and going via DV isn't a good idea if you don't have to.

  • Quicktime 7.1.3 not showing the Flash FLV Exporter option.

I have a macbook with FCP 5.1.2, Quicktime 7.1.3 and Flash Pro 8 installed.
The same as with my G5, but different release of FCP (FCP 4.5 HD in G5)
On my G5 all is fine. I see the FLV export plug in.
The problem is in my Macbook : I can't see the FLV export plug option in Quicktime (export) nor in FCP (file>export>via Qt conversion).
I've made the same installation process in both machines.
Perhaps a problem with the Flash 8 Professional installation on Intel Macs ?
    (That installation was well finished)
Anyway, I can encode with the FLV standalone encoder that comes with Flash 8 pro, but sometimes the plug in is a shortcut way to get a FLV file on the fly.
Could anyone help me to resolve that situation ?
Many thanks in advance. I always got a solution from you Guys!
    Daniel

    QuickTimeKirk, thanks for the reply.
Yes, I think as you that the problem is from FLV exporter from Flash 8. It is not Universal. I will not go backward with QT. I prefer to wait until the UB Flash 8 Pro see the light..... or Flash Pro 9 (for sure it will be Universal)
    Thanks again !

  • FLV not showing up as format in Media Encoder

Please help me - I am trying to export a video clip I edited as FLV for optimal YouTube format, but FLV is not showing up as an option in Adobe Media Encoder.
A screenshot to demonstrate that FLV is missing where it should be:
Is there something I am obviously doing wrong?
    Thanks!

I may be wrong but I dont thinK FLV encoding was available for that version. I dont think that came until CS3.

  • Need to download QuickTime 7.5.5 - where can I find it?

I have a mac osx 10.4.11 and cannot run the latest version of QuickTime. Where can i download the older version?

BTW, questions about QuickTime for Mac will generally get the fastest and most accurate responses if you post in the QuickTime for Macintosh forum rather than here in the QuickTime for Windows forum.
And just so you know, there is a version of QuickTime 7.6.4 for Mac OS X 10.4:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL838
That's the last version of QT for Tiger, I believe.
