FLV size

I uploaded an FLV file. When I click on the 'Play Video' link
in the presentation, the FLV opens in a tiny window and the viewer
must resize the window. I think the video looks best at 100%
(480x360 for my video). I'd like for the window to automatically
open with the video sized at 100%. Does anyone know a way to does
this without using a SWF?
Thanks

There is no good workaround for video in Presenter at this
time. FLVs in the presenter panel are too small and don't offer the
control you need while SWFs in the body of a slide have horrendous
issues with long waits for buffering and are unusable for clips
over 2-3 minutes.
You also cannot make the video large enough in most cases
without compounding the problems and the Sorenson codec looks
terrible at large screen sizes.
Clients just hated the product for streaming video so our
solution was to build our own custom add-in that automatically
launches a new, frameless window of any desired size (even
fullscreen if required) that plays the video using the On2 VP6
codec. This gives you the ability to play content of unlimited
length - full length movies are no problem - and the window
automatically closes as soon as it's finished playing. No user
intervention is required.
You can even show a movie with sub-title overlays so a single
source file can be used for a multilinual audience. Uploading your
presentation to the server is a snap because you're not embedding
the movie in the slideshow each time. It's really very elegant and
works like a charm. You can see a sample at
http://Train.RefinedData.com/RefinedVideo
and I'd be happy to supply anyone with a free trial sample to play
with.
The solution works just as well in meetings and meeting
recordings.
All the best,

  • Rendering in flv, size problem

    hi everyone,
i am using the after effect cs5 version, and when chosing the flv rendering format, the rendered area of my composition changes.
hence, when imported in flash, the working area around the imported item is not the same than the composition size in after effect.
it it probably more clear with the screenshots i will attach to the document.
when exported in quicktime it works fine, but i must have a transparent background, so i have to export it in flv to make it work
if someone knows anything about this, any help would be welcome

That's never gonna work. FLV has certain format constraints and that's what the cute little triangle in the left bottom corner of the output module is trying to tell you. Click on it for magic...

  • FLV size estimation vs actual size

I have a ongoing project where I need to export an FLV file of around 10MB. This happens flawlessly in CS6. However, in CC, ME shows me a projected size of 10mb but outputs a 35mb file (thats being 3x off!!).
The settings are the same on both CS6 and CC. CS6 gives me a file of around 10-11mb.
I have tried this on different machines and the results are the same - so it has to be a ME bug?
I am not sure what to do now and have not seen this issue reported anywhere.

  • Exporting HD file to an .flv, aspect ratio is off

I am trying to export from FCE a .mov file and transform it into an .flv for upload on a newspaper website (the only file type our creaky admin alllows). The footage was shot with a Canon Vixia HD AVCHD camera and brought into FCE at 1440 X 1080 and 29.97 fps. My usual workflow is to export it out as a master .mov vile and then take it into Streamclip or iSkysoft Video Converter and transform it into an .flv.
But every time I do it, no matter what settings I tinker with, the output .flv file is clipped and footage on the screen is clipped on the right and left sides. Is it because HD video is 16:9 and the .flv size is 4:3? But I am only being offered 480-320, 640-480 and 1280-720 in export options for .flv with iSkysoft and frame rates from 20, 24, 12 an keep original frame rate. Tried these all and still getting the clippings.
Any advice as once again I run up against the shoals of transcoding?
    Douglas

I finally had to export the file as an .avi and then transcode it into an .flv using Flash Media Encoder, an old workflow and which produced a video with some artifacts and color issues. I am just getting used to shooting with the Canon Vixia and its HD files and any tips for outputting to better quality with an .flv format is most welcome:

  • I need high quality at smaller MB size!!

I am looking for a solution for a problem i have been having.
I have a .avi file that weighs 156MB. I want to convert it into .flv and play it over the web as a course. As you well know the .flv size i am loking for is around 30 MB. I have tried Flixpro for conversion, but it takes 5 hours to do the conversion and since the video has many fast moving flash animations in it; those areas have very poor quality.
Then i tried Adobe flash media encoder. It takes far less time to do the same compression but gives a size that is even bigger than the .avi file!! and the out is better but it jitters here and there which is not at all aceptable. I am confused and need to come up with a solution at the earliest. So, any help is much appreciated.
Anything i am missing in the process?? Please advice.
    thanks in advance

    What's your budget?
Canon HF series is likely your best bet - These are high definition camcorders with pretty good lowlight performance, and they all have microphone input jacks.
You may need an adapter or level converter to connect line-level outputs from your soundboard to the mic-level inputs.
Another option is to go to some of JVC, Panasonic, or Canon's pro-level gear.  These are going to be very expensive though.

