.flv videos not loading

Hello,
Has anyone had this problem and found a fix. For some reason my flash videos are not playing. Nothing loads on the Captivate page in the LMS enviroment. It works just fine before I upload the zipped file, I unzipped into into a test folder and it works just fine (the .fla files have a relative path) but when it is uploaded onto the LMS something happens, actually nothing happens:) The flash videos don't load. I am going to guess this is an LMS problem, but just in case, has anyone experienced this and made a change somewhere and it worked?
Thanks in advance for any input you can give.
Enjoy the day,
Keith

Hi!
I have found the solution.
AIR expects a protocol, which in this case is “file:///” (not the file's NativePath).
So
<mx:VideoDisplay id="myVid"
source="../assets/ES_morcuera.flv"
height="250"
width="250"
/>
must be:
<mx:VideoDisplay id="myVid"
source="file:///home/user/myProject/assets/ES_morcuera.flv"
height="250"
width="250"
/>
Bye.

• HT1657 Video not loading for a rented movie that I want to watch offline?

I have rented 2 movies, they were downloaded to "my videos".i wanted to watch them offline and whereas both movies started successfully, after a few minutes I got the error "video not loading".
I reconnected my iPad to the internet and tried again but I get the same error again...

The new releases seem to take the longest. But you use to always have the option of both right when they came out now its buy then wait and wait for rent.

• Youtube videos not loading.

Youtube videos not loading in WiFi, there is dots circling coming forever. BTW how long do I have to charge I've kept for 4 hours and it is still charging.

here are the basic workaround instructions to get video streaming working over Wi-Fi:
1. Go to Menu->Settings->Configuration->Personal Settings->Options->Add new->Web->Back->Options->Activate
2. Repeat step 1. for Streaming and Access point
3. Restart phone
4. Go to Settings->Configuration->Default config. settings and select Personal config.
5. Settings->Connectivity->WLAN First should be also checked.

• Embedded video not loading?

I seem to be having a problem with embedded video not loading.
For example: In Youtube if a video is embedded in a larger screen (example: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCY30JRSgfhYXA6i6xX1erWg) it will not load but if I load the video in its own page (example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=bLT0z60vBl4) it will work perfectly fine.
The issue comes when there are videos that don't have the option to load in a full screen (example: http://www.cbc.ca/thenational/watch/).
I have the latest version, have hardware acceleration unchecked, this happens with all browsers (IE, FF, Chrome), have deleted cookies... what else can I do?

this happens with all browsers (IE, FF, Chrome)
Then it HAS to be something outside of Flash Player and the browsers, because:
IE usues a proprietary plug-in - ActiveX, which is ONLY for IE amd functions independently of the others
Firefox uses the standard plug-in, which neither IE nor Chrome use, unless you specifically disable Chrome's proprietary plug-in
Chrome uses its own proprietary plug-in called "PepperFlash" which not only functions independently of the other two, it's a different format (PPAPI vs NPAPI)
The odds that all three different plug-ins (in two different formats, no less) have the exact same problem with one situation (viewing embedded YouTube video in another page)... are astronomical.

• Video not loading in both opera and ie

i am having trouble with flash videos not loading from certain websites
specifically http://video.au.msn.com/
youtube videos work fine as well as a number of other websites
using
windows 7 sp1 x64
opera 11
ie8
flash version WIN 10,2,152,32

Hi, I checked that site and didn't have any problem with it. I looked for system requirements on the site, but none are available. The Help link at the bottom was not working either. Also I couldn't determine what kind of Video Player they use.
That website seems eratic though. I clicked on one video to watch and it switched to a completely different video.
In IE go to Tools, Internet Options and Check under the Security Tab. I'd set it to Medium for the Internet Zone if you don't have it set that way.
I'd Disable any adblock if you use that.
Some of those websites may want storage or other permissions:

• .flv VIDEOS not playing smoothly

A heavy video-generated Captivate project has been created in Cap 4:
* 18 slides all up, with the total size of .flv videos coming to 90.7MB
* Using Captivate, as looking for interactivity -- there is also a menu, so users can jump to whichever section they'd like to watch/use
When accessing the completed project online:
1) The loader quickly goes up to 100%
2) Shows the preloader image I have inserted
3) User clicks play, and the first slide with video plays...
The first video either freezes / move quickly along the timeline. You are also unable to jump to other sections shown in the menu. While I am not too worried about this, my priority is for comfortable viewing for the first video. I am assuming that the first video freezes, etc because the whole project has yet to load completely. How can one work towards this solution? I have tested the loading time, changing it from 10%, 20%, towards 100% but the video is still freezing at times / moving quickly along the timeline.

