Hi,
Perian is the tool you need to have QuickTime recognize FLV files and export them (using QuickTime Pro) to any QuickTime file type you need.

  • Can I change audio codec when convert flv to mov ?

    I just get Total Video Converter from App store to convert my downloaded flv to mov.  My question is how can I change the audio codec to ac3, aac, or mp3?
    Below is its screenshot:

    A simple problem, I think you are beginner to this app.  In the tool bar, you can find a button "Settings", click it, you will get a window named "Options", and there are 4 tabs: "Video", "Audio", "Resize", "Crop&Pad", and "Audio" tab is the right you need like below:
    There, you can set your desired audio codec with option "Audio Codec"
    Hope this can help you. Good luck.

  • Compress FLV to MOV

    I have a number of FLV files I need to convert to MOV or MP4 formats. How can I do so?
    Thank you

    You should figure out what codec the FLV is using first. If its H.264, then all you need to do is change the extender from .flv to .mov. If its the On2, or Sorenson 3 codec, then you need to look at the video itself. Does it have areas that are transparent (i.e., does it have an alpha channel)? If so, you are not going to be able to convert the video without loosing the transparency.

  • Convert .flv to .mov

    How do you convert .flv to mov.? as FCP won't load .flv files

    I am using MPEG Streamclip, having installed the Perian plugin, and successfully converted FLV to MOV. My problem is that I have been given 4 files, presumably from the same source, and 1 works 3 don't. Any ideas why?

  • Problems converting to flv from mov

    Ive got quicktime pro and i try to convert my mov files to an flv file and it works but when i go to play the file at about 70% of the way through the video it will freeze. if i fast forward the video it will continue to play the last 30% but without volume. it does this on all mov files i convert.
    i've got another converter on a pc that will convert the mov files to flv with no problems but i want to be able to do it on the mac.

    If you have QuickTime 7.2 installed, encoding FLV video will work properly only if the audio track in the source video is encoded at 44kHz. Otherwise, the FLV will stop playing two-thirds of the way through.
    If necessary, use QuickTime Pro to re-encode the source video so that its audio track is 44kHz. Then encode into FLV.

    Mission - I need to convert an .flv file to .mov in order to edit in FCP and export out again as flv file

    Problem - when importing to fcp, the audio is out of sync. It may be in sync in one place but out in another. Seems like its a different frame rate???
    What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this?? It's needed tomorrow morning.
    Urgent help is appreciated.

    No response yet. Anybody have any ideas on this please?

  • HT3775 flv to mov

    I have a flv file that i need to be able to watch on my mac. Any suggestions on how to change the file to mov or make it work?

    Instead of converting the file format, install VLC, which will play virtually any format.

  • .flv or .mov?

    My web designer has asked for an hd programme for download, which I have sorted, but has also asked for a .flv trailer, ie a 2 minute section which can be streamed, but when you right click, "download" option isn't available. I can't find .flv in FCP or Compressor, can anyone suggest an alternative?

    .flv is Adobe Flash format.
    You need to purchase Flash to do what you want.

  • Does Adobe have a Video Converter? (I want convert FLV to MOV)

    I'm looking for a simple solution for converting videos. I would have thought that somewhere in a Adobe's vast suite of software products that a video converter may have been included. To date, I have not been able to find one. If anybody can offer some advice please.

    Yes Adobe offers Adobe Media Encoder with some of its products.
    I am having windows 7 Operating System  and if you also have it then if you click on the start button and type Media encoder you will get a link to open Adobe Media Encoder.And then you can use it so your problem will solve.If you are using another OS then sorry I don't have any Idea about that..But if you are having windows 7 you can deffinatly use it.. :-)

  • How can I use a FLV/MOV as one of 2 inputs?

