FM to convert functional location to internal format

Hi all,
Is there any fucntional location that converts a funcitonal location to internal format?
Eg: Input to FM is : METER7
Output from FM should be : ?0100000000000000759
Please let me know.

Converting WBS element from internal format

HI,
I have data from R/3 rolling into ODS from datasource and it comes in as the SAP WBS internal format 12345 instead of AZ/12678/10000/2000 etc.
The WBS field on the datasource already contains a conversion routine but is there any way that I can get this data in the correct format when inserting into the ODS or when it comes into original datasource?

Thanks but I dont want to use it in the query I want to use it in the ODS as a lookup between another ODS which holds the WBS in the correct format.
So I have one ODS with the correct format, I want to use the WBS here to go to another ODS and use that WBS to look up the same value in ODS 2 and return a field from that where WBS1 = WBS2, unfortunatley I have teo different formats.

Function module for convert date as sap internal format ?

Hi All,
Is there any standard function module to convert the date filed as SAP internal date?
My problem is while uploading data from excel sheet date filed can be any format
for exp: dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy or yyyy/dd/mm or dd-mm-yyyy,mm-dd-yyyy
             dd-mm-yyyy or dd.mm.yyyy or mm.dd.yyyy etc...
In our case there is no particular format in excel it can be differ for each user. I know we have few FM's in standard.
But those are not working for my req. pls help me if you have any idea.

Convert to internal format

Hi!
nice question popping up again and again:
When entering any text value on a screen (dynpro) field, it is automatically converted to ABAP internal format.
This is done according to the technical characteristics defined in the underlying domain.
If a conversion routine is specified for the domain, it will be processed. I.e. conversion exit 'ALPHA' will used the function module 'CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT'.
Many (or most) domains are not connected to conversion routines. Date and numeric values are converted according to the user and/or language settings for external representation of dates and numeric values.
But: There seems to be no way to call those conversion routines from ABAP programs.
Why not?

To convert dates or numeric values in user-specific format you can use WRITE stmt.
data: odate(10),
onum(20),
value type p decimals 2 value '123456.78'.
write sy-datum to odate.
write value to onum.

Hi,
Use Function module CONVERT_DATE_TO_INTERNAL.
It will consider all types of date formats 10/16/2005, 6/16/2005, 10/6/2005 etc. Whether you will give 1 or 2 digits to month or date. You can also give 2 digits to year even then it will converts to internal format.
You need to give dates in User defined format otherwise it generates an exception DATE_EXTERNAL_IS_INVALID.

There is a particular way numeric values ( i mean, quantities like net weight and gross weight)gets stored as per the user setting. Like in india 3,000.00 , in US
they follow 3.000,00. Is n't it? Our thousands separator ',' for us is decimal point for them.
Whichever way user enters, I want to convert to the internal format as per user setting.
for this do we have to manually code anything or any standard FM is there for this?
If we have to code anything for it, How to go about it?

Table Link between the Functional Location and work order

Hi Gurus,
I am stuck in a big problem and have to find a way to list down the work order with a specific user status in the system. I am trying to link it based on the functional location as the inputs will have to be functional location and the date. Can any one guide me with the tables to link these two???

Hi,
Depending on your exact requirement, you might be able to select from view VIAUFKST_IFLOS. This would allow selection based on order, functional location and various dates. The field IPHAS will give you some system status information - value will indicate which status the order has reached. Example value = 3 indicates order is technically completed.
To get the exact system status (or user status) you need to read the JEST table. Read this table by OBJNR. The object number will have the format OR005000123456 (where 5000123456 is the order number). It will be available in the order tables.
Status values in JEST are in the internal format - example I0002 = REL. Check transaction BS23 to see the link. User status values will have the format E0002. If INACT flag is set in a jest record then that status value is not active. If you want to check for a specific status value then call function STATUS_READ.

You cannot specify the precision/scale or length of input paramters to a stored procedure in Oracle, or at least the pl/sql engine does not respect the sizing. Assuming that you want to do something with variable1 in the procedure, and not just return it, the Oracle equivalent would be something along the lines of:

The steps are given below:-
1) First get the name of your generated function module for the smartforms.
2) Then call the generated function module.
3) Then use the FM:CONVERT_OTF' to convert into PDF as shown below:-

ILOM0001 - functional location description (pltxt)

Hi,
problem:
the (same) description (PLTXT) of functional location has to be saved in TWO different languages every time any change is done on a functional location AND save is (pressed) processed.
User exit ILOM0001 is already implemented and can be used for further enhancements.
Open for any suggestions.

I already thought about a direct update of the IFLOTX table. But I also learned (: NOT to access standard SAP DB-Tables directly!
The user exit ILOM0001 is used only be the one project. So no issues on that end.

It's not causing a problem -> I have to realise the proper saving/update of the same description in two different languages every time the 'SAVE' is processed.
Users can logon in (2) different languages (international company). But in EDIT mode for the technical object (func. location) the description value has to be the same!

At last the problem was solved. (not that nice - but anyway)
- The functional location is created (and saved) using SAP standard BAPI's.
in the User Exit i put coding which INSERTs the same PLTXT (with respectively other language code) using SAP update function module for IFLOTX. this part runs only if transaction (sy-tcode) IL01 or a specific condition are set.
- During the process the user (always!) needs to modify some Data of the functional location. [1. SET PARAMETER ID ifl FIELD f; 2. call transaction IL02 and skip first screen]
in the User Exit there is bapi call - something like IFLOTX_UPDATE or - the existend PLTXT is copied into the Importing structure of the function module and the language is switched . The text is then modified after COMMIT WORK
It's probably not the best way - but it worked.