Thanks for your PM - I just checked your project and it runs 100% fine and smooth for me.
I checked it on two different PC's
1. Vista 64-bit, IE 7.0, Flash player 10, 10mbit/10mbit internet connection.
2. Win XP Pro, IE 7.0, Flash player 10, corporate LAN
This leads me to the conclusion that the issue is the speed of your internet connection. The first video is around 80 seconds and is 13.5 Mb. That is very big when you consider the length and especially the dimension of the video you are using.
If you dont already have FP10 then try and upgrade to see if that helps. It's much better at handling videos etc. than the older versions of Flash players.
Secondly you need to recode your videos. You will be able to get the first video down from 13.5 to perhaps 4-6 mb, with a noticable quality loss. If you have Flash you can use the Adobe Media Encoder to do the recoding.

• FLV will not load on macintosh

thanks in advance for any help.
i'm relatively new to flash but have executed a simple site
for a demo reel with several progressive downloading .flv's. i
figured out everything well enough -- actionscript 3 for
navigation, etc. -- with the exception of one maddening problem:
all works beautifully on PC platform and all browsers. on
macintosh, on both FIREFOX and SAFARI, the SWF loads, but the FLV
files will not load. users see red adobe "flv" icon instead of the
FLVPLAYER.
this briefly describes the site:
HTML loader page. link loads SWF and goes to 1st frame, which
is static. buttons in SWF go to other frames that hold FLVPLAYERs
with content paths to specific FLV files.
all is being served from a linux box, and, again, all is
golden for PC users across browsers. on the MAC -- no video.
i've tried absolute links to the SWF in the HTML. i've tried
using dreamweaver to embed the SWF rather than use the
adobe-generated HTML. i've tried monkeying with the .js code, but i
can't crack this this behavior and now i'm over my head . . . .
none of this makes any sense to me, because it seems that if
the SWF loads, all should be good at that point. isn't that the
idea of FLASH? it's a tidy cross platform wrapper for your
interactions, animation and media?
is this a known problem? am i missing something basic? is
there any help out there?

This forum is for the Shockwave Player - the plugin for running Adobe Director files in a browser. You need a forum for the Flash Player - the Shockwave Flash plugin. Blame Macromedia for confusing the name space of the 2 separate and distinct plugins

• FLV videos not playing correctly in Captivate 6

I am running into an issue where my FLV video is not playing correctly when my Captivate project is exported out and saved to the web. The FLV video is about 20 mins long (~100 MB) and it is being streamed from Kaltura. The FLV video is inputted into the Captivate project as a multi-slide synchronized video across 27 slides. The slides themselves are imported from Powerpoint. The problem that we are running into is that the Captivate project and the FLV video play correctly when viewed with decent bandwidth, but they do not appear to play correctly for users with slower bandwidth. However, if a user views the videos independently of Captivate, they can view the videos correctly, even at slower bandwidth. I have tried hosting the Captivate files on several different webservers, including an LMS. But the issue continues and I'm searching for any type of answers that might help.
Thanks for reading and any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Nathan

Nathan,
Your welcome, if that is the case, then can you try and insert the MultiSlide Video, you can insert the streaming video URL.
You can add the server to you computer as network Drive and then browser to that location, once you do that, the options to add the Video as Streaming can be chose and your Vidoe would remain insync with main playbar, users can play and pause content that way.
See if this can be implemented at your end.

• Images and video not loading after bridge

Hi guys. I followed this guide to put the NVG589 into bridge/passthough mode so I can use my Netgear N600 WNDR3700v2 router. Everything seems to be working fine, except with Facebook, Youtube and a few other sites. Images and video take forever to load (if at all). Everything I have read online suggests either changing to the Google DNS or turning IPv6 off. I am already using Google DNS and I already had IPv6 turned off on the Netgear. I have now turned IPv6 off in the NVG589 as well, yet the problem persists. As we have 30 days to test run AT&T interent, I still have my cable interent active (Suddenlink), so I can plug in the cable modem (SB6121), and everthing loads quickly on Facebook and Youtube. I plug in the NVG589, still not loading...so it's defintley something to do with the settings in the NVG589. Any idea? Thanks in advance.

Hi ,
I am sorry about the issues you are having with your U-verse service loading certain sites, but I will be glad to help. Are you having issues when it is not in bridge mode? Try resetting the U-verse gateway, and just connecting your Netgear to see if you are having the same problem. If so, try doing a direct connection to the gateway without the Netgear to see if the problem still persists.
Let us know how it goes.

• Flv videos not playing on html files - UNC/Mapped Drives

Hi,
We've discovered an issue with Dreamweaver CS3 recently (running on Windows 7 Pro, 32bit) in our school, where embedded flv video files wont run when the file's UNC path appears in the address bar, but will if this is changed to the local drive letter, in our case N. This obviously makes it a little difficult for teachers to mark students' work.
I found a similar issue in another thread:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/688483
which had not been answered. Are there any known solutions for this please? I have spent a while browsing, but have so far not come back with much. I've tried enabling and disabling 'Remove run from start menu' which was suggested, but this didn't make any difference.
Thank you
Regards

• Flv video not playing in AIR application

Hi everybody,
i'm building a tutorial with flash catalyst and since the 20 states limit i've split it up in different swf files that I import and show in different states.
One of these swf (which i built with Catalyst as well) is supposed to play a flv video, and it actually plays it if i run it alone.
The problem comes when i build the overall tutorial: it works perfectly with the "run project" command in Catalyst and with the run-local version but the video won't play if i try the AIR application.
Does anyone have any suggestion?
NB: the "asset" directory created with the AIR application installer does contain the flv file (i didn't have to put it there manually)
Thanks in advance for your help,
Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe,
what I do is:
1. create a file using Captivate
2. i place a .flv video in this file
3. save the file as .swf
4. then i go to dreamweaver and put the swf on a html page.
Now:
when viewed in a browser, everything runs fine.
when i pack this page into an air application (in dreamweaver) the video does not appear,
instead I get this "Connection Error"
I do not know a console or log file.
However, I learned that there is a .xml file located in the same AIR folder that you publish in.
In this .xml file there is a setting :transparency. in order to playt a .flv file this must not be be "transparent"!
(i read this somewhere in the net)
hope that helps
I will talk to a professional programmer, if I have any news, i will let you know

So I rented the 'movie of the week' and it downloaded. I pressed play & started to watch. Though approx 15mins into the film the movie just stops and a msg pops up saying "could not load movie" ... This happens at the exact same point every time! My internet connection is strong... Can someone help me?

Hi Dan345
Have you installed Adobe Flash Player? http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
After installing you should be able to play youtube videos.

• FLV video not showing up

I imported a flv video on a Dreamweaver page. It looks fine
when I view in a browser locally, but when I publish it just shows
as a white area.
When I publish with SWFs; no problem.
I've publish the scripts so that's not the issue. Any ideas I
should try?
Thanks very much.
Any ideas?

Check your hosting, one of mine is now blocking flv files as
"streaming".
When I have time sites on that hosting company will be moved.

• Video not loaded in flash

Please help me
I am unable to view videos on certain websites.
rather than showing the content,
a white box appears.
when i right click on the white box,
it says "movie not loaded" (in gray) and adobe flash player 10 (in black).
i can't click on the gray line.
when i click on the black line, it brings me to the adobe website and tells me adobe flash player 10 has been successfully installed.
I am using a imac with os 10.6
I am running the latest version of firefox and the latest version of Adobe flash
Can someone please help me?
Thanks

Hi, First I would test each browser here:
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Can you see the animation and the version number that is listed?
If so, then while you are at that site, RIGHT click on the Flash logo, click Settings, then Display Settings is where you UNcheck the hardware acceleration. This sometimes helps since this is turned on by default.
Thanks,

• Why are YouTube videos not loading properly on Safari?

YouTube videos on Safari are not loading properly. It is as if the YouTube viewing window loads right-justified on the screen. Which ends up being like almost a perfect square on the screen, with the unfortunate result that part of the video is truncated at the right. The same exact video on Chrome loads just fine.
I've just updated Flash and the problem persists.
Here's a screenshot.
The right part of the image shows a "Google 414 That's an Error" along with the description "The requested URL/adi/N8380.280090.ACCORDANTMEDIA/B7762596.101545485... is too large to process. That’s all we know."
Is anyone else having the same issue?

Hi Carlos ...
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Back to Safari. Press Command + Option + E to empty the Safari cache.
Quit and relaunch Safari, try a video.
And make Allow all other plug-ins is selected in Safari > Preferences > Security
Command , (comma) will open the Safari preferences pane for you, or from your Safari menu click Safari > Preferences
If nothing above helped, try troubleshooting Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
