FMLE 3.2 audio input crash

Hi
When i try to change audio input FMLE 3.2 is crashing.
Anyone has idea is there a fix to it ?

Crashing when I try to specify audio input

Hey all. My name is William.
I am having trouble with Premiere. I started using it a few days ago and it is working great; however, I now want to record a voice-over. I haven't recorded audio in Premiere before, so I searched the help database. It told me I would need to specify the audio input, which sounded reasonable to me, so I went into Settings -> Audio Hardware and selected "Built in input/Built-in output" and it had the spinning wheel of death for a few moments (I'm on a Mac) and then crashed. I had turned off my error dialog boxes before due to a previous problem with Photoshop frequently thinking it had crashed when in fact I had quit it, so I have no way to report the problem other than here.
I have also tried setting the option to "System default input/output" and it still crashes.

As for media cache - you'll find it in your preferences.
your system should run Premiere Pro fine, but it won't fly as you can probably imagine. Let me know how you make out.

After effects crashing when changing audio input

Hi all,
I've been trying to get my Steinberg (Yamaha) ur-28m external USB audio interface/soundcard to work with After Effects CS6 for a week now. The problem is that everytime I change the audio input in the AE preferences to the Steinberg asio drivers AE freezes for a few seconds and then crashes. Same thing happens in Premiere btw.
I've tried everything possible:
- updated Steinberg drivers to newest version
- updated AE to latest version
- trashed preferences
- totally removed and installed master collection again
- formatted hd and Reinstalled windows 7 and installed Master collection again.
- tried all possibles buffer rates
Problem still there...
I looked into the events log and it mentions ntdll.dll and makes afterfx.exe crash.
Bottom line is I can't work with sound now, which is really frustrating. In other programs (non Adobe) these drivers are rock solid.
Apparantly After effects (and in my case premiere also) doesn't like Steinberg. I saw this other thread about Steinberg in After Effects: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1063355.
Doesn't look like it's been solved.
Main specs of my pc:
Intel i7-2600
16GB ram Corsair
Nvidia gtx 560 ti

Basically what I did was set it as the line out for sound from windows, so
all sounds will be routed through the UR22 (Will work with any program).
You can leave it set as is to have windows sounds play out of the computer
line/speaker out and go into the sound settings in Premiere and set the
audio playback device as the UR22 (Only Premiere plays out of UR22) but
that is where i had problems. I just set all audio playback in windows to
route to the UR22 (Line Out in windows) and left settings in Premiere alone
(In Playback settings leave audio device as Adobe Desktop Audio....Premiere
routes to windows output, which i set to UR22) and everything worked fine.
I am a video editor and spend 95% of my time in Premiere and some time in
Audition and After Effects and it has worked great.The only issue I have
had with the UR22 is that every once in a while if i leave my system on
over night rendering and playback something the next morning any audio will
sound like it is playing back too slow (Pitch shifted lower). But all you
have to do is unplug the usb and plug it back in and all is well again.

FMLE uses Directshow filters for its audio and video. The problem you are having is that the AVerMedia 7231 Analog Capture is buggy. You can narrow down the problem like this.
1) Run graphedit.exe or a similar graph building program. This application is within the tools of microsoft directshow. However, you can download alternatives on the internet.
2) Add the AVerMedia 7231 Analog Capture filter into the graph.
3) right click and choose properties. Set the device to the lowest settings you can find. mono , 8 bits per sample 11khz . Doesnt really matter, but useful to start small
3) connect its pin to DirectSound or any other windows audio filter you have installed. Alternatively , directshow has a filter named Scope which can draw waveforms. You can use that instead.
4) Run the filter and observe.
5) repeat the test with different settings. Slowly go up until you encounter the crash.
Sorry you have this problem, but often, other than updating the card, you might be out of luck .

How can I get my audio input and output devices back? I have no sound and cannot see any of the devices in Audio MIDI Setup..??

