FM in Mono
My 3500 is giving FM in mono outpur. Other music files are in Stereo. Please help
Hi!
The quality of recording is not so good, so I think this (stereo or mono) is not so important. I never use this function.

When creating new track in stereo... track opens in mono in arrange window
Since upgrading to 8.0.2...weird things are happening to previously saved projects. Stereo tracks are opening up mono and affecting following track. When creating new tracks in stereo.... tracks open mono. I don't know if this is due to 8.0.2 but all these freaky things have happening since. Also, when previewing Apple Loops, I can only hear it on one side, but Loops sounds fine once dragged to arrange window. Is this common or is my computer haunted ? Should I call Ghost Busters ? HELP !!! lol
Hi there,
I'm having the same problem as well: creating new tracks results in a mono software instrument, not the usual stereo software instrument. BUT... "Universal Track Mode" is already checked in my Audio prefs. I unchecked & rechecked it, but to no avail... I'm still only getting mono software instruments.
Any other ideas? No changes have been made to my system, and I'm running the latest version of Logic Pro.

Capture and Export of Mono Audio in FCP HD
I have just upgraded to FCP HD from FCP 3. My problem is all of my audio needs to be Mono only. In v3 this was simple I just chose Mono from the capture settings and Mono for Export.
On FCP HD I can't find any way to capture and export as Mono. When I record Voice Over in FCP all I get is the right channel and even when I set it to pan centre it still only comes out the right speaker after export.
If I've got to manually duplicate tracks everytime it will take me forever.
Anybody know a simple way to capture and export Mono only (the same for both Ch 1 + 2)
G4 DP 1.25 Mac OS X (10.4.6)This might seem the long way 'round but it may save a ton of time in the end.
Do your FCP mix in stereo as Colin suggests, then take the final audio track into STP or Peak and do a "mix to mono" and then save a new AIFF file with the resulting mono clip.
Then bring that back into FCP on a new audio track, line it up with the stereo, then either disable or delete the stereo tracks. This will give you a true mono audio track.
But where are you going with this content that will handle mono audio? DVDs require a stereo AC3 files. Are you sure you really need a mono sound track? -
I am struggling to work with spot colours, using scanned images edited in Photoshop for use in InDesign to then go to print.
We print to two plates to save money for our publication. In this case magenta and black.
I could use the spot colour mode but that works with curves and I only want a certain part magenta. Imagine a business card with a gloss finish where I only want to apply it to certain part ie the name of the employee, using a curve would match a certain shade therefore this method would be unsuitable.
I have also tried using channels, one grayscale and one magenta, but using the file types either InDesign bugs or it comes out in mono.
It isn't possible to recreate the logo in InDesign, if only it was this easy...
If someones already discussed this, I can't find it, but if someone could point me in the right direction—I'd be very grateful!
Using Photoshop CS4, InDesign CS4. Access to Adobe Cloud at home...I'm assuming at least some people on here must have experience of the Scintilla control for creating a Notepad++ type application. I'd like to use this control, unfortunately there is very little in the way of documentation or working examples

All Real Instruments coming through in Mono
I am using a lexicon Omega interface into garage band. The input settings say stereo but every real instrument I record comes through in mono. The only time I can get stereo is when I use one of the garage band instrument settings which is fine for guitars and keyboards. Any suggestions?

How to reput a mono track when it's in stereo?
I search how to put a track in mono when it's in stereo, we can do it easily on logic pro 9 but i don't find in logic pro X... Thanks!!!
I can't find it, for example, If I want to put the output of a stereo drums in a mono output I can't do it because I must to choose the stereo drums, but on logic pro 9 I can do it (to output a stereo instrument in a mono output even if it transform it in mono it's not a problem, it's to use on a analogic mixtable...)
Thanks! -
Mono files displayed as stereo in arrange window
Hi there everyone. This is my first post and thanks to all the help from all your other posts. here's my question:
I did a recording in ProTools of a Jazz Combo with a Decca Tree and three spot mics. Normally I just load the files from the ProTools "audiofiles" folder into Logic and all is great but on this session Logic is reading the center and right Decca tracks as stereo files. They are not stereo, but mono and Quicktime-Get Info: says they are mono as does clicking on them and selecting "Get Info". Why would they appear as stereo files? They are showing up in the Mixer window as mono channel strips and in the Arrange window and the Audio Window they are listed as stereo. When panning the three Decca tree tracks Left, Center and Right I get a totally mono signal according to the Helper Plugin inserted on the Master Out bus. The file names are also not being copied to the track names properly. Any help would be wonderful as I need to get this mix done ASAP.
Thanks:)

Powerbook 15" Mac OS X (10.4.10) 1.5 gig ram, Presonus FireboxOnce you have dragged the files into the arrange page, look at the channel strip for that track and make sure that the button at the button is toggled to mono. Each track in arrange can handle a stereo or mono file. The LED type thing which shows the level toggles between mono look ... and stereo look.

Help trying to bounce a mono track in place with autotune plugin
I am trying to render a vocal track which has an Antares Autotune plugin by using the bounce track in place. It works but no matter what I try, the new track is being created in stereo. The origional track is mono. What would I be doing wrong here? Thanks
JamesAh, Thank you, so you are saying that if I uncheck the Volume and Pan automation checkbox it should work. Maybe that's it then. My origional channel strip and regions are mono. I will try this and see what happens. I also noticed I don't have the last logic upgrade. I will also be upgrading. Thanks

Bouncing down to new track - mono!!
Hi - I'm using CS5.5 for Mac and I want to be able to bounce edited, joined, multi-clips to new tracks in mono. The original tracks are all mono - but the bouncing function always produces a new track in stereo. Is there a setting somewhere that I've missed (I have looked exhaustively).
As a workaround I have to use the 'convert sample' function in Edit view to create a mono track from the newly bounced stereo track and then add it back in to Multitrack view. This is extremely tedious in a complicated editing project.
Anyone else come across this?
Cheers

ignor SteveG, does not understand the question.
Understand the question perfectly - there isn't an answer because, as you have observed, the function isn't there at present.
I'm thinking I might as well just uninstall CS6 because to many featues from CS3 were removed in CS6 and I find it user UNFRIENDLY.
No features from Audition 3 (not CS3) were removed in CS6 (only it was actually CS5.5) - they simply weren't implemented in a complete rewrite from the ground up. Not all features were re-implemented, simply because there wasn't sufficient time to implement them all before the externally-imposed deadline arrived. Some, but not all, have been added back in successive iterations. Yes, it's pretty much by popularity I think, although some things will likely never return, as they've been superseded by newer implementations. A typical example of this would be Scripting.
What I pointed out (several years ago), possibly too subtly, was that there are alternative ways of achieving a mono bounce, and it's one of those that you have to use. I have no idea if the original 'bounce to mono' will be implemented - if you want it back, you'll have to submit a feature request.

Cant record in stereo , mono input (aux in) intel ALC270 [Solved]
Hi there, i've been reading the forum but i cannot get the right answer to this issue.
I am trying to capture audio with the microphone input connector.
I tried it using audacity (as i always did with other distros but now is not working) and with this command arecord -vv -fdat foo.wav
The thing is, i always end up with a mono audio file. I see in alsamixer the input/capture connector is stereo, i can see the Left and Right volume levels
but modifing those make no difference.
Something seems to tell the whole system to translate the stereo microphone into a mono microphone or something like that... i am no quiet sure, cause in audacity the recording track shows a stereo track although both channels have the same audio track, the right channel one...
i was using this same computer not long ago with fedora, and for like 2 years with slackware and always worked fine... i've been using archlinux for 4 months now and i came across with this while trying to rip some new cassettes i got.
Thanks in advance for your help pals.
Cheers!

Sharing a stereo track in Mono
Hi -
I just upgraded to 10.0.2. In the previous version of Garageband, I was able to specify that when I wanted to share my track to iTunes, I could have it export in mono. I have to play my track on speakers that aren't reliably set up to support good stereo, so this is a pretty critical function for me.
Is it possible to export the track to mono? I've tried changing the input to Mono on the track, but then I lost the left side of my audio. I want it to play evenly all the time out of both speakers.
Thanks!If you center pan all the material in your sequence it will be effectively mono. The output is always two tracks at least. You could make the output dual mono and send everything to one track and leave the other track empty, but I don't think you can export just one track of audio. Is there some special reason you only need one track?