    I was wondering if anyone knew of good way to add a video to
    a 2 input filter (that isn't a blend)?
    I'm using a filter that is a lot like (Ryan Taylor's)
    DisplacementMapFilter:
    http://www.boostworthy.com/blog/?p=245
    Which I've seen work with still images, but I would love to
    see it work with a movie as 1 of the inputs.
    If I can get help to make Ryan's filter to work with a FLV or
    MOV, then I can get it to work on the filter that I'm working on.
    I've got it to work with JPGs (by applying it to a BitmapData
    object). And I've got a movie to work with a filter with 1 input
    (which is pretty easy). But this one has really stumped me.
    When it's a blend its really easy, but filters like (Ryan
    Taylor's) DisplacementMapFilter.pbk won't work with just a
    blendShader.
    PLEASE HELP!

    Quick and easy way to do it:
    1) Load each video into an FLVPlayback instance. Listen for
    the PLAYHEAD_UPDATE event.
    2) onPlayheadUpdate, grab your frames with bitmapData.draw().
    3) Supply those bitmapDatas to the shader:
    shader.data.image1.input = bitmapData1
    shader.data.image2.input = bitmapData2
    4) Draw the result with the drawing API's beginShaderFill
    method.

  • How to convert .flv files to .mov?

    End Result Desired = to posted editted version in format that will play on YouTube

    When I download the .flv file, the audio and video play fine in Adoble Flash Player 1.8.   I have tried just ablout every Mac  .flv converter I can find and all convert the .flv video to other formats, but the Audio is never included.  I cannot figure out why the audio does not come over.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

    I've been reading so many different forums on how to convert FLV to MOV. Finally, I summarized three solutions:
    First one: HandBrake . This tool is a free and open-source multi-threaded transcoding app.
    Cons:
    1. HandBrake is too professional to handle for most people;
    2. It doesn't support MOV as output format.
    Second one: there are many third party software which supports converting FLV to MOV.I highly recommend iDealshare VideoGo which can batch convert FLV to MOV much easier, faster on Mac or Windows Cons:
    1. Most of them are not free.
    Third one: Online-Converter . This kind of converter does a great job on file conversion.
    Cons:
    1. Like most online converters, the free version of this tool only allows you to convert videos smaller than 100MB. It's too small for video conversion;
    2.Your MKV video should be upload to the internet to be converted. This means the risk of pravite information leak is possible.

  • Help, Quicktime/.flv End of Movie Action needed

    Hi, we've made a simple flash 8 presentation for a client
    that is essentially a branded main menu from which 9 different .flv
    training movies (converted with flash 8 from quicktimes) can be
    launched. Everything is working fine but we'd like to add in a an
    action script that would automatically return the user to the main
    menu when each movie file has completed playing. Right now we have
    a back button that they can manually click at anytime but ideally
    it would return automatically when the .flv is finsihed. Can anyone
    help? Much appreciated. Manny.

    Just want to add that we've tried using cue points which set
    when importing in the Flash 8 encoder but can't get them to work in
    the media player component. Any advice would be much
    appreciated.

  • Flv odd behavior in swf on web but not authoring

    Hi All,
    I've been building a movie that includes linked flvs animations that were created in After Effects. (I need to export as flv because I need that alpha channel so you can 'see thru' the movies to the content below). These linked flvs are located within child movie clips. I fade those movie clips up and down with alpha tweens and then remove them (using removeChild) after they fade down for optimization purposes.
    While building this project, I tested it often in authoring mode and everything always works fine: All flvs are open and play as they should. When I remove a child movie clip and then add it back (using the addChildAt) it appears on the correct layer in the composition.
    I also posted the movie, in earlier stages, to test it on the web and it worked fine. Now, however, after I added only four more flvs (in movie clips ...using the same method), I see several problems that I never see when I test in authoring mode: On the web, some of those flvs load late. One flv ('wheelchair man') appears in front of another flv that it should be behind. At one point the largest flv animation just vanishes. Here is the movie:
    http://home.comcast.net/~samiri/director/mortals/froggy/froggyPortrait.swf
    -You might have to reload the movie to see the intermittent problems.
    Again, these problems never show when I'm testing in authoring. (For example, that 'wheelchair man' is on the correct layer: He's behind the wall instead of in front of it.) Also: The late-appearing flv problem happens intermittently on the web.
    I am ready to tear the whole thing apart and rebuild it piece by piece, testing each on the web, but I'm hoping someone has an idea what the problem might be before I begin that long process.
    Thanks very much.