Hi, I tried to set up a new output audio device on my mac that would have multiple outputs (iBox Twist speaker and my internal speaker) but when I went to click onto one of the iBox Twist (there were 2 options available: iBox Twist and iBox Twist Stereo), Audio MIDI Setup crashed and when I finally got that back open, I found that there were no audio input or output devices to be found. My sound is working, as when I turn on my iMac, the starting sound still plays, however the volume control in the menu bar is no longer a black colour, but grey and when I try to change the sound on my keyboard it does not change. This already happened to me once, and after 3 hours I managed to fix it very simply (switching off Mac, unplugging power cord, leaving for 15 seconds, plug power cord back in and switch Mac back on, holding Alt, Cmd, P and R keys until you hear the Starting Up sound twice) however this same technique that fixed it once before is not working this time and I am still stuck without sound. I have tried Repair Permissions, rebooting in Safe Mode, Hardware Test and checking for Software Updates. Has anyone else had this problem and managed to fix it?

In case anyone has had the same problem as me, I have just managed to fix this by doing the following:
Switch off Mac
Switch back on in Safe Mode (Hit power button, then hold Shift key until a loading bar appears at the bottom of the screen).
Switch off Mac again
Remove power cord and wait 15 seconds
Plug power cord back in and hold down the keys alt, cmd, p, r all at the same time until you hear Starting chime for a second time and hopefully your audio will back.

Can I use multiple audio inputs in Flash Media Live Encoder?

This is the closet forum section to that program and I was wondering if there was any way to take the audio input from my capture card as well as a microphone and use those together at the same time.

FMLE will not directly mux audio connections from different sources. You could try possibly using a "Virtual Audio Cable", which is a outside program. Search Google for it.
If you want to have more control over what you broadcast, I suggest using a 3rd party program such as Telestream Wirecast, or Xsplit..
Xsplit is a realtively cheap alternative to Wirecast which is pricey.

Flash Media Live Encoder 3 Audio Input Level Resets (XP)

I am using Flash Media Live Encoder 3 on a Windows XP computer, with an Ospery-100 capture card for video and a generic sound card line in for audio input. It works fine, except for every time I launch the encoder or even just stop and start encoding (i.e. without closing the application), it resets the line in audio level of my sound card to maximum--not good, as the appropriate setting is actually the minimum. If I don't remember to open the Windows mixer and turn it back down, the audio clips like crazy. No other application I use changes the input leve of my sound card in this way. What is happening here? Any ideas? Any solutions? Thanks.

Have you checked volume slider position in FMLE? If it is set at 100% it would increase the audio level of sound card. Drag slider to lower value to reduce the volume level.

Keeps crashing on start up! Can start without core audio, but crashes with!

I've run into a strange problem, when starting Logic it keeps on crashing after core audio initialize. I have tried starting whilst holding control to select start without core audio. This works and the app starts, i then go to audio preferences to select a audio driver to use. This is the strange bit i think?
It only gives me my audio input options, Built MIC, Built Input/ Built Input Aggregated. It does not give me an output option. I recall this not being normal? I am right or wrong here?
I also have a motu 828 which when connected and selected also crashes the program. It was all working fine one day and not the other, i have tried a reinstall twice also. I have no idea of what is happening so any insight and help would be great.

I have finally solved the problem. Do not use melodyne with LOGIC 8 it will not work! To run both on the same machine the melodyne rewire files must be removed from application support.

Garageband Quits Every Time I Change Audio Input/Output

Hi. I own a Plantronics headset that came with MacSpeech Dictate when I bought that software a few years ago. It shows up on my Mac as a C-Media USB Audio device.
I'm trying to use it with Garageband. So, in Garageband, I've gone into Preferences and the Audio/MIDI section.
When I choose the C-Media USB Audo device as either "Audio Input" or "Audio Output" (I want to use the headset for both), Garageband asks if I want to "Change audio driver" and I then click yes. Then Garageband has a status bar saying "Initializing audio driver." Then, before it finishes initializing, Garageband quits. This happens every single time.
So, I'm not sure what to do. I don't even understand why Garageband is looking for a driver when my headset is a USB device that works with all programs -- it's not a MIDI keyboard.
Sometimes, after I restart Garagband after the quit, I see that it has changed the device. But this happens more frequently for the Audio Output Device. For instance, the C-Media device is now selected for Audio Output. But I keep selecting it for Audio Input as well and Garageband keeps quitting and when I restart it, the Audio Input device hasn't changed and still says Built-in Microphone.
I can't imagine I'm the only one who's had this problem. If anyone knows the solution, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply. it got me halfway there. Now it will open for the audio side, but still crashes as soon as I switch to Midi.
There were no Midi configs in my library, but there's a folder full of them in the main Library. Most of the files in there I don't care about, but there are several that I don't want to lose. Should i trash the folder and then re-install the ones I want?

