FLV TO 3 GP AUDIO LOSS

Please help me with this one:
Using RHEL4 running fms2. The .FLVs created by FMS play well
(include audio as well as video), however, when they are converted
to 3gp using ffmpeg, they retain the video but loose the audio.
Any one??? Please??

Welcome to the forums.
(PAL 1024kbps / 29fps / 500x280)
That's weird, PAL is 25fps 720x576.
converted into an flv from a quicktime mov
What did you use to convert? Perhaps try a different converter?
Cheers

I frequently lose audio when in the middle of a call.  I am not certain whether it is a full disconnect or just an audio loss.  The person on the other end reports still being able to hear me, however, I suppose they could hear me speaking over another source even if bluetooth disconnected. The loss of audio is always preceded by a quick shrill noise, so I can easily tell when it happens.  All I have to do to fix the problem is to select Audio Source on the call screen, temporarily switch audio back to the iPhone, and then switch back to the headset, and then it starts working again.
My Iphone5 was replaced and having same Problem. Only does this when using bluetooth for talking.

I have the exact same issue... I've been using a Jabra Extreme2 and just this weekend, bought a Plantronics Marque2 and today had the same issue, so it's clearly not the headset but the phone or OS.
I might try a restore and see if it helps...

• Fix for iPhone 5 Bluetooth audio loss / disconnect?

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4s to an iPhone 5.  I have a Motorola HX550 Bluetooth Headset which worked flawlessly with the iPhone 4s.  However, since upgrading to the iPhone 5, I frequently lose audio when in the middle of a call.
Is is important to note that I am not the only one experiencing this issue:
This is a link to someone using the Motorola H19txt headset experiencing the same issue
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/94ac15ad7c
If you go to the Plantronics website and look at the "Ratings and Reviews" on the Voyager Legend you will see the same issue reported:
http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/voyager-legend (next paragraph is taken from the review since there is no direct link to the review.
Really nice Headset unless you own an Iphone 5. I own several Plantronics headsets and have always loved the quality/ performance. This headset seems not to be compatible with the new Iphone 5. In the middle of a conversation it will lose all incoming audio. This leaves you trying to switch audio sources really fast in order not to lose your phone call. Ive tried 3 legend headsets and they all do the same thing. Hopefully this gets fixed soon because the headset is really nice
Since this issue appears to affect multiple headsets from multiple vendors, I think it is fair to conclude that it is an issue with the iPhone5 bluetooth itself.
I am posting this as a new discussion as I don't see any other posts specific to this iPhone 5 Bluetooth issue.  I would have reported this as a problem to Apple, but don't seem to be able to find a way to do this on the web.  Hopefully they are already aware, but if not, maybe they will see i here.
If anyone else has experienced this issue, or has recommendations on how to prevent this from happening, I would appreciate your feedback / additions to this post.

I upgraded to an iPhone 5 last year, and since that time I have had the audio drop out problem at intermittent but bothersome rates. Interestingly, the audio drop occurs only with some Bluetooth headsets, and never with others. The headsets that have the problem are all over the head devices with strong noise suppression and very long battery life. The problem started with the Parrott XT250+, 20 hours talk time and fantastic noise suppression.
I then purchased the RK400 RoadKing, it has 30 hours talk time, and is a little lighter and less geeky looking.
Also superb, but it cuts out more often than the BlueParrot.
However, I have a Bose in ear Bluetooth which never loses audio.
These heavy duty Bluetooth headsets are popular with truckers. They indicate greater distance to/from the device, about double. 60 feet vs. 30 feet, as I recall.
There must be a Bluetooth standard they adhere to that causes the audio loss problem in the iPhone. Just clicking to iPhone and back to the bluetooth will clear it. I also sometimes have a funny noise that indicates the audio is out, but usually it's noticing the other person not speaking. It has caused some serious problems on important business calls. I bought these headsets, and the iPhone5, to handle these calls.
Apple's Genius bar folks do not appear to have heard of this problem. I was asked to demonstrate it, which i did, eventually I was given a brand new iPhone5 to address the problem. The results of that were interesting, the rate of drop about doubled on the new phone over the old.
I was told when the phone was replaced, and again when I went back, that I would probably have to erase everything on the iPhone, set it up as a new phone on iTunes on my computer, and reload whatever apps I wanted (Apple knows which you paid for). I went through this procedure. I didn't suspect it would work, but I tried it. It didn't work. And again, the frequency of the drop out varied. This leads me to believe it may be some odd memory or cache overload since different phone utilization of space seems to be an affecting variable.
That is, I had all but 8 gigs utilized on my 32 gig iPhone 5 when the problem began. When I had the phone replaced and backed up, I trimmed back some of the apps. When I wiped the phone's drive and reinstalled, I wouud up with more memory available, as I deleted 1000 photographs during the reinstall.
It's frustrating, but I have encountered such weird anomalies in the past. I am glad this forum exists to document the problem and hope Apple will notice, acquire a few of the problem headsets, and resolve the bug.