    Both. The z order is wrong...and the flvs don't load on time. (They eventually do load but after a lag that results in a gap in what is supposed to be a smooth dissolving of one MC into another (I tween down one MC at the same time I tween up of the next one). Again, neither of these problems show when I test in authoring mode, only when viewed in a browser.
    Thanks for sticking with me, Rob. Since this seems like a thorny optimization problem, I'm isolating to test: Let’s only look at the "MCs don't load on time" issue. (forget the ‘z order’ problem for now):
    Here’s my stripped down movie:
    http://home.comcast.net/~samiri/director/mortals/froggy/
    I only put 2 cue points in soundtrack now:
    1st.) at 3500 milliseconds, tween out the 'poster frame' (of face1 + room background)
    -This 'poster frame' is the placeholder image of face1 + bkgrn, put on the stage to hide the fact that the flv (with animating version of same content) loads more slowly than the bitmaps on the stage. I dissolve that poster frame down with the first cue point in the soundtrack (supposedly after the first MC has already loaded).
    2nd.) at 9500 milliseconds , alpha tween face 1 down and face 2 up.
    -Both tweens are supposed to happen at same time.
    I’ve tested on 3 computers (vista, Win 8, Win8.1 pro) with 3 cpu/RAM/ghz configs (Celeron/2gb/1.66ghz, corei3/4gb/2.20ghz, corei7/16gb/2.4ghz) and in 3 versions of IE, one ver of Chrome and 2 versions of Firefox:
    All show a gap in the ‘alpha tween up/down’ sequence (face1 tweens down and then you see the stage for 1-4 secs, then face2 tweens up). Most also show a sec of missing background (The animating room MC doesn’t tween up as the poster frame is tweened down so you see the white of the stage for 1-3 secs).
    I’ve tested by viewing in a browser on my desktop as well as in a browser on the web. Both show the gap between the fade down of face1 and the fade up of face2. Firefox on the desktop seems to do the best (the room background MC doesn’t go missing very often, except the first time the browser accesses the .swf. (However, even Firefox, browsing locally, on my fastest computer shows the face-dissolve gap.)
    So, as indicated, I think this is a problem where the movie clips that contain the flvs don’t tween up fast enough and play the flvs. What do you think?
    Is there any way to optimize this method so it doesn’t fall apart when viewed through a browser?
    Thanks much

  • FLV Master Detail Gallery

    I'd like to use a master/detail region scenario with FLV's.
    Right now I've been using iframes and its sketchy at best. I want
    the user to click thumbnails which load an FLV video and text from
    an XML file.
    Here's what I've come up with this far:
    http://s254856054.onlinehome.us/tv/
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    just load link to the video and use the appropriate tag for
    it, example XML
    <xml>
    <movie>
    <title>movie 1</title>
    <description>test movie</description>
    <thumbnail>images/movie1.gif</thumbnail>
    <video>video/video1.flv</video>
    </movie>
    </xml>
    the use spry region or repeat region for displaying video...
    how to display it? follow adobe product demo on spry folder, it
    similarly when you want to display image you would use
    <img src="$thumbnail" alt="$title" />
    do it with the flv and use the appropriate tag for it (i
    never use flv so i dunno which tag should used)
    if you want it only play when user click the thumb then set
    event for onclick in the image the call a function that can do
    loadUrl(); for that, example:
    <script>
    loadFlv(Url){
    document.getElementById("flv_viewer").href = Url;
    </script>
    where
    flv_viewer is the correct id for tag that will display flv
    object