  • How many FLVs before you get problems?

I have built a small project in Captivate 4 (30 screens with 15 FLV files ranging in duration from 30 - 60 ; FLV sizes are between 3 and 6 mb).  I am encountering the following issue:
Course plays fine when FLVs are unsynched
FLVs "stutter" randomly when synched to project
The video was shot at 29.97 FPS but I have re-exported it at 30 FPS.  I also set preload to 100% and strangely this reduced the severity of the issue but did not fix it (I say strange as the FLVs should not be affected by the pre-loader)
Has anyone else experienced this issue?  My questions are:
How can I synch FLVs without stutter during playback
Is there a limt on the number of FLVs that can be included in an individual project?
Is there a limit on the total duration of FLV footage that can be included in a project?
Much zen and good wishes to all who reply (and potential consulting gigs!!!)
    Cheers

How many times do you get a new iPhone because of manufacturing  defects, before you can ask for an newer model?
You don't.  Apple's warranty provides for replacing your device with an identical model (same model, carrier, capacity & color).
And you aren't getting a new iPhone.  You'll be getting a remanufactured iPhone, which has gone through a more thorough inspection than any new iPhone ever does.
If you want a newer model, then trade-in or privately sell your current device and use the proceeds towards purchasing another device.

  • How to resize the embeded player in a page after it has loaded?

    Hi all
I'm working with Flash 8, with the FLV player component. The
player loads various flash videos (flv)
    that can have verious sizes.
I have set the autosize detection for the player. But I want
the size of the embeded player to also
change according to the size of the loaded flv.
For example, if the loaded flv is 100px by 100px, I want the
embeded player to be 100px by 100px (in
the html code). if the flv is 500px by 350px, i want the
embeded flav to change to that 500 x 350px.
As far as I know, the sizes of the flv file cannot be
detected with PHP or javascript, so only the
component can detect the flv size. Therefore I would need a
way to re-write the embeded code after
    the flv has loaded.
Anybody knows how to do that? Is it possible?

  • Studdering... buffer slower than movie

I have employed two different methods to embed an flv movie in webpage, but both result in studdering because the movie catches up to the buffer.   I can't figure out what is wrong... is the frame of 30fps rate too high?  is my method of embedding the files and playback wrong?  Or is it just a function of the viewer's internet speed?    Is there a better technique?   Any feedback and help is greatly appreciated.
    Method 1:
    Dreamweaver > Insert Flash Video
    FLV size:  13,428kb
    Play time: 2:31
    URL:
    http://waterstoneproductions.com/alternative-breaks-video.htm
    Code:
    Method 2:
Import video into Action Script 3.0 file (set frame rate of stage to 30fps) and publish swf
    FLV size: 15,124kb
    Play time: 2:31
    URL:  http://waterstoneproductions.com/waters-color-video.htm
    Code:

    Thanks for that clue!
The bitrate of the flv file is 600 kbps.  Codec used is On2 VP6.
Assuming the connection speed is 625 kbps or greater,  I'm guessing I should only need 1 second of buffering.  Is that correct?
I can control the buffer setting in the action script/swf file, but how would I control it if I just use Dreamweaver to insert the flv?
And which method is the preferred method, given the size of my video?

  • Audio misses starting on time

Hi, the title is a bit vague, but here is the problem
We are running FMS 4.03 (updated form 4.0) and at the same time we moved from 32 bit to 64 bit, AND we moved our app and data to the D drive
we stream (we have radio stations across the globe) by people out at a high quality.
since the move, the songs, promos, etc do not start at the start. Sometimes they are okay, but for many it misses the first few seconds - or as people now describe it as a 'hicup'.
went through the forum/help and increased the chunk size (from 4096 to 8192) in FMS.ini, and the cache flv size (from 500 to 2000) in Applications.xml
    but it is 'still' happening.
    any help wopuld be appreciated.
also if there is someone who is good at FMS and is very reasonable in charging as we are strapped for cash that can look at what we are **** that would also be great.

The "hiccups' continue but not for all
    changed in Application.xml :
    OutChunkSize = 8192
    turned off aggregated messages
    increased runtime size to 16384
    queue - off
    changed in FMS.ini:
    FLV Cache = 2000
anyone have any ideas to stop the stream hiccups as it would be much appreciated.
moving the app and data to a D drive wouldnt make any difference would it?
forgot to mention Im running it on Windows 2008 R2 32Gb RAM Quad 3.4Ghz  (1Gb connection) and FMS 4.03

  • Correct size for swf/FLV video files in Presenter 7?

