FM Transmitter /  Car Charger

Anyone having issues with their car charger / fm transmitter working with their new iPhone?
My Car charger says that this device is not supported. Therefore, I have to go get a new one. Anyone have this issue and if so, have you found a car charger /fm transmitter that works and that is good?

I am also having the same issue. From what I have heard around town is that none of the old 3G and 3Gs FM/Car Chargers work with the iPhone 4. I don't understand why particularly since the usb cable is the same for every ipod and iphone I have ever used and the charger I have charges all of those but it doesn't work. I was told is was the iOS4 that actually negates the charger from working, which could be feasible since my iPhone 4 will connect to my charger and even charge for a % or 2 but then says it is not compatible.

  • FM Transmitter/Car Charger Compatibility

Apple Store item description indicates Monster iCarPlay 200 is compatible with 3rd Gen Nano. Purchased...didn't work on my iPOD, but did work on neighbors older gen. iPOD. Talked to Monster Technical and they said iCarPlay 200 was not compatible with 3rd Gen iPOD and that they had no other transmitters that were compatible. Can someone confirm that they have an FM Transmitter/Car Charger that is compatible with a iPOD Nano 8gb 3rd Gen. Obviously, I am a bit reluctant to trust Apple Store descriptions indicating compatibility.
    Thanks Paul

    I recommend this FM Transmitter:

  • IPod touch 1g not charging properly with car charger

I have a 1g iPod touch I'm using it with a Kensington 33199 fm transmitter/car charger. The iPod does not recognize the car charger power to put it into charge mode. The battery symbol does not change to a charging symbol...the unit does play audio out through the transmitter (which works fine), but it doesn't show the usual signs of charging. It seems to get a bit of a charge as the battery doesn't run down, but it also doesn't charge up. If I let the battery run down too far it won't work with the transmitter/charger at all.
Anyone have this kind of problem with a car charger? It charges fine hooked to the computer or directly to an apple wall charger.

If this is a 1G, then it should work. I haven't tried my 1G in the car yet, guess I should. I use a Griffin FM transmitter that charges as it plays back over the radio.
I'll let you know what I find!

  • Is there a car charger and fm frequency transmitter for iPhone with IOS6?

is there a car charger and fm frequency transmitter for iPhone with IOS6?

Here is something interesting about car chargers and the iPhone 3G:
    From Macworld:
On to the power adapters. Here’s the story: We learned a while back that iPhone 3G doesn’t support charging “via FireWire.” The thing is, there are lots of devices out there that don’t actually have a FireWire port, but are technically FireWire chargers because they’re sending power on the dock-connector pins that were used for power by the FireWire interface. There are a lot of reasons for this, chief among them the fact that the FireWire spec allows as much a 18 volts, while USB is a 5-volt connection. Since cars provide 12 volts of power, many if not most car-chargers used the FireWire method to send power.
However, in the interests of space and simplicity (i.e., not having to engineer for two separate power paths), Apple has dropped support for FireWire charging with the iPhone 3G. This means that many accessories won’t charge an iPhone 3G. Borchers said that Apple gave accessory developers a strong hint that this was going to happen a while ago, but he said that some companies have continued to implement FireWire-based chargers despite the warning.
But there’s some hope in sight: Borchers told me that at least a couple of third parties will be releasing converters that will pass through the dock connection, but convert the power to a USB standard. That adapter may make many of those charging devices come back to life

  • Recommend a Car Charger with FM transmitter

    Hi there,
I'm looking for recommendations for a good car charger for my 3GS that also has an FM transmitter so I can listen to music in my car. Something that plugs into a cigarette lighter socket.
    Thanks in advance

Your profile says you live in California, so unless you live in Humboldt County or somewhere along the eastern Sierra, there are going to be so many FM radio signals clogging the airwaves, you have no shot of a pleasant experience with an FM transmitter. Long ago, back in the early days of XM radio, I had one with an FM transmitter. I was constantly trying to find a good channel, but there was so much bleeding across the spectrum, that it just didn't work. However, watching the faces of people in nearby cars trying to figure out why my music was coming out of their radios was kind of worth it!
Most cars built these days have a AUX input, which gives the best sound. You can install one on almost any modern car using a Blitzsafe adapter. If your car is old enough to have a cassette, you can find an adapter at most electronics stores, and it works good enough.

  • My FM transmitter and car charger doesn't work with my new iPod Touch.

As stated in the subject, when I connect my new iPod Touch to the FM transmitter and/or car charger that I was using with my iPod video, it doesn't work. When I connect the transmitter alone, nothing happens and when I connect the car charger, a screen appears that says something like, "charging not supported with this device"
Has anyone experienced these issues? Or does anyone know of a solution???

I bought the new iPod Touch 3rd Gen 32Gb model on the day they were announced. This is my first iPod, but my wife already owned an iPod classic. I tried the car charger that we had bought for her older iPod and I too got a message something like, "charging not supported with this accessory".
I saw the previous response and went out to shop for a new adapter. I found a Belkin kit that included the auto 12v power socket adapter that one can plug a USB cable into. The unit came with a USB cable that plugs into the iPod docking port. The kit also came with an AC home adapter with one USB port. My newer iPod charges just fine with both of these adapters.
So I would agree with the previous post. The newer units need the newer USB charging adapter rather than the older basic 12v adapter.

  • Charging iPhone with iPod car charger/FM Transmitter - Damage battery?

I used a new ipod car charger/FM transmitter to charge my old original model iphone and got a message popping up that the device isn't made to charge the iphone but it would charge so I left it in. Ever since then, my battery seems to be dying much, much faster than normal. Could I have damaged the battery?

Possible that the circuitry or output levels of the charger was not an exact match to the desired voltage or resistance of the 30 PIN connector and thus caused an issue with the battery...but it's not very likely that this alone caused your battery to all of a sudden not hold a charge...

  • Car charger & FM transmitter

Could anyone suggest a car charger and fm transmitter that works well for the iphone 3gs?
    thanks

I've been told that NO FM transmitter really works worth a darn. I know I tried using one with the kids' Zunes a while back and just figured it didn't work well because it was cheap. I've been told here though that there really are no good ones. The best thing is to have your car stereo wired to connect with your iphone.
Car charger.... I have the one purchased from AT&T just because I am leary about leaving my phone charging unattended to an aftermarket charger.

  • New 5thG nano compatible with 4thG car charger/fm transmitter accessories?

As said in the subject, I was wondering +if anyone knows yet+ if the car charger/fm transmitters made for the 4th Generation Nanos are compatible with the new 5th Generation? If so, what's the most reliable charger/transmitter?

I have a FM transmitter which I use with a 2nd Gen Nano and it also works with a 5th Gen Nano. Hence I would assume a transmitter which worked with a 4th gen also works with a 5th gen. After all, it is all about the connector and that is always the same.
    Hope this helps.

  • What are my options for in car charging AND music playing for iPhone 3G?

Ok, before you direct me to the other threads, I have read them, and I still don't know what product I can buy for my 3G that will charge my phone and play music in my car.
With my original iPhone I was using the Griffin iTrip FM transmitter. It always gave me that message to ask if I want to switch to airplane mode. I would pick yes or no, then it would charge and play music.
When I plug in my 3G I get the yellow triangle warning that says this device doesn't charge this phone (paraphrasing of course). It appears that it will play music, but if it won't charge my phone then I'm going to run the battery down fast. I rely on being able to charge my phone a bit during the day in the car.
I do not have any AUX port in my car or any kind of iPod hookup in my car that I am reading about on other threads. As far as I know, an FM transmitter or a cassette adapater (I do have a tape deck) are my only options. However, since my husband's car that I drive on the weekends to work does not have a tape deck, I would really prefer a device that does not use a tape (also my previous experience with a tape adapter is that they stop working after a short while).
The power port in my car is nearly at the floor, nowhere near the dash, so any device I use cannot require me to rely on the "on device" controls to control the music.
    I see this on amazon
*Griffin PowerJolt Car Charger for iPod and iPhone (Black)*
    *Technical Details*
*¿ Enjoy full use of your iPod or iPhone during car trips, and arrive with your battery fully charged.*
*¿ Includes detachable Dock Connector to USB Type A cable that can be used separately to connect your iPod or iPhone to your computer.*
*¿ Includes USB Type A to mini-B cable so you can charge while using Griffin iTrip or other dock connector devices that have built-in pass-throughs.*
*¿ 2 Amp automotive blade-type fuse protects against spikes and surges and is easily replaceable.*
*¿ Works with iPhone, iPod models that feature full-size dock connector, and iPod shuffle (1st generation).*
And in another thread, people reported that the Griffin powerjolt DOES work with the 3G, so does the above description mean that I can use this device with my iTrip to charge and play music?

My Pioneer iPod car audio adapter cable does NOT charge my iPhone 3G and they have no plans to change this at this time.
I have a cheapo Griffin car iPod charger (the kind that has a plug for the cigarette lighter and a separate cable that has a mini-USB on one end and a dock connector on the other) and it DOES charge my 3G iPhone.
Go figure, but for now there it is.
Someone HAS to be working on an adapter that goes between the 3G iPhone and a dock connector device to fix this charging issue (which I guess has to do with the last iPhone and many iPods being able to charge via USB at 5V and/or FireWire at 12V but the new iPhone only charging via USB at 5V)

  • Car charger doesn't fit with bumper case!!!!!!!!!

    Hi
Just got my new bumper case on the free offer and it look great BUT my car charger doesn't fit with the case on ( I have tried 2 different types)
    The house charger fits fine.
The car chargers were bought of the net, will I need one form the apple store to get it to work.
Has anyone esle had this problem?
This is my first I phone and its brilliant but this case fiasco is annoying!!!!
    Cheers Sandy

    Hi,
This is an unfortunate fact. Some aftermarket products don't fit. I have an iTrip and I had to modify the plug to fit in. Simple with a dremel tool. File will work too. Cheaper than buying a new charger/FM transmitter.

  • Vision M - In car, charging with USB continuosly

Hi, i checked few post, but did not find anything that can give me clear answer.
I want to keep my visionM in car all the time and charge it thru' USB continously.
Problem is, player is using power faster that charging itself thru' USB, resulting in loss of all power in couple hours.
I use FM transmitter and USB charger ( i tried 4 different kind for better performance)
does anybody have success doing this ? keeping Vision M playing music in car whenever Car is running thru' USB
    THanks
    Ken

Don't use the Generic one as it can damage the player, The cell phone one doesn't output enough juice for it.Can't say about the SanDisk one. The older the battery the less playtime it will output. Age of the battery has more to do with it than use of it. So the charger itself would be my guess. Get either the car charger that is made for the Playstation Portable (a real one) or the one Creative makes. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...duct_id=396047

  • Need input on Kensington Digital FM Transmitter/Auto Charger for iPod

Hey everyone, i am thinking about picking up a Kensington Digital FM Transmitter/Auto Charger for iPod. I have a 30 gb ipod video. I just wanted to see what everyone thought of this and how well it works. thanks in advance... oh and btw the car i will be using it in is a 2005 Toyota Corolla Sport

I am wondering the same thing. I have a 20GB ipod with color (one generation behind the ipod with video) and am looking for an FM transmitter that is better than the Griffin itrip, which sounds like it is a bad product.
