FM to extract data from Datasource

Hi,
Can any one of you suggest me an idea or let me know where to start and how to start ?
I want to write a ABAP code/ create a Function Modules which extracts data from a DATASOURCE be it any on condition(say date) and the output given should be filtered on some fields
Does a standard datasource be extracted using a custom FM?
Are there any standard FM to do this?

go to the TX- SE80 and create the function group.
after take the FM - RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE

The issue we were facing was an Netezza issue. When import table into the Netezza Data Warehouse we import table into the wrong structure. We simple moved the table over to the right structure within the Netezza Data Warehouse and we were able to preview data from Datasource.

What happened?
    Error in the ABAP Application Program
    The current ABAP program "SAPLFAGL_FSV" had to be terminated because it has
    come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
Error analysis
    An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
    The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB', was not caught
     in
    procedure "FSV_TEXTS_CONVERT" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING
     clause.
    Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
    exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
    The reason for the exception is:
    If you use an ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert to insert a record in
    the database and that record already exists with the same key,
    this results in a termination.
    (With an ABAP/4 Open SQL single record insert in the same error
    situation, processing does not terminate, but SY-SUBRC is set to 4.)
Kindly help me out in resolving this error.

This dump occurs if the storage of original files is not happening in a Content Server, which is recommended by SAP. You can check this easily if you go to transaction DC10 and check if the flag 'Use KPRO' is set for the used document type.
SAP do not recommend storing such larger files in SAP DB. If you try to store any original in the SAP DB, the file will be stored in the table DRAO. That means you are consuming table space memory. For one original we can have maximum of 9999 rows in the table. To store larger originals in SAP DB more than 9999 rows in the table are needed and this is not possible. That's the reason behind this dump. Storing such huge files inthe SAP DB will also affect the performance of the system while accessing the original

error. it says "DO_WHILE_VARY_NOT_IN_RANGE"

Error while extracting data from Generic datasource

Hello Gurus,
I have encountered an error "Errors in source system" with status red while extracting data from generic datasource into DSO.
I have done below things:-
1. Checked the jobs in source system, the job is successfully completed
2. The generic datasource is active and supporting delta with calender day in source system.
3. No TRfc error and no idocs stucked.
4. No short dumps in source system.
5. The delta queue(RSA7) is showing 0 with status as green.
6. Replicated the datasource On BW side and also activated the transfer rules by RS_TRANSU_ACTIVATE_ALL
The problem has not yet solved. Could you guys please suggest me what might be the reason for this error......

I have used the generic delta using calender day.
Safety upper limit : - 1
Safety lowerr limit : - 0
I have made the entries in va01 transaction, but the delta queus is not getting updated which should show 1.
Do Generic extraction require any job to transfer data from Database table to delta queue.
We are not able to get the delta records on BW side. Please suggest.

Extracting data from multiple datasources through DAC

We have to extract data from two Oracle datasources (GL datasource 1 and GL datasource 2) by DAC client to one Datawarehouse. We have configured DAC for one datasource and it is working fine. How can we add another datasource into the same DAC client.

You will need to update the Source DB connections in both the DAC and Informatica Workflow before you want to load the DW with the other GL Database. You will contnuously have to switch these configuration settings or stand up another DAC Server, Repository and Client that point to the same Datawarehouse.

Unable to extract data from 0HR_PA_PD_2 datasource

Hi,
I am extracting the data from 0HR_PA_PD_2 (Appraisals) datasource to the cube 0PAPD_C02 (Appraisals).Though the data available in R/3 (83 records,checked in RSA3) it is giving the message "No data available in the source system".I checked the RFC connection,IDOCs,SM58 for any message.But everything is fine.In the status tab ,it is showing "Info IDoc received with status 8".But the data is available in R/3.
Please help me if any one faced this type of issue or is there any other steps has to be followed.

How to extract data from structures or create a datasource using structures

Hello Friends , I have a requirement to extract data from ECC fields, but when i go look the table i found only "structures" REBD_CONTRACT_REL_L and i confirmed with ecc team that there are no table available with these fields so how do i now extract the data in BI using the fields in ecc that exist only in these Structures.
Please help me to resolve this

Unable to extract data from an AS/400 system.

Hello experts.
We are trying to extract data from an AS/400 system but not having any success until now.
I´ll write down you the stepts that we have followed until now:
1.- Create a DB Connect between both systems
2.- Create a Source System from AS400 in the workbench under DB Connect Directory
3.- Generate datasources from tebles specified in the schema of the connection

At this point, we had a problem with some tables with at least one fieldname containing character "Ñ".
After asking some possible solutions to SAP, the told us this is not supported, as the system can´t have any object with character "Ñ", so the transfer structure was unable to activate with this fields in the datasource.

4.- After those issues, we´ve decided to implement, in another schema, views from those tables which had the fieldnames with that character "Ñ", changing them to an "N".
5.- We´ve created another source system with that schema, and user than can see that schema.
6.- To be able to see those views, in transaction RSDBC, we had to deactivate the two checkboxes in the first window ( Choose tables and Choose views) .
7.- Right afeter, we could generate correctly the datasources from this logical tables.
8.- We have designed the hole dataflow for this datasources and everithing went rigth.
9.- But wen we tried to execute the infopackage to extract data from those logic tables, we cannot get any registers. Acctualy the charge remains yellow after the job have finished.
Please, I would appreciate any help you could give us on this problem.

I´d like ti add something to this thread, and maybe clarify a littel bit the question.
The only way that the BW system recognizes those logical tables, through transaction RSDBC is checking out the two boxes on this transaction, "Select Tables" and "Select Views".
I don´t know haw these logical tables have been created, bus does this mean that the are not neither tables or views as BW understand them.
Please, if someone knows anythin about this, answer to this thread.

When i am extracting data from DSO to Cube by using DTP.
I am getting following erros.
Data package processing terminated (Message no. RSBK229).
Error in BW: error getting datapakid cob_pro (Message no. RS_EXCEPTION105).
Error while extracting from source 0FC_DS08 (type DataStore) - (Message no. RSBK242).

This is the brand new BI 7.3 system. Implementing the PSCD and TRM.
I have used the standard business content objects in FI-CA (dunning history header, item,activities) and standard Datasource (0FC_DUN_HEADER ,0FC_DUN_ITEMS, 0FC_DUN_ACTIVITIES). I have extracted data till the DSO level . when I try to pull the data to info provider level(cube) using DTP . I am getting fallowing error.
my observation: when ever I use the DSO as source to any target like another DSO or cube. its throwing same kind of error for any flow including simple Flat file .
please suggest any one whether do I need to maintain basic settings since its a brand new BI 7.3.
please help me out on this issue . I am not able to move forward .its very urgent

How can I join 3 tables while extracting data from SAP R/3?

I have 3 tables with the following columns
Emp table (emp)
emp_id
emp_name
emp_add
Dept table (dept)
dept_id
dept_name
dept_loc
Location table (loc)
loc_id
loc_name
Now. If I want to select data from loc_id = 10 and emp_id between 2000 and 3000
How to join these three tables while extracting data from R/3
join condition
loc.loc_id = dept.loc_id
and dept.dept_id = emp.dept_id
and loc.loc_id =10
and emp.emp_id between 2000 and 3000.
Could any one let me know the procedure to extract this data into BW system.

shouldn't your join condition be:
loc.loc_id = dept.DEPT_LOC
and dept.dept_id = ??
If you can join the three tables then create a generic datasource (RSO) based on a view (create your view with your join in SE11).
Enable the loc_id and the emp_id as selectable in the datasource so you can then select the values from a BW IPack.

I want to extract data from a Z-table from SAP R/3 system to Bw system. Currently I am on BW 3.5. Since it is a Z table I dont have a standard extractor for it & I dont knw how to create it. Can anyone provide me with the step-by-step documentation of how to extract data from a non standard SAP table????

You need to create Generic Datasource on the Z-Table you want to get data from
Go to RSO2 transaction to create generic datasource .
You need to give technical name of datasource under datasource type you want and click on create. Then you can give descrption and Application component under which u want see the datasource,
enter the z table name under view/ table and save.
here you can click on check boxes to make fields hidden or selection fields.

I have a scenario where i have to extract data from the fields of different tables. e.g. let there 2 tables which have some number of fields . I want the data of 3 fields each from these 2 tables. How can i get that??

You can create view in tcode se11..
here you include all tables from which you want to fetch the data..
you need to give selection condition here
eg..
say select empname from table A, select empadd from table B.. where empno(from A)=empno(from B)
(note that you dont need to write queries like this.. i have just given u the example)
After creating the view you can create datasource in RSO2..

Hi,
First you need to check if the tables are standard tables or custom tables. If they are standard tables check which extractors are using those tables.
If they are not being used by any of the standard extractors then you you need to create generic datasource for the same. The same hold true for custom tables as well. For custom tables, you'll need to create generic datasource. If you search the forum for generic datasources you'll get a lot of information.
Its very important that you understand the table relationships, data volumes, if delta is possible or not, data granularity, etc for your datasource design.
