FM2-A75MA-P33 - no video/post/bios/beeps.

Hi everyone,
I built a PC with these parts:
APU: AMD A-Series A6-6400K X2 SFM2
Motherboard: FM2-A75MA-P33
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 4GB DDR3 PC3-14900 CL10 BLS4G3D18ADS3CEU
HDD: Seagate BARRACUDA 500GB 7200RPM 16MB ST500DM005
PSU: Corsair VS350 ATX2.31 350W CP-9020052-EU
When I first turned it on, it got no video, so I assumed it was that the BIOS is too old. I borrowed an external GPU, attached it and was able to get to BIOS. The BIOS version was V11.1, so the APU should work (according to the MSI website). In any case, I flashed it to V11.2 and still no changes. No video/post/bios/beeps when using the onboard graphics.
The BIOS displays the CPU name properly, even with the Radeon xxxxHD in the name, but when I go to the Integrated Graphics Devices Configuration in the BIOS, the only option there is Initiate Graphic Adapter set to PEG and it's grayed out, can't change it.
Not sure if it is relevant, but when removing the RAM it does not beep, neither with or without the external GPU.
Also I have noticed, that without RAM, when the fans speed up and then slow down, the power button has to be long pressed to turn off the PC. But when having the RAM and GPU, when it goes through the boots and sees that there is no OS, it displays a message and can be turned off by a short press on the power button. Same thing happens without the external GPU, but there is no video output, so I assume it does go through the boot process.
I've tried both the VGA and the DVI port, with cables and a monitor that works on another PC, I've also tried to clear the CMOS and flashed bios back to V11.1 (the one the motherboard came with).
I saw somewhere mentioned that the Initiate Graphic Adapter option can get disabled do to overclocking or some other BIOS settings (I have the default settings though). Is there anything I can try changing to enable it?
I am also thinking of installing on OS with the external GPU in it, and then maybe the video will output after it successfully boots.
I guess I could also try reseating the APU, but not sure if that would help.
Thank you in advance!

what external VGA you use?
can you boot when using onboard one ?
do you see anything on the screen?
is there any beeps?
The external GPU I use is Asus GT 620.
I am not sure if I can boot with the onboard one, as nothing is displayed on the screen when using the onboard one. It might go through the boot process and stop when detecting that there is no OS installed yet. I'll try to see if it boots to LiveCD when I get home or install an OS using the external GPU.
When using the onboard GPU, I do not see anything on the screen.
There are no beeps.

  • FM2-A75MA-P33 BIOS Update

Hi, i just bought the FM2-A75MA-P33 and a new richland cpu A4 4000. The stock bios doesn't support Richland CPU's and the latest bios on MSI's web is a exe file. According to MSI you need a Trinity cpu to update the bios to support richland CPU's. Is there any way around it? Of course i don't have any Trinity cpu's at home (who has a cpu stock anyway?). Or should i just return it and get a gigabyte or asus mobo where u can update the bios without any problems?
    Thanks.

Once again: it needs to be flashed the .exe way! If you are afraid to do it let it be done.

Either you flash it with the .exe method yourself or you let it be flashed at your expense by MSI or any pc-shop. It's your choice. Otherwise switch to a Trinity cpu. A Richland cpu requires a bios that supports it.

  • FM2-A75MA-P33 sleep issue

Just built up a new system running the FM2-A75MA-P33 and the AMD A8-6600K processor.  The computer will sleep just fine when the "Resume by PCI or PCI-E Device" box is unchecked.  The problem is that I want this box checked so I can utilize WOL.  As soon as I check the box and attempt to sleep the computer, it wakes right back up.  I have confirmed that the only devices that are armed for wakeup are the HID Mouse, HID Keyboard, and NIC.  Running Windows 8.1 x64 RTM.  Running 11.3 BIOS version.  Running 13.10 Beta version of AMD APU drivers.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Yep, already saw all of that, but thanks for the info.  My settings are set correctly.  I even have it setup to "only allow a magic packet to wake up the computer" and it still won't stay asleep.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Modify vcore cpu in FM2-A75MA-P33

hello , (sorry for my english language, i'm french)
I have a FM2-A75MA-P33 with a x4 750k , and i would like to increase vcore cpu, but there isn't this option in bios...??
Before i buy this motherboard, i have read the manuel in msi website and i have seen the option, but now i have it, no option in bios...
Is there a thing to do to activate it in bios ??
    thanks for your answer

    Same problem here...
The manual shows that the vcore can be modifiable but any bios from A1 to B3 has this option.
    MSI fix this!!
Moreover on latest B3 bios there is options on bios that are textbox instead selectbox  or empty!!!