• Constant crackling/pop + inability to install standard drivers + audio loss

Oh Lord, what a disaster Creative is. I have a Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro that worked fine under Windows XP for four straight years. Then on the fifth year when I upgraded to the Windows 7 x64 Beta it ceased to function. It never continued to work with the Release Candidate, RTM or Retail versions so I just gave up until a few days ago when I thought maybe Creative or the community fixed some of my issues...
Hah, fat chance. Anyways it all began with severe audio distortions, pops and crackling that would sometimes end in a flat-line tone or eternal static. No matter how many times I reinstalled my drivers, used older drivers or used user remedies nothing worked. So I just gave up, took out my sound card and sucked it up with my Realtek integrated motherboard audio (eugh).
Well I can't stand it anymore. I'm too much of an audiophile to settle for anything less so I tried my sound card out again. I still had the same problems only now I can barely install any Creative drivers as the installation will constantly ask about a file called layout.bin. but it does not work at all and there are no other responses on the issue.
But that's OK because I can still install the base X-Fi drivers. Unfortunately it never resolved my issue. Older drivers do not work. There's nothing other than crackling and popping and then an utter loss of audio. Then I heard about Daniel_K and used his drivers (X-Fi Prelude Beta and X-Fi Support Pack 2.0). I was elated when everything installed without a single issue and the audio was perfect... until after maybe an hour when the crackling came back. Then it started getting progressi'vely worse until you can't even decipher what's being heard. I tried a couple reinstalls which would fix the issue for a short spell but then it'd degrade exponentially from there.
On top of that I couldn't use any of the Creative software with either Creative's drivers or Daniel_K's. It would never detect my sound card even though Windows had no problem seeing it. So I spent literally 5 hours of my day prowling these forums, Google and my own experiments with no luck.
So rather than looking for a solution I'm just gonna ask for one. I have an EVGA 680i motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3GHz, ATI Radeon HD 5850, 6GB RAM, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro and .5TB HDD space.
I know Creative stated that nForce motherboards might have an issue with the X-Fi but I've never had that problem with XP and I heard it's found in many other boards from different manufacturers. Creative also stated problems with more than 4GB of RAM but I've disabled all but 3.5GB of RAM with no success. I know Creative states that this is a PCI issue and that I should mess around with my BIOS settings. Updating my BIOS, disabling unneeded BIOS features, changing PCI slots and getting rid of my overclocks did nothing.
I KNOW that it's not a defecti've card. Everything works 00% with Ubuntu 9.0. Thanks for your time. I'm probably just wishing for gold to pour from the heavens and wasting my time. =(

ORe: Constant crackling/pop + inability to install standard drivers + audio loss? Alright, don't ask me how but I managed to mostly fix my crackling and popping issue. I fixed it with a combination of rearranging all of my hardware to different slots and reinstalling my drivers for the th time, only this time mashing Daniel_K's drivers with Creative's.
Now getting the drivers to work is another thing. I have sound and it's superb (the only reason why I'm willing to sacrifice so much of my time to get this to work) but I cannot get any other function out of my X-Fi. I can't open up the console, switch modes, enable effects, etc. Also, if I ATTEMPT to screw around with any audio settings my computer will start crackling like the devil and all of my hard work will be undone, prompting another reinstall requiring the utter removal of anything Creative on my PC to work.
Now I think the reason for this is because whenever I try to install any Creative software from Creative themselves (except the driver) it won't install. It will ask about a layout.bin, I would point the installation to where layout.bin is but then it'd give me an error (Error I-00). According to my install.log I'm missing something called CTShared. I try installing it but it doesn't seem to fix my problem.
Also, installing ALchemy will tell me that it couldn't create a shortcut after installation and will not work. Sometimes the installation will say that there is a newer version of a product and that it won't install even though there is no trace of anything Creative on my computer.
Now Daniel_K's drivers and software install fine, but the software WILL NOT detect my sound card. It will constantly tell me that the audio device wasn't found or that it's not installed. Windows sees it fine, though, and I get perfect audio. So I mashed Daniel_K's drivers with Creative (long process) and everything installs fine, everything looks to run fine but for some reason nothing will start up. So so much for my own modding attempts. >_<
Any solutions?

• Converting Mov to FLV audio loss

Hi all,
This might be something someone could help me think. The problem I seem to be encountering is a loss of audio in the later quarter of videos converted into an flv from a quicktime mov (PAL 1024kbps / 29fps / 500x280), this typically happens on a file durration of upto 2 or 3mins. It doesnt happen when converting from a wmv, (also trying an AVI) although the outputed quality tends to be a lot less clearer using some of these other formats. Interestingly, when previewing the MOV in a quicktime player theres no signs that this will happen / no loss of audio / no blips in the frames around the later of the vid. Both the On2 VP6 or Sorrenson Spark cunjor the same fault.
I would love to here someones take on this
Many thanks

• Exporting to flv and resizing comp causing audio loss and time extention

I am rendering 4 comps of different lengths at 1920 x 1080 to .flv format and 480 x 270.  The longest and shortest videos have come out fine.  The other two both cut out the audio around the middle of the clip and for some reason extend the total length of the clip by about 40 seconds of just blank screen.
I know the obvious things to look at (length slider, audio file problem) but all of these should be working fine. Audio plays back fine in AE and they are both being rendered at the correct time duration in the export settings.  The comps playback fine at full resolution.  I've tried converting the full size .flvs to the 25% size .flvs in Media Encoder and its the same problem.  If there is some problem with compression that I just dont know about, it didn't show up in the other two videos.  I'm at a loss and have resorted to banging my head on my desk.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

First, make sure that your source footage matches your sequence, and then your export settings match your sequence, particularly from the Field Order standpoint. Your footage should be progresive, since they're screen recordings, and therefore, your sequence should be progressive (No Fields) as well. Likewise, make sure that when you're exporting that your interlacing/field order options are also set correctly, i.e. progressive.
Your computer should chew through this encoding task handily, but check that you don't have Maximum Render Quality set; it's in the little disclosure triangle flyout menu in the Video Settings of the Export window. While this DOES typically result in better quality exports, it can significantly increase the amount of time needed for export. If you're going from progressive to progressive to progressive, you should see much benefit out of that option anyway.

• MOV to FLV Audio Loss

I am having problems with converting MOV to FLV. I'm using a

• FLV image falls behind audio

Hi all,
I have a client who wants video with an alpha channel overlaying other images in an iPad application.
AFAIK this can only be done with FLV video files but the video files have pretty poor performance in the sense that often the audio starts and after a bit the image tries to catch up by increasing the framerate or skipping frames.
The videos are really short (3 to 5 seconds) and have a datarate of approx. 500kbps (onMetaData shows 500). Using an app called System Status I notice the CPU (ipad 2) reaches about 60-75% load when playing the video.
Does anyone know how to prevent the lag or know of another neat trick to display video with an alpha channel?
[edit]
Same thing happens (a tiny bit less?) with videodatarate==256.
Not really statistical but lower CPU load when playing the video seems to correlate with better playback.
Thanks in advance,
Manno

Thanks, Ill give it a try today and let'cha know. The article is quite interesting. :)

• Any FLV files with Nellymoser audio are required

Hi,
I'm writing a converter of FLV with Nellymoser audio into MP3

I've tested it with NM audio of 8 kHz, but I need yet to test
it with
audio of higher sampling rates (like 11 kHz, 22 kHz and 44

Could anybody help me with a small sample of FLV file,
encoded with
Nellymoser audio with a sampling rate higher than 8 kHz?
Thanks in advance.

I just found the problem. Even though my Perian SAID it was up to date, it was only at 1.1.1. My old system that worked correctly still had Perian 1.1.3. I copied that component over and it works fine with the problematic FLV files.

• Audio loss on CQ 58

Can anyone help? I have a Compaq CQ 58 (Product No. C1Z98EA#ABE) running on Windows 8 64-bit and frequently loose sound. Windows advises that A) the speakers and drivers are ok and, B) the sound device is being used by another application. When I troubleshoot "Hardware and Devices" the Troubleshooter advises "The troubleshooter made some changes to your system. Try attempting the task you were trying before." After this the speakers work UNTIL the next loss - again and again...........

Hi,
Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall.  When done, restart the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'.  You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
After this you may or may not need to delete and reload the Audio driver - if you do, the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.

• Last of 6 flvs - no video, only audio

OK, I've been working on six short videos for a client. Workflow is 5 final cut pro sequences --> 5 Quicktime referenced files ---> Adobe Media Encoder CS4 --> 5 640x480 FLV files. Testing FLVs using Adobe Media Player. They work great.
(FWIW - I tested a few  different outputs in Media Encoder before finding a combo I liked, and then created a preset for that combo).
The first five worked great.
For this sixth and last video today, I followed the same procedures. Exported out a QT reference file from Final Cut, verified that it plays in QT player. Dropped into Media Encoder, and used my preset for this job. After the encoding is done, the FLV will not play in Adobe Media Player. And, curiously, the file size is half of the other FLVs, yet this video is the longest of all of them. (videos 1-5 range from a minute to 2.5 minutes; this sixth problematic one is about five minutes. So it should be a few hundred megs, yet it comes in at 20).
Note that I CAN hear the audio.
I also tried creating a new Flash project and embedding this problematic video; video would not play when embedded on an HTML page, either.
I should also add that in Media Encoder, I don't see any previews, either before starting the encoding, or in the lower right area when encoding is happening.
Any ideas out there? Of course, this is the very last step in a quick-turn project...

Well, if anyone is interested, all the videos that won't play have been encoded in H264/AVC. Once these are converted to plain old MPEG4 or H.264 (without AVC) they play.
Am a bit confused here. H.264 is also know as MPEG-4/AVC and as such, have assumed you were simply using the H.264 and AVC terms both interchangeable and paired to emphasize the codec. However, when you say "without AVC" I begin to wonder if you are referring to some "special" setting in a third-party codec which may add "hybrid" advanced coding features which may combine elements of multiple MPEG-4 profiles. If true, than that may be your problem as QT traditionally does not allow such "mixing" of capabilities and the latest QT framework/players may be even more sensitive to their presence than older versions -- especially in view of the latest move to HTML5 assisted browser playback.

• FLV in rollover slidelet: audio just barely not synched with video

I have several FLVs (slide videos) in my project (65 slides total) and all work perfectly except for the one that appears in a rollover slidelet. The audio just barely lags the speakers lip movement. This occurs in both Preview and Publish. I've tried various setting for the FLV and slidelet but haven't been able to get it synched up. Further complicating this is the fact that applying the 5.0.2.630 patch has essentially blown up my Captivate install (I have a separate post on that) and now sometimes when I preview this slide or view the published project, no audio at all plays. I have seen some posts indicating that these sorts of issues occur depending on system processing speeds but my system meets the Tech Specs for Cap 5.0 so I am not sure how that relates. I also wonder how I can anticipate what will happen for end users; there are probably some specs out there about that, but I admit I haven't dug those up yet. Below are the settings I'm using for the rollover slidelet. Thanks.

I'm wondering if I should update my bios. To date, I've done the following:

Added three hard drives with two of them on Raid 0. Total is 5 hard drives
Just picked up a PNY GTX-470 display adaptor

• Some of my .MOV and .FLV files are missing audio

I have not touched these files, and yet some of them no longer play audio. Some .MOV files do work and same with .FLV. Why would just a few files be affected and not all of them?
What can I do to restore the audio?
Thanks.

The weird thing is that the audio once worked, so something in my settings have changed.
Over the years, QT support for MP3 audio seems to have ebbed and flowed with the times. I believe the latest upgrade(s) no longer contain internal QT support and may even ignore on of my older QT MP3 installed components. On the other hand, I believe Perian component package contains support for both the FLV file container and the MP3 VRB audio. Haven't really run any recent tests to see which components are doing what for specific files. I.e., I usually wait and do that if/when a conflict develops. (The old "If it's not broke, don't fix it!" philosophy.) In any event, mine are still working so this has not been an issue for me.

• Suffering weird audio loss issue on ATV3

I recently purchased an Apple TV 3rd gen and hooked it up to my new Panasonic plasma. Whenever I try to stream something, be it Netflix, home sharing or iTunes Trailers, I get random losses of audio. The audio usually cuts out for less than a second every now and then, but sometimes it gets really bad and these losses come in rapid pace, making it practically impossible to hear what's going on. I have not had any issues when watching cable. This is only when I use the Apple TV.
I've heard many possible theories, but can't seem to narrow it down. Some say the 3rd gen has some issues with formating audio, while others say it might be a buffer issue with the wireless router, but the video is never affected (though the quality of the video stream from Netflix is pretty terrible).
Anyone else experience this issue?

Stopping and restarting Flash automatically when display is toggled may be unique to Firefox. Neither IE9 not Chrome 29 appears to do it on this test page: [http://www.jeffersonscher.com/forumshots/toggle_display.html]. If there is a way to prevent Firefox from doing that, I'm not aware of it.
But you can use a Greasemonkey userscript (or if you prefer, a Stylish userstyle) to prevent the script from hiding videos, thus avoiding the problem. A test version is available here: [http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/177648]. It adds this to Tumblr pages to override the page script's addition of display:none to posts:
