FM Radio problem in ZEN 20GB

Hi,
i've got a problem. FM Radio doesn't work at 96.00MHz, It works on all other frequences including 96.0 and 95.90 MHz... How repair that? My favourite radio station is on 96Mhz(Polish Tr?jka )

Try reloading the firmware for your Nano Plus - that sorts out most problems with these players. Go to Support, Downloads and choose MP3 Players, Zen, Nano Plus. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully.

  • Creative Zen 20gb (not sleek or anyother type like that) problems with subscription downlo

Does anyone know whether the Zen 20gb can play subscription downloads?I have been trying, and the micro version is almost identical and can do it, i don't know why my player cannot do it.

my zen sleek isn't on the playsforsure list yet it says it on the creative website, but if you download all the tracks into a folder and set windows media player to update the library on that folder, and sync it it should work because mine wasn't working at first on the napster program.
i am probably wrong as for it being able to work because your talking about the zen 20gb but mine wasnt on the napster website ( or whatever you use )

  • Zen 20GB (like the micro) Firmw

    Hi,
I have a 20gb ZEN (the one like the micro) with version .00.02firmware and was looking for the upgrade but the product isn't listed - the upgrade specifically says the for your , 4, 5 or 6GB Creative Zen Micro player.
HELP - WHERE IS THE UPGRADE :-(((((
    TIA
    Paul

It's only available in certain regions, so you'll only find the available downloads depending on what country you choose (ie, a quick check showed it's not listed in the US, but it is in Singapore). If there was a problem with your current player and you needed to reload the firmware, I think you'll have to contact Support if you can't find it on the downloads page. As far as I know, there aren't any firmware upgrades for this player.
    2027746,
FYI - the Zen 20gb is like a Micro on steroids. It's got the same design features and layout, but bigger.

  • Petition - Zen 20Gb (DAP-HD00

I have recently upgraded my music player from a zen micro to a Zen 20Gb and I am surprised to find that it is a step backward in terms of firmware.
The zen micro went to deep sleep mode after 4 hours. However this player is still using the old setting of 24 hours before going into deep sleep mode.
    This adversely affects battery life.
So I have decided to ask creative to change this setting in the future.
    Sign please if you agree.
    thanks

  • Problems booting ZEN 2

I have a ZEN 20GB that has been working beautifully for the last six months. Suddenly I am hit with the thing freezing while "Re-building Library" after I charged it. It then displays the "Firmware Problem" screen. I followed the instructions - ran Clean Up, ran Format All, Reloaded Firmware from Creative Site and I have a player that still freezes, refuses to accept any new mp3 files and makes a louder than normal clicking noise.
Question is: do I have an mp3 player thats hard dri've has corrupted or failed?
If anybody in the know can help me I would really be thankful.

Nope, no dice...the problems starts when the disks themself are recognized.
    windows - "sda" should be... sda1 sda5
    linux - "sdb" should be.. sdb1 sdb2 sdb3 sdb4
When 2.6.36 boots, it throws that around so..
    windows - "sda" ends up like this... sda1 sda2 sda3 sda4
linux - "sdb" ends up like this.. sdb1 sdb5
which leaves me clueless since the 2.6.35 kernel boots like it should..

  • Zen 20gb not being recogni

I got my Zen 20gb 3 days ago, installed the software fine, put music on it but now the device is not recognised by the software, however it gets recognised by the computer and the zen also charges. Any one else had a similiar problem or does anyone have any solutions?

    What software are you using?

  • Zen 20gb - Setup is unable to detect a supported device

    Trying to install my Zen 20gb (bigger version of the micro!) onto my work-laptop;
Unfotunately I cannot find the original installation disk, but I have downloaded the latest software from the Creative website. When I try to install CMS_PCAPP_LB_3_30_2.exe, I get a message "Setup is unable to detect a supported device...". Immediately before this, the Zen shows Docked, but then reverts back to the Play screen.
I have searched this forum and tried as many different soultions as I can find, all to no avail. I have installed NomadSync and that connects without problem... but why won't the "official" software?

Yep... already tried that. I've even used the Software AutoUpdate that says I need the:
    Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
Creative MediaSource Plugin for CD Burner 3.0.8
Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource
... so that is detecting the Zen, but when I try to install Media Source Player/Organizer, it can't detect it!

  • Zen 20GB (Bla

Hello, I have a major problem! I bought my Zen 20GB from Amazon uk last December and have only just got around to putting all of my CD's on it. I have got quite far with ripping my CD's until now!
The last 40 CD's I have ripped (useing the creative software) show that they have been ripped but when you try to look at them in the player (via the player and the creative explorer though PC) they are simpley not there, but it still shows that it is useing up memory every time I put one on!!!. I have coppied them over to my PC and formatted the player, and tried again but the same thing happenes. So I tried a Disk Cleanup. This left me with 7gb of memory to play with. It let me put one more on sucsessfully then no more! So I tried it a different way. Ripped a CD through WM player, then used the creative explorer software to transfer the newly made WMA file so I could actually see what was going on. It just says "Faled" on every song. I currently have about 3248 cd's ripped onto it with 7037mb of memory left (7gb)
I am computer literate in fact I am a computer operator so I know what I am doing, but am I missing something here? or has the player just given up on me. It works fine apart from that, plays music beatifully.

  • Zen 20gb Not Connected mess

Hello! Zen 20gb (old type) - had a few problems with it freezing, rebooting didn't cut the mustard so I decided to reinstall the firmware.
Removed the old firmware as per instructions and subsequently the Zen doesn't get recognised as being plugged into my pc to reinstall the firmware. I don't have a separate PC I can use - I've a Mac, but there's no software for the firmware I can download.
Any ideas? I just get 'device not connected' messages everytime I try to open the firmware installer.
    Thanks - JimmyRepo

  • Zen 20GB cannot turn

I have a Zen 20GB to which all of a sudden I cannot turn on . I have tried recharging it via the adapter for up to 3hrs with no luck. I have only had it for 3 mths now. How do I solve this problem? I have tried resetting it but this still does not work.

It's a bit unfair to berate Creative, as you bought a player either outside the intended region or "exported" it from the intended region. You can't expect European Support to be able to help with a player that isn't in their region, although you don't say if it was based on an autoresponse that you decided this or an actual email from a technician.
Ultimately if you buy a player from a different region you take a gamble, and Creative are actually pretty good at honouring warranties for players sold across regions.
If you'd care to re read my post they were both automated responses, however if as you allude you take a chance buying anything out of area, yes you are probably right as far as creative are concerened.

  • Zen 20gb poorly after fall, ide

Dropped it!Very unhappy at first. PC wouldn't find it on connection. Couldn't load library etc.Re-formatted etc. and tried everything possible. It is now found by PC but won't let me transfer anything ('failed' message). I suspect this means the end, but before it goes to the MP3 graveyard I'd like to check that I have exhausted every option. Any suggestions Otherwise, is it worth getting repaired I don't know where to go for this as the Creative site only seems to mention warranty repairs. I li've in Nottingham UK. I love it and the 20gb storage is great (I only use it for music). The newer Zen players either don't have as much storage or do a lot more than I need (for more money). Also, it was a special birthday pressie. Thanks Nick

The problem with harddisk player is the harddisk itself which is very fragile especially if the unit is on. When the player is dropped, it would be enough to damage the disk platter. When you shake the player, do you hear any sound which should not be there ?
As for replacement harddisk, you are pretty much on your own when it comes to replacing it. Before rushing out to getting a replacement harddisk, you might want to see if you can open the unit. Firstly, I am not sure what type of harddisk they use and it could be the IDE or the ZIF interface. And I am not sure if a replacement dri've of that capacity is available for sale in the open market.
I guess you can try asking Creative support but I doubt they would provide you with any information as to dissassembly the unit. It would probably be enough to void the warranty but I would think that the warranty period is probably long gone by now.
I know the harddisk mp3 playe are great value for money but they are fragile and any slightest force against it may damage it. That is probably why Creative is moving away from harddisk players.
In the end, you might be better off with a new flash-memory player. I have the Zen 20gb myself and I understand how you feel about it. It looks ugly but it just plays music great. I really do not want to lose mine.

I have a zen 20gb and when I turn it on it comes up with a message saying 'Firmware Problem'. Ive tried resetting it but it just does the same thing.