  • MSI FM2-A75MA-P33 Memory Support

Hello, i have a question. Will the Patriot psd34g133381 ram memory work with the MSI FM2-A75MA-P33 motherboard? The Patriot psd34g133381 is not listed as a supported ram memory for the MSI FM2-A75MA-P33 mobo on the official site, but is there any chance that it will still work without any issues with that mobo? Thanks in advance.

It should be OK. Just because it was not tested doesn't mean it won't work. It's impossible to test all of the RAM available on all of their MBs.

  • FM2-A75MA-P33 & Win7 64Bit Storage Drivers

Looking for the 64Bit AHCI Sata drivers to install Win7 using this Mobo.  I was able to install the 32Bit drivers that came on the CD with no problems, but none of the 64Bit drivers work (CD or on the MSI website).  Has anyone had any luck loading the 64Bit drivers using this Mobo and getting windows to detect the controller on install?
    Thanks

Right after I click to install Windows 7 (when booting off the install DVD), it starts scanning for Controllers/disks to partition/install onto.  The screen then states that it could not find any controllers/disk and prompts to load a driver.  I had no problem loading the 32Bit drivers for AHCI from a fresh install when I only had 4GB RAM in the system, but now I've installed 8GB of RAM and thus re-installing Win7 for 64Bit support.
It's running a  AMD A10-5800K Trinity 3.8GHz CPU running the latest BIOS
    Thanks!

  • FM2-A75ma-p33 does not detect HDD's

The board will not detect the HDD's. There are two of them. They are connected SATA. They are detected by my other PC. I have switched out the power supply unit already. The BIOS will not detect them. I have tried using IDE mode (which wasn't really needed since I am going to be installed Windows 7, but I figured it couldn't hurt). Still did not work.
I cannot update the BIOS through the ZIP or EXE as there isn't an OS on that computer yet. I need the BIOS file in order to do it. How do I get the BIOS file so I can update the BIOS from the utilities in the BIOS?
     Any suggestions?

You don't need an OS. The .exe can be flashed in dos too. Create a boot stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.msg1209899#msg1209899) and start the .exe from there.

  • FM2-A75MA-P33 Memory Issue

    Hello,
i got 2 Memory Sticks, each 2Gb. When both of them are plugged in, i can not even Boot an Installtion Media; the System crashes at once. ( I can see the Bios, 4Gb are recognised)
When only one Module is on the Board i can boot and install Windows or Linux. It does not matter which Module or which slot is used, both are working, but not together.
I have updated to latest Bios Version 11.3, now I can ran a Boot Media, but the System crashes and reboots when the Start Logo comes up.
Using the Board above; Cpu A4-5300 ; and a Pair of HammerRam 1333.
Are there any there anySettings I can choose in the Bios?
    Regards

    Hello,
still no luck changing the DRAM Voltage. I think it is locked in the Bios.
The only Entry for Dram Voltage is to find in the "Overclocking Settings". All Entrys i can change are written in Brackets []. Dram Voltage is not.
Btw: Dram Voltage is jumping between 1.464>1.472 both Values are too low..

  • FM2-A75MA-P33 + A10-5800K

Anyone experienced this combination to be stable?

The psu doesn't only look crappy but it is technically. None the less try the suggested: Quote from: flobelix on 14-June-13, 03:54:37
Clear cmos (>>Clear CMOS Guide<<) and try both sticks indivdually. If no help try a better psu as your one is quite crappy. Also try a different SATA cable for the HDD.