[CLOSED] snd-hda-Intel model mono/stereo and alsamixer issues
DROPPED: I just installed the Windows disc that came with the laptop and the official drivers, while they work better (a 6 channel wav plays fine in the speakers, linux only plays 2 of them) the most important issues like mono output only in the headphones jack is repeated. It seems the hardware problem. I don't know how I break it, but I did.
When I installed Arch linux about this laptop about two years ago everything was working OK. "aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Right.wav" (and left) played in the corresponding speakers and headphones. "alsamixer" used to have two volume control bars per control, for left and right.
I can't pinpoint the moment but sometime in the last few months everything is playing as mono. Now alsamixer shows only one volume bar per control and "Master" can only to be (un)muted as mono. I can still mute the "Speaker" control individually using '<' and '>'. The "Headphone" volume control is ignored, neither volume nor mute work. And the strangest thing: when I mute the left Speaker it also mutes the headphones.
I never did any alsa configuration and so I'm assuming the model auto detection is broken. I tried a few model= options without luck. The problem is the laptop is brandless (pseudo-olivetti 750). Perhaps with some luck someone can help me identify which model should I use.
Physical Description:
The laptop has to on-board speakers and two jacks on the front, one labeled with a Microhone (slash) two things I cannot recognize and the other labeled SPDIF OUT (slash) Headphones. (I tried the only model described as 2-jack in the wiki guide without luck).

Thanks for any help, I tried most of the models listed as ALC883 (and some others) without luck, is there any other option that could cause this issues?

I assume the combination Vendor Id: 0x10ec0883 + Subsystem Id: 0x1584907e is what I should be looking for right? Google gave me three resuts from alsa project's DB: http://www.google.com/search?q=0x10ec08 … e&filter=0 resulting in two more models to try:
model=laptop (I'm almost certain I tried this already)
model=lenovo
I also didn't knew about alsa-info.sh so I downloaded, ran it and got this http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=9f7e7 … bf5c3ad9ea including:
!!DMI Information
Manufacturer: Standard
Product Name: L50IIX
L50IIX seems to be a board made by Uniwill and used by various companies which adds even more possible models:
model=uniwill
model=uniwill-m31
model=fujitsu
model=lifebook
model=fujitsu-pi2515
model=fujitsu-xa3530
It seems I have a lot of testing to do later, I will report back the results and hopefully will provide a solution for any lost soul who comes across this post in the future. Thank you. -
How do you combine 2 mono tracks into a single stereo track?
Question here:
How do I combine 2 mono tracks into a single stereo track in Logic?
I recorded using my left and right out of my keyboard to a hard-disk recorder (Korg d888). The files are made as two separate wav files. Is there way to combine these in Logic so I can treat it as one stereo track?
I have several files to do and am hoping Logic has something like a "combine tracks to stereo track" tool or something.Solo both tracks and bounce them with no effects and faders at 0 dB.

My IPad 2 external speaker does not work and the original headphones have popping sound when used. This all occurred at the same time as my IPhone and IPod headphones only plays mono (and no, the "mono" option is not on) with the original headphones, as well as, other headphones tested. How can there be audio issue for all these devices at the same time?
As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. So now, I am off to the Apple store again to be told that it’s a hardware problem on new IPhone. Really? Apple, what happen to the pride in the product you were producing?Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.
Peace,
P. Dreadie -

You can use a mono to stereo plugin. Spreader would be a good choice.

Hello,
I just purchased a Samsung ML2160 printer and it doesn't work with nor my Pages program, nor the Preview (to print PDF). No matter the way I tried, the Print function doesn't work and I cannot neither print or even enter the printer preferrences menu! My MacBook Pro has worked before with other printers, but now with the Samsung it doesn't work at all... Though, if I drag and drop a document, jpg, pdf in the printer queue, it prints just fine, but that method gives me absolutely no freedom to the printing... Could it be something from the Computer -> Machintosh HD -> Library -> Printers? Because a friend of mine was recently trying to save me some disk space, and therefore erasing part of the HP printer (to remove the previous printer I owned)...
If anyone has any idea, that would be much appreciated
Thank you in advanceDo the sensible thing, as you say neither Preview nor Pages print, try other programs eg TextEdit. If none of them print then it is a System problem and very likely the printer drivers are AWOL or were never installed.
Go to Samsung's website and download their software for the Mac:
