FM tuner for Lumia 928

Where is the FM tuner for the Lumia 928? Does the Lumia 928 have an FM tuner and it is just not available or was this left out of the 928 all together? I just installed the Amber update from Verizon, but don't see the Radio Tuner as being added. This was a feature on my Windows 7 phone I really enjoyed.

You did not buy your phone from Nokia so why should Nokia refund you for any reason. You bought a Verizon product (made by Nokia). It was never stated the 620 would be the ONLY model not having the hardware to allow for FM radio to be activated through GDR2.
Here's a table of features as they would be available (source). The source is usually very reliable, I suggest you go and ask them for their source on this as I could not say..

  • Update 3 for Lumia 928

Does anyone know when Update 3 will be pushed to the Lumia 928? This update has new features that I need to use on my phone that are currently unavailable

Why is it everytime someone asks about UPDATES for our phone at Verizon, some representative at Verizon comes on here and turns it into a TROUBLESHOOTING issue?  Updates provide ADDITIONAL benefits to our phones that NO AMOUNT OF TROUBLESHOOTING IS GOING TO ADD!  For example, the Nokia Black firmware update ADDS the ability to add notifications to the Glance screen.  It also gives us the ability to use the new features such as Nokia Beamer.  Update 3 to the operating system allows us to close apps directly from the app view, adds the ability to use Nokia Folders.  ALL of these things are ADDITIONS to the phone, not problems to be fixed!  What customers are asking for in these forums is information regarding when these additions will be available to download to our phones.  I went through all of this with Verizon with my Samsung Galaxy Nexus and was about to leave Verizion and go back to AT&T, but decided to give Verizon another chance to see if they would handle the Windows Phones better than the Android.  I recently read where J.D.Powers certified results of a study that recently showed customer satisfaction at AT&T ranked HIGHER than Verizon.  Perhaps these HUGE delays in getting updates out to customers plays a big part in that, as well as the lack of consideration by Verizon to keep us customers informed as to the status of these updates.  This is my last chance with Verizion.  Get these updates out FASTER and provide more feedback regarding the status of the updates, or lose me as a customer!  FINAL WARNING!

  • Email question for Lumia 928

    Hello,
After responding to an email, my phone saves the sent email address.  So, even if I am only going to send 1 email to that address, it is permanently stored on my phone.  Is there are way to remove those email addresses from my phone and make sure that they (and other unwanted) email address do not auto save?  BTW, they do not show up in my "people" app.
    Thanks in advance.

No, history of mail addressee is a rollover and it will be removed once the queue is full. Except for carrying out a complete phone reset you can't erase this unfortunately.

  • Factory Reset doesn't work on Spinning Gears lumia 928

    Hello,
Last night i was struck with the Spinning Gears on my Nokia Lumia 928.  I researched it a bit to see what i could do to fix it, sadly it didn't help much. most people said to Factory Reset the phone (Up volume, down volume, power, down volume.)  But it does absolutely nothing at all. I get no ! when i reset the phone. All it does is show the word Nokia then spinning gears. People also said just reset it a few times and it will work, from wen i started counting i reset it over 30 times and let the gears spin for 8 hours. The phone doesn't charge ether but it will stay on if it is plugged in. Im out of ideas on how to fix this phone, and i rather not wait a few days for them to send me a new one IF they even do send me one.
If anyone has any ideas for me peoples let me know. Even if the idea is, you cant do anything bring it to the store thats fine i just wanna know if theres anything i can do.

I am stuck here.  I have had the Lumia 928 for about 2.5-3 months now.  I have decided to go back to Android, but want to give the phone to my son.  I went to do a Factory Reset and have been stuck on Gears for 2 days.  I have let the battery drain, removed the SIM, and did the following from the Nokia Support Site 5-6 times.  No luck, can you help?
    Step 1
Press and hold power and volume down key.
    Phone vibrates (release the keys)
Right after this press and hold the volume down key down
Exclamation mark is shown on the screen (release the volume down key)
Step 2Then input the keys in the following order:
    Volume up
    Volume down
    Power
    Volume down
    Step 3
The phone will reset and boot up automatically. Please note that this may take several minutes.

  • Nokia Lumia 928 MMS issues on unlocked device

I'm a Finnish guy and using Elisa as a carrier.
I got the chance to purchase unlocked Lumia 928 with a decent price so I checked its specifications (GSM Arena site) and also found out it could be used internationally.
It seemed to be a brilliant phone (and it sure is) so I purchased it.
But now I'm facing the problem with the MMS messages. All settings are just OK and I can send MMS messages successfully but I cannot receive them. The phone announces that "you've received a message which has media content" but when I try to open the media content, nothing happens.
This seems to be quite common problem (at least when I'm reading those most popular Windows Phone discussion forums) but I haven't found a solution to it. Someone has just said that because the phone is made for a particular carrier, it has "specialities" in its firmware. Well, the phone uses same MMS settings for sending and receiving MMS messages so how come MMS messages won't get thru to my phone correctly? I'd also like to know how the MMS firmware settiing are different between Lumia 925 and 928???
And most of all I'd like to get a remedy/solution to fix the problem from Nokia/Microsoft people Thanks a lot in advance!

Well, I suppose that even though Verizon has ordered these phones from Nokia, all the settings, applications and characteristics were preloaded to the phone at the factory. So in other words Verizon would've delivered preconfigured things to Nokia before the manufacturing process and would not start to fiddling around (=to install all the setting, apps and characteristics) when they received the phones from Nokia.
Therefore someone in Nokia/Microsoft must know the differencies between the stock firmware and the Verizon firmware, especially if we're now talking about these MMS issues. And I wanna know it. If I'd ask the same question from Verizon, they probably would not know the difference between those aforementioned firmware.
It's not rocket science, I guess it's just because of those preloaded/-configured differencies between the stock and the Verizon firmwares...

  • Nokia Lumia 928 Texting Problem

Just upgraded to the Lumia 928 (white) yesterday. A few hours after getting home with the device I realized I was not receiving text messages. I began to troubleshoot to the best of my knowledge. I can send/receive calls, send/receive picture messages, and send texts. The only thing I can't do is receive texts. I have had two friends both attempt to send me texts multiple times with no luck. I plan to go back to verizon today for their assistance, but was maybe hoping someone else in the forums was having the same issues. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi there Lloyd,
I had the same problem with my new 928. Doing a complete shutdown and restart fixed the issue for me. I held the middle button on the phone until the shut-down dialog opened, used that to power down and restarted about a minute later. I've had no issues with text since doing that.
Hope this helps you (and that you are having as much fun as I am with the totally awesome phone).
    Regards,
    Andy.

  • Nokia Lumia (928) Problem.

I've recently been having this problem with my Nokia Lumia 928, I was doing a reset (Factory Reset) on my phone when I've been on spinning gears for a few couples last night. Waited and nothing, so I looked around and tried find other solutions.
I did the soft reset/hard reset but all I've been getting is the low battery, I plug it into the charger for a good 30 minutes + But still won't turn on and still saying it is low battery. I tried doing the resets again but basically all I'm getting are the two, spinning gears and the low battery. Also, while it's charging it randomly go'es to the spinning gears.

    Dear Juan,
Try this... taken from another forum... it really works:
    =============================================
After spending 8 hours trying to recover from spinning gears following a hard reset, of all the methods I tried, this is the one that worked:
    -Phone was showing spinning gears
    -Battery was low
    -Took Sim card out
-I logged into find my phone and erased my phone using the on-line feature:https://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/my
-Let it sit for 1 hour then turned it off
-Press and hold the Volume down & Power buttons until the phone vibrates then release the power button but keep pressing the volume down key for approximately 10 seconds until you see a low battery on the screen.
    -If you don’t get the low batt and you get the Nokia lego then press the following buttons in this order;
    --Volume UP
    --Volume DOWN
    --POWER
    --Volume DOWN.
-Your phone will now automatically reboot and try again till you get the low batt
-When the low batt shows up do nothing, it will turn off by itself
-Let sit for 1 hour and turn back on
-Press and hold the Volume down & Power buttons until the phone vibrates then release the power button but keep pressing the volume down key for approximately 10 seconds until you see a low battery on the screen.
-Plug your phone into the charger when you see the low batt
    -If you don’t get the low batt and you get the Nokia lego and go back to the spinning gears of death then press the following buttons in this order;
    --Volume UP
    --Volume DOWN
    --POWER
    --Volume DOWN.
-Plug your phone into the charger when you see the low batt but not till you see it
    -Now press the following buttons in this order;
    --Volume UP
    --Volume DOWN
    --POWER
    --Volume DOWN.
-Your phone will now automatically reboot it will show the spinning gears again but within 10 mins it will start up as a new device.
    =============================================
    Kind regards,

  • Ok so after the "Black" update on my Lumia 928 the flash decides to stop working,

and yes I checked all settings and reset camera setting, ended up doing a hard reset and it started working again.... Only to go out again a couple days later, For a month and a half old phone I'm sure am dissapointed with this one so tell me Verizon, what should I do? Honestly I'd just like to swap for another one as it has other glitches too.... It doesnt have a scratch on it so please give me some guidance here!!!!

Thanks to all of you, they did send me a B Stock "Like New" replacement but the flash works like a champ and it has no more problems than the new one did, sometimes it acts like im typing when i'm not and I have to shut it off and back on, and sometimes I go to unlock it and the home keys at the bottom light up but the screen doesn't, just usually have to give it a min or two and it whips itself back into shape, honestly I've worked for both Verizon and AT&T and have been an android guy for years. I'm really banking on Verizon pushing Windows Phone 8.1 to the Lumia 928 soon because if has half the improvements as Windows 8.1 did for my laptop ill be a happy camper. If it doesn't come I'm gonna complain like crazy about the issues above and hope I can swap back to Android on a new Galaxy S5. Verizon Wireless Customer SupportElector

  • Lumia 928 Handset Speaker Defect

    Greetings,
Is there any news regarding the headset speaker defect in the Lumia 928 series?  I currently have a warranty replacement on the way from Verizon that is affected by this, and am concerned that the next one may have the same issue.
For the unfamiliar, this problem exhibits itself as intermittent audio from the handset speaker; bluetooth, speakerphone, and headphone/mic function normally.  As an electronic engineer and judging from the reported symptomsof others and my phone's exhibited behavior, I'd guess that it's the result of cold solder joint somewhere in the upper portion of the phone. It doesn't seem to be an issue with the headphones erroneously activating (normally, when the phone detects headphones the Dolby options appear under advanced audio settings -- it does not when the sound issue is occurring.)

Are there certain model #'s or serial # batches that are known bad with this defect?  Has your quality control/manufacturing division rectified the issue in newer devices?

I had the same problem. Tapping the phone on my leg worked for awhile, but then that didn't work anymore. I looked at a YouTube video http://youtu.be/ie2LCenXf9Y?t=7m that shows how the phone is assembled. Looks like the earpiece is just snapped into the phone. The earpiece is shown at about 7:00 into the video.
So, rather than send my phone back and get another with the same design problem, I just squeezed the phone with my thumb right over the earpiece (without disassembling the phone) to reseat the earpiece. Suddenly the earpiece works great! It's not a permanent fix, but it seems to work every time I have the problem, and it does last for awhile.
I think this quick fix will last me until I can upgrade my phone - hopefully to a 1030 or whatever the next Lumia flagship phone is!

  • Lumia 928 Black Update outside US

Well I know the update is not yet out for 928, but assuming it will be available soon, I have a question that has been bugging me.
I live in Turkey, and bought Lumia 928 last summer, while I was in US. Since the 928 is only made for US by Verizon, so when I check the update availability page for Turkey, naturally 928 is not listed. But my question is, when the update will be available for 928, will I able to download it, although I live in Turkey, and the phone is not listed in the update page for Turkey? Or maybe if I change my region back to US in settings will I be able to trick the phone get the update??
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will get the update when it becomes available for your phone.

  • Lumia 928 update problem

My Lumia 928 Didn't Show Me Update Notification And Whenever I Try To Search For Update From Setting It Says That My Phone Is Up To Date But I Don't Have The Lumia Black Update ; My Brother update his phone from first day ! can you help me plz ...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

@jode Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions.
Can you tell us the current firmware version number of your phone? To check, you may go to Settings > About. Do you have a stable Wi-Fi or a cellular data connection? You may also try activating and de-activating the Airplane mode under Settings. Also, check if there's an update for the phone system apps. See this: Lumia System Updater And then, try again.
Let us know how it will go.

  • Problem with my Lumia 928... started after Amber update.

First, I to state that I love my Lumia 928 and the Windows Phone 8 OS. Second, I've been a Third-Party Microsoft developer for over 14 years and just started developing for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. So, I'm not a normal consumer but one that will try everything in my toolbox before asking for help or even writing posts like this.
    History:
As of October 6, 2013, Verizon is sending me a new phone (not guaranteed to be new. ) to see if that fixes the issue
Used for work and personal emails so I can't just go and do a "hard" reset without have extreme headaches.Last resort before I get my "new" phone, I've broken down and started doing a "hard" reset (actually this is my second time).
No damage to the phone (Verizon employee has confirmed these, hence the new replacement)
    No cracked screen
    No frame cracked
    No water damage
Shortly after the Amber update, I started having problems. In order of oldest issue first.
Lock upsRandom apps just freeze. No rhyme or reason. No pattern. Just all over the board.
No touch responseSide buttons work but that does be no good when I can't select anything on the screen. Solution, "soft" reset and things are good... for a while.
Phone call speakerStarted losing phone calls. Thought it was a signal issue until I noticed that the call were not actually dropped. Speaker just started cutting in and out (completely) and sometimes it would just dim to almost nothing and then come back.
    Microsoft account
This is new as of October 5, 2013
October 4, 2013, nothing was wrong. Then the next day, my Live account associated with my phone stopped working. Keeps saying "Not up to-date". Had to create another account to get my emails. As of today, it's still not working. Unfortunately, I didn't write down the error code so I can't post that here.
Is anyone else experiencing these issues after the Amber update and if so, what did you do to resolve it (if you did)?
    Thanks,
    Stu

The Amber update came to our Lumia 928 and we had just activated it like one or two weeks prior, so we were just getting to know the phone.  In answer to your difficulties following the Amber update:

Lock upsRandom apps just freeze. No rhyme or reason. No pattern. Just all over the board.  The only "freeze" or app problem I recall is the GREEN SCREEN when opening the camera, happened once, and a power off and restart fixed it.  The problem has not come back, to date (this was several weeks ago).
No touch responseSide buttons work but that does be no good when I can't select anything on the screen. Solution, "soft" reset and things are good... for a while.  I have heard of this happening to others, but I have not personally experienced the screen freeze issue.

Speaker just started cutting in and out (completely) and sometimes it would just dim to almost nothing and then come back. I've had this happen on a couple of calls - the caller becomes very garbled and static filled.  I've had to hang upand call back - and they say the same thing happens on  their end, my voice is all garbled, like I'm underwater or something.  Not all calls, and not frequently, but maybe once every couple of weeks.

My screen is cracked due to a drop, prior to the Amber update.  (Yeah, it was nearly brand new when I dropped it   )  That doesn't seem to affect the overall function of the phone though.
So, to sum, I am experiencing some of the issues you described, but I'm not sure it's Amber, maybe just the phone design itself.  I don't know that a "new" phone will resolve things either.  Please do keep us posted...

  • Lumia 928 - FM radio, Why did you not enable it ?

    Hey all,
I am really upset about this. For months I have been expecting and waiting GRD2 update to give me the FM radio feature and Now it finally comes down and it does not have FM radio on it. WHY ??????
Nokia publicy said that ONLY the Lumia 620 does not support FM radio. I can quote someone from the Nokia 800 number that the hardware supports it but waiting for the software update. I have seen on a site where the phone was pulled apart and confirmed it has the correct chipset for it. Microsoft enabled it in that version of the software (the version on my phone matches what Microsoft shows). With all the info that I have found, this phone 100% supports this feature, why was it not enabled ?
I use it to listen to sports radio, I can't get streaming but, I can get over local FM. Never mind streaming uses data as FM radio does not use any. MLB wants to charge me $40+ a year to stream games that I can get over FM.
This was a very long waited feature and I sold a HTC 8X to move to the Lumia 928, THe HTC 8X IS getting FM but, the high end 928 does not ?
The phone does not support it is BS, I want real reason WHY it was not enabled. Is this because Verizon did not want it enabled or is this because Nokia didn't want to enable it ?
No excuses any more, what is the story here ?

It's a bit silly to buy something and expect it to have a certain feature in the future based on rumours, not facts.
Several WP8 models lack the required internal hardware to enable FM radio and Nokia never claimed that these models would ever get that feature. The missing hardware could be antenna linkages or even chips but thats irrelevant because it is not possible to enable FM radio on those models. If you want an official statement you need to contact Nokia US directly as they are responsible for that model. The users and moderators of this forum don't have access to information about decisions between Nokia and Verizon on whether a feature should be included or not.
All you can do is either buy an external FM headset, live without the feature or sell your phone. Either way there is nothing more that can be said here or done about it. Arguing about who's fault it is or why it doesn't have it is just pointless.
