  • DPM 2012 R2 Consistency Check (Replica Inconsistent) Error for Failover Cluster

I have a SCDPM 2012 R2 instance running against a Windows Server 2012 R2 Failover Cluster on the network.
However, any new/migrated Roles/Virtual machines that I add under an existing protection group always gives me an error saying that the replica is inconsistent.
    I've verified the following :
    1. All windows updates are applied on the cluster hosts & the DPM server.
    2. The VSS and DPMRA services are running on the hosts & DPM server.
    3. The Windows Server Backup feature has been installed on all the machines as well.
    4. The short term storage disks attached to the DPM server are LUNs and there is enough free space on those.
What else am I missing that could be causing the Replica to be inconsistent - considering that these are new VMs on the hosts themselves - is there a way to force a fresh replica to be created?

Do not remove any of the providers they come with the system. There is just something wrong with that VM, your trying to backup, as it could take the initial replica creation.
    Check all of the following
    1) Make sure you have enough C drive space on the guest - need space to create a snapshot
    2) Check the vssadmin list wirters for any errors
If none of the above, rerun the consistency check when no other backup is running. Check the Application log on the host for any vss failures
Ensure you have all the DPM hotfixes - I am compiling a list since i've been thru many DPM issues.
Great product when you get it going but like any product there are bumps in the road :)

  • SELS error during consistency checks. Fieldname not found in sender

I'm stuck in the System Analysis section, after starting programs for Generation and Reveiver settings. The task "Execute Consistency Checks" returns an error in PC001_PCL_CHECK.
Check SELS started at 16.06.2011 14:38:31
Errors detected for conversion object A910 :
A910:Fieldname VKORG of structure S_A910 mentioned in selref not found in sender
Check SELS finished at 16.06.2011 14:39:00
    The help says:
The selection field mentioned for the reduction of this conversion object does not exist in the sender system. Thus this selection field can not be used for reduction. Please remove the assignment of this conversion object from reduction. For further assistance please contact SAP support.
My question is simply HOW? Where can I remove this object? I don't even find a structure called S_A910 in any of my systems. I have table A910 but it doesn't have a field called VKORG in it at all... I'm somewhat lost here.
I've added the latest SPs (17) and also applied all the notes. At least I think I applied them all... I repeated the step several times, no luck.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    Stefan

    Hi Sandeep,
Many thanks for your reply. The note hasn't fixed the issue so I'm still stuck with the exact same error. I did run it as described and while the report updated a few fields, it didn't help to eliminate the error. Reading the note it would appear that the error described there is different from what I'm facing.
    > error message like : "TVKOV: member ID_VKORG of group G_VK has no selref field!
I am getting "Fieldname of structure S_A910 mentioned in selref not found in sender" so to me it looks like a different issue.
Oh well... Nothing like a bit of fun.

  • Spool Consistency Check

    Hello,
We are facing spool consistency error messages in SM21. Later we found that there are no spool consistency jobs running in our system. Of late, I have started running RSTS0020 three times daily with an interval of one hour between each run. Whatever object I find repeating in all the three runs, I delete only those.
I am trying to automate this process. What job do I schedule to perform the same task. One more question that haunts me is, even if I schedule a report to run at midnight every day, how can I delete the inconsistent object shown in the report, automatically. And don't I need to schedule the job three times with an interval of one hour between each job schedule? I am not sure how do I go about this. I am confused. Please help.
    Thank you.

Thank you for responding. If you had read my question correctly, I am also doing the same. I am running RSTS0020 in SE38 which, is the same as SP12 consistency check because, SP12 consistency check runs RSTS0020 in the background. But, my question was different. Here is my question again.
As per note 48400, you have to run RSTS0020 three times with an interval of one hour each. So, currently I am running this manually and at the end of every run, you get the output of inconsistent objects. What I do is, I take a screenshot of all the three runs then compare them. I select the check boxes and delete only those objects that has been repeated in all the three runs.
I know we can run RSTS0020 in the background but, I don't know how can I perform the later part of the above task. I mean when I execute RSTS0020 in the background, how can I delete the inconsistent objects? Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

I created a txt file with line items "100,crudeoil" with file name as salesorder.txt

    Recordset Structure : document,*
    document.endSeparator : 'nl'
    document.fieldSeparator: ,
    document.fieldNames : salesorder_number,Description
So after this if i run the scenario In file adapter i am getting the error like "Conversion initialization failed: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: Error(s) in XML conversion parameters found: Parameter 'document.fieldFixedLengths' or 'document.fieldSeparator' is missing Consistency check: no. of arguments in 'document.fieldFixedLength' does not match 'document.fieldNames' (0 <> 2) "

  • Fileserver consistency checks failing 0x809909B0

I have a file server with approx. 1.7TB of files which became inconsistent on the 8th of November, and has been unable to complete a consistency check since then.
Consistency checks fail with the error:
The protection agent on <server> was temporarily unable to respond because it was in an unexpected state. (ID 60 Details: Internal error code: 0x809909B0)
I have removed and re-added the server, including deleting the protected data from DPM disk, and reinstalled the DPM agent on the file server, but I still receive the above error when consistency checking.
    DPM is System Center 2012 R2 v4.2.1254.0 on Windows Server 2012 R2.
The file server is running Windows Server 2012 R2 also.
KB2919355 is installed on both systems.
I did have Dedup running on the file server, but have un-deduped the drive as part of troubleshooting this issue.
Other servers backed up by this DPM server are being backed up fine, including a HyperV cluster, 2 exchange servers and 2 sharepoint farms.
There are a large number of these errors in the DPMRA log around the time the job fails:

I have also tried the steps in this article with no change:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/107bdce0-e13c-427a-9341-07d4b558f007/dpmra-crashing-after-update-to-dpm-2012-r2-ur2
Currently I have reduced the amount of shares being backed up to just ~400gb of data and I have it in a consistent state, but I need to get the remainder of the data backed up, and I can’t be in a situation where if it becomes inconsistent it can’t run a
    successful consistency check again.

How can I get to know the code or Unit of Measure, where the inconsistency is there to rectify?
    Please suggest.

  • Secondary DPM (2012 R2) Issues: synchronising too much data from Primary DPM, persistant consistancy checks, and no dedup support!

I have a Primary DPM server that is protecting various File servers and a Exchange DAG. Everything is working as it should on this server, but I am experiencing constant issues on the secondary DPM protecting these same data sources.
On the primary, two Protection Groups in particular are set up to protect two different volumes on the same file server. Volume D:\ is 46TB in size, with a deduplicated file size of 22TB (actual 39TB) whilst Volume E:\ is 25 TB in size, with a deduplicated
file size of 2.5TB (actual 5.5TB).
    Issue 1:
As expected Volume D: was initially replicated to the secondary DPM server at its undeduplicated size ( 39TB), as was Volume E:\ with initial replication to the secondary of 5.5 TB.  So when is Microsoft going to support dedup on a secondary DPM ? It
seems daft to support dedup on the Primary DPM which is always more likely to be close to the original datasources on the  LAN and not on the secondary DPM which is most likely to be placed offsite on a WAN !
    Issue 2:
I have a big issue with the subsequent Synchronizations on the secondary server for E: which seems to transfer almost the full 5.5 TB every day ( I have it set to sync every 24hrs) - although the data is fairly static (i.e.unchanging) on that volume. On
one occasion a Sync continued for over 48 hours for this volume and had transferred over 20GB (according to the DPM console) , until I manually cancelled the job - how is that possible on a volume with only 5.5 TB (UN-deduplicated) ?? What is going on here
    - has anyone any ideas?
    Issue 3:
Another File server I am protecting on both the Primary & Secondary DPM server - always fails over to a consistency check on the secondary server - usually due to the fact it cannot access a particular file which results in an inconsistent replica .
However the Sync (and subsequent restore point) on the primary DPM server from the original datasource is always completes without any issues. Again, has anyone any clues ?
I do get the impression that the whole Secondary DPM thing is not quite robust enough. I can only assume that as the Primary seems to protect the original datasources ok, that the issue is with the secondary reading the information on the primary DPM.

I tried changing the time of the synchronization, but that didn't help.
Meanwhile, I was working on another unrelated case with Microsoft and so I didn't want to have a second case open at the same time. So I waited for some weeks with no change on this problem. Then, about a day or two before I was finally going to call Microsoft
to open a case (months after the problem had started), the problem suddenly resolved itself, with no input from me! So I don't really know if it was time that fixed it eventually or what. Sorry I can't be of more help.

    br Jens

Hi Guru, i would appreciate your help. Well the data in input-structure looks like:
    7283167TCARTON
    7283167T
    7283167S014800000000010

    7283167S016793020000007
    7283167S031502020000010
    etc.
Problem is also that instead of T (header) and S (Position) there might be L,D (also for Position). Therefore i have no clue how to handle these values as keyfieldValues.
    some ideas?! br Jens

  • Routing Consistency Check in batch ?

    Hey folks!
A business requirement has been raised to perform a consistency check for all Routing Task Lists for a specific plant.  I'm aware of the consistency check within the Routing that can be performed online.  Anyone know of a batch/background job that can validate routings and report errors?
The business case is as follows:  Reference Operation Sets are utilized within Routing Task Lists.  If a change is made to the Reference Operation Set (say add additional operations) and these additional operations conflict in the routing this ROS is utilized, this will cause a routing error.  Yet there is no way to identify this error until someone checks the routing or writes a production order against.
Any help on the above would be great.  Points are waiting to be awarded!

    Nathan,
I do not think there is a background program that can run to check for such inconsistency.
However when MRP runs system will detect routing inconsistency & will display exception message against planned order.
So nett result is MRP controller will know about this much before he converts planned order to production order.
They can look for exception messages either under Tcode: MD04/ MD05 or collectively under MD06/MD07 group by exception message.
Message 62 - Scheduling: Master data inconsistent is one such message & it falls under Exception group 4 in standard SAP.
So if MRP controller checks Tcode : MD06 & limits selection criteria by exception group 4 messages he can nail down all such errors in advance.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    1. After trying to update RME Device packages from GUI we got a message that LibCommon-v2.3.2 is needed
    2. We tried to update LibCommon from CLI using psucli.bat, see below
    3. We found a discussion in this forum, simular to this problem with the hint to reinstall the RME, what we did but with no improvement
    4. We deinstalled, reboot, did a new installation of LMS3.1. But the problem still exists, with same message. We need the PSU, because most of our devices will be managed after device package update only.
Updating of each package brings warnings with pseudo package names, as ImageAG, MemoryAG and not with hints to real missing packages:
    C:\lms\bin>psucli -p rme -install -src C:\install\lm31-updates\ LibCommon
WARNING: LibCommon(2.3.2):Consistency check failed for base package ImageAG
see also the psu.log containing all tryes of package updates
The problem goes a little bit in this direction, but with a new reinstallation as well:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/669047#669047
    What can we do?
    thx for hints, Steffen

When you install LMS on Windows, there are some recommended steps to take to ensure the installation is a problem free as possible:
Set the per-user and global TEMP and TMP environment variables to short values (e.g. C:\WINDOWS\TEMP)
    Disable all anti-virus software
Disable Windows Data Execution Protection (DEP)
Login to the server as a local Adminitrator
Install from original, locally attached media
NEVER abort the installation after the installer says not to
Based on the symptoms described here, I'm guessing at least the first item was not done.  TAC has a procedure to recover a bad RME package repository, but if the base installation is problematic, doing so would be moot.  If you suspect the installation isn't 100% (beyond the package repository), uninstall, then follow the above steps to reinstall.
If you think the problem is just with the RME package repository, contact TAC, and they can provide you a good, up-to-date repository to jump start things for you.

  • But what if my Consistency Check consistently fails?

So, I've been trying to clean up my Library in preparation for installing V3.0. Each time I try to run a consistency check, the progress bar makes it about 75% of the way and then . . . . nothing. Ever. Finder does NOT report that Aperture is not responding, but nothing happens. Left overnight. Nothing. No option but to Force Quit, which I'm sure can't be good. I had sort of assumed that the consistency check should be run before / rather than a complete rebuild, no? Didn't think I wanted to rebuild a large(ish) and possibly inconsistent database. Anyone know of any way around this . . .?

Rebuilding the database actually rebuilds it from scratch, from the XML files stored for each Version and Album, so the rebuild doesn't involve your existing database at all.
If you consistently can't run the consistency check (try saying that ten times!) then rebuilding the DB would be the next step.
I would suggest that you duplicate the Library first though, just in case...
I agree. definitely duplicate your library. I had problem with the Aperture First aid as well (consistency check worked, Repair Database would stay at 0% and not move, so I rebuilt my DB and lost the library. Definitely Definitely duplicate or backup your library before you rebuild it.