  • My Creative Zen 20GB won't turn

Ok, here is the problem. Up until yesterday, my creative zen 20GB (Not Touch, just the normal Creative Zen 20GB) was working fine and i was really happy with it. But then all of a sudden, it wont turn on. The strange thing is, when i plug it into the power adapter, it works, but it won't turn on when i press the power button. Instead, I have to wait for about 4-5 seconds and it turns on by its self, without me pressing anything. And when it does boot up, it acts as if i have just rebooted it, even though I haven't. And if i try to pull out the while it is on, it just shutsdown automatically. The power status icon is that funny little one that means it is fully charged and even if that icon is somehow wrong, and my battery is completely depleted, i had it charging all last night, so it must be at least a bit charged. Another strange thing is that it wont charge or turn on by its self (like it does when i connect it to the mains) when i connect it to the computer.
I have tried re booting and doing a disk cleanup but to no avail. I dont think it could be because i have left it charging because of the sights that i've seen, they all say that lithium ion batterys stop charging when they are fully charged, so i dont think i could have stuffed it by leaving it plugged in.
In summary, I am really stumped, any help would be appreciated but i fear unless it works its self out, i might just have to take it to get repaired.
    Thanks
    Nik
p.s please be quick in replying as i leave for holidays tomorrow and i wont be able to get to a computer for a while so i would love to have this resolved by tommorow

It would be difficult to determine if it's a confirmed battery problem, sicne the Zen 20GB's battery is built-in. However, from your description, it seems to be a very likely battery problem. Even a possibility of a damaged battery. Hence, I would advise that you call up customer support to determine the true cause of the problem. Oh yes, have you even left your battery fully discharged for say a week or something?

  • Creative Zen (20GB) - Availabil

    <SPAN>Hi,
<SPAN>I li've in the UK, and am currently deciding on an mp3 player to use both at home (to use with some speakers) and to take around with me. After looking at the Creative products I couldn't decide between the Touch (huge memory) and the Micro (great features and looks amazing!).
<SPAN>However, after seeing the Creative Zen (20GB) on <SPAN>http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=23&subcategory=24&product=59 this appears to be exactly what I am looking for.
<SPAN>After searching where to buy it, it seems that it is only available to buy from Asia, and after emailing Creative, they said that this player 'won't be available on the European market for a long time' and that 'It may take 6 months or more before it will be released'.
<SPAN>I would preferably like to buy a player in the next few weeks, and was wondering if there was ANY WAY in which I could buy this player from Creative (in Asia?)?
<SPAN><SPAN>If I was to buy it from Asia, would it work EXACTLY the same as it would when it comes out to buy in Europe (i.e. is it made differently for Asia?)?
<SPAN>I would like to buy a player which will store all my CD collection on so it would be preferable to have at least 20GB.
<SPAN>I would definitely like to buy the Zen (20GB) player at some point because it has both players? features, and so if it was not going to be available to me from anywhere would it be advisable to buy the Micro now and then buy the Zen (20GB) when it comes out, so that I can use them together?
<SPAN>Or would it just be best to get the Touch now (although I have heard some bad things about it, and I am attracted to the Micro apart from its memory!)?
    <SPAN>Thanks in advance,
    <SPAN>Sam

I've not heard that the sensitivity is worse on the touch than the micro, just that some people find them both a little tricky to get used too. I've also heard that some people find that if the turn the sensitivity to max (rather than the usual advice of turning it down) that strangely this works better.
I've never heard complaints about the screen display being worse
And my impression is that there seem to be more reliability issues with the micro. (headphone jack for starters)
DISCLAIMER: Having said all that, that is not to say that I am right this is just my impression, others may well think differently (and they may well be right as well )
Re: the Zen 20gbs if you really want you can get it now but I wouldn't be wanting to deal with the legalities and expense of shipping it to singapore to get it fixed under warrenty if there is a problem. Here is a linkhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...5775262832&rd=

  • ZEN 20GB Repai

Hi, I've got a much loved ZEN 20GB (similar to the Micro but bigger) and I've got "that" headphone jack problem. Now there's plenty of info on the tinternet about how to disassemble and repair the micro - but I was wondering if anyone had tried the 20GB model as there are differences..
BTW it's 3 months old - and because it was a gift I've no proof of purchase, and I threw the box away so no serial number - hence no help from customer support - ?Not even an offer to repair..... cheers. So - anyone been there, done that?TIA?ott3r