    HI,
I'm trying to use Presenter with some screen capture and
other video an I cant seem to get the video to show up at the
correct size. If the video is scaled for screen capture it looks
really bad. I can build new resources or export to any type or
video/swf or FLV but I don't seem to be able to control how to get
this to work once in comes into presenter. Real video is OK as that
    scales well.

Personally, I record in Camtasia at 800x600, then have it
resize to 640x480. When I import that file into PowerPoint, it has
a huge white border around it, and I have to resize the video until
    there's no white border left.
It's still quite large on the screen, and the fact that
PowerPoint / Presenter seem to resample/rescale the video seems to
lower the quality some, which is why I often use heavy zoom effects
    within Camtasia.
I've tried using Captivate for creating the videos, but
honestly, it's faster and provides a better end result if I'm using
Camtasia. What software are you using?

  • Import FLV-- get wrong movie size

Importing an FLV file from Media Encoder into Dreamweaver CS4 page. Always get the wrong media size unless I'm using FLV-- same as source in Media Encoder. The results are very low in quality with that option. Otherwise I get a black letter-box image with black bands above and below the move.
I've done this 3-4 times with other movies on the same equipment and it always worked before. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

To upgrade or not??? that's a choice only you can make.
Final video file size is perhaps not as important as choosing the correct display dimensions and video bitrate for you target audiance and THEIR Internet download speeds.
As for "quality" as it relates to bitrate.... for your review:
    Video bit rate
Video bitrate is the minimum amount of data that must continually flow into the video player in order for the player to display that particular video uninterrupted. If that supply of data is not high enough, the video player will stop…. Wait for more data to download, then resume. The video bitrate is set as a parameter when the video is encoded.
One of the principle of goal setting is to "Begin with the end in mind". In this case it'll be very hard to give good recommendations because the end is not defined. So I'll just make a few assumptions and you can correct me as needed.
First, I'll assume that since you are converting to Flash, you want to deliver this video over the Internet. If that's true, then we'll have to make some assumptions on the Internet connection download speeds of your potential viewers. Let's just say that most have at least a 1.5Mb connection or faster.
OK, that would mean that a video bitrate of half that should usually provide a video download that is not interupped by buffering (most of the time anyway). So assuming a video bitrate of 750kbps, what would the optimum display dimensions be?
Before we decide, here's a little info about bitrate. For highest quality playback, the video bitrate is tied directly to the display dimensions. That is, the larger the display, the more incoming data is required to properly display the video. Think of bitrate in terms of a can of paint. If you have 1 quart of paint, you might be able to do a very nice job on a 32 X 24 foot area. But if you try to stretch that same amount of paint out over a 64 X 48 foot area, the coverage will not be nearly as good and you get poor results.
In the same way, a video displayed at 640 X 480 pixels will require 4 times the bitrate as a video displayed at 320 X 240 pixels to produce the same quality. So for example a video with a bitrate of 100kbps, displayed at 160 X 120 will produce the same quality results as a video with a bitrate of 1600kbps if displayed at 640 X 480.
So to boil it all down, video bitrates of 750kbps, even up to 1000kbps can usually get delivered of the Internet on most high speed connections. Higher bit rates may work for really fast connections but will cause problems for viewers with slower connections. Video display size has a direct bearing on the final quality. In the 750 to 1000kbps range, display size should be kept around 450 or 500 width max (and whatever height the aspect ratio calls for). Yes it can be displayed larger, but the quality will suffer.
Sound like your audio settings are fine, especially for Internet delivery.
As for framerate, maintain the original raw video framerate for best results. So if the video was shot at 24fps, leave it.
As for video converters, do you have the Flash 8 Video Converter? It works just fine for video to be delivered over the Internet. Remember, you are taking a Cadillac version of video (h.264 HD) and stuffing it into a Chevy body to get it to work over the Internet.
    Best wishes,

  • FLV vs WMV file size

I just encoded a 13 minute video to FLV and to WMV, and at 2
different sizes. Not only was the 240x180 FLV file nearly the same
file size (45MB) as the 320x240 FLV, but the WMV files were about
half that size (appx 27MB). Can someone explain this to me? I
thought FLV was supposed to be about the same file size as WMV.
That is definitely not the case!

  • Exporting an flv that doesn't stutter and is a small file size

i know you can make an h264 and change the extension to flv but that doesn't help me with this particular issue: I am working in fcp 5.0.4. I have a two minute sequence. When I use the On2 plug-in and export an flv out of fcp I get a 30 MB file and I need to get it down to more like 2 MB! Plus, it stutters. I've tried 15fps and 30 fps. 15 looked better. How shall i get this file to 1. not stutter and 2. be a lot smaller in file size? thanks so much!