  • Issues attempting to flash 2.0 BIOS on FM2-A75MA-E35

OK, so I'm planning to put a Richland APU into my FM2-A75MA-E35 as soon as these come out. In preparation for this, I've attempted to flash my BIOS to 2.0, which did not work.
Some background information, I've flashed the board before without issues, up to version 1.8. The process to flash 2.0 is entirely different now, in that you need to boot from a bootable usb stick, and then run E7721V20.exe.
This is what I did. It then went through some checks which passed fine, asked me to confirm whether I really wanted to flash the BIOS, to which I answered Y, it showed the message that it is now starting to flash the BIOS, and that's it.
It then remained in this state for a good hour before I finally drew the conclusion that this isn't doing anything. Even though it said not to switch it off while flashing the BIOS, it seemed to be my only option. I did, and luckily, all was working as previously, running version 1.8.
In short, the flashing program didn't actually do anything.
I am very reluctant to make another attempt at this point in time, because I'd much rather have the board in version 1.8 for the time being, than not have it work at all.
Is there anything I could have missed? Is there any way in which I can successfully flash my board to 2.0, so that I can later use a Richland APU in it?
Any help with this is appreciated!

I've done another search on the 1.8 BIOS and I can't find anything concerning Richland support. The description was just a generic "BIOS Update", whereas the 2.0 description is:
    - Update CPU ID.
    - Support Richland CPU.
To me, it looks like you need the 2.0 BIOS for Richland Support. If anyone could point me to any sources that the 1.8 BIOS already supports Richland APUs, I'd appreciate it. For now, I'll stick to my belief that you do need 2.0, until I've got evidence to the contrary.
Quote from: flobelix on 09-May-13, 20:50:34
Version 2.0 for FM2-A75MA-E35 like all Win8 bios versions for AMD boards currently can't be flashed with the forum tool. It's only possible by MSI's (risky) way.
And you can't even use M-Flash, like you can for all the 1.x versions. The only way to flash 2.0 seems to be to boot into DOS from a USB stick and then run the executable supplied by MSI. Will that likely remain the only way to flash to 2.x?
    Quote from: florinbss2 on 09-May-13, 22:44:31
I did the update and it worked. But I have an annoying problem. When activating Cool'n'Quiet in the BIOS, it's not work on cooler. Change frequently but not speed CPU cooler. Any percentage would choose the speed cooler does not change. Cooler running at full speed.
Well, I was going to say that at least you managed to flash your board, but having the CPU fan run at full speed irrespective of BIOS settings doesn't sound all too good either, and you can't even flash back to 1.x now, or can you?

  • Latest bios for FM2-A75MA-E35?

    http://us.msi.com/product/mb/FM2-A75MA-E35.html#/?div=BIOS
The two latest bios are both v21. One is dated 6/05, the other 7/25. Anyone upgraded recently? Is the 7/25 just mislabeled (i.e., should be v22)?

Appears that the latest is just a simple update of 2.1 that didn't require a BIOS version number change - Update BIOS module. Whatever that actually means/does I don't know.

  • Two issues with FM2-A75MA-E35

    Hi there
1- In the uefi bios startscreen it gives the correct board (FM2-A75MA-E35) and V1.2
If i look at the board itself it reads MS-7721 Ver 1.3 is this correct?
2- After booting into uefi, the moment I enter the save config menu the mouse freezes. Hitting F10 instead does the trick.
Changing parameters in bios with clickbios works well.
    Current bios version V1.2
    Thanks,

7721 is correct but not as precise:

  • BIOS Post Error Beeps on P7N Diamond

Hello. I have had this board for a few days now. I was playing a windows game and got a BSOD after a few minutes. The PC rebooted and I noticed the BIOS Post beeps were different. Before this there was just one long beep, which my research tells me that everything is ok. Now when I boot up I get 3 beeps ... 1 long, followed by 2 short. I researched this as well and found the following in my situation. According to AMI BIOS Beep Codes:
1 long, 2 short - Failure in video system An error was encountered in the video BIOS ROM, or a horizontal retrace failure has been encountered.
I'm not sure what this means exactly. It suggests 2 possible errors. Does this mean my video card is bad (8800GTS 512MB)? I have no idea what the second possible error ... retrace failure ... means. I am hoping that you might shed some light on this. Much appreciated.
    My setup:

I also get the faint short beeps after the initial louder long beep but I never associated this with usb devices or really attached any significance to it.
UPDATE:  Ram MEMTEST86+ for 8 hours - no errors.
Replaced the USB keyboard connector with normal keyboard - and using a single tethered USB mouse - get 1 beep on startup.
Put in USB keyboard - get two beeps on startup.
Put in USB remote wireless mouse and get 3 beeps on startup....
Conclusion:  Beeps seem to be USB related not error related.
Sierra2 below- the office deskietop being refurbished...
Added USB extension cable to link to the Dell Screen; and then connected a other couple of UBS devices to the three open ports on the board and one to the Screen [Screen is not USD2 - other ports are USB2]
    Apacer MultiCard Reader
    Wireless Mouse
    Wireless Keyboad and
    an extra USB [tethered] mouse.
All was fine until I added the 5th USB device - and then thought it was just missing the mouse driver - but on reboot -  heard a few more beeps [didnt listen that closely post midnight] and got various stops eventually getting through to WIN.  Then it went bellyup unstable and kept rebooting - unpredictably and  intermittently but within 5 to 10 min of each windows adventure.
Removed all but the wireless keboard and the tethered mouse - and it has settled down - but am now getting three short beeps at the start.  In setting this up yesterday - no beeps at all with a USB mouse and standard keyboard connector.  Sound at start is maybe one beep and two short ones or three short ones - neither of us listening can tell.  I guess I need to hook up the case speaker as the board speaker is pretty small.
AMI BIOS beeps diagnostix says it is likely a faulty RAM error on 2 or 3 beeps
But now, seeing this about the P7N Diamond, I am beginning to wonder if it is a USB related issue.  Maybe too many USB devices.  P4M900 has 2 x 2ports.  Just wondering if adding more than 4 USD devices really cause unstability??  Will run MEMTEST86+ on the RAM this evening to check.  Totally wierd- especially for a supposedly stable and simple board...  Thanks for any ideas...  k2

  • New motherboard (FM2-A75MA-E35) deliverd with Bios of other Mobo (FM-2A75IA-E53)

I bought the FM2-A75MA-E35, i got a box with this model on and it's indeed a micro atx Mobo
Well, i builded my New HTPC but got since i started building it i got multiple resets of the pc (just power off-on, in windows kernel power 41 error).
After 2 days of troubleshooting, changing PSU, memory, SSD, ... I wanted to update the Bios from v2.0 to v2.1, I however got the error that my board was not supported, after looking in tools like CPU-Z i found out that my Mobo reported itself as FM-2A75IA-E53, an ITX Mobo, this also explains why I've an option in the bios for wireless and Bluetooth, which the FM-2A75IA-E53 has, but the FM2-A75MA-E35 hasn't.
So it seems like MSI flashed the bios of another Mobo on mine in the factory? And could this explain my random reboots?
Any suggestion other then getting it back to the shop?

This thread can be closed. MSI USA send me a special BIOS to force flash.

  • 790FX-GD70 won't POST - 3 beeps & diagnostic LED "2e"

    Hi,
After a second or two of rapidly displaying various hex values, the POST_LED stops at "2e" (not documented in manual; can't find on MSI support site) and the system issues 3 beeps  (1 long and 2 short, also not documented in manual or online for AMI BIOS, which I assume from pictures in manual is what this mobo has on it).
    My configuration is as follows:

Obviously the CPU is good since I'm getting *some* POST activity and beeps, but I'm afraid I don't have any other video cards, memory, or PSU I can swap out to compare against. The previous poster (linked below) said he had swapped out many components and still had the same problem, though.
Any ideas, anyone? I'd be happy to further diagnose the problem myself if someone could point me towards a complete list of diagnostic LED values and meanings, and BIOS beep codes and meanings.

    yannifb,
Please keep discussion of your own problem in your own topic, do not hijack others'!
In order to find out the real cause, it is generally a good method to make comparisons with partially different configurations, as yannifb did. Therefore, I see his post as a useful contribution rather than hijacking, and I hope I am allowed to say so in this forum, even to a Global Administrator. Bootup failure with the 790FX-GD70 with various graphic cards and PSUs (which might very well have a COMMON cause) is now being discussed in different threads, which makes it more difficult to follow the discussion and to compare and analyse the phenomena.
My own PSU is a Corsair HX1000W, which is undoubtedly strong enough and even recommended expressly by AMD for the Radeon 4890. Nevertheless, bootup fails with the configuration given in my signature. (I hope I'm not guilty of another "hijacking" attempt. I believe we need some consolidation on this whole subject.)