All Audio apps Crashing!!!

I recently uprgaded to Tiger OSX 10.4.10 from 3.9. I also uprgaded QT to the latest version. Opened up Digital Performer 4.2. When I hit the record button, it crashed. Reopened. Tried "play" instead of record. Performer crashed. OK. I opened up QT pro. Tried "Audio Recording". Crashed. #@$%^& !!!! Opened up the audio tool. Switched off my M-Audio converter. Turned on the Mac audio (internal) card. QT pro still crashes. Pulled the DAT recorder out of the mothballs. Recorded the voice talent. OK. WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON ???

I'm sorry but "update your third party software" is not a helpful answer. If QT pro crashes on "Audio Record", It means it's another issue. Your answer is actually a bit irresponisble. I spend money to update my apps and then still end up with the same problem. My guess is that it is a QT issue. If QT crashes when I open the record panel, and i've set the audio inputs and outputs to internal. I'm sorry if I sound a bit angry, but I need a solution not a guess.

CP5 Audio recording crashing program

I am on a free trial of Captivate 5, looking to update from 4. One issue we've had in both versions is audio recording crashing Captivate. Recording new slides is not a problem. However, when I go to add an audio recording to a slide using the mic on my laptop, it works perfectly for two or three (sometimes up to 5 or 6) slides, then one of two things will happen:
1) The microphone is no longer found - the system either returns the error "Cannot detect audio input device" or "Internal Audio Error."
2) Captivate stops responding and I have to restart the program.
I am having to save the project after each recording, on the chance the next one will crash the program. This is taking forever. None of the projects I'm working on are over 75 slides, and they are between 8-12Mb in size.
Could this just be a memory issue? I'm running CP5 on Vista, 32 bit with 3 GB ram. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I don't know. Did you update to QuickTime 7? if so, exactly what version are you running now?
Also, try deleting the imovie preference file.
Close iMovie.
Then locate a file named com.apple.imovie3.plist and get rid of it. It is still called iMovie3 even if you have iMovie 4. Then empty the trash, run a permissions repair with disk utility and restart. That should do it. The files you need to delete are found in:
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie3.plist

with FCE-HD on iMac i have system preferences set to USB-122 Tascam box for audio input/output (works great with GB for instance) but when i try using it for audio input on FCE and the voice-over tool set to USB-122, i hear no audio, the level meter doesn't more, etc, its still taking the audio from the built-in mic.
im sure its something simple im overlooking??

How do I get audio input to my TV when using a HDMI adaptor/converter?

I bought a Belkin HDMI converter for my mid-2010 Macbook Pro so that I can watch internet movies on my television. When I plugged the HDMI into the adaptor I am able to see the video play on my television however the sound is still coming through my computer instead of my televsion. How do I get audio input from my computer onto my TV?

You need to set the output in System Preferences > Sound > Output to HDMI.

Sample rate off the audio input and out devices do not match - what to do?

This is fundamental, I know, but nevertheless I can't find my way around it. I get this error message when trying to recor:
Sample rate off the audio input and out devices do not match
and am asked to do this:
Use the appropriate operating system or audio device control panel to adjust the sample rates of the input and output devices to use the same settingt.
I have defined the sample rate to 44.1/16 bit in accordance with my inbuild soundcardt.
I am trying to record from LineIn.
When running on a M-Audio sound card I don't face any problems.

You're sure you have set BOTH the input and output settings to 44.1 16 bit?
Which version of Windows are you running? There are a number of posts on this forum about how to fully access both the Windows Mixer and the Mixer for your soundcard. Especially, you need to ensure that all "Windows Sounds" are turned OFF.

How do I use the built-in audio input with AU Lab?

I just tried AU Lab for the first time, and I can't select an audio input.
The "Create New Document" window lets me choose "Built-in Output", but the pulldown for Input Source is greyed out. The area under the "Input" button says, "Audio Input Not Supported". How can it not support the built-in audio input? I even tried using SoundFlower to route the signal from the Line In (a small app) to the Input of AU Lab. AU Lab's display then shows two channels from Soundflower, but they are still greyed out.
All I want to do is get a signal from the built-in audio input routed to AU Lab so I can use AU effects to process the audio signal in real time. How do I do this?

They comes configured with your software. If you want to use, for example, Skype, you need to run the configuration wizard section.
